Strange unwanted reflection in rendered animation

Hi all
I have searched the net and these forums for an aster and couldn't find it so have started a new thread, but apologies if the answer is out thee and I just didn't see it.
Every time I render this animation it outputs with the weird sheen/reflection bouncing off the clips as he camera pans around.   I don't have any lights in the composition, just a camera tied to a null object.  all layers are 3d with motion blur switched on.
The video is here:

Thanks for your help
Bill

As I say in the OP there are no lights - here is a screen shot of the layer properties
Each of the 12 videos has just been inserted as a separate layer.
Thanks

  • What happens to the rendered animated buttons on sub-menus

I am on a 3GB of memory MacBook Pro using Encore (CS3). Here is a description of how I have produced a working DVD...so far 3 out of 5 DVDs I have tried to render have worked.
ANYWAY...seems that Encore implodes when I try to render the same project more than one at a time. Encore chokes and I am back in the MAC OS.
HERE is my main question...every time it blows it seems to blow away the RENDERED ANIMATED BUTTONS on the secondary menu. SO each time I try this again I have to re-render the buttons taking about 1.5 hours. Why do I have to re-render...why aren't the rendered 2nd level menus SAVED.
To make it clear...after I rendered the menus...previewed...saw the buttons are animated...SAVED...try to write a DVD Disc from the Current Project...succeed...try to burn another DVD...it aborts (why...I have no idea)...I empty trash...bring up Encore again...try to preview the secondary menu...NO ANIMATION there so have to rerender and start all over.
I have been reading about compatibility of DVD disc, computer players and DVD players...what a PILE...without all the techies our there we can't make a dependable environment to create, burn and play DVDs...these companies should be ashamed...all they are doing is producing a whole bunch of frustrated producers (or lack of producing producers).
Can anyone shed a light on my problem!?!?
    Thanks, --bill
p.s. Are there better forums than here at Adobe? Seems I don't get many if any replies to queries.

    Bill,
A couple of questions, mainly to make sure that I understand what is happening.
1.) There are two files (an audio and a MOV), that show in the Orphanage, when you Check Project. Do they appear there BEFORE you Check Project, or only AFTER?
2.) Do they appear BEFORE in your Project Panel, or only AFTER you Check Project?
3.) Since they are Orphans, I assume that you do not intend to use them in this Project - right? Were they ever in the Project (Imported as Assets, or Timelines)?
4.) Was this Project started fresh, or did you modify an existing Project, to create it, say using a Save_As, etc.?
5.) If they were not Imported into this Project, were they Imported into another Project, that is/was being worked on coincidental to this one?
6.) Can you find these files on your system? Where are they located?
If 1.) is After and 2.) is After, then your Project might be corrupt. The Assets/Timelines/etc. are linked to the Project by XML. This can become corrupt for many reasons, most are often unknown - power dip, or hardware issue on Save, etc..
Two ways to check this theory, is to start the Project from scratch, and see what happens. Another is to use a freeware program, XML Wrench, and run the Project file through it. Aside from pointing out broken links, and other problems, it should also allow you to search for these files names in the body. Save a copy of the Project file, so you will have it untouched, and then remove any lines, that reference these files. Save_As (new Project name) and open that in Encore. Being on MAC, doesnt every data file have a finder file, associated with it? Could this finder file be cross-linked, in some way, to your real Assets?
It could be that there is a hardware issue, and this causes the links to the Rendered files to become broken, and also to link to files, that should not be included. Any other strange things with your system lately? I do not know the MAC folder/file structure, but can you do the equivalent of Windows Check Disk? If so, set it to find lost clusters, or whatever MAC calls them.
Also, being on PC, I do not know what utilities might be available for your OS, or what other programs might be causing a problem. On PCs, other DVD burning software, especially if their packet-writing applet is installed, can cause havoc with Encore and are discouraged. Anything else installed, and/or running, that you can think of?
Sorry to play twenty questions, but Id like to be as clear, as I can, on exactly what is happening, before I make too many more guesses.

  • Creating reflection for core animation layers?

Is there any example in the wild for creating reflections on core animation layers, like Coverflow's for example?
I have a bunch of layers I need to display at different distances from the "surface" and without reflection they just seem skewed instead of floating in 3D..

The buttons are still there, but they don't do what they were made to do. (show layer / hide layer)
What I'm doing is a map, with icons for the hydrants. When you click on the icon of the hydrant, a photo of the hydrant and it's pipes show up on the top right of the map. This is the layer that turns on and off when clicked on the button.
Is there something I can do to keep the layers working?
Thank you for the quick respons. I appreciate it!

  • CS6: Strange Artefacts in 3D renders - what is causing this and how to fix it?

    Hi all
I am creating 3D renders in PS CS6, and I am getting strange blocky artefacts in the renders. These appear on first pass and persist throughout the render. This has happened in the last 2 renders I have tried - I haven't used 3D for a while before this and I don't remember these before.
By blocky artefacts I don't mean the JPG artefacts created by the forum's degrading of the uploaded image, but the light coloured rectangular blocks around the "s",
On Win7x64 with latest PS CS6 update; NVidia 650M\2GB on a Core i7\8GB.
The attached example follows a YouTube tutorial on creating long shadow icons.
    Any advice appreciated!
    Thanks
    Richard

By the way, it might be helpful for you to show the steps that you followed to get to where you are.
What you're showing doesn't really look like a typical 3D rendering.  I'm assuming you sheared an extrusion to get that effect, because the type still looks face-on.  You must be viewing the object in Orthographic projection, because the diagonals don't converge.  Have you disabled all your light sources?
Could you put the .psd file online somewhere for others to take a look at?
This is what I'd expect a 3D extrusion to look like...
I didn't use Photoshop 3D before Photoshop CS6, so I can't speak to the level of reorganization made, though I've read the same comments from others.

  • Raytraced reflections not rendering motion blur

I'm pretty sure I've done comps before where motion blur was rendering in the raytraced reflections, but for this comp it doesn't seem to be working. It might be me that's missed something somewhere but I don't think so.
Have a look at the front game (layer 23, Game 05) - the game has motion blur but the reflection of it in the floor doesn't. The floor layer has motion blur switched on. The floor has a feathered mask on it but deleting it has no effect. Raytrace settings set to quality 8, tent.
    AE CC 2014, Windows 7, nVidia 780 6GB

Please file a feature request. We do want to enable this functionality in the future, but it requires a significant amount of work.
Currently AME can not access Render Settings-level controls in an After Effects comp. As you've found, AME will render your comp as it appears in the comp viewer panel in AE. I have provided a more elaborate answer here:

  • Revit rendered animation background

We exported a rendered walkthrough animation in Revit Arch 2011.  Export settings were 900x675, zoom 100%, and hidden lines.  It has a rendered sky background.  The exported video shows the sky fine when played, we brought it into Premiere and you can see the sky in the preview, but then it goes away when playing the video in the screen.  All the other objects (which are rendered modeled geometry) look fine.  It's just the background that goes away.  I've looked for a post on this, but can't find one.  What could be the problem?

Revit allows export animation using MS video 1 or uncompressed full frames.  We did
uncompressed full frames.  Revit allows you to choose your size,
we just picked something that fit in our view.
Pretty much new to premiere, we just downloaded the trial version Monday.
I don't know if it's SD or HD.
The wierd thing is you can play the video as exported and the background looks fine, load it into premiere and it looks fine in the preview, but not when it's playing.  We also exported it from premiere and has the same problem.  Backgrounds in Revit are not modeled objects, just an image file that is used during rendering.  It doesn't make sense that you can't see this background in premiere but you can when you play the video on it's own.
Hopefully someone has experienced this before.

  • Unwanted white box rendered before applet is initialised

With IE and Google chrome a white box is rendered before my applet is loaded/initialised. Is there any way of removing this or changing its color? My applet needs to be displayed on a blue background. The white rectangle is displayed even before any background image that is specified in the <applet> tag. With firefox everything works fine
    Thanks

Were you able to resolve this issue? I have the same problem.

  • Rendering Animation In photoshop cs3

I dont know how to render my animation as quicktime export, Help??

    Hi,
If you have photoshop cs3 extended, then File>Export>Render Video
Photoshop cs3 standard doesn't render quicktime.
Which operating system are you using?

  • AE CS6 on Windows8: H.264 Coded generated very strange frame rates when rendering

    funny things are happening:
I import 300 jpegs (canon 6D raw exported from LR as jpeg at max quality)
create a new composition (with 25fps)
render video in h.264 @25 fps
videos rendering works fine, plays well at external player.
drag and drop video from file explorer to AE project window:
    framerate: 0.081
how does that happen and more important: how can this be fixed?
even more funny: until using 200frames to render, frame rate ist at 25fps,
having more frames in the video, framerate goes down below 1 close to 0...
is there some know issues with the h264 codec in ae?
    thanks
    Claus

Definitely.  If you use a temporal (time based) codec like H264, the Render Queue will create inefficient results, as it can't look ahead or behind while it renders.  AME can, which means you get superior compression results.
If you need to render from the Render Queue - for example, if you're rendering multiple output segments and formats in one pass - then use an intermediate codec, then convert to H264 later using AME or any other decent compression tool.

  • Rendering animated vector graphics

    hi there.
i did an animated vector graphics - i prepared all vectors iamges in illustrator and animated them in after effects afterwards.
i am now about to export and i wonder what are the best settings.
for video i normally use quick time with animation codec and it seems just fine to me. but i am not sure if it is ok for the cartoon.
what codec to use for storing and publishing on the internet (youtube, vimeo)? what about swf? I red it is used to deliver animated vector graphics (such as cartoons) over the Internet - is that right?

SWF might be used if the cartoons were created in Flash. Since you've created it in AE, it's not likely to be the best choice for you.
The Animation codec is a good choice for a lossless render if you've made a cartoon. In fact, I wouldn't use it for anything with video footage and a cartoon is the most likely scenario in which I would use it.
You would want to take your lossless file and bring it into the Adobe Media Encoder to create your final, web-ready video. There are YouTube and Vimeo presets in the Adobe Media Encoder that you should use for uploading to the web.

  • Unwanted flash before captured animation

    I'm creating a movie with Captivate 1 but i have a big
    problem.
I had to record the movie in two files. If I look the two
movies one to one (separately) all is good.
I can see correctly the joint between an image and the
    following animation.
There is a problem when i try to assembly the two files.
I select all the frames and I use copy and paste from the
first file to the second file.
The animations already contained in the file go on correctly,
but the copied animations have some problems.
There is a terrible flash in the transition bettween an image
    the following animation.
    Could you help me, please?
Is there a solution for that?
    Thank you
    Galimba

I´m afraid your only way to avoid that is start your animation outside of page (and change animation mode to "From current Appearance"
That way image flicks but nobody sees that….
If you have to start your animation from inside the page area, I guess you could draw a box filled with background color on the top of you animated object. Then you add two animations intsead of one. First animation fades "mask"box and second one makes the actual animation....

  • Strange gray lines in rendered PDFs, driving me nuts!

I printed an Illustrator file to High Quality PDF but various gray lines seem to show up - primarily around text it would appear. Here is an image scrteen shot of the resultant PDF and the lines (rogue lines surrounded by red boxes):
    http:\\207.234.221.182\lines.jpg
    Any thoughts?

This comes up from time to time, but I don't recall that there is single identified cause and/or fix.
Can you post a sample file that demonstrates this problem? (Zip all files; include linked images or embed them.)
    Please state your Illustrator version.
Also, if you want your URLs to appear as links here, use forward (instead of backward) slashes, like so:

  • Strange Portal Favorites rendering problem

i have a strange problem with the rendering of the portal favorites iView, on our consolidation System the KM renders a iView icon in front of every entry in the favorites list (see attached image) . Has anybody an idea why this error occurs ?

    Hi Peter,
The next step would be to check that the layout set is set the same, and
that this resource render is getting used. You could turn on the debugging
settings to look at exactly which parameters are active by using the
"Rendering Information" link which then shows up. If you have 2 systems
running comparing these might be fruitful, since this should also tell you if
any OTH entries are overriding the settings.
If the resource renderer is set up that way, then is sounds like it is not being
    used or is being overridden.

  • How do I eliminate unwanted objects in shot?

    Hi all,
I have a tracking shot I want to utilize, but have to truncate this due to the fact that there is an unwanted reflection of a crew member in the chrome frame of the set table. Is the use of masks the most obvious solution to this problem and does this have to be implimented frame by frame? Any tips on ensuring the removal of these objects are seamless? Thank you in advance for any help?
    Ibook 1.2, 512 Meg, Lacie D2 250 gig Ext drive, FC 4.5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    I'm thinking that aftereffects has a motion tracker that can track a spot on the video where your unwanted object is, without seeing your footage, but making an assumption that a shinny mirror like surface was in fact what you had the reflection on, you could use the motion tracker to track the reflection and add a little blur and then a little tint possible to match the frames color;
    This would avoid the need for you to manually track the reflection, Motion tracking has flows in the way it devolopes keyframes, which will mean you will have the tweak the keyframs to get a smooth motion if the reflection is moving in the video frame;
However this could speed up your results.
    I used motion tracking before when I worked on a PC, mostly to overlay new video onto something like a TV image, or to add animation to follow someones hand that sort of stuff. I never used it to remove an object, however if a little blur fixes the issue, and all you have to do is decided where on each frame to add the blur, motion tracking would likly be a big help;
After effects Pro is what includes motion tracking:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/matrix.html
I hope this at least give you an idea of how to start, or triggers some thought from others...
p.s. you dont have to use the motion tracking data for a blur, you can use several points and have a mask created for you, or even use that data to clone from another video - once you have the data, you can generally be very creative with how you use that data in your footage.

  • Quicktime Player won't play Sketchup animations

After switching to Lion, Quicktime player renders animation .mov files exported from Sketchup as just black. I can get the movie to play by importing the .mov file into Final Cut Express, then re-exporting it as a .mov from that program. After doing that Quicktime Player plays the movie okay. What gives? Using OS10.7.2,  Quicktime 10.1, and Sketchup 8 on a Mac Pro.

I just uninstalled Flip4Mac and everything is working as it's supposed to. Very strange. Perhaps a conflict with Perian? But then again, QT didn't play the avi files with Perian installed. So, I guess the conflict is with Flip4Mac and something else.
    Thanks anyway
