Strange tcp connections while downloading torrent

I was looking at netstat while downloading a torrent and saw some output that I do not understand:

192.168.1.13 is me. I may (am) just be ignorant as to how this works. But why is my machine making a connection to itself? Is that normal? I would be happy with any insight into this.

AFAIK, Deluge is a GUI for the libtorrent daemon.
The default port is "58846", just like in the Web UI example. And your ports (which are also in the 49152-65535 range) I think are like that because you set them that way, either from Preferences - Daemon - Daemon port, or from Preferences - Network.
Ah sorry for the vaguely low amount of information. Yes I am using deluge gtk gui and pdnsd. I do not have to start a daemon manually. So if it does start it would be due to opening deluge I guess. What I don't understand is the connections:
local ip adress --> local ip address
and
localhost --> localhost
The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the torrent "announce" tracker update while downloading maybe; but other than that I am lost as to why this happens.

I lost Internet connection while downloading a book through iBook app. Now it won't finish. If I go to the iBook store, the status says "downloading" I can't delete it or get it to download. Anyone have a suggestion?

I have the same problem, but it happened when I downloaded a sample of a book so I can not do the solution offered by Beachdogz. I would just buy the book but I can't because it says downloading so there's no buy option. Actually it says downloading downloading (twice) if that helps.

Sometimes it takes all day to download a torrent file can i leave the display on or should i turn it off and will my macbook keep downloading the file thank you

It's fine to leave it on but you can also just set the display to go to sleep and let your computer keep working. The settings are under *System Preferences* in *Energy Saver*. I usually have mine turn off after 15 minutes so it will rest while my download or other work continues.

What exactly do you mean when you say it isn't giving you the option to download, does it say it is already downloaded. If this is the case, then that suggests that the file is still somewhere in your iTunes library.

How to limit the number of TCP connections beeing used concurrently while a page is beeing loaded?

We manufacture industrial small-footprint control modules with embedded web server. The resources of these modules are very limited, especially in RAM. We have problem, that FF opens 15 parallel TCP connections while loading a web page (main html page first, then all icons simultaneously). We can not handle such behavior because of lack of RAM memory needed for TCP buffers.
Question is how to limit the number of concurrent TCP connections the browser will use? We need to do it somehow directly from the page, we can not push our customers to change the general settings of their browsers (they would not understand such things anyway).
Do anyone have any suggestion?

Sorry, one other thought. Many web designers now combine all icons into a single image and use CSS to clip the image so that only the desired portion is displayed. This minimizes the number of required connections and increases the probability that the image can be retrieved from cache.

IMac will not connect to update server or download torrents

I am very new to iMac and having problems connecting to the internet....I am in a rural area using satellite connection. It will connect to the internet so I can view websites however every time I try to update iTunes it is telling me it can not connect to the update server?
Also having same issues when trying to download torrents...It is showing on transmission however it will not download...it just sits there doing nothing and not connecting to anything?? How do i fix this??

Torrents unfortunately are primarily used for illegal trading of software and music. If you want to download legal software for the Mac, get it from places listed on my FAQ*:

They are also a back door to get spyware, and trojan horses on your machine. While very few exist for the Mac, they do exist, and Torrents and P2P software are the first line of attack, since they essentially establish your machine as a software download site on the internet. Sateliite internet does not have the bandwidth to handle torrents it regardless since the upstream is much slower than the downstream, and latency issues abound.

SLOW SPEEDS WHILE USING TORRENTS TO DOWNLOAD

Last week BT uncapped my service.
I believe im on a 16MB package, and my area can get up to 8MB I believe. My download rate it between 5-7MB.
However, when I download films using torrents, it always downloads slow (between 5kb - 50kb sometimes), then after midnight, or the early hours of the morning it can go to over 100kb...
during the day it always downloads low it is really really frustrting...
everything else is fast, streaming and the internet, but downloading torrents is so slow I do not understand why...
Is there anything I can do? Any firmware updates or anything like that?

I suggest you try the very clean and very forceful AutoLoader method:

Beware that it is completely destructive...the device will be "like new"...no data, no apps, no accounts, etc. Be sure you take a full backup first, as well as make full manual documentation of all apps, accounts, configurations, etc. Sometimes a restore reintroduces the very corruption one is trying to eliminate, and manual reconfiguration is necessary.
You can also use this to fall back to a prior OS if you desire...you can install any OS level for which you can find an AutoLoader. (Hint...search over on the CB site!)

Yes. Plug it into your computer and restore it. Once it's in recovery mode, that's your only option.
