Stream internet radio through garageband iOS

How can I listen to internet radio through garageband on iPhone so that I can use the eq

You just need to setup the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) as a "wireless client."
To set up AirTunes on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), using the AirPort Admin Utility, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
AirPort tab
- Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
- Wireless Mode: Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)
- Wireless Network: <select the existing wireless network>
Music tab
- Enable AirTunes on this base station (checked)
- Enable AirTunes over the Ethernet port (optional)
- iTunes Speaker Name: <whatever you wish>
- iTunes Speaker Password (optional)
In iTunes:
iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
- Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)

  • Streamng internet radio through Apple TV

I would like to use my new Apple TV to stream internet radio over my home audio system. But when I look at my internet radio playlist on the Apple TV, I get the message "No songs in this playlist". The radio streams are fine through iTunes. Am I missing something or is this just not possible? If not, why?

To stream radio stations you need to create a playlist and then drag and drop the stations to the list. To do that go to iTunes radio and copy and paste to the playlist. If you don't know how to do this I can further explain. Tip: Name the playlist "-Radio" and then the list will appear before the rest of them for easy access. Its the dash that does it.

this issue just arose over the last month or so and no changes have been made to my bandwidth.
    Except for the following possibiblites:
Your bandwidth might be being throttled by your internet provider.
Your internet may have a fault.
Perhaps your Wi-Fi security has been breached by someone nearby.
Perhaps the other services (Grooveshark and Spotify) use a lower bandwith (I don't know).
For numbers 1 & 2, try a speed check to see if your internet connection is as fast as it's supposed to be.
For number 3, change your password to your Wi-Fi.
For number 4, check the Bit Rate of each stream.
On the other hand, if this new information that you added is fact ( it actually occurs if I even listen to music from my iTunes library, not just internet radio ), then perhaps iTunes is at fault and the best fix may be to repair iTunes.
To repair iTunes, download the iTunes installer and when you run it, use the Repair option.

  • IPod speaker/dock that can wirelessly stream internet radio from our Apple TV?

Our Apple TV 2 is downstairs. I use it to listen to internet radio streams all day. I'd love a speaker system for upstairs that can dock and play iPods, but also stream internet radio from the Apple TV downstairs. Does such a product exist? TIA for any pointers.

Your church services presumably have a specific internet address which you view in a browser?
If so and you have a fairly new iMac you could start playback on the iMac in a browser and use Airplay Mirroring to send a 'copy' of what is on-screen to your TV using AppleTV to display it.  The same would apply to modern iPhones (4s and later) and newer iPads provided the phone can play them in a browser (maybe not if the stream id Flash based).
    AirPlay Mirroring
Requires a second-generation Apple TV or later. Supports the following Mac models:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
AppleTV does not have an internet browser.  It is primarily a device to play content from your local iTunes library or from iTunes store via the internet (purchases or rentals).  It does have certain 'channels' like YouTube, Netflix etc which you are probably not interested in.
AppleTV needs to be connected to the same network as the iMac.
If your iMac is too old for Airplay Mirroring, something like AirParrot might work in software.

  • Can i play internet radio through my airport to my stereo?

Can i play internet radio through my airport to my stereo? ps I am not very technical so easy answers would be appreciated.
    Thanks

For the block party we just had I was doing just that. I already had a wireless network in my house so what I did was connected an Airport Express to my wireless network in my garage. The Airport Express has an audio jack on it. To this jack, I connected my amp and speakers down in the garage. I was then able to connect iTunes to the speakers over the wireless network.
One additional benefit was that using the Remote app on my iPhone I was able to control my iTunes remotely from the garage to change music from downstairs.
It all worked like a charm.

  • Playing internet radio through airport to my stereo?

I play itunes through airport to my stereo. Can I play my internet radio station through airport?
    Thanks,
    Ernie

I'm curious about this as I am sure I was able to play a radio station streaming through iTunes to my AX the other day. I tried this evening and it didn't work. I was able to play a song ripped by iTunes, and switched back to the streaming radio which did play through my computer speakers, but not to the AX.
I know AX won't play video clips (sound) from iTunes....
So, I think I figured it out- AirTunes will play MPEG based streaming audio through the AX, but will not play streams with "Kind" being QuickTime. Unfortunate that my two favorite stations are both QT streamed audio, and these were the two I kept trying to get to work when I thought the problem was the AX or the stereo it was plugged into.
This also explains why I was getting audio through my computer even when it was not selected in iTunes, it only happens when the QT audio can't play through the AirTunes.
Any further thoughts or work arounds for this?
Funny, I found nothing about this in my searches regarding this problem (other than video clip's audio won't play and require Airfoil).
    Joel.

But I keep getting an error "missing Gstreamer plug-in"
I have most of the plug-ins already installed so I don't understand why its not playing. All of my other media will play with no problems, I only have an issue with streaming radio links or .pls files.

Actually I've tried both ways and I get the same error.
Just to be sure... can anyone try that link to see if it works with their Pragha setup?

  • Internet radio through a Yamaha amp connected to a airport express using a ethernet cable

I am trying to connect my new Yamaha amp to my 5 year old "g" airport express to access Internet radio via ethernet cable, my internet runs from a adsl modem to a 5 gen airport extreme "n" then wireless to the express, both hooked up together ok but can not get the Internet working through the Ethernet cable, I have also tried other devices on the same ethernet cable with no success. Do I Need to upgrade to a new generation airport express for this to work??

Yes. The older Express does not have the Ethernet feature that you need.

  • I stream Internet radio from my iPad air to Bluetooth speaker.  Can anyone suggest the best EQ app to use to enhance the sound.  Thanks

I stream Internet raidiot from iPad air to Bluetooth speakers.  Can anyone suggest the best EQ app to use to enhance the sound.
    THanks

Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

  • Adobe Flash Player required for streamed internet radio broadcasts

I am not well-versed in the technical aspects of why Adobe Flash Player is not allowed on the iPad2 (and other Apple devices). But I don't
understand how "damaging" is would be to allow its use to enable an iPad2 user to listen to streamed radio broadcasts which--apparently--require Adobe Flash Player.

A quick search of the forum will give you numerous threads that explain the issue. In fact, just look at a couple in the More Like This box to the right of your post.
    Best of luck.

Does nokia has quality assurance guys???
    Firmware: 20.149.051.1
    Nokia n78, n79

Hi there, thankyou for your report on the bugs, here is my response (I too have updated to the latest v20.149 firmware):
    1.  this streaming internet radio feature has been removed since firmware 12.046 and has not appeared since. i believe, along with many other users here, that this is due to copyright issues, so by deactivating streaming of internet radio they are complying with appropriate copyright controls. it would be nice to stream internet radio through the FM transmitter but this probably will not come back
    2.  I found the same thing, i really do wish that it would stream all sounds from the phone, especially from the Maps application because the speaker is tinny. so maybe they can do something about this in subsequent firmware updates.
    3.  I find that the FM transmission power is variable, and not has increased/decreased with firmware updates. this is due to many factors, for example, it is summer here in Australia, and i have found that on really hot & hot and humid days that the FM transmitter struggles to send an adequate signal. hgowever, on cooler days the signal is strong and works well. I have tried this on both my car and standalone stereo in my home.
I hope these help you shed  a bit more light on the issues, but I am as always holding out for the v30 firmware very soon

  • Streaming radio through Safari via Windows Media?

I am trying again and again to try and get some streaming internet radio (non itunes stations) on my system at work, and have no luck.
I am using Safari and have the latest version of Windows Media Player for Macs installed. Yet, everytime it tries to load I am given this message :
The page “------” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:
it leads me to the Windows Media page and no plug-in seems to exist.
Is there an application I could use to direct any internet radio streams through iTunes? or any other methods I could use to listen to the radio?
any and all help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hi, jason, welcome to Apple's user-to-user discussion forums.
As Jim said, there are some WMP formats (codecs) that are not supported in WMP/Mac, which was last updated three years ago. This is especially true for any Windows media with current Microsoft digital rights management which Microsoft has said will never be available for the Macintosh.
There can be problems even with formats WMP/Mac supports. Bad coding can be one of the problems. Microsoft says that WMP/Mac, for example, will often reject a poorly coded asx file while the same file would be played by WMP/Win. And playing Windows media can be inconsistent. I have seen cases in which a file would play on a computer one day and not the next, or one one Mac but not the next.
As Microsoft is no longer developing WMP/Mac, they are recommending the now free Flip4Mac plugin and player. This plugin is supposed to play Windows streams through Quicktime, but it does not work consistently so I and some others have disabled it for streams which can be done in the preference pane that is added to System Preferences. Other users have had not problems using Flip4Mac for streams. I still use the desktop Flip4Mac viewer which has not caused me any problems.

  • Phone calls keep triggering Internet radio apps on hangup.

When I get off of a call, the last streaming Internet radio station in any app I've used (WunderRadio, Sirius, others...), starts on its own.
    Anyone else? Any clues?

What that means is that you didn't quit the streaming app, you only suspended it. A feature of the iPhone is that it will pause streaming apps for a call, then resume them after the call. This is actually a NEW feature; until iOS 4 you would have to restart the app yourself. But the fix is to terminate the streaming app when you are finished listening. If it doesn't have an "off" switch in the app then go to the home screen, double-press HOME to bring up the recent apps tape at the bottom, tap and hold the streaming app until a '-" appears on it, then tap the "-".
