Strange symbol "=" at the end of message

Please,
I have noticed that some replied/forwarded e-mail messages, which were initially sent to different persons possess at the end of the message the symbol "=".
Say I send:
+Hi Mary+
+Tell me about your new car.+
Labzen
+Then, I receive a reply:+
Hi
+Not received it yet, but soon I invite you....+

+Tell me about your new car.+

Is that a normal behavior? Thanks in advance for any incoming information.

Thanks for your prompt reply. That's interesting because the default of my Mail application is plain text. Mail servers and e-mail applications should handle with plain text without mistakes. Isn't that true? I do not have enough knowledge about computer/software, but I believe that e-mail traffic should deal ever as plain text (no special formats). May be that's the reason of this kind of mistake.
Also, it would very nice to know whether other people are experiencing the same situation or not.
Sorry about my english.
Unfortunately, that is a long, long story. The only thing that e-mail can transfer is plain text. There are a number of clever tricks to make it transfer pretty fonts, videos, pictures, sounds, etc. One of those tricks uses the '=' pretty often.
The funny thing is, while no e-mail message is anything other than plain text, virtually no e-mail message really is plain text either. If you add any attachments to your message, it will no longer be in plain text, regardless of what it tells you. Once your messages leaves your machine, any machine it passes through may, and probably will, chop up, re-arrange, and re-format your message.
Ultimately, the reason for this mistake is just pure incompetence on the part of programmers. E-mail is a very old standard and very well-defined. With the notable exception of Apple, very few companies have even made the slightest attempt to properly handle it. Even Apple has been steadily dumbing down its e-mail software over the past 15 years to try to make it more compatible.
I don't have a good answer for you. I really don't think using plain text e-mail is a good idea. I think it is just a waste of time. My theory is that you should make full use of the technology available to you and if other people can't keep up, too bad. If you need maximum compatibility with people who don't have modern e-mail clients, then your only real option is to print out your e-mail and put it in an envelope.

  • Strange character at the end of some file/folder names

I'm getting a strange character at the end of some of my file and folder names. This is it:  When I enlarge it, it says "private use" on the top and bottom, "E000" on the left side, and "F8FF" on the right side. It acts like a character within the font, but I'm not sure why it's there.
In case that didn't work, I'm going to try to attach or embed a gif of the character. I'm not sure if it will work or not.
Also, some longer file names seem to be dleeting some of the letters and are inserting a pound sign and a few numbers (e.g. #34) in place of the letters.
    What's going on?
    As usual, thanks in advance,
    Lloyd

I thought that might be it...at first. Then I found some file names that were nowhere near 32 characters long whose names were truncated.
It's not a huge problem, except in QuarkXPress when I collect the files for output and I have to reconnect to the ones whose names have been changed (to protect the innocent, I suppose).
    Thanks for the input mark.

  • What is the ~ (tilde) symbol where the number of messages normally is?

Sometimes my Mail has a tilde (~) symbol where the number of messages is normally found by the Inbox on the left side of the Mail window. I have been having some problems where I have had to change the outgoing mail port, and don't know if this is related. I seem to be able to send and receive email, but would like to know what is happening.

    Hi,
the tilde (~) symbol means that the account is offline. You can take an account online from the "Mailbox" menu item "Online Status".

  • Attaching documents to the end of messages

I like for my attachments to be inserted at the end of my messages when I send messages in "Mail".  Is there a way to set a default that always inserts my attachments at the end of my messages?  Or do I have to manually select them to be inserted at the end of my messages?  If not this default needs to be added to the "Mail" app.
    Thanks!

What on earth has the less command in Linux have to do with the subject matter, the SQL and PL/SQL languages, of this forum?
Have you looked at the man pages for less ? - the shortcut keys are listed there. Including that F takes you to the end of file and waits for more file output to be displayed.

  • How to add the percent (%) symbol at the end of a number in a form field

    Hi,
I need to display a percentage as a result of a calculation in the form: 80.23%
How can I direct the Format Mask     inside an APEX form to display that?
    I use a PL/SQL expression
    Thank you

There is no solution to this?
I would think that since the percent symbol is a very common symbol next to numbers that it should have been a native format in oracle.
this needs to be escalated to the database team.

  • I am trying to reinstall iTunes on my PC (Windows Vista) and download stalls at the end and message reads "The procedure entry point kCMByteStreamNotification_AvailableLengthChanged could not be located in the dynamic link library Core Media.dll"

I am trying to reinstall iTunes on my PC (Windows Vista) and the download stops just before completion with the following message: "The procedure entry port kCMByteStreamNotification_AvailabileLengthChanged could not be located in the dynamic link library Core Media.dll"  Also "error 127. Any suggestions?

Okay. Trouble at the "publishing production information" stage also suggests trouble with Apple Application Support.
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • How to print the end of message in interractive report

like a top-of-during line selection  is any event is avaliable

this is very simple to do. no need to write that in any event.
The place where you are writing code to display the 2nd 3rd lists, just below that write your END OF LIST Code.
    like,
Lets assume, you have written this code for a 2nd list,
    then
LOOP AT ITAB WHERE VBELN = V_VBELN.
    WRITE :/ ITAB.
    ENDLOOP.
WRITE :/ 'END OF LIST OF',SY-LSIND.
this END OF LIST OF 2 will be printed just after all records of ITAB is printed.

  • Strange Symbols for the  Names of Folders?

I noticed a bunch of wierd symbols for some of the names of the folders within my Preferences Folder. I was wondering if I could delete these folders? They don't appear in the old Mac from which I transfered nor do they appear in a newly purchased Mac. So I think they are junk and can be removed. Or should I keep them because they don't appear to be causing any kind of harm or damage? Below is a link to a picture of what these folders look like if that will help you tell me whether these files are needed or not.
    http://homepage.mac.com/louh/Prefs/PhotoAlbum43.html
    Thanks for the help,
    Lou

I do have a TWAIN driver with an Epson scanner. I wonder why these files are occurring now and did not occur when I had the same driver on my old G4 MDD tower? I think I'll still move/delete them and see what happens. I can always reload the driver. I wonder if it's some kind of Photoshop bug.
I remember reading about a PS bug a while ago. This bug states that if the following file is present in the /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS2/Legal.localized/ and /Applications /Adobe Illustratior CS2//Legal.localized/folders for a file called Tieng Viet.html then you need to immediately delete these files.
So I deleted the above files and ran DiskWarrior and everything appears OK (except for the wierd folder names). Maybe these files have something to do with that bug or maybe it has something to do with the PS3 beta that I have loaded. I wasn't able to scan using TWAIN through PS3 beta, so I used PS2 like I did in the past. Oh well just rambling thoughts.

  • When visiting web page strange symbols cover the web page, happens on sites visited, have confirmed that the sited and page visited is normal on other pc.

I have scanned for malware by using Spy Bot, EST Smart Security, Microsoft security essentials and IO bit Malware Fighter. All come back clean. Have uninstalled Firefox and clean installed Firefox after reboot.
Still no change. Thank in advance for suggestions on how to fix. Note this is being sent from the 2nd PC which does not have the described issue.

    Update:
Thanks to ideato and jscher2000, the problem described appears to be solved.
My final step after updating the video driver was to go into msconfig.exe and click on Startup Tab and disable all ''non microsoft'' startup items, I did leave ESET security program to also load at startup. I then went to the General tab and clicked Selective startup.
Did a reboot and problem solved. The problem is now isolated to those startup programs which I had disabled in the msconfig program.
    Thanks again for the help

Someone can tell me this text after departure address?

Most likely you're using Addthis plugin for social media sharing. Take a look at this related thread here - http://forums.adobe.com/message/6032749.

  • I have a MacBook Pro.  In incoming emails strange symbols are replacing the sender's name that is usually in bold.  Can anyone help?

Incoming emails are showing strange symbols where the sender's name used to be in bold.  The messages themselves are ok, it's just the sender's name.  Can anyone help me figure this out?

    Back up all data.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.
Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
Also note that if you deactivate or remove any built-in fonts, for instance by using a third-party font manager, the system may become unstable.

Like reading a file and find the end of character and writing into a file.
The above way is correct or any other way?Try it and see. Such a program will only be a dozen lines long.

  • Handling end dialog message in async trigger scenario

I have ServiceA which send message to Service B.  Service A lives in a sql trigger and doesn't wait for a response from Service B.  Service B pulls the message off the queue and closes the dialogue.  This generates an End Dialog message that
was intended for Service A but Service A has long since moved on.  Is it ok for service B to subsequently process the End Dialog message in this scenario?
Service A context = Sql Trigger
Service B context = .NET windows service manually calling TSQL Receive

For 10-20 times a day, it seems an overkill to reuse conversations.
Guess I could have an activation sp look for EndDialog messages and close them and skip all other message types (the rest would be de-queued / processed by the windows service).
Nope. You should only see the EndDialog messages. Keep in mind that this is the queue for the
initiator. The Windows service should not touch this queue. It should read the target queue.
You should really only see EndDialog messages on in that procedure, but there could be error messages as well. It can be a good idea to log these somewhere, to make troubleshooting easier.
