  • How to see the bitrate of a video in real time

Some time ago I posted a question on this forum, asking if it's possible to do that (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=325516). As the topic is archived, I can not write the answer I found today: VLC, at least version 0.8.5, can do exactly what I need: on Window > Information > Statistics, it's a reading named Stream bitrate that reads like once per second the bitrate.
It works not only for DVDs, but for any video, of course.
    Brilliant! And it's free!!

    This is great!
You can both watch your newly compressed m2v and see the bitrate in real time.
VLC media player 8.5 for Mac OS X can be downloaded here:

  • How do I play slow motion video in real time?

I accidentally recorded video on my iPhone 5s in slow motion, and now I want to import it into iPhoto and play it in real-time.  How can I do that?

Thank you for taking the time to contribute. Unfortunately, you are referring to the dekstop version of iMovie - my question specifies iMovie for iPhone (and I asked in the iMovie for iOS forum).
I would find it hard to believe that Apple included a way to record slow-motion but not be able to get that footage into iMove (iOS App version).
    Thanks.

  • Icloud calender shows different time on my cell phone.

When I add an appointment to my icloud calendar on my computer, it shows a one hour difference on my cell phone.  How do I make them both show the same time.?

Go to icloud.com, sign into your iCloud account, click your name at the top and choose Account Settings, click Time Zone and be sure it shows the correct time zone and that you have selected a city near you.  Then open your calendar on icloud.com, click the gear-shaped icon on the bottom left and choose Preferences, click the Advanced tab and make sure you have not checked time zone support at the top.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Time Zone Support (in the Calendars section) on your phone and make sure this is set to Off.  If you have a Mac, open the calendar and to to Mail>Preferences>Advances and uncheck “Turn on time zone support”.

  • Getting video to play real time in an NTSC monitor question?

I’m trying to get video in my NTSC preview monitor to play real time. It will send a picture to the preview monitor but will not play real time even when timeline is rendered. I’m coming out of the back of my video card (ATI Radeon 9600) through a DVI cable to my HDTV monitor. Do I need a Firewire digital to analog converter box in order to see video in real time? I don’t want to use my camera as a pass through. Does FCE support a second monitor at all during editing?
    Any info greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for the reply! I just purchased a Firewire Datavideo DAC-6 DV to Analog Video Converter and it even has component out to the NTSC monitor. It will be here on Wednesday! Good to know I can run a preview monitor while editing. Thanks again for assisting me.

  • Real-Time 120fps web video now possible! (for 120Hz monitor users)

    Hello,
With the emergence of "120fps" cameras (Galaxy S4, GoPro Hero 3, Casio EX-FC200S, and the upcoming iPhone 5S), Blur Busters did some research on a distribution medium for playing back 120fps videos in real-time.  We have discovered some good news.
    (1) Presently, 120Hz monitors are quite popular among high-end video game players.  There are more than a dozen models avaialble:
    http://www.blurbusters.com/faq/120hz-monitors/
One of the more popular models is the VG248QE, which as over 60 reviews on Amazon (4.5 out of 5 stars).
    (2) The web is now a potential 120fps video distribution medium; and some computer users use 120Hz computer monitors now.  There is now a way to speed up 120fps slow-motion to 120fps real-time, and it was recently discovered that all the popular web browsers support 120fps@120Hz (Internet Explorer, Chrome, and the new FireFox 25+ Beta) using the <VIDEO> element are now capable of playing back at 120fps in real time on a 120Hz computer monitor:
    http://www.blurbusters.com/faq/real-time-120fps-video
In general, any machine capable of playing back 1080p@60fps, is easily capable of playing back 720p@120fps.  Both are pretty similiar bitrates.  Also, some websites (www.testufo.com using Chrome browser) also shows that it's now possible in some web browsers to automatically detect the refresh rate of a web visitor, so you can present 120fps videos automatically only to 120Hz visitors.
I want to make sure that Adobe Premiere Pro is capable of converting 120fps slow-mo into 120fps real-time, as a natively-encoded 120fps H.264 video file?
    Thanks,
    Mark Rejhon

    Adobe employees:
I need an answer to this question as I'm getting more than one inquiry (I run Blur Busters) and I want to help people be able to create 120fps videos.
Do I recommend continuing using Adobe, or do I refer them to a competitor's product if it's the only way to output 120fps????
Even plain free tools such as ffmpeg can do 120fps!
Some people are starting to think abot 120fps editing (e.g. http://www.hfrmovies.com/tag/120-fps/ ...) so this is an emerging area that Adobe also needs to pay attention to.
The 120fps distribution medium is already here today, and it's called "web browsers running on a 120Hz computer monitor".

  • Real-Time Capture in Final Cut Express

    Hi All -
I own a music venue, and we're considering adding video recording services (current we just offer audio). To reduce labor, I'm planning on a fixed mounted camera (brand/model TBD) from one of our lighting trusses (on the ceiling). We'd like to stream the video footage into a PowerMac and/or PowerBook in real time (presumably via a long firewire cable), thus avoiding the use of tapes, etc... So two questions:
1- Can Final Cut Express handle direct capture of video in Real Time? If so, are there any constraints, such as 7200 RPM harddrive, no HD, etc..., that I need to be aware of?
2- We plan to capture audio separately so that we can mix it in 16-track format in our ProTools HD studio. Will FCE work with a time code (SMTPE, etc...), or are there other prefer methods of keeping the sources in synch?
Any other thoughts from concert film masters would be appreciated! We're a small venue (150 person capacity) and will be using this mostly for student recitals and local bands - thus we need to be frugal and minimize the number of people needed to run it.
    Thanks!

    1. There are limitations to the length of FireWire cable data can be streamed. You might want to check up on this. FCE captures DV in realtime. You'll need a fast drive either in the computer or an external FW drive at least 7200rpm with 8MB cache.
    2. No.

  • Watching streaming video on an 867mhz TiBook?

I'm struggling to watch streamed video content on my 867mhz TiBook and wondered whether there was anything I could do to make content run properly? It's running 10.4.11 with 1GB RAM, using Safari. I'm trying to watch BBC i-Player content.
    Thanks

    1. Don't have any other applications or operations running at the same time.
    2. If you can download the video first and then watch it from your hard drive instead of streaming it in real time, do so.
    3. Check with your ISP to see whether they offer an option providing greater bandwidth and faster download speeds.
    4. If you use cable internet, watch streaming video during off-peak hours when there's less competition for the available bandwidth.
    5. Expect the steadily growing demands of multimedia-laden websites to make your Powerbook completely obsolete for such uses before long. Some would tell you it already is obsolete, and they aren't far wrong.

  • What is the best way to match clip and sequence settings for real-time editing?

I am a long time FCP user and trying to make the After Effects workflow a little smoother by utilizing the Adobe suite.
One of the most valuable things I miss about FCP is that when I drop a clip in a blank sequence (no matter what the settings of the seq) it will ask if I want to match the settings of the clip. This ensures that no rendering is required to quickly edit the video in real-time.
Is there a plugin or function in Premiere CS4 that I am missing that will afford me this feature? Currently i am doing everything I can to match the clip settings when creating a sequence, but sadly i'm still having to render the timeline to preview the edit.
    lh

And in CS4, if there is not a matching Preset, you can choose the Desktop Preset, which will allow you to customize nearly every attribute to match your source footage. The name is a bit of a misnomer, but has been around for a long time. I would have called it the "Custom Preset," but Adobe never called.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - I just learned something new about CS5 from Curt, because of your question - thanks!

  • Getting streaming video set up in Dreamweaver CS4

I want to use streaming videos instead of progressive download.
How is this done with Dreamweaver CS4?
When I click on the Insert media>FLV it brings up a dialogue box which allows you to choose from Progressive Download or Streaming.
If I choose streaming, I'm presented with a Server URI box prefixed by rtmp://
I don't have a specific Adobe Flash Streaming portal, but I'd set up the MIME type for flash streaming with my internet provider (1&1) a couple of years ago, and I've used streaming video lots of times without problem (had put that together in Flash, though, not Dreamweaver).
so if my site is:  http://www.mySite.com
    and my video is myVid.flv,
what do I put for Server URI and what do I put for Stream name?
    Thanks for any assistance.

    Hi
but I'd set up the MIME type for flash streaming with my internet
provider (1&1) a couple of years ago
Streaming video cannot be set-up as a MIME type, as it requires a streaming server. Setting the MIME file extension to recognize any of the video/audio files does just this, (it recognizes the file type) but delivers them as progressive not streaming.

  • Real-time highlights during a live event

    Hi,
is there some documentation about this function? I want to create a live streaming player with real time higlights (manually inserted). The streaming is HDS through Akamai CDN with DVR.
    Thanks!

    Ben,
I was notified by SAP that this was corrected in DS14.1 SP3 Patch1 and DS14.2 SP1 Patch3. Reference SAP Note 1997294 (Data Services WSDL error: Unable to create WSDL for service).
The cause and resolution are as follows:
    Cause:
This is regression. The parser that creates the WSDL entry will look for ACTA_INCLUDE_<path name to schema>; not ACTA_INCLUDE_1<path….>. ACTA_INCLUDE_1 blocks the path to the schema.
    Resolution:
    Workaround:
    1. Export the rt job to atl.
    2. Search for ACTA_INCLUDE_1.
    3. Replace with ACTA_INCLUDE_.
    4. Re-import the atl into designer, make no changes.
    5. Create service and add the Web service.

  • Suggestion - media manager to stream video out to the internet

I have heard and seen posting about upcoming beta where one would be able to use media manager to stream video from their PC to the STB in their houses. Cool, needed but sort of expected ....
what I am really interested is to actually be able to view the content of my DVR when I am remote from home. I would like with a browser to connect home and be able to view the show I missed.
Now that will be cool .... (its kind of Slinbox service)

It'll happen, I'm sure. Eventually, we'll be able to even watch Video On Demand on Verizon Wireless cell phones, and when we get home we can seamlessly transfer the streaming video from the phone to the STB/TV thanks to the Verizon One.
    Thank you,

Can you try with different phone?
Yes, I had same issue with Nokia Lumia too. For now I didnt get any issues while I am talking on the phone. I made 2 changes since this morning.
    I. Changed the citrix receiver
    II. Changed the following settings
    1.) Boot to UEFI Bios
2.) Navigate to the OC Section
    Make the following changes:
    Dram Frequency: DDR3-1600
Dram Timing Mode: Change from "auto" to  "link"
3.) Click on "Advanced Dram Configuration" and make the following settings:
Command Rate: 2T  If successful, retest with 1T
    tCL: 9
    tRCD: 9
    tRP: 9
    tRas: 24
    Save, exit and re-test.
I will monitor the issue for some more time, and reply on this thread if the problem comes back. Thanks for your replies so far and for your time.

  • WVC80N real-time video streaming to TV

I am very happy with WVC80N camera. It is a great product! Just one thing I'm yet to figure out: Is there a way to view the real-time video feed from the camera directly on a TV? Or, through XBOX? (I don't want to hookup the computer to theTV)

Well the scenario that you explained, technically it is possible but it is not tested. Just it requires proper add-ons for the browser used in the T.V. Or in Xbox. It has the ability to view live video on your cell phones. The image isn’t amazing, but you can no doubt see whats going on. It’s all that much better with a bigger screen and makes watching over your home or office super quick and easy.

  • Does anyone know a work around to broadcast live (in real time) via video stream through a BC website?

Does anyone know a work around to broadcast live (in real time) via video stream through a BC website?
    ~Leritha

There is no work around. You would look to use a service, like Twitch, you get a embed code for the live stream, you put that on a page and away you go. All depends on the service your using.
