Strange sync error...says it's syncing, but no songs movetransfer!

My Ipod had been working fine, but then it wouldn't sync, either manually or automatically. It says it's syncing, but none of the new songs would be added to my ipod. I also noted that it was showing the wrong album art....so I did the 5R's. Now I've got no music on my ipod, and I'm unable to sync anything on. If I look at songs under the ipod while it says it is syncing, it shows them grayed out for a second on the ipod, then they disappear.
I'm working on windows 2000 w/ newest software I can.
Anyone seen this before?

It might be worth quickly checking on a Windows drive letter confusion (although that's not commonly associated with misplaced artwork):
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Shuffle seems to sync, but no songs appear in Contents

My daughter just got a refurbished 2nd Gen. Shuffle. Our Mac and iTunes recognize it, but everytime we connect it, it goes through 2 seconds of "syncing" (or so it says) but nothing appears in the iPod's content window.
We've tried all the R nonsense (Restart, Restore, bla, bla, bla) MANY times to no avail.
We've also tried manually managing and dragging songs to the iPod, but it won't let us do that either.
It says it's syncing, but nothing shows up. Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • I plug in my iPad and sync it with iTunes and it says it's done, but the songs I synced on my iPad aren't there. How do I fix this?

It no longer updates when connected to WiFi and it doens't sync when I plug it into iTunes.

Like Tiffany, I too get the same message when I try to sync my ipad. I have a library and so does my husband. Both libraries are on the same computer, created at different times, with different content.  He has a movie in his library but it shows (as do his music, apps, etc) in my library.  When we try to sync the movie from either library we get the message. How do we complete the sync and how do we seperate the libraries?

  • I Pod 'syncs' but no songs show up on I Pod

I've recently bought a new Nano (4th generation), to replace an older model. But now, when I connect the I Pod to my laptop, syncing starts, but it still says '0' songs on my I Pod, even though I tunes has updated the songs (it shows as blue - for 'audio' - on the memory bar).
Then when I plug my I Pod in at a later date, the songs that were 'synced' are now showing up as 'other'.
Basically I tunes doesn't seem to be recognizing my I Pod correctly.
I've tried the 5 R's to no avail. Then, when I tried removing i tunes (in order to reinstall it), I got this message saying:
+The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.+
+Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below."+
When I try to download new I tunes 8, I encounter the same problem. I can never get beyond that point. So I cannot remove i tunes, and I think my I Pod isn't being recognized in the correct way.
Any idea what the problem might be, or how to fix it?

I've had the same problem with my iPod nano. I'm running iTunes, the latest version, on a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows Vista, but I've managed to get the iPod to sync on a Dell computer and laptop that run on Windows XP.
Basically, iTunes says that the sync was successful, right? And then, once ejected, it says 0 songs are on the iPod? The same things has happened to my iPod.
If anyone has a solution to this, please share!

  • IPod Classic syncs but no songs on iPod

Hi I just connected to iTunes so I could add some new songs to my iPod - it wiped my collection from the iPod.  I did a reset, then a restore and finally a factory reset.  The factory reset seemed to work, as my iTunes advised it was syncing (about an hour to do so, but not surprising given the size of my library).  After the sync finished, I disconnected, however there are no songs or films on my iPod.  When connected to iTunes, the library shows in full that it is on the iPod, but it doesn't seem to translate to the iPod.
When I go into the settings on the iPod it is recognising that the data is on the hard drive (shows the capacity reduction for the files), however no files to choose.  Any help would be fantastic - I need my music!

Thanks - have done this twice now ....
    Done what, Sync, Restore?
    I'll ask again;
is the iPod showing the storage space being that is being used as Other?
    have you Synced again?
if a Sync didn't fix it, have you used iTunes to Restore the iPod?
A Restore is not the same as a Reset!
A Reset will not fix this problem.

... and that may be because everything is "Other", which the iPod cannot use.

  • Stop music sync but keep songs on iPhone

    Hi,
I may be missing something here but my iPhone is running out of space by my ever growing iTune playlist that syncs to it and was wandering if I could stop it syncing whilst keeping the songs. If I unselect the sync option it will delete all the songs too
The playlist in question also syncs to the iPod so I could create a new playlist just for the iPhone but considering I have numeorus playlists and smart playlists I just didn't want to add yet another one!
    Thanks,
    Leonardo

So the songs were not in your iTunes library on your computer to begin with?
Sync via iTunes is one way, computer > device.
If you purchase media on the device,  you can select Files > Transfer purchases to move that content to your iTunes library.
If this is content that was somehow loaded from another computer or iTunes library, there is really nothing  you can do.

  • OS X will not let me delete .mov files, error says "file in use" but files not in use, still happens after restart

    Hi
I have a folder full of .mov files but can't delete any of them, I get a message "File in use" but it isn't. Have managed to delete using Terminal, but that is a pain. New files have the same problem, have tried unlocking them and restarting the computer, but no joy. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello
    you may try this
    - use little app like Onyx download here
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/download.php
    - start from an external system hard drive , then navigate to your file to delete it
    - by luck if you have a second mac and a firewire cable , have a look at

  • It says that it updated, but the songs aren't on my ipod!

When I connect my Ipod to update it, it updates it and then says that it is ok to disconnect, but after I disconnect it, the songs aren't on my ipod. The Ipod shows that it has updated on the computer, and the songs are there, but they are not really there. I have tried and not been able to restore it. Is there anyway I can manually delete everything/restore? It is a 4G and it is running verison 3.1.1. Is that the right verison? I have tried different cables and USB ports. I have installed all of the latest itunes. I have downloaded the ipod updater/restore program, installed, it and restart the computer, but non of it has worked. I can access some word files on it, and that makes me think that it is not the cable?? I need help:( please:(

are you getting the ipod service error on the latest updater too?
these are the best places to start with that one:

  • HT1725 What do I do if the download says it is complete, but the song does not play the whole way through?

I downloaded an album from the itunes store, which completed fine, but when I play it, some songs play through fully and some go silent about 15 seconds before they should end. How do I fix this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Error saying to enter : Incoterms while sales order creation

    Hi,
I am trying to create a sales order. Once the header data is entered, I am getting error saying "Enter Incoterms".
But, after entering the item data, there is no error. They are determined.
But, incoterms should get determine, based on header data.
Could you please let me know, is it a standar behaviour or any note needs to be applied?
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

Incoterms are picked up from the sales area data of the sold to party. Please check your sold to master data if the incoterm is maintained. I hope this helps.

  • I'm not able to sync my Ipod with Itunes.  It's there, but even manually there is an error saying syncing didn't work.

A while back I had to restore my laptop to factory settings due to a virus.  Until that time, I was able to sync my newer Ipod Touch 4th Generation.  Now, even though when I connect my Ipod, it shows it there, I am unable to sync it with my Itunes on my laptop.  Therefore, I cannot get all my music onto the Ipod.  I tried to troubleshoot.  It said to go under my Ipod and manually sync, but when I clicked the "sync" but, after a few minutes an error came up saying "Could not sync.  Sync failed to start."  Anyone know what I can do?

Not with your current user id.
Far too much uneccesary information in your post, which only confuses things, a vast amount!
    Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

By the way, what does IOS mean? (I thought IO stood for operating system, but am flummoxed by the S on the end.
    Really?
OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.
