Strange text offset bug in Leopard?

A few days ago I discovered this strange bug(?!) in both the iCal icon in the Dock and in iPhoto '09.
The date on the iCal icon are offset and the name of events in iPhoto.
It just came up from nowhere. The day before it was allright. So I reinstalled Leopard, iLife and so on... Everything was fine yesterday, but today the same thing happend.
The only installation I have made today is Adobe CS4 Master Suite. BUT I'm not sure if it happend after or before the installation.. Or maybe hours after the installation.
It's not a serious bug, but very very annoying. Any clues? Trixes? Fixes?
Images at: http://public.me.com/johannesroth/

The images were easy to view... thank you!
Did you by chance edit the images in a Photoshop app and then export them to iPhoto????
Did you have iPhoto 08 and upgrade? If so, try this, delete this file:
com.apple.iPhoto.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. See if the text is still off set.

  • Strange text

After I installed Snow Leopard, Safari renders specific pages and part of pages - strange.
    http://yfrog.com/53screenshot20090929at173p
I noticed that behaviour whenever I open files like css, txt, js or every content that is not HTML page. In this example picture the strange text is wrapped with code tag. Funny thing is that if I copy/paste that strange text into TextEdit as PlainText - it will look OK!
I tried running Safari in 32 bit mode and even using Rosetta. In some cases there is no strange text, actually there is no text at all!
FireFox, for example, has no problem with this, as I tested.
What could be a problem here and how should I fix this?

    sceleski -
    Check out this thread.
It's your Courier font, I believe.

  • Very strange text on screen - Server 10.2.8

One place I work has a Mac network based around a G4 1.25 Ghz server running 10.2.8 Server and some Mk II iMacs running normal 10.2.8. Yesterday when I came in the server was showing a black screen with the following text scrolling down the screen in great lines:
    diskOs9; Ox5 (UNDEFINED) <- written down in haste, I think I got the O as a letter not a number 0
... touching mouse or keyboard added further strange text and then it would return to the above.
Totday it all seems happy. But somehow I doubt if this is healthy. Any advice greatly appreciated. I'm trying to persuade the outgoing CEO not to set in train the acquisition of PCs, if only because I genuinely think it would end up costing more in the long run, and the place is hard up already!
I'm also wondering if the batteries on these machines are getting old - the network dates from 2003. Some of the last saved dates on the server are definitely totally wrong. Moreover there are strange things happening too; last week my files were dated things like 1911, 1942 etc etc, this week they are perfectly OK.
    Getting worried!

  • Nasty iCal bug in Leopard

    Hi
I think I have discovered a very nasty bug in Leopard iCal.
If I try to do any kind of search in iCal, by typing in the search word into the search field, the list of found items is empty, although I can clearly see the items dimmed in the month view. The same thing works fine in Tiger (10.4.10).
Exporting (backup database) the iCal data from Leopard or Tiger and importing it back (revert) into iCal does not help.
This one sure is a show stopper for me, unless there is some workaround.

More detail on the iCal black box problem.

  • Strange text display in pdf using adobe reader exported by Indesign CS5

    Hi there,
I have export an interactive pdf from indesign CS5 PC version with version 7 update, and it looks fine in most of the PC and Mac Adobe reader.
But 2 of the computer had strange text display. One is the iMAC with latest version of Adobe Reader
<== you can see the text "78" and "454" are abnormal
But with the same computer using Safari with perview plugin is showing following result:
<==you can see the text are normal.
The pdf is embedded with following fonts and property:
Another Windows XP with Adobe Acrobat 9 will had same display as the iMac.
I ensure the Windows XP don't have the font installed with HelveticaNeue and the Mac is using OS Lion Bundle with that font.
Now the customer blame it is the problem of the pdf created by me and I had no idea how to explain to my customer and find out solution.
I had a trial version of CC but same result and no error during the export.
Any idea is highly appreciate. The customer hotline and the live chat is hopeless as they send me to this community to ask since I use CS5 not the latest version.
    Regards,
    Ichi

    Thanks Willi,
I had the fonts of Helvetica Neue bold light etc which created by Adobe and the font was created in 1993,shown in font property.
my PDF output is set to interactive not the print one. Other settings are default.
the purpose of this PDF is for user to print out and read on website. The funny thing is print out had no problem at all with HP and Ricoh printer using PCL 6 driver.
Despite Safari, the strange font happened in only Adobe product, other PDF reader had no problem such as foxit reader, xchange reader.
I tried to not embed the font but not able to do indesign, search in Google, it said it always embedded. Also that font family is preloaded in Mac OS.
I can try any test if there is a way to find out the solution.
or what should I do so the PDF should display correctly in all computer
    thanks a lot.

  • Strange text when replying

    Hi,
I have a 3G S Iphone I just got last week. While using it this week it came to my attention that sometimes when I replied to an email that had a lot of activity (reply after reply, etc) strange text would appear on top of what I wrote. An example is the following,
    References: <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <00f401ca19 e4$c0706630$41513290$ @ com.mx> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]> <[email protected]>Content-Type: multipart/alternative;boundary=Apple-Mail-3--1026370481Content-Transfer-Encodin g: 7bitMime-Version: 1.0 (iPhone Mail 7A341)Date: Tue, 11 Aug 2009 12:20:49 -0500Cc:

    Then the text would appear.
Anyone have an idea of what is going on?
I haven't seen it happen when I reply to someone directly.
    Thanks

    So an update..
I took out the battery and reseated it. Simply blew on the connectors, not sure if it did anything. I plugged the battery back in and connected it to my PC and viola. Apple logo appears on the screen.
The phone boots up and displays the no sim error (I had removed the sim card) and starts to sync to iTunes. It gets mostly synced then this happened:
So... It sat like that for about two minutes before shutting itself off again. It is once again being completely unresponsive. I tried reseating the battery again but it hasn't helped.
Please, if anybody has any suggestions, let me know. Thank you!
    -edit-
I've managed to get the phone into recovery mode and doing a full restore right now as a new device. I'm beginning to think the lock button has something to do with this entire issue. It may be that it's stuck down somehow without the actual hardware part being stuck?

  • FCPX Text Animation Bug

    Hi Everyone!
I'm working through a 30+ minute video sequence showing photos and video clips of an event I attended recently.  This is my first foray into FCP.
I've come across a rather weird text animation bug, where text is animated onto the screen incorrectly.
So what I've shown above is one typical text box I've added for narration, using the "Typewriter" effect.  Of course, the text should render (appear) on screen one character at a time, but I have been getting a random number of characters at the end of the block that do not animate.  The only way I have been able to get these blocks to animate correctly is to add enough spaces to the end of the text to force FCPX to rerender the block correctly.
At some point in the future, this bug resurfaces, and I have to delete the spaces, and re-add them, to get the block to render and animate correctly once again.
If I go and "share" the resulting sequence, the bug is rendered into the sequence.
Deleting the text block, and adding a new block, doesn't seem to help.
I have reported this as a bug to Apple.
It's not just the Typewriter text effect doing this.  As far as I can see, it is every text effect bar the lower thirds (so far as I can see).
Any ideas on how to get around this?  Does anyone else experience this bug?

I'm starting to pull my hair out on this one.  My video is essentially ready for final rendering, but I've hit a snag re the rendering itself.
Check out this image I've just snapped:
    http://www.becsta.com/pics/skitch/FCPvCompressor-20110918-225758.jpg
On the left is the Compressor 4 preview pane.  Note that the text animations are screwed up, just like the screenshot at the start of this discussion.
On the right is the FCPX preview pane, showing that the rendering is complete and correct. All I did was select "Send to Compressor", and skipped the Compressor timeline up to review the same frame.
These text blocks are using the "Typewriter" effect.
So, what do I do to fix this once and for all?
Build it from scratch in Motion?
    Any ideas?

  • Strange text on many pages

i recently adjusted the text encoding settings within safari and now i'm experiencing some strange text on webpages. it will display some regular/normal text and it will also display other text as pictures (like wingdings).
fyi - i adjusted to UTF-8 and then to Western (Mac OS Roman).
what do i need to do?

You may have a font substitution problem. Make sure you get rid of Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic if you have them. Send me a screenshot if you like an I'll have a look (click on my name for the address).

  • Premier Pro CC 2014 - Strange duplicating sequence bug

    Hi
First post on the forum so sorry if I have done something wrong!
Currently working on a projection project and have a really strange aspect ratio sequence 3840 x 1080 (Twice as wide as 1080P). I have a central 1080P video clip and then have created two separate sequences to go either side to fill up to my full screen. The smaller sequences are 960 x 1080. See attached image!
I have come across a very strange and frustrating bug. The two 960 x 1080 sequences titled 'Right Small' and 'Left Small' and each have completely different video clips. However at a certain point the video which ever sequence I put on a lower layer will show outputting through the both 'Right Small' and 'Left Small' sequences. When I open up the sequences I can see them both playing separate clips however the video renders with the same image on either side. This is rendering on my timeline and on my export. I have tried deleting my render files but it stays the same. The only solution I have found is by starting one of the sequences one frame before the other and it fixes the problem!!!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Joe
First Image Shows how it should look at the start of the section where the two outer screens show the different content.
At this point in the video both sequences are duplicating each other showing the same clips even thought the top layer has completely different clips inside its sequence...

Right click on either one of the two nested sequences - Right Small or Left Small, and from the drop down menu, choose Render and Replace.
    Does that help?

  • Strange Text Behaviour

    Hi there,
So strange text behaviour here: http://screencast.com/t/atGbhTznY. I think the video is self explanatory. In Photoshop CS5 it shows the text size properly,
    Desired effect or defect ?
    Regards,
    SK

    Pattie,
Not to answer for Simeon, but this is different behavior in PsCS6.  Say you scale two  text layers (for example- 10 pt scaled 200%) and commit the scale. When you target each layer individually, the pt size reflects the scale (so it will appear around 20 pt). However. if you target BOTH text layers the font size is indicated as 10 pt - the original size before the scale. One would expect if you target 2 text layers of same font and size, the Character Panel would show the correct size, as happens in PsCS5.
    Steps to reproduce:
Open default RGB 8 bit document.
Select Type tool at default settings 12pt type. Type a word and commit type.
Type another word at same font and commit (you’ll now have two text layers, same font and size)
Target both text layers and Edit>Transform>Scale 200%. Commit the transform.
When each layer is targeted individually, the Type Tool Option bar (or Character Panel) shows the new, scaled size of 24pt
Shift click to target both the 24pt text layers… now Type Tool Option bar reverts to show 12 pt.
Expected behavior: that the Option Bar would show the new pt size of the two layers.

  • Strange text at top of tab

    HI,
There is strange text at the top of my tab which is very annoying I am not sure why this is occurring.
If you take a look at the pic I have uploaded you will see my issue with your web browser.
If you have any suggestions in resolving this issue please let me know?
    Thanks Daniel

Hello Daniel, '''the problem is mcafee site advisor extension''', please try to disable or remove that extension and you are OK.
see : [http://service.mcafee.com/faqdocument.aspx?id=TS100162 How to uninstall SiteAdvisor]
before that, check another option, '''if works for you, without to uninstall the mcafee site advisor extension''' :
disabled the add-on then close firefox and restart Firefox again. Then enable the add-on again, close firefox one more time and restart Firefox again. (works [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1039845#answer-673562 here] :-))

  • Strange text inserted in iPad email message

Today I started to reply to an email on my ipad....without my doing anything a strange sentence was inserted in my reply....it was a garbled sentence that included profanities.  Has anyone heard of this?  Our email was hacked recently and I used ESET antivirus software to scan our iMacs and external hard drives.  The scans found and quarantined a variant of WMA Trojan downloader on one iMac and its external hard drive.   Any advice on what I should do next?

Not sure what may be causing the strange text. But there have been no viruses reported that affect an iOS device.

  • Strange text, new iphone5

Just got my iphone yesterday and have been setting it up with apps, settings....normal stuff.  But every once in awhile I get a strange text from 90008000299 that says poll:XXXXXXX where the "x's" are random numbers and letters like hexadecimal code or something.  Anyone know if this is normal or how to go about getting it to stop?  Does it have something to do with software updates as I did one this morning and shortly after the phone restarted I got this message?

They told me to remove backup assistant plus from my account.  When I tried to do this, it wasn't on the account anyways so I didn't do anything and it stopped.
