Stream ipod to xbox 360?

my ipod doesnt work on any xbox 360s. i was wondering if there was a program that can share/stream my ipod music from itunes to my 360. i found a program called connect360 but it only browses my itunes library, not my ipod. all my music is on my ipod to save harddrive space. thanks

Hi viceng,
I've been using connect360 (paid the $20) and it's a fantastic program, it was designed to be a streaming plug-in to your media library. I've yet to find a similar program that allows you to access the mounted iPod and stream it out across the network.
With that being said, the iPod was not designed to be the only location for your music. My understanding is that Apple always envisioned the iPod to be a way to take the media on your computer with you, not have it as the primary storage location.

  • Ipod on Xbox 360, some songs don't show up

I recently bought an Xbox 360, I have been using my Ipod to listen to music but some songs don't show up in Xbox playlist, particularly the music I have bought and downloaded from Itunes music store, Is it some kind of protected format, what can I do to fix it, any help would be great, thanks

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name (as mentioned above) in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod
Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.

  • No Longer Able to stream content to Xbox 360

I have just installed Lion and can no longer stream media to my Xbox 360 using Rivet. I had no problems streaming them before, and am still able to stream the media on my 2TB NAS drive but it says the format is not supported on my Xbox when I try to play media on my MBP (with Lion). All of the files are regular .avi files, and play fine on my machine. Anybody else having issues streaming to xbox 360 since upgrading to Lion?
    Thanks

It happened the same to me using Rivet and streaming (from my iMac) to my TV directly (has Wifi).
In Rivet webpage says that Rivet is no longer supported by them (so I supose that there is no update for Lion). Nevertheless, I have tried with other media servers (like Serviio or Majestic) and doesn't work either...
Anybody know if there is going to be a patch or a solution?
Thanks a lot, greeting from Spain :-)

  • Playing videos of an ipod via xbox 360

i was just curious as to if you connect like a normal ipod video with your xbox and go to the media>video tab on the xbox dashboard, can you play videos from your ipod via the xbox 360???? that would definitely be legit cuz im always bumming movies off of my friends itunes and then i could watch them on tv via xbox 360 connection. let me know

that would definitely be legit cuz im always bumming movies off of my friends itunes
    definitely NOT legit.
As to whether an xbox can handle this depends on what acessories you have. Apple and other companies make docks with A/V cables for playing video to TVs. If xbox can take those cables as inputs then it should work.

  • IPod to Xbox 360

Hi guys, I recently bought an Xbox 360 and it rules. One of the great features is being able to listen to your own music in-game. However, my iPod doesn't get along with my Xbox 360 at all.
I know that Apple brought out an update to stop people from listening to their music purchased from iTunes on their 360s, but not even my normally purchased music (CD's put onto the iPod) works on the 360 with my iPod.
This shouldn't be happening (I don't think) and was wondering if there was a way of sorting it. The only music which works on it is the music which I haven't purchased (illegally got hold of, in other words).

I know that Apple brought out an update to stop people from listening to their music purchased from iTunes on their 360s,
Huh? Where did you here this?
MS has not implimented the DRM Apple uses for ITMS purchased music.

"Microsoft built its iPod connection without the support of the folks at Apple."
"We do not have an official relationship with Apple for the iPod connectivity," said Scott Henson, product unit manager in Microsoft's advanced technology group. He maintains that "Xbox 360 leverages standard protocols such as USB mass storage to enable iPod support."
The only music which works on it is the music which I haven't purchased (illegally got hold of, in other words).
There is really no difference betweent his music and the CDs you ripped yourself.
Either the xbox or the ipod or the link between them is not working properly.

  • Problem using iPod with Xbox 360

I have always used my iPod to listen to music while I play games on my Xbox 360, until recently. My 360 no longer recognizes my iPod by name and it is just listed as something generic like external usb device and when I click on it there is no music on it. My iPod is otherwise fully functional when it is not connected to my 360 and my roomate's iPod still works fine with my 360 so i must have changed a setting or something, but I refuse to restore my iPod to factory settings and lose all my music. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm wondering if I should just go to settings, reset all settings. I'm reluctant to try this because I don't know if it will delete my music like if you restore your iPod. Any thoughts on any of this would be much appreciated.

Get this, I was fooling around and found a way to play songs from my iPod on my 360, sort of. When I click on portable device from my 360 or my iPod from my computer desktop three folders appear. Calendars, Contacts and Notes. If I drag songs from my iTunes library to any of these three folders within my iPod icon on my desktop, I can open that folder on my 360 and play the songs in it! The problem is that the sound quality is terrible and it doesn't use my iPod equalizer because things in these folders are not considered music so they are not treated like music when I click on them. In iTunes when I click on my iPod and it has a status bar showing my free space, music space, and other space on my iPod the songs that I put in the Notes folder show up in orange as taking up other space instead of music. Anyway this doesn't really solve my probem so I'm still open to suggestions and/or a number I can call for help.

  • IPod and Xbox 360

why is my xbox360 not able to play my songs that i buied in the itunes store?
all the songs that i added from cd's work, just the ones from the store not... is this a licence-problem or what?
    sorry about my english...
    greetings from switzerland!

I understand your point... and to some extent, you are correct.
You are allowed to burn purchased iTunes music to CD. However, there's a "grey area" when it comes to re-importing that CD and putting the music back into a different digital format, such as MP3 or other.
What you've just done is essentially strip the copy protection off of the original file, and that's a violation of the license agreement as per the Terms of Service for iTunes purchases.
Burning CDs from purchased iTunes tracks --- OK.
Re-ripping those burned CDs back into digital audio --- not OK.

  • Streaming to Xbox 360

Anyone having issues with the media hub streaming to their Xbox 360?  I can see the device and all image folders remotely from the xbox, but when I want to view a picture from a folder, it just sits there saying Picture Loading for a few minutes.

Hmmm, this is quiet something. I need to know more information first.
    1.       What’s the resolution of the pictures? Maybe its still indexing the pictures.
    2.       Can you view the pictures from the NMH if you’re using your MCE Computer?
    3.       Can you view the pictures on XBOX 360 if the pictures are saved on the MCE Computer?
    4.       Did you disable the firewalls already?

  • Stream iPod Touch Through Xbox 360

I want to stream my iPod Touch through my xbox 360. I heard that it doesn't work because the xbox sees it as a computer rather than an MP3 player. Is there any way around this?

yeah. that would be slightly difficult though since the creator would need to contact someone from Microsoft who deals with Xbox software, in order to get the codes (or whatever) needed to get the app to work. it still would be great though.

  • Settings for streaming to XBox 360 over Connect360

Anyone have recommended settings for transcoding/encoding to stream on XBox 360 from Mac via Connect360?

I just did a bunch of encodes, tried all kinds of settings.
I found that both MP4 and ipod/iphone 640x480 worked well.
I haven't tried any HD settings yet, but that will come.
It was pretty cool. I took my son's football game on DV, dumped it into FCP, encoded it to a QT Movie, and played it down in the basement on the big screen. (Coaches Film Session)
The only thing that didn't work as well as I would like is that the chapters that I set up weren't as accurate as I would like (I set a chapter marker at the beginning of each play. If I remember correctly, i may need to force an i frame with each chapter marker.)
Connect 360 Rocks imho. It was very frustrating for video until this last xbox software upgrade, but now it will play both mp4 and h.264.
If you run into any trouble, just export a short clip from FCP, then use compressor and try all kinds of settings. Then see which one works for your desired quality.
Like I said, apple devices, ipod/iphone 640x480 worked great. Looked awesome on a 1080p projector at 120" diag!

  • Xbox 360 isn't showing ipod

    Hi,
just received my new iPod shuffle Second Generation. Everything’s great, but when I plug it into my Xbox 360, it isn’t showing up! Nano and Shuffle First Generation works! Please help me.
    Thanks a lot.
iPod shuffle (Second Generation)   Windows XP

Flash drives work, nanos work, video iPods work, other old dock-connector ipods work, 1st gen shuffles work, but I don't believe the 2nd gen shuffle will work. As I recall, the 2nd gen shuffle cannot be used, like the 1st gen, as an external data flash drive in addition to its iPod music functions. And that's all the 360 does is see any iPod as an external USB storage device, with a tiny bit of extra effort to resolve the filing hierarchy on the iPod. The 2nd shuffle connects via a proprietary USB2 interface; I doubt the 360 sees it as a USB device.
But yes you do need the the free iPod update from the Xbox Live Marketplace to play unprotected AAC files on an iPod. It's free, takes about a minute to download, and then it just works.
But for hard-drive based iPod owners, I wouldn't use them with my 360. I was leery of using it because there was no clean way to unmount the iPod once you've plugged it in -- you have to switch the 360 off to get the iPod out of connected mode -- so I connected my 3rd gen iPod instead of my iPod video. The 360 keeps the iPod hard drive spun up all the time. Obviously, this will zip through the battery in no time, if you have a 3rd gen iPod that will sync over USB2 but not charge; and iPods weren't really meant to work this way. They're meant to spin up the drive, copy music to an onboard RAM cache, then spin down the drive and play out of the cache -- not spin the drive at full speed all the time. My iPod got blazingly hot connected to my 360, so I never did it again. I either stream music off my Mac to the 360 -- or when an online game is so network traffic intensive, like Gears of War, that that won't work and the stream stops, I bought for $28 a Lexar 512MB Jump Drive, and I just rotate songs out on that. Works great, holds around a 100 songs, selects as Portable Device under the music source, and doesn't suffer from network traffic issues.

  • Xbox 360 and nas storage for streaming media

    Hi there,
I have an xbox 360 and watch movies on it through my network that are stored on my home PC, this means that I have to have my home PC on whenever I want to watch a movie. What I would like to do is have a NAS storage device that I can store all my movies on that is on the same notwork so that I can then watch the movies on my xbox without the need for the PC being on. Obviously I would want the NAS to be seen by the computer's I have on my network also.
I way thinking about getting this item Western Digital - My Book Live 1TB External Home Network Drive - Black but am not sure if the xbox will see it? or is there a better solution for around the same price which is expandable?
    Thanks.

You'd have to get a real home or business NAS product to stream to the 360 and those are not in the same price range as the product you are looking at.
