Stream iPad2 content via wifi on hdtv?

Is it possible to stream content or share the iPad2 screen on our HDTV via our wireless home internet?  I know we can purchase a cord and connect directly to the tv but we don't want to be limited to the cord length.  We normally sit 10 feet away from the screen.
Would like to show movies and pictures as well as the occasional app for the kids.
I am not interested in viewing content from my TV on my iPad.
We have a PS3 with internet access and a Samsung LCD HDTV and they are all connected to the wifi.  We are able to see content from our desktop thru the PS3 on our TV via our network.
Is there a way to do this without Apple TV?

You will need an AppleTV which is around $120 or a Digital AV Adapter for $30. your choice

  • Streaming H264 content via RTP/RTSP: VLC works, Quicktime doesn't

    Hello,
We are developping a DSP based system that streams H264 content using RTP/RTSP.

At this stage our server starts sending H264 RTP frames to port 6970 of Quicktime's host machine. No firewall or NAT exists between the client and server machines. Sometimes it is the same machine.
    Quicktime client says:
    'Negotiating'
    'Waiting for media...'
and after 10 seconds it says 'Not Found' and disconnects from the server.
VLC displays the video stream given the same URL.
Why is Quicktime not finding/displaying the stream?

I have managed to pass this stage by adding an 'RTP-Info' header to the 'PLAY' reply. Now the player does buffering and starts counting the time forward as if it were doing a kind of playback, but all that can bee seen on the Quicktime window is the large blue Quicktime icon with dots below scrolling from side to side.
Movie inspector shows an advancing 'Current Time', 'Movie FPS: 0.00', 'Format: StreamingH.264, 352x288, Millions', a good Bit Rate value and a Quality near 100%.

  • Can I stream from iTunes via Wifi to speakers attached to another Mac?

    Hello!
I have a 15" Powerbook running 10.4.10, and a 400mhz Sawtooth G4 running 10.4.10 and 10.3.9. I also have a wireless network, with the G4 connected via Ethernet to the router. I also have a very nice set of speakers currently connected to both machines with two audio cables (to connect to the Audio-out on each computer), and a Y-adapter at the speaker.
Usually, when I use my Powerbook, while it's in the same room, it's across the room - running on battery and completely wireless - and I am too far from the desk to plug the speakers directly into the Powerbook. Thus, when I listen to iTunes, I must use headphones.
Is there some way to use the G4 as a sort of "network speaker"? By that I mean stream sound from iTunes in my Powerbook across the WiFi network to the G4, which then plays it through the attached speakers. Think of it as a sort of make-shift "airport express" - I'll be using the G4 in the same way that iTunes will stream music through an Airport Express to a speaker set. If a solution will work under 10.3.9, even better - Panther is friendlier (less resource hungry) on that old machine than Tiger.
    Thanks,
    -Dan

    Hello fabio_esquivel,
You have done a lot of good troubleshooting so far. Check out the article below to see if there is anything that you may have missed, like any firewall settings or even just restarting your wireless network.

  • Can an iPod Touch Stream Live Audio via Wifi through airplay?

I would like to stream the audio from a PA system running in one building to another building on the same site. The distance is too far for a wireless speaker system, as well as for a strictly Airport based network. What I am wondering is if it would be possible to use an Ipod Touch to input audio from the PA and use airplay to output the audio via an Airport Express in the other building?

What I am wondering is if it would be possible to use an Ipod Touch to input audio from the PA and use airplay to output the audio via an Airport Express in the other building?
Sorry, but no. The basic issue would be how to get the PA audio "into" the iPod Touch.

  • Streaming live audio via wifi to home audio system

I would like to attach a device to my stereo that would act as a wifi audio receiver and play whatever audio my macbook is currently playing.
Does such a thing exist?  Basically it should act like a wireless version of an audio cable that I would plug into my mac's audio out and into my stereo.
I can't tell if the airport express will do this.
I own a Roku and I know I can get it set up to play certain kinds of media files over the network, but I want the freedom to be able to play live streams over the internet from any number of sources.
I would accept being able to live stream from itunes, but only if it's a true live stream and not just letting me select itunes files.  (I want it to know where I am in a long podcast, for example.)
    Thanks!

Just for completeness, airfoil + airport express indeed does exactly what I wanted:
    - I purchased an airport express, a mini stereo->phono Y splitter cable, and the airfoil application from Rogue Amoeba.
    - I configured my airport to join my existing network and plugged its audio out jack into my stereo receiver using the Y splitter cable.  At this point I could play itunes to my stereo by selecting the airport as the "speaker" using the little menu in the lower right corner of the itunes window.  (itunes found the airport express automatically)
    - I launched Airfoil and told it to stream "system audio" (as opposed to the other choice of streaming from a single application), which required a brief install and reboot of some system level software, to my airport express, which it had located automatically.
Now I can stream any audio from my mac to my stereo, not just itunes!  Rock!
The only sadness?  If the Time Capsule supported an audio out jack I would not have needed to buy the Airport Express.
In the long run maybe it would have been smarter to buy an Apple TV.

  • Anone connecting via wifi?

    Greetings!
I've been having troubles downloading HD movie files with iTunes 9.0.2. An other content downloads fine after purchase. Problems come when trying to download any file larger than 2 gig or so.
An Apple expert tells me that the problem is that the PC running iTunes is connected via wifi. Unfortunately, moving the machine or router is not a simple option.
So wondering if anyone out there is downloading HD content via wifi and having any issues, or doing fine?
BTW, I use AppleTV to watch the content from the PC, a connection made via the wifi router without issue.
    Thanks!

Works fine for me. I'm using an 8-yr-old Linksys router on 802.11b, set to a channel that doesn't interfere so much with the neighbors.
If this is a new router, check to see if the manufacturer has any firmware updates.

  • Accessing FAT32 external USB Drive via web server for streaming of content

    Hi all
I've read a post about streaming music from my mac via wifi to my iPhone 3g.
It involves enabling the webserver, adding a symbolic link to my music directory and then browsing to the webserver using safari on my iphone.
I've enabled the webserver, added the symbolic link however when I try and follow the instructions to add permissions to the music folder I get no error however browsing to the folder I receive a "Forbidden" message saying I don't have access.
A friend of mine who knows more about Mac's than myself (macmini is my first mac) has suggested it's because my external drive isn't part of the core system???
Has anyone else seen/tried this with an external drive setup?
    Regards
    Wayne

here is the link to the post/instructions I'm using...

I ran the chmod command successfully (no error's in Terminal) but still cannot view the contents of the directory via a browser

  • A black airplay info window floats around on my HDTV screen when sending audio content via airplay up to sound system w Apple TV.  How can I get rid of this?

A black airplay info window floats around on my HDTV screen when sending audio content via airplay up to sound system w Apple TV.  How can I get rid of this?

Had this happen to me after a recent update, was super annoying.  To turn off, go to Settings > AirPlay > Conference Room Display > Off.

  • I still cannot stream YouTube/Netflix/iPlayer etc. on my iPhone 4 via WiFi since updating to iOS 6.0.1....can anyone please solve this for me??

I posted a couple of days ago about a problem my iPhone 4 was having trying to stream video via WiFi
Basically, since I upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 I cannot stream YouTube videos via the app or via Safari, Netflix will not work nor will services such as BBC iPlayer.
I've also discovered this evening I cannot stream any radio apps either.
All of them will play for 10-30 seconds then stop buffering making them impossible to play.
I was given several pieces of advice including restoring the phone to factory settings, restoring it as a new phone, hard resetting twice in a row, deleting all the cache/data in Safari but nothing that has been suggessted has solved the problem.
I know it is not a problem with my internet/WiFi as I have a laptop and a PC both using it and streaming YouTube/raddio stations etc. with no problem. Also, my girlfriend has a 3GS with the old YouTube player and that works with no problems at all.
Can anyone please help me out as it's getting a bit frustrating not being able to use the streaming function on my iPhone.
One thing that is odd, I have no problem surfing the web on the phone via WiFi or streaming over 3G. It is only a problem when trying to stream video/audio over WiFi.
    Thanks.

This is a link to the Apple support page on this issue. Have you tried all of these steps?

  • How do I get non-iTunes content to stream to AppleTV via airplay?

I have recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and I want to use the airplay feature to stream web content to my AppleTV.  I saw how to enable airplay in iTunes and did that.  The icon was there and my AppleTV showed up in the list when I clicked it.  It is my understanding that I need to have a recent version of hardware to make use of airplay.  I have a Macbook Air, late 2010 version.
My AppleTV is on.  I can stream to it with an iPad, so it is functioning.  When I select content in iTunes, nothing happens.  The video window appears and starts playing and... nothing.  Ultimately I want to be able to stream from other apps like Safari.  Any ideas?

Settings-displays-look at the bottom and you should see an airplay menu select your apple tv

  • My IPAD2 failed to download ios 8 via wifi and itunes

I tried to download IOS 8 via wifi and I got an error message that the download failed.  I tried to download via ITunes and got the error message network failure. I did this numerous times both ways.  My Iphone 5S downloaded fine via wifi.

I have similar problem on an iPad. I have FIOS with 83 meg download speeds. According to apple my download will take 32 hours. They are having a problem and are not addressing it. This is the third day I have been getting this problem. How do we get apple to tell us what is going on. I am willing to cooperate but need to know what to do.

  • How to stream the content of a buffer[] via RTP?

    Hi,
I have a buffer[] Objekt with encapsulates my Audiodata. I now have to make a DataSource out of my Buffer Object so that I can stream it via an RTP Manager.
    How to do it?
    regards
    einherjar

You have to create a custom DataSource and a custom stream for the DataSource. The custom stream must implement/override the read() method. The JMF calls read() to get data from the stream to send via RTP. In the body of the read method, you will take a chunk of your buffer[] data and put it into the Buffer object passed as a parameter.

  • Can I watch streamed content via the internet on Aplle TV

I have just connected the apple TV to my stereo and TV, I get the Itunes library just fine, youtube etc etc. I would love to be able to stream live contect via the web is it possible to see this on the TV with this device and I'm being stupid. Just cannot figure it out.
if the event is being streamed live do I just input that address in the stream location via itunes? I tried a test vis USSTREAMS of stored contect and it did not work.
    thanks in advance
    Jeff

    Jeff
You need to mirror to do that.  If your mac is mid 2011 (early 2011 for MBP) or newer and running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion you can.  If it is older then you can use a third party app called airparrot.

  • Ethernet connected Apple TV 3 can't play content.  WiFi works fine.  What gives?

Apple TV 3 has a strange problem since the latest update, 5.1.  It is only partially functional when hard wired to my router, but is fully functional when connected wirelessly.
When hardwired, I can control it with the iOS Remote app, airplay from iPhones & iPad, and browse the menus of the various services, Hulu, Netflix, etc. But, when I try to play content, for example, a  Hulu show, I get a “there was an error…” message.
When I connect wirelessly- everything works fine- I can play all the content without a problem.
I prefer to have a wired connection, and have been using one successfully up until 5.1 – does anyone know how to fix the  limited functionality of the wired connection?
