Stream from atv to antother tv

Im using my atv in the livingroom where the main tv is. But I sometimes want to stream the atv content to my bedroom tv. Is there a device that can make this possble. That doesnt cost more that a new atv in it self.

No as that is not how the ATV is designed. However there are other products that can send stuff from your computer to your TV, but will have nothing to do with the ATV.

  • Streaming from Atv to Macbook

    Hi guys,
I would like to buy an Apple TV, but before i do, i have one question.
If I put all my music from my macbook to the hard drive of apple tv (so i won't have any music on my macbook), will I be able to listen to this music with my macbook (with streaming from apple tv?)
I was looking for solutions in the previous topics but i didn't find anything...
    Thank you !

very bad idea. the TV should not hold the only copy of your precious media files. if you need to make room on your startup disk, move e.g. your iTunes library to an external HD hanging off your Mac.
check this read on how to transfer your iTunes library.
will I be able to listen to this music with my macbook (with streaming from apple tv?)
no. TV can stream music to another TV or Airport Express units but not to your computer.

  • Stream from ATV

In 2.3 your supposed to be able to stream FROM the Apple TV to AirTunes devices???
    How do you do this?

You need to turn airtunes on in your settings and then any speakers which can be accessed by wifi will be listed on your tv.

  • Music plays slowly on Apple TV with Remote or Streaming from ATV

When using Apple's Remote application on my iPhone or when selecting streamed playlists from my Apple TV the music plays slowly. It plays with no interruptions, what I mean is that the tempo is off. I do not have this problem when selecting and streaming through AirTunes to the AppleTV from my Mac Pro.
This started to happen with iTunes8...
Anyone else notice this? It is truly irritating to listen to music when it just isn't up to speed.

I appreciate that in a pc environment with a full blown operating system you shouldn't really need to restart to diagnose faults, however I believe we are all going to need to get used to restarting consumer gadgets on a regular basis. I've been in the habit of restarting my phone every day for around five or six years now and I didn't stop when I got my iphone.

  • Can't Get ATV to Stream from iTunes

OK, I can't get my ATV to stream from my iTunes. when I initially set up the ATV, it synced to my iTunes. I actually don't recall any option to sync or stream, but makbe I missed it.
Anyway, the help says the following:
"Playing your iTunes library on your TV using Apple TV
If you have an Apple TV, you can stream items from your iTunes library to your TV. You can also sync your Apple TV with your iTunes library so that content is automatically loaded onto your Apple TV.
Syncing your Apple TV with iTunes
If your Apple TV is synced with an iTunes library, it is already set up for streaming. You can also stream items from an iTunes library that isn't synced with your Apple TV. You can stream from up to five iTunes libraries, plus the library the Apple TV is synced with.
To set up your Apple TV for streaming:
Make sure the computer you want to stream from is on, and iTunes is open.
On your Apple TV, choose Sources, choose "Connect to New iTunes," and make a note of the passcode displayed.
In iTunes, select the Apple TV with "Click to set up" next to it, and enter the passcode.
While content is being streamed, the computer must remain on and iTunes must remain open. If you stream content while Apple TV is syncing, the sync pauses until streaming stops.
You can stream from only one iTunes library at a time. To stream from a different library, choose Sources on your Apple TV and then choose another source."
    Now, here is the problem:
    1. It says "If your Apple TV is synced with an iTunes library, it is already set up for streaming." NOT. No where do I see any stream or share selection. Only sync.
    2. It says "You can stream from up to five iTunes libraries, plus the library the Apple TV is synced with." Again, not that I can see.
    3. It says "On your Apple TV, choose Sources, choose "Connect to New iTunes," and make a note of the passcode displayed." I don't have a "Sources" option anywhere in ATV. How am I supposed to select it?? All I have is a "Computers" selection, which shows me my current selected computer for synching, and another option to share a library, with a new passcode. But, only to a second computer, not my main one (where all the files are!).
I don't understand. It's like it's referring to some other device, with different menus. Now, I have ver 2.0 of ATV, and 7.6 of iTunes. WHAT IS GOING ON?
I purchased this thing to take advantage of streaming, for photos and video. I only bought the 32 GB unit, but even the 160 would not be bug enough to have all my photos and HD video. So, streaming is a must. But, it would be nice to also sync the music files so I can listen to them without having the computer on. If the thing functed like the manual says, I would be happy. But, it doesn't.
    HELP!!

Good news- this is all so much simpler that you think. (I know because I too struggled with it for days.) It turns ou that you have to do NOTHING to set up streaming with 2.0. Once you have synced your computer, just leave your computer running and on your TV using ATV you will see whatever movies you have imported into iTunes in the movie menu even if you have not synced them. The only way that you can tell that they are not synced is that when you select them to play the streaming bar will appear briefly at the bottom of your TV screen to indicate that it is being synced. If you turn your computer off the movie that you have chosen would not even appear in the menu.
Hope this helps- it is too bad apple doesn't give more info about using ATV!

  • Apple TV 2 all of a sudden has trouble streaming.  I stream from my desktop computer's iTunes for movies, and tonight it started stopping randomly mid movie and saying it wasn't connected.  Any ideas?  Router?  ATV dying?

Apple TV 2 all of a sudden has trouble streaming.  I stream from my desktop computer's iTunes for movies, and tonight it started stopping randomly mid movie and saying it wasn't connected.  Any ideas?  Router?  ATV dying?
It just says not connected, and as soon as it bails to menu, it connects again and will play for another minute before doing the same thing all over again.

    Hello David,
Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your Apple TV is having trouble streaming videos from iTunes on your computer. This symptom could have a variety of causes, and I'd suggest the following initial troubleshooting steps.
In addition to restarting your devices (Apple TV, computer, router), try the tips in this article, starting with "Check your home network:"

  • Can I stream to ATV from my AirPort?

I am using AirPort (2TB) to store video, music and photos. Can I stream video or music directly from the AirPort or do I need to put the files into iTunes and stream from there? I am currently using eyeTVHD to convert old VHS tapes into DVD. I am saving them so they can be played on ATV. Just don't want to fill my MacBook's HD with all the files. THanks.

AppleTV is fed all it's media by iTunes whether this is synced or streamed to it.
AppleTV cannot access network shares/external drives etc by itself.
You can do what you want to in theory by changing iTunes Preferences>Advanced so that media is not copied to the iTunes library which presumably resides on your Macbook - add the stuff from the Airport to iTunes and it will just keep a reference of file location to use when streaming or syncing.
Synced material, once transferred does not need iTunes to play, but to stream additional content requires itunes running.
Note - you say you're converting old video to DVD - AppleTV cannot play DVD media folders, and doesn't handle menus (except for some new iTunes Store movies) - you might need to convert your home made DVDs to h264 format. Better still would be to export the project to a physical DVD but also to create an AppleTV compatible format fro use with that - EyeOne software used to have an option to edit and convert for AppleTV but I don't have the recent update.

  • Airplay audio streaming from Iphone to ATV crashes when changing randomly title?

Why does airplay audio streaming from Iphone 4S iOS 7.04 crashes when changing randomly title? The ATV is not connected to a TV, only to an AV Receiver. Anywhere the same problem?
    Thx a lot

Oops - I messed up the title-
This is with iOS 7.0.2 and Apple TV 6.0.

  • No streaming from iTunes to my ATV

All was well until I "upgraded" to Lion AND the latest iTunes update, now there is no streaming from itunes to my ATV. Any ideas? Thanks FR

Capaho's right. You won't have to turn on TV at all, unless you want to put it in Standby. You are supposed to be able to put it in standby by holding plat button, i believe, for like 5 seconds. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you lose all your files, like what happened to me last week.
Things could be different with new firmware, haven't d'loaded it yet.

  • Stream from iMac to 2 different ATV's; different movies, at the same time?

Can I stream  from my iTunes library on my mid 2014 iMac; to two different 3rd gen ATV's, two different movies at the same time?

Thank you Alley_Cat for your reply!
Yes...all devices are enabled for Home Sharing with the same APPLE ID, all on the same network, the content is in iTunes and compatible, computer and iTunes running, and I am initiating playback on the AppleTVs themselves via the Computers icon.
playback is is fine on 1st ATV. When I TRY to connect to ATV #2... and try to connect to my iTunes library i get:
COULD NOT CONNECT TO _______ LIBRARY MAKE SURE COMPUTER IS ON THE SAME NETWORK AND ITUNES IS UP TO DATE AND ITUNES IS RUNNING.
iTunes is up to date ver11.3.1.(2) .  As noted before, same network iTunes compatible, running and initiating playback on ATV's via Computers icon.

  • HT3819 video stream from amazon prime to my TV

i want to video stream from amazon prime to my TV  via my ipad, mac book using my apple TV device..

there is no reason to get rid of Apple devices, not when a Chromecast, Roku, or FireTV can be acquired so cheaply.
This is a true statement, but this is a bad option in the long term since your content will be split between different sources, DRM rules, apps, access options, etc.  You are going to constantly be running into issues were you want to watch a show that is not available on the device (phone, tablet, etc) you are on.  I share "Disgusted_with_apple" frustrations in that Apple has not updated in three years now leaving Amazon FireTV and others with better interfaces and features but having my content locked into Apple's DRM.
Apple was really first to market with a viable TV interface device, and has completely turned the market over to its competitors just by not showing up.  And now ATV can not play content, or provide features that ALL of the competitors have.   I recently bought an Amazon FireTV and love it.  The only advantage Apple has left is the iTunes Store still has more content, but that is not likely to last.

  • Apple TV: Sync with iMac & stream from PC/Vista?

Happy New Year to all --
I have my main iTunes library on my Mac (box iMac, not portable) upstairs, and I have been syncing that library to my Apple TV downstairs. The syncing occurs, and I can listen to my library through my speakers which are connected to my Apple TV. This is setup fine. The only thing I don't like is that the Apple TV's options for playback are very limited.
I have a subset of my library on my laptop PC (running Vista). As this is portable, I'd sometimes like to stream music from this PC to my remote speakers which are connected to my Apple TV. Then I can use the iTunes interface on the portable to make playlists, plan upcoming songs, etc. on the portable and have the music streamed to the Apple TV and out the speakers. This I cannot get to work consistently.
So, I want to sync to one computer and stream from another. I do not have to do this simultaneously of course, I just want the flexibility that the iTunes interface has to offer, closer to the listening area.
I have tried many, many things. Rarely I can get the PC's iTunes to recognize the Apple TV, but when it does, the streaming is unlistenable (consistent dropouts). Today I haven't been able to get iTunes to even recognize the Apple TV's existence. I have rebooted everything (incl network/router), made sure all SW is up to date, changed channels, made sure PC is looking for the Apple TV, made sure UDP 5353 is open, etc etc. to no avail. My network is 802.11g and the signal is strong everywhere.
I thought this was possible, even desirable, and I also thought that the days of lousy audio streaming was largely over, since video is now being streamed with some success. My network is busy (two tivos, three computers, PS3, Apple TV) but not using a lot of the bandwidth most of the time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

    David
    Multicast rate.
The multicast rate determines the minimum data transfer speed allowable for a transfer to take place, setting a high value may well make a more robust network but it may simply never allow a transfer if this is too high. I have mine set at 2 Mbps (although I can't be sure you have such an option on your router - sorry I thought you were using an airport.
    Channel
I couldn't suggest a channel, it all depends on which channels those around you are using, you'll likely need to try a few options unless you actually know what all the other networks around you are using. Other devices (cordless phones, microwaves etc) can also cause interference.
Is it common to be able to stream to the ATV (i.e. see it in the remote speakers pull down menu at the bottom) but not have it recognized as a device in iTunes (i.e. in the left column)? That's what sometimes happens to me.
I wouldn't actually know, I've never had any problems with networking my tv's, although network requirements for the tv and airtunes are not the same, so I suppose it's entirely possible that airtunes will be available while you are unable to access the tv.

  • Is there any way to stream FROM my Apple TV TO my iPad?

Is there any way to stream FROM my Apple TV TO my iPad? I know I can stream from the pad to the TV, but I haven't seen anything that lets me do it vice-versa. I want to stream while my computer is off/asleep. I don't want to keep my computer awake all the time simply to be prepared for the random moment when I want to watch a movie but I'm not in a position to go turn on my computer and turn on iTunes. If my Apple TV could stream the movies and music, that would suit my needs, but it looks like that feature isn't available. Does anyone know how to work around it using either Apple or 3rd-party software/hardware?

You can use Apples Remote app to stream any macs iTunes library to ATV1 but only second gen ATV,s are capable of streaming direct from iOS devices.

  • Syncing & Streaming from the same Library? - Noob question

Good Evening - I have a silly noob question that I can't believe I can't find the answer to on my own: I have been trying to determine if it is possible to sync and stream from the same library simultaneously.
I purchased the 40GB aTV and it has been syncing just fine with my Windows iTunes. I told it not to sync a few albums I never listen to so I wouldn't have issues with other songs or movies. I am upgrading to a new iMac and I am am going to re-rip many of my existing CD's to get them into a consistent audio quality of 192 AAC or above. This is going to push my library size to well over the 40GB limit in just music, not including any movies or TV shows I choose to pull in.
The manual does not make it obvious (or I am not reading clearly) what happens to items that don't sync over - I assume they are still playable but will have to stream. Is there anyway to mark "preferred" albums or artists that should get synced and not streamed in case the iTunes library is unavailable for whatever reason?
Also, when I change libraries is the aTV going to completely re-sync even though the music is must going to be migrated?
Thanks for taking the time to answer these silly questions.

That's not quite what I was looking for.
My question remains, what happens to the items that can't be synced from my main library to my aTV? My library is just a smidge bigger than the available space on the aTV and not everything syncs over. Does that mean I won't be able to play those items not synced from my main library...
As my library grows I don't want to have to choose what does and doesn't get synced from my library by mood. For example, every year my wife buys new christmas music - right now I could exclude it and everything else gets copied over, but come thanksgiving that stuff better be there for her and I don't want to choose other music or movies to remove.
I guess I will just have to play to try it out.

  • Stream from Macbook Pro to AppleTV with no internet

Help, I have just moved temporarily to a house with no wireless internet access. I want to stream content from my Macbook Pro to my apple tv, but it doesnt show up on the AppleTVs computer choices. At my old place with an iMac sharing internet connection everything was fine. Do I need an internet connection to stream to ATV? What can I do to get the ATV adn Macbook pro to talk to each other.
Ive tried an ethernet cable between the two which is fine, except my itunes purchases wont copy because they cant authorize through the internet.

    cchoppmann wrote:

I suspect you need to configure the computer to 'create a network', then join the Apple TV to that network.
except my itunes purchases wont copy because they cant authorize through the internet.
I think this problem will exist whether you have wireless connection between the ATV and the computer or not.
