Stream iphoto movies to Apple TV

I just bought the NEW, 3rd generation Apple TV. I am wondering if movies in my iPhoto events can be streamed to my Apple TV DIRECTLY FROM IPHOTO WITHOUT HAVING TO IMPORT THEM INTO ITUNES. Thanks!

Movies should be exported from iMovie using the Apple TV preset and placed in iTunes. Movie projects in iMovie are in an editable format which is not suitable for use with the Apple TV.
Photos from iPhoto should be placed in albums or events and shared via the advance menu in iTunes, they cannot be shared directly from iPhoto to the Apple TV.
nothing can be shared when the Mac is asleep, although you can set it to wake on network activity in the security system preferences.

I'm having the same problem. It's not an issue with my TV, i've turned this feature off. I've tried playing with the ATV display settings but nothing works. When I stream netflix from my Samsung bluray player, I don't get the soap opera effect, but when I stream any video from the ATV, the soap opera effect is there. I'm thinking it's a choice that Apple made, but I really wish it could be turned off. Not a lot of people are searching for this, because it can be easy to overlook, but it's driving me nuts!

Problem streaming HD Movies to Apple TV through home network

Got my new Apple TV yesterday but has some quirks. The biggest one is I'm in the middle of watching an iTunes HD movie I own -- streaming it to my Apple TV on my home network -- and the video starts stuttering halfway through the movie. It was playing with no sound, the video was jumpy, etc.
I stopped the movie, unplugged the Apple TV, tried playing the movie again -- I did this a couple of times -- and same result. This issue didn't happen until about an hour into the movie -- for the first hour of the show it played perfectly. Just before the movie, I'd watched an HD TV show I downloaded from iTunes earlier in the day, and was streaming this to my new Apple TV over the home network, and it played fine.
The other issue I'm seeing is it takes a looooooooooong time to load my iTunes Library from my computer. I selected my shared library, and then it takes about five times (or more) as long to load the list of movies compared to my older Apple TV (the previous generation 160GB hard drive model).
Is anyone else seeing these issues, and is there a fix?

I am having the same problem streaming HD anything, Movies or TV shows. It seems to try to buffer more of the video than when using SD video anything. When playing SD anything, it seems to start playing very soon after pressing play.
My content is on a spring 2009 iMac
CPU 2.93 GHz
4GB RAM
OS 10.5.8
Network
Wireless N (G,B 2.4 GHz) No G or be devices on network presently not switching to N only because iPhone 3GS doesnt 'support N.
Airport Extreme (man BS) -> Airport Extreme (Extend Network mode) -> Airport Extreme (Join Network Mode).

IPhoto movies onto apple tv

I have photos and movies within iPhoto.
Is there an easy way to get the iPhoto movies onto my apple tv - without importing them into iTunes?
The only way I have found is to use iTunes as a stepping stone - but this seems crazy as I end up with the movie in iPhoto and iTunes.
I do not need this step with photos. Why should movies be different

Personally I'd rather have all my movies whether they came from a video camera, a still camera or wherever all in one place rather than some in itunes and some in iphoto.
No, there is no way to have movies on the tv other than through itunes.

I converted a video cam tape to a iMovie, and using iDVD burned it to a CD. Now I'd like to stream it to my Apple TV. Can I do that and if so, how.

Streaming iTunes movies to Apple TV with mid 2009 MBPro?

I have mid 2009 MacBook Pro with mountain lion and successfully stream movies in iTunes to iPad 3 and iPhone 4 via hie sharing. I would like to do the same to my tv via an Apple TV. However, lots of advice says that you need a. 2011 MBP or later to do this. I am not fussed about mirroring the screen just want to watch movies and listen to music like I do currently with home sharing on iPad and iPhone. Can I use my current MacBook for this? Thanks

I have a movie in the .dv format that i have taken from my time capsule to Itunes - I can play it in itunes on my macbook- i can not stream or sync the movie to atv - the closest i came was when a message came up that "apple tv did not sync the movie because it can not play the movie" once again I can play the movie without problem on itunes. I thought i was computer smart but this apple tv thing makes me feel really stupid

AppleTV does not plays dv files.
It basically needs things to be in MP4 or h264 foramat:

Go to squared5.com, download MPEGStreamclip and use that to convert DV to h264, you might try handbrake too, though I can't remember if it handles dv.
Things that play in iTunes don't necessarily plly on AppleTV.

Streaming Rented Movies Error (Apple TV 2G)

Hi,
I just purchased the new apple tv but the problem is when i try to preview the movie or play rented movie, i always get this error message "An error occurred while loading this content".
I dont know what to do, i tried restarting the router or plugin the Apple tv direct to the Ethernet but still the same problem.
P.S The Apple TV is updated the latest version 4.2

i have had a few errors each one unique, one is the standard error loading content. the other errors are something about needing an hdmi cable umm got one lol.. and the other error is the authorization.. i find simply unplugging the apple tv and plugging it back in works.. i don't use my unit very often its a trail thing..so far im impressed with the quality but not overly impressed with the amount of errors i get its only like a month or three old. id love to see more streaming 1080p content i would drop digital cable if they supported the 1080p and had a few more networks that carried some of my favorite shows.. i have tried resetting it and that don't do much either so i dono *shrug*
anyway if someone ever finds a work around or a fix let me know because unplugging and plugging it back in gets a little friggin annoying but it works.. if you don't mind the hassle

ITunes streaming Quicktime movies to Apple TV but without video

I have a bunch of videos I downloaded in AVI format and trimmed them using Quicktime and saved them as .mov file.
Trying to play those files using iTunes through my Apple TV results in a black screen (no video) - Apple TV plays audio only.
Why?
Both iTunes, MacOSX and Apple-TV are running the latest software versions as of end May 2011.

Streaming iCloud movie from iPad to Apple TV via AirPlay resulted no picture but sound.

I notice that movie (iTunes purchased) that store in my iPad 2 when AirPlay to Apple TV 3 everything fine but for iCloud movie streaming (iTunes purchased that store in iCloud), I only manage to get sound from Apple TV 3, no picture. Apple TV only displayed running time. This happen after Apple TV new updates few days ago. Before update, everything is fine.
I used iPad 2 to stream iCloud movies to Apple TV because the streaming is much faster than using Apple TV 3 own streaming which some times the buffer took quite some times to load.
And why on my iPad 2 which still running iOS 5.1.1 the AirPlay icon missing the Mirroring on/off icon. In AirPlay I can only choose iPad or Apple TV but without the Mirroring on/off icon.

If you have already redeemed your iTunes Store gift card, then the balance should be able to be viewed on your iTunes Store account. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID on your Apple TV, the purchase on the Apple TV will be deducted from your credit balance.

You are prevented from Airplay mirroring certain things like DVD content as the material is usually protected so you get a checkerboard type display. I think there is a theoretical risk that the Airplay stream could be intercepted and the protected video copied, albeitin lower quality.
Apple may be being cautious or are required to do so with the DVD player app by movie studios/licensing authorities. It makes no sense to the average consumer who is just trying to send their purchased DVD to the TV via the computer and AppleTV.
Playback in something like VLC should work - not tried it myself but others have commented it doesn't have the restriction.

Iphoto (server) stream photos & movies to/from ipad

Systems/SW in use: iPad2, iOS6.0.1, MacBook Pro, OSX10.6.8 iPhoto 8 (I think, not v11)
iCoud is too small. I have 250 GB (yes two hundred and fifty gigabytes of photos & movies on iPhoto)
No sync possibilities between iMacbook and iPad. (that’s just the way it is in my configuration)

How to load photos from email, Facebook or messages captured on iPad to above mentioned iPhoto server?
