Strangest most annoying problem!

I switched on my iBook G3 (10.4.3) this morning and it asked me for a password with the normal Mac login screen. It showed my username, but I had never set up a password. So I just press OK and left it blank. It didn't let me in.
So I tried to boot from the Tiger disc to use the password reset utility. I've done that a few times and it still will not let me in. I've typed the password in the login window as exactly the same as the one in the password reset utility. I've checked caps lock and num lock and it still won't let me in.
The last thing I done on the G3 was I installed some apple updates last night. I think it was a quicktime update, ipod updater, security update and an airport update.
Considering that was the only configuration settings made to mac I assume it has something to do with one of those updates.
I've had a search across tonnes of forums and cannot find any similar problems. Any Ideas?

Hi, Anthony.
Did you try repairing permissions on your hard drive while booted from the Tiger Install disc? It sounds like it could be a permissions issue. While there, you may want to repair your hard drive, too.
If this allows you to boot normally afterwards, then go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and repair permissions again.

Most annoying Problem Ever With New itunes update

I was updating itunes the other day to the latest version, once the update completed, i started to listening to music as you do, then the music stopped and itunes closed. ???? so i then installed it again once it wouldn't open and it wont install, when i install i am greeted by a message saying;
"There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to be completed could not be run. contact your support personnel or package vendor".
When i ok this, the install backtracks then installs again then it says itunes has been successfully installed on your computer....tidy!
But then when i try to open the program it tries to configure itunes the fails with the message "Fatal error 07" then even the shortcuts on the desktop fail.
I have searched extensively everywhere and done everything, uninstalled ever aspect of anything apple, bonjour etc. cleaned registry, disk cleanups. and it still fails.
If anyone has a solution to this problem i will be eternally grateful and you will be invited to my birthday party.
P.S - even bonjour doesnt work aswel as quicktime.

I have the same problem. Cannot clean Quick Time or Itunes to install new version and now I don't have Itunes. The Windows Clean up Utility is no longer available. QWuick Time is looking for cache files which is not there. I cannot use my Iphone.
Any help?

If you have any remote access software like VNC or TightVNC you may want to uninstall them and try the Excel program again. I had this issue and narrowed it down to the TightVNC program installed

Most annoying bugs and one mighty strange one!

Ok so ive tried using logic 8 for time sensitive projects but ive switched back to 7.2 for now due to a pretty long list of bugs, some of which i outlined in another post. but the most annoying for me are the following.
- on closing a project with alt/apple and W, the app quits everytime !?
- strange graphic redraw problems on the mix when changing values
- mixer mode / view changes when it feels like it.
- some prefs not remembered like track header modes.
- mixer channels dont sync to order of those on the arrange page (busses etc)
- my mackie control universal does not sync on selecting a buss.
- windows dont remember their positions and same with save/load, export/import locations.
- AND heres a weird one. on exporting a 2 track master from logic, i then usually trim in peak pro 5 ... this works fine but once trimmed it wont save (in peak) or re open in anything. i ve tried repeating this in logic 7 and no problem so it must be something logic is doing in the export ?? ive checked all permissions on the file etc and their normal. i can open the file on my pc just not in peak as i usually do. very weird.
i am clean installing logic on a new macpro this week so ill report if these are solved,
anyone else experienced these?

I'm so glad to finally hear someone confirm the problem with bus/auxes and control surfaces. I was beginning to think it was just me.
i'll add that packing a folder with multiple tracks and then unpacking it will duplicate the tracks.
also weird redraws just on scrolling through the mixer (example the 'EQ' text goes off center.

Expose "all windows" Annoying problem

I spent an hour and could not find another post on this problem. I am running the latest version of tiger and I have an imac g5 pre intel. I love expose and have a different command in all four corners. My problem is that the "all windows" feature continues to pop up when I don't ask for it. It usually happens when I have a few things going on but it should not happen unless I put my mouse in the corner that I specify. I am not even coming close to that corner and it just pops up all of the time and is probably one of the most annoying things I have encountered on a computer. Once it gets started it seems to pick up steam and do it even more. If anybody has some advice I would really appreciate it.

I had this problem right after I bought this machine. Apple replaced the mouse - same thing. It seemed to be fixed for a while - by a system update?, but has recently reoccured. Unplugging and reconnecting the mouse USB from the keyboard will work for a while. So will disabling the expose option in the mouse preferences but, no expose, it doesn't fix the bug. In my case it seems to happen at the end of the day after the computer has been running for hours(?).
This appears to me to be a software problem that Apple has yet to address.

I have a very annoying problem that occurs since 1-2 years. Now I want to get finally rid of this.
I bought the app "AllSport GPS" via BlackBerry App World in 2010. After the uninstallation of this app due to new devices one or two years ago I have the following problem:
On each (!) update of my list in the BlackBerry World app or after the reset and reload of the content of installed app I receive 1-5 (different amount) of mails with the following content:
AllSport GPS license key for your BlackBerry

This is VERY annoying! I also informed the publisher of the app (Trimble Outdoors) but they told me to contact BlackBerry. During the last 1-2 years - because I often refresh and look after new updates for my apps (I have many installed on my device) - I received, no fake, hundreds (!) of this annoying mails!
I bought the app with my older 9700 or 9790. In the meantime, on my Bold 9790, the app is not available any longer for this, so it is not shown in my BlackBerry World environment. In this case I could make a new clear installation and deletion of the app. But this is not possible.
It would be great if anybody of BlackBerry is reading this and could reset or delete the resending of this mail.
Are there other other thay also have this problem? Any suggestions?

Actually, this is a user-to-user forum. There are some BlackBerry employees who read these posts, but in most case you are only talking to other BlackBerry users.
So to solve your question, you will need somebody from BlackBerry, as most other users will not really be able to solve the problem. If you contacted BlackBerry Support, I guess the best thing is to wait for their answer. You can try tweeting to @BlackBerryHelp, in some cases they can reply to you faster. Or you can have their attention much faster.
I find it weird myself that you haven't contacted them before, as you say the problem is since a couple of years now.
I am afraid that you will not receive a lot more information on this forum (as this is a rather specific problem in my opinion). Except maybe if one of the BlackBerry employees on this forum notices this post.
I hope your problem is solved soon!

Connecting via Airport express: really annoying problem

I've got a really annoying problem that doesn't make much sense. Have an airport express and my network seems to work OK mostly. My iBook can always connect, never any problem. My eMac however is behaving bizzarely. The longer I'm connected, the worse my connection gets. Until it stops working altogether and I can't access the internet at all. System preferences tells me the Airport card is on, but is not connected to a network. Can still connect to it with the iBook.
Shut down, leave it a good while (a good while too, a short shut down doesn't do it), and it works again.
I can't even think where to start looking, all I can think of is that I have a problem with the Airport card in the eMac (something getting hot in there perhaps). Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure the card is seated properly (it works most of the time after all). I couldn't get it to work when I installed it because it wasn't seated properly, I pushed it in as far as it could possibly go and it has worked since (except after extended periods of use). The Airport express is three feet from the eMac with only a couple of bits of wood between them. The connection does not go down at times which I can link with the use of any particular appliances (When the eMac stops working, the iBook is always fine, even in a similar position). It is the apparently time-dependent aspect that I can't figure out (I only notice it on those, fairly infrequent, occasions when I am online for a few hours at a time). The eMac discussion group is a good tip. Ta.

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
What have you tried to fix it ? Have you tried closing the Videos app via the iPad's multitasking bar and seeing if it plays properly when you re-open then app ? Have you tried a soft-reset of your iPad ? If neither of those fix it then are you in a country where films can be redownloaded (assuming that it's not a rental) ? If you are then delete it from the Videos app and redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app.
If you can't redownload it (e.g. if it's a rental) then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

Invitation replies-annoying problem

When I change the status of an "invitation" event that I have placed on my calendar to "accept," the color of the event remains gray unless I email my acceptance. I don't want to email acceptances in most instances. Any way to address this annoying problem?

Hi,
I had a poke around on my system and even though the event is shown as being in a certain calendar it is actually stored somewhere else until it is accepted. The colour comes from being within a calendar. As an example uncheck all the calendars in your calendar list, the un-accepted event will still be there.
It may be better for you if the sender of the invitations Control-Clicks the event and chooses 'Mail Event' instead of using the email invitiation process.

My new speakers make the most annoying hissing noise!

I have just purchased a set of creative megaworks 250d, now having owned an older set of speakers from creative in the past (dt surround system) i had expected the same good quality sound and craftsmanship.
What did i get? The most annoying hissing sound in the world!
I switch my system on and it gives out an audible hiss which can be heard upto 5-10meters away, this is completely ridiculous and pretty much ruins any sound which isnt played at a loud level!
Ive contacted creative customer support who told me to return my product? well, fat use that is when i got my system from ebay and apparently the entire range does the same thing anyway?
Please no comments about how my system is setup wrong and whether i have power interference, because just to check this i've been to maplins today to buy a power conditioner/filter (which cost me ?100 i may add) and a ground loop isolator, neither of these made any difference at all, still the digital snake invades my ears every time i turn the system on.
Now i dont know what your trying to pull down at creative labs, but i can guarantee you wont be staying in the market lead making 'high quality computer audio products' that are by design defective. I want a valid solution to my problem please, i see 100 other threads on the internet concerning the same thing and quite frankly its not good enough. How much would it have cost you to install a pass filter inline to the amplifier to reduce this hiss? or is there one and its broken? is it the remote like some people are suggesting?

*BUMP* Any solution would be good? im fairly adept with electronics so dont mind taking the unit apart if a technician would like to tell me how to fix this hiss. Would a low pass filter on the speaker line be a good solution or maybe ferrite coils on the positve wire?, would either of those work before i go out and spend yet more money?

This is the fix I got from discussions and it worked for me. It is copied below. I just did the manual fix which I have underlined. Good luck! Regards, Belle.
This can occur because libmxl2.dll is not in your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support folder.
There have been some issues with this and other dlls not being in the right place (or not being everywhere they should be) since the 10.3.1.55 iTunes update.
However, I note that the 10.4 iTunes update is now out - surprisingly quickly - so try installing that, rebooting, and see if your issue is solved.
If it isn't, though, here's the manual fix:-
With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the libmxl2.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Reboot and see if all is well.
I actually had the issue with SQLite3.dll, and the above fix worked for me (I found it in an April 2010 posting!).
I passed on the fix as above for the similar issue with libmxl2.dll to someone who had exactly your problem, and he reported that it fixed it for him.

Unfortunately not. The only way we avoided this issue was to upgrade or write the text into a text editor and cut and paste the text into the section name box.

Move cursor onto video. Right click. Click Settings, Click the "never ask again" box. Then click Close. That will work.

The mouse is controlled by the OS so don't guess any app other than a mouse driver or OS X itself would be able to cause this sort of flicker issue.
Have you seen the following and is it what you are seeing? Maybe you could make a movie (Quicktime is great for this this to make a screen recording) - but not sure how to attach a movie to these discussions as mine is grayed out and can't be selected (to the right of the insert image). What kind of mouse are you using? Is the mouse driver up to date if it's a third party mouse?
