Streaks on photos when printing

I have a HP Photosmart D7100 Series---D7160.  It has truly been a good printer.  Recently it has started streaking down the right side of photo paper.  I thought it was the paper so I changed paper.  I used a different paper tray, but no change. I figured if there was a problem in the ink cartridges, it
would show up wherever the problem ink was dispersed. I wondered if it was in a roller.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Add the 2 pictures and 2 captions manually
Go to File>new>blank file. Enter width & height of your paper stock. Resolution should be (ideally) the same as that of the pictures. For printing, recommended range is 240-300px/in
For picture #1, go to Select>all, Edit>copy.
Open the blank file, go to Edit>paste
With the move tool, position the picture, and resize with the corner handles of the bounding box. Leave some room at the bottom for the caption
Do the same for picture #2
You should have 3 layers: Background, picture #1, picture #2
With the type tool, type the text for each picture and position
You should have 5 layers now
If the canvas is niot large enough, you can add to it via Image>resize>canvas size.

  • Centering photos when printing

How can I get photos to print centered on photo paper when using borders?  I always end up with a large area on either the right or the bottom, no matter what I do.  They print this way even if they show fine in Preview.  Very puzzled.  Thanks.

Check your paper feed that the paper guides are tight, for the best alignment. Unless you have a borderless printer, there will always be one edge where the gripper grabs the paper where you cannot print as far up to the edge.
Ifyou do have a borderlss printer, you might want to turn on borderless printing as in the last screen shots of this post.

  • Horizontal lines appear in photos when printed

I am having a problem with printing photos in an indesign document.  When the photos, jpeg files, are placed in the document and printed, there are faint black lines running horizontally across the photos at one-half inch increments.  These lines only run across the photos, not the rest of the document, and they do not appear when the photos are printed separate, i.e. not in an indesign document.  What can be causing this?  Is there some guide that I have accidentally turned on that could be causing this?
Thanks for any help on this matter.

The operating system is OS X.  The InDesign version is CS1 (educational version).  I don't know what it means for InDesign to be fully patched.  The printer is very basic, 2010 HP Photosmart Plus.  I do not believe it has a dragt mode (though I'm not quite sure what this is).
By fully patched I mean have you dowwloaded and installed the 3.0.1 update. Many, if not most, injet printers have a "draft" or "ink saver" setting in the print driver that uses less ink to save you money, and that can cause lines.

  • I have a 4500 G510n that leaves horizontal lines in photos when printing

When printing photos I get horizontal lines about 1/8 inch apart from the top to bottom.  I have tried to set the print quality to a better resolution  and it doesn't make any difference.

I understand you're getting horizontal lines when you print photos. I would take a look at this document.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Selecting size of photo when printing on HP Office Jet 6500A from an Ipad

Hi, I have just setup my Printer and tried to print a photo from an Ipad, the prints are only coming out in A4 full page size. I have searched the User Guide and cannot find any reference as to how I can print them out in any sizes, I would like to print in Postcard size. Can someone assist please. Many thanks.

Hello KenA! Here's a link to an HP printing article on printing from an Apple iPAD:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02784317&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang...
    Take note:
With AirPrint, you do not have the option to select different paper sizes. Paper and media sizes are automatically selected depending on the application you are using on your Apple device, your HP ePrint product, and the region in which you are using AirPrint.
For example, from Apple’s Photo application, if the HP ePrint product has a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint will use 4x6 inch photo media as the default paper size. If the product does not have a separate photo paper tray, AirPrint will use letter-size paper. If you are printing from Apple’s Safari browser, letter-size paper will be the default paper size in the US region, and A4 will be the default paper size in Europe.
If you are using the HP Eprint center:
All photos e-mailed with HP ePrint will print at a default size of 4 x 6 inches (101.6 x 152.4 mm).
If your HP ePrint-enabled printer does not have a separate photo paper tray, just make sure that photo paper is the only paper loaded in the tray when printing photos.

  • My problem using iPhoto Having the horizontal lines going through the  photo when printing of a website

My problem is using the I Photo and printing a picture with horizontal lines going through it

Your topic title and topic content are a bit confusing?  Are you printing a website page? That would be thru Safari or other browser.
Or is a photo from a website?  If so how was it imported into iPhoto?
Also what system and iPhoto version are your running?
Does the photo print correctly from Preview or other application?
What's the pixel dimensions of the image?
How much free space do you have on your boot drive?

  • Centering a photo when printing

I've cropped a photo (constrained as "square") and would like to print it as a 5" by 5" square centered on an 8-1/2" by 11" page. I can't seem to find the proper Print Setting to accomplish this. Am I missing something, is there a simple work-around, or is this just not possible in iPhoto?
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I just tried to see if I could center a photo on a letter page with iPhoto 7 and had no success. However I think you can do what you want with Preview.
1 - crop the photo to square and export to the desktop.
    2 - open with Preview.
3 - start the Print process
4 - in the print window select the Center Image checkbox
5 - click on the Scale radio button and enter a figure to reduce the image size to what you want. You may have to experiment to get 5" exactly. Start with 40% and go from there. (Note: when you enter the percentage click on another field to get the image to resize without printing).
With a little trial and error you should be able to get what you want.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Missing photos when printing to pdf or an HP LaserJet CP1515n

I have Aperture 2.1 running on an iMAC 3.06 24".
I have assembled my first Book with a view to printing it and then Binding it (Apple do not provide the online ordering facility for books for most countries worldwide, but that's another frustrating story for another day....).
After completing the book I tried printing and only the template appeared with borders showing where the pictures should be. I tried printing to pdf, as I thought there must be an issue with the printer interface, but I found the same issue.
I then went through all of the pictures in my Snapshots Theme (71 in total) and "brought them forward" with the "+1" tab. I printed to pdf again and this time the pictures were shown. I then did some further edits on a few pictures, and boldly (thinking that all was OK) started a print job with Manual Duplexing. But lo and behold, the template printed without the pictures once more.
It isn't obvious to me what I am doing wrong or whether there is a bug. Your help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For anyone interested in my noted problem, through trial and error I have found that the issue does not appear to be with the Laser Printer - it is with the ColorSync Profile settings. I have chosen to lighten the images printed using "Lightness Increase", but I have since discovered that the problem is there with any profile other than "System Managed".
The interesting point is that if you print an image and change the ColorSync Profile to "Lightness Increase" then the photo prints perfectly. The problem is firmly with printing Books. When you change the ColorSync Profile to "Lightness Increase" here, then photos are not shown on top of the backing templates such as "Snapshot".
It is confirmed that the problem can be presented in the Preview mode without even selecting a Printer. This appears to be a software bug that I do not yet have a workaround for - if I do get one, or someone figures it out for me, please let me know.
Incidentally, in my search to point fingers at my new HP CP1515n, a new Firmware version is required if the firmware is older March 2008. My firmware is dated December 2007, but when I tried to load the new version, it was rejected on the basis that I am running Mac OS X later than 10.4.x......!
Come on HP - you can do better than that surely. Whatever happened to "or the latest OS"?
I hope this helps someone who may be experiencing similar issues.

  • Iphoto 9.4.1 solarizes photos when printing cards

I attempted to create a card in iphoto 9.4.1 on my MacBook Pro (10.7) and the photos appear solarized. I then tried to reprint a card created previously and it, too, is now solarized, although when I printed it last Father's Day, it was fine. Anyone know a solution? Thanks in advance.

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then your current library is the culprit and you should try the following:  make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

    Hi -
I can't tell from your post which specific jam you are experiencing.
I found the following on the HP.com support web site at
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c01450544&jumpi...
On this page are a lot of possible jam causes and solutions.  This one is a description I think sounds similar to your report.
    Common causes of jams
Cause: When printing on lightweight paper or on jobs with heavy toner coverage, paper is wrapping on the fuser causing Fuser Delay Jam or Fuser Wrap Jam messages.
Solution: Set the LIGHT MEDIA optimize mode on the Print Quality menu to ON .
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Trouble with viewing font on spine of Photo book.  I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the book itself when printed.

I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the photo book itself.  When I preview the book it appears on the dustcover and the book, but not when I'm back in the creation or editing windows.  I've printed 4 books in a series and two spines are one font size, and two others are a different font size.  One of the books has a shortened title on the book spine.

The text on the spine will be the same text that is in the Title text box on the title page.  You can change the font and style of that text just like you change any text in Aperture. Aperture will size and center the spine text for you
If you want the content or the font and style  of the text to be different from your Title box text then you have to trick the program a bit.  Put the text that you want in the spine into the Title text box and then move that box to a place on the page where it will not be visible when printed ( Y coordinate -1.0 inches for example).  Don't move it too far away or it will be hard to get back to in order to make an edit.    Then make a new text box on the title page and put the text you want on the cover in that.  (Or make a book without text on the cover , but with text on the spine).
You are 100% correct in that you can not preview this unless you preview the printed book

  • Changing case when printing on Photos..( Elements4)

This sounds silly but when printing on photos (elements 4) the font is most often in UPPER CASE and I am not able to change it... AND NO...my keyboard caps lock is NOT on . Help please!!! This is driving me crazy...

Reports allows you to position the objects anywhere you want on the page. The only reason that objects move up the page is because they are anchored to objects above them. When those objects don't print, the objects that come after move up.
You can create an object that prints on all pages but has no line and no fill color. This can then be used to reduce the amount the master frame can shrink by. (Make sure it prints on all pages. You might need to create seperate frames to surround the fields you want to see and the transparent field - then another to surround them both).
If you know the position that you want the details to print then you can position the detail objects in the appropriate location and change the properties against the frame that surrounds he detail section as follows:
"Base Printing On" to "Enclosing Object"
"Print Object On" to "All Pages"
Alternatively, create an explicit anchor between the frame and the top of the report.
Finally, if you want to parameterise the position of the detail records, you need to create field that dynamically re-sizes to push everything below it down by the required amount.
    - create a field object that is at the same level as the master objects
    - set the "print object on" propert to "All but First Page"
    - set the source of the field to something like "desformat".
    - then use the srw.set_field_char(0, "<some text with a number of returns>"); in the format trigger
This allows you to push everything below the field down by any desired amount.
