  • CS6 - Strange red box when trying to Save As

    Hi everyone,
I've got an annoying problem that has just developed in CS6...
When I try to 'Save As' I get the corner of a red box on screen next to the cursor and I do not know what it is. This happens when pressing CTRL SHIFT S.
Then, rather than opening the Save As box, I am able to draw a red box, as though I can select something, but when I release the mouse button, the box disappears... and nothing happens, it doesn't allow me to Save As/
Has anyone else had this happen? Have I clicked something by accident? How do I get rid of it? It's annoying me!
I can save as by pressing CTRL ALT S, but I want to use the good old fashioned CTRL SHIFT S again...
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for your reply Noel.
I've just checked and it does indeed do the same in other programs. I hadn't noticed this as I must only use CTRL Shift S in Photoshop.
I have installed a couple of things recently, some add-ons for Visual Studio and mouses without borders... I shall investigate further to find the culprit! Pesky programs!
    Thanks again

Sorry, I cannot imagine what's happening, I have never seen this error associated with still images.
Try searching the archives for the error message and see if any of the many threads offer anything helpful.

  • Get rid of red box?

I'm getting this strange red box on the playback screen in Final Cut pro.  I've never had this before.  The program is still functioning thus far however it show up on any video's im working on.  It's simply just getting very annoying.  Since I am not a "pro" by any means I am hoping it is some button I pressed or something.  Please advise if you have any knowledge on this matter.

Thanks - the red box is there for a purpose. It's extremely useful if you're zoomed right into the preview window because it indicates where you are - and if you mouse over it, the cursor turns into a hand, enabling you to drag the red box to where you want to be in the image.

  • Strange RED HIGHLIGHTS appears in my print documents

Strange RED HIGHLIGHTS appears in my print documents, but in the preview dont been showed, whats happens.
    OS: Windows XP
    Acrobat Reader Version: 8.1
    Printer: HP2605dn
    Ram: 512 mb
    Processor: 1.4 Ghz P4

Eliezer...go to the Print dialog box and click on the Advanced button on the bottom left of the dialog. When the Advanced window comes up go to the lower left corner and put a check in the Print As Image box. Then click OK and then try printing. This is a print driver issue and hopefully checking the Print as Image box will let you print without the red highlights. Good Luck!

  • Greetings, I am working in Final Cut Pro 7. In the timeline some clips show as offline. I tried going to sequence and reconnecting to media but it does not work. I can still see the video in the timeline and work with it. It just has the red box.

If the clips are not actually missing, you could try to refresh the timeline by using cmd-0 and then going to the timeline options tab. Then select name only where it says "thumbnail display". Press ok to accept the change, then repeat the process to add thumbnails back to your timeline.

  • Anyone know what red box guidelines mean in a Pop Up Menu?

My first attempt at making my own pop up menu. The layers display on the screen with red boxes that I've never seen before (blue and green I'm used to for transforming and/or changing text). What does a red box mean?

Ohhhhh, that's right. Well, I wasn't sure how to integrate the background with the buttons. But technically, it should still work, right?
If there's a way to "fix" it (other than removing the background), please let me know. Worst case scenario, the background of the couple kissing either goes. or I default to cheap static menus. lol.

  • Red Box - Unsupported File Type - Large Tiff - Large Scans - 10,000 pixels

    Hello All,
I am a user of Aperture 2.1, and I have grown to love the program except for one major issue. Large files that are imported into the program are simply unsupported.
I scan 6x7 medium format negatives (8649x10712 @ 530.2 megs) and 4x5 negatives (very large drum scans) into my system (new 8 core, 12 gig ram, 512 meg vidcard, 10.5.2) and the issues begin. A thumbnail is properly built. Once the thumbnail is selected, and a preview is built, the image appears briefly and is replaced by a red box soon with the text "Unsupported File Type". If I change views to full screen all I see is a red box with the same text. Ie. I can't work the image.
The files are perfectly fine. I work them in photoshop cs3 no problem, and I can view them with quick look preview no problem.
This is highly frustrating as I work primarily in larger formats and create large prints!
It seems like the bug occurs in files that have a side larger than 10,000 pixels. This is a massive issue to large format/panoramic workflow!
I have called Apple tech support and the techs claim ignorance. That could mean they do not know of the issue which does not bode well for a solution. I'm in the dark. Please shed some light!
    Three questions:
Is anyone else experiencing these issues?
Is there a workaround that doesn't involve cutting file size?
Has there been any acknowledgment from Apple support regarding this issue?
I am most frustrated as Aperture is billed as a professional product, but it is unable to keep up with the demands of a working fine art photographer.
Awesome product but needs some adjustments!

William, thanks for your input, but I feel that your position avoids the primary issue. Aperture is a Digital Asset Manager, and as such, should be able to manage digital image assets.
From Aperture's Webpage: "See how Aperture lets you import, manage, and enhance your photos in one simple, integrated workflow." It says photos, not Raw photos. In fact, I'll take it one step further, in the tutorial CD that came with 1.5, the narrator mentions the 16-bit workflow in Aperture with Tiffs, more than once.
I purchased Aperture for management and integrated workflow. Apple states: "Now it’s even easier to cull through shoots, enhance images, manage massive libraries, and deliver stunning photos." No where does it say that the functionality of the program is limited to RAW files. Ie. Apple never mentions that Large .tif files are not supported.
I have 6x7 and 4x5 Scans, Masters, Working Images, Print files and Web images that I would like to organize, stack, label, rate, view versions simultaneously on my second screen, sort, arrange, and keyword. The program's basic functionality is thwarted by an issue that Apple has not owned up to.
If Apple had mentioned in its literature that large .tif's weren't supported I would not be posting this, as I would not have purchased the software. But nowhere, not in phone conversations with Apple Techs (3), not on their own Forums where other end users have hit a massive workflow brick wall, and not even after I mentioned to a One on One guru, has Apple said, oh, yeah, we are aware of it and working on it. There is no transparency here.
Now, I have purchased Aperture, learned it, and imported thousands of files into it. I like the program as I have seen it function with smaller files perfectly, but this large file issue needs to be overcome.
Regarding editing images, yes I use photoshop for the majority of my post-production. I then use a finely tuned Colorburst Rip on a nice Epson for my Fine Prints. Those are the functions of the respective programs. Aperture is a DAM, a program that among other things allows the end use to manage their files effectively and maintain a strong workflow.
Regarding space - esata is a beautiful thing.

  • Strange Black Box around every prompt I am given...

This is very strange. I started up iChat for the first time on MBP and am now having a very strange occurance. At every prompt there is a strange black box around it. For example, right now there is a black box around the back arrow in my safari browser. When I open the finder there is a black box around my hard drive. I just opened system preferences and there is a black box around the back arrow in system preferences box...
    Can anybody help me?
    MacBook Pro 2GHz, PowerBook G4, PowerMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

heheh ya it's funny when you look at the people who just hear the mac talking and they don't know wat to do.. but ya.. universal access is only for that.. for the F8 key is exposè, which is nothing related to Universal Access at all, so you can keep Universal Access options off and exposè will still running
Anyway, you can configure both from the System Preferences.

  • Strange white boxes behind text.  Help!

I am in the middle of working on a very important document.  In one section, an autobiographical section, I added sidbars.  The background of text box is grey.  Everything looked great, including when I printed last.  Today when I was working on the document, I noticed that the headings (in the text box sidebars) have white behind the text.  I tried troubleshooting:
I thought maybe there was a font trouble?  tried changing fonts.
I thought maybe it was text box fill problem? changed colors of font and text box fill...  No go.
Please ignore the terrible black boxes.  I chose to black-out any personal data.  The problem is the strange white boxes behind the headings (in the sidebar).  Any ideas?

    bump! help requested please

  • I am unable to open my Red Box account. I get the message "unknown API error."

I switched to Fire Fox because of slowness and other issues with Internet Explorer. Fire Fox is much better, with one exception. I can't open my Red Box account. I get a message that states "unknown API error." Red Box says the problem is related to the fact that they have new software. However, I can still pull up Red Box in Explorer.

  • SCRIPT/TRIGGER editor not working correctly - red box - codearea.htc

    Hello,
I have installed HTMLDB on my computer, and everything works fine, except when I try to edit or create a procedure, script, or trigger, instead of the blue box which allows edit happening it is instead a red box. This box cannot be edited. When trying to compile code already uploaded, a javascript error is produced: Length value is null.
Please help me. I think that I might have a problem with the type of editor( codearea.htc)

You will need to setup the MIME types properly in your HTTP server configuration. Please take a look into the Oracle HTML DB Installation guide / chapter 4: Oracle HTML DB post-installation tasks.
    Hope this helps,

  • Strange red light

i see strange red light the bottom the my Mac pro black cylinger. its went out about less than 3 sec. so what was that??

Infra red refers to a spectrum of light normally 'invisible' to the naked human eye. Probably, the film is splitting this light, causing some wavelengths of light to interfere with each other and produce interference wavelenghts, which fall into the 'visible' band. Like in radio where two or more signals can combine and produce a third 'interference' signal, so as in light, and indeed sound. They're all waves, just at different frequencies. I'm sure I read another post some time back of a person able to see the light transmission from the IR sensor.
Have you tried looking at it with a digital camera ?, most of these don't include any IR filtration and as the sensors are IR sensitive, they will 'show' the IR transmitted light. (A good way of verifying if your IR remote control is working is to look at it with a digital camera while operating it and looking for the now visible light beam being emitted).
I know I've gone on a bit, but at least I believe you saw a light and I thought I'd offer my take on the causes.

  • Strange Red Line

There's strange red line appearing on right side of canvas in the browser. The red line is not visible on the standalone quicktime player.
    Here is the example: http://www.tordiaimages.com/uploads/redline.png

Your terminology is very confusing, because "canvas" and "browser" mean one thing to FCP users and another to non FCP users.
You're saying the red line only appears when you play your exported video in Firefox. If that's true, it's quite clear where the problem lies. Just explain this to your client.
