Stream video to multiple receivers

Hi,
I saw a lot of posts in this categories, but really I coud not extract any clear answer from them.
what I need to do is to send an audio/video stream through the internet to many users, these users are not of fixed numbers and IP addresses, so when a user sends a request for join, I should make him able to watch the contents being streamed.
Is this doable using JMF-RTP APIs, and if it is, do I need to create a separate stream for each request, or I can attach him to the already running stream
Thanks
D.Crane

You and me both.
I manage a streaming server here for lower education in the Salt Lake City School District and our students are now using iPods to view content, but only by downloading iPod m4v versions of our educational movies. It would really be a huge advantage, if we could also let them connect to our RTSP QuickTime streaming server, (via Safari) an view the movie without having to download them, those that are using IPTs.

  • Streaming videos in multiple-bitrates without manually creating video files in each b

I want to have a media file that I can stream at multiple bitrates using FFMPEG (for encoding and multiple bitrate generation) and Flash Media Server (for streaming).
In "LIVE BROADCASTING" ffmpeg made multiple bitrate videos from a single bitrate source but there were no files for the different bitrates. A file would be created for different bitrates when a viewer requested that bitrate streaming video but when a request was terminated the generated file was deleted.
So I searched in Flash Media Server and found (hds-vod), but in hds-vod I should create one file for every bitrate, for example if I have 2000 videos in my archive with HD quality (1024 kbps) I should make 4 videos with different bitrates from one video and together I have created 10,000 videos.
So to have 2000 videos in five bitrates (1024k, 760k, 320k, 145k, 64k), and now I have 10,000 videos. I have space for 2000 videos and I don't have free space in my server for 10,000 video files.
I want to stream "ON-DEMAND" videos in my server and not have the different bitrate files be continually generated like this.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thank you

Unfortunately, you cannot organize the videos on your iPod Touch differently than the way they do it. That *****, I know. Hopefully this will change with 2.0.
    Hope that was helpful.

  • Multiple Live Streaming Video in flash?

    Hello Everyone,
I have this project in mind which I want to create a video
montage of different live streaming videos from a few different
users with their webcam in different locations. There will be the
website which the participants will be able to view the live video
montage in real time. However, I am unsure of where to start with
(live video & server). Therefore I will be really thrilled if
someone knows an example similar to this or someone who can offer
me a lead in this topic!!
I have knowledge in flash and abit of actionscripting.
    Much THANKS!!
    jen

The 2-way video chat module example in the sample chapter
from "Learning Flash Media Server 3" should give you some ideas.
Obviously, you only want the 1-way (user to server) part of
that, as you'll be displaying the video montage I guess in a web
page as a set of regular flash streams.
    Main page
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/ora_learning_fms3.html
    Sample chapter (PDF) :
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/ora_learning_fms3/learning_fms3_ch05 .pdf
It looks to be an O'Reilly book, so you may be able to get
the whole thing online, or get it delivered from O'Reilly or Amazon
    in a few days.

  • Is there any way to change a title for streaming video in QT Pro?

I'm trying to follow several streaming feeds at the same time, all with unhelpful titles.
For example, this is the URL I'm using to view the ROV 2 feed for Discoverer Enterprise.
    http://mfile.akamai.com/97892/live/reflector:21145.asx?bkup=21327
which results in the title, reflector:21145.asx?bkup=21327.

Actually, what I was wanting to know is if I could just change the title while watching the streaming video rather than saving the feed. I can do this in a VLC playlist but I can't seem to figure out how to open multiple windows for feeds in VLC. Also, VLC doesn't let me go back in the cached feed to see and/or save snippets which I can easily do in QuickTime Pro.
I have been able to save the streaming feeds like this although I have the $30 upgrade for Flip4Mac which I needed to export for YouTube. There may be a way to do the same thing with something free but I know less than nothing about video and this worked.
Move the playhead slider to start of snippet
Type "i" to get slider for start of snippet
Move the playhead slider to end of snippet
Type "o" to get slider for end of snippet
Adjust the "i" and "o" sliders if needed.
Right click on the feed and choose copy.
Go to File -> New Player (command N)
Go to Edit -> Paste (command V)
Go to File -> Save (command S) and save as self-contained movie
After that I use the file I just saved with the directions on YouTube to export it to a file that will process on their site.
Here is an example that shows a ROV being lowered from the deck of its mothership into the water.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsYinE5cNx8
I saved it from this streaming feed which I loaded into QuickTime Pro (File -> Open URL or command U and paste URL). I seem to recall I needed the free Flip4Mac to view this in QuickTime.
    http://mfile.akamai.com/97892/live/reflector:47175.asx?bkup=21144
I'm all set with what I want to do other than being able to change the titles on the feeds as I'm watching them in QuickTime Pro.

    video footage.
    17) Fully customizable user interface with choice of colours
    and icons.
RefinedVideo is a complete solution for incorporating video
    in Adobe Connect.
    THE PROBLEM
    ============
If you currently use Presenter then you already know that it
has some serious limitations when it comes to using video. Slide
based video must be in SWF format encoded using the old Sorenson
codec. That means your video files must completely load before they
start playing. This leads to long wait times for users; want to
play a 5 minute video? Expect a 2-3 wait time while the movie
loads. Forget longer content like training videos.
The video's dimensions are also limited as quality degrades
    quickly at large sizes.
Adobe will tell you to put streaming flash video in the
presenter panel but this area is tiny and still uses the old codec.
You cannot pause, rewind and fast-forward the content and what
about if your show runs without the presenter panel showing?
If you update your presentation frequently, expect long wait
times as the video files are embedded and must be uploaded to the
server each time you make a change.
    THE SOLUTION
    =============
RefinedVideo is a complete solution to these issues as it
allows you to play high-quality video in fullscreen resolution with
no waiting. Use streaming FLV format using On2 VP6 compression to
provide higher quality at lower bandwidth with almost no wait times
    in most cases.

    All the Best,
    Terry

Ahh, if only that were entirely true!
While you're correct that you can embed flash in your
Presenter files, it's still not possible to use the latest On2 VP6
codecs which is what you need to do if you want high quality large
size video files. Using the Sorenson codec which is what would be
required by your suggestion, means that the video tends to be quite
pixillated and limited to a small frame size, otherwise you end up
    with lots of buffering delays.
Our solution allows you to run fullscreen video of unlimited
length from within Presenter and it works in self-paced
presentations and meeting room environments too.
On the issue of posting information about a product on a
Forum, my understanding of the concept of a forum is that it's a
place for the exchange of ideas and solutions. This forum is
located under the menu item of "Communities" on the Adobe site and
many people come here looking for ways to solve problems and
    exchange ideas.
I've had numerous people contact me saying they have been
looking for exactly this type of solution but have been unable to
find it. It's only spam to you because you have no need for the
solution but to those looking for a way to deliver specific types
of training content, it's exactly what they came to the Forum to
    find.
It's not my intent to offend, only to raise awareness.

  • How can I stream video from a 2006 MacBook Pro (1,1)

I have a MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo from ~2006 (version 1,1) and I'm trying to figure out how to stream video to my TV. Is there a solution via Apple TV?

    Hey rattlesnake,
Thanks for the question. I see that you are running Mac OS X 10.6.8, which is compatible with the latest version of iTunes (11.1.2):
Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Once you have installed the latest version of iTunes, you can utilize AirPlay from iTunes to an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation):
    iTunes: Using AirPlay
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5922
To stream music or videos from your computer to an Apple TV or AirPort Express:
    1. Connect your computer and Apple TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
    2. Open iTunes.
    3. Locate and click the icon to the left of the iTunes LCD window.
    4. Select your Apple TV, AirPort Express, or AirPlay-enabled speakers or receivers from the list of available devices that appears and begin playback.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Question about networking iMac and streaming video to TV

I have the 24" iMac 2.66GHz with 4 G ram. Currently using Motorola SBG900 (Docsis 2) cable modem & router to stream Comcast through house (another PC, iPhones, LG Blu Ray player/digital video streamer).
Recently acquired a Netgear Rangemax 3700 which is supposed to be the fastest current wireless router. Here are my questions:
    1) Can I just use the Motorola SBG900 as modem ONLY and run the ethernet out of it to the Netgear router (thus bypassing the router built into the SBG900). Will this accelerate the streaming of video to other receivers?
    2) Would I be better off with a Motorola 6120 Docsis 3 Cable modem feeding the Netgear router (even though my Comcast cable feed is Docsis 2, not 3)?
    3) Since my Comcast account is rated 10 Mbps max (though it sometimes goes up to 15 or so late at night) and I believe the existing Motorola SBG90 is rated at 54 Mbps, is the limiting factor the speed of my Comcast connection and all else doesn't matter? That is, is it impossible to speed up my streaming or download speed without a faster connection to the Internet?
    4) What kinds of connections are there that are faster than Comcast cable connections?
Basically, I don't want to waste money or time if I'm already at the maximum throughput available given my connection. If I can get marginal speed increases by adding new modem and router, that's fine. I'll do that.
    Thanks for your help.
PS: I owned and returned the Airport Extreme Base Station. It did not increase the speed of my connection or streaming, but then it tested very poorly at www.smallnetbuilder.com -- about half the speed of the Netgear Rangemax.

Can't help with Q 1 + 2, but here are some things to consider re:
+3) Since my Comcast account is rated 10 Mbps max (though it sometimes goes up to 15 or so late at night) and I believe the existing Motorola SBG90 is rated at 54 Mbps, is the limiting factor the speed of my Comcast connection and all else doesn't matter? That is, is it impossible to speed up my streaming or download speed without a faster connection to the Internet?+
My Comcast account is rated 15 Mbps and I never get that. I've done everything I can here including Cat 6 cables (instead of Cat 5), but the major problem/hangup in my case is: Comcast is using 20-year old buried cables from their hub (approx. 10 mi across town) to the neighborhoods here - those cables are "leftovers" from the company Comcast purchased the rights from. So, we not only have old cables, but the little boxes all over the neighborhood feed at least 6 - 10 homes each, so you are sharing the available bandwidth with the neighbors. And, whenever everyone seems to be online at the same time, my downloads slow down to a c r a w l (as slow or slower than dialup occasionally!).
So, unless you have a better/newer cable setup where you are, you need to keep that in mind; in that case, no matter what you do, you are at the mercy of Comcast's equipment and your neighbors' usage.
    4) The only one I know of is FioS (fiber optic).

  • CP6: Streaming Video Doesn't Work in HTML5

Apparently, streaming video just doesn't work if you publish to HTML5 from Captivate 6.  I have that directly from Adobe tech support.
I have been working with Adobe tech support on this issue, but I want to do a bit of crowd-sourcing and see if anyone in the community has come up with a solution. Has anyone found a solution or workaround for this?
We are publishing courses to HTML5 and SWF, and the courses contain streaming video.  The streamed video works PERFECTLY in the SWF version in multiple browsers.  The HTML5 vesion just....doesn't.  By that I mean that the places where the video is supposed to appear are just blank - no black or white placeholder, no controls but no video - just a whole lot of nothing.  The other objects in the published SCO work great, but no video.  Again - the failure is ONLY in HTML5.  Apparently it has something to do w/ the fact that HTML5 handles video "differently," though I have yet to get an explanation of what that actually means.
We've tried several video formats, but none of them work.
We've tested by publishing to just HTML5 and playing it locally in a browser, and by trying to play it from our LMS and from SCORM Cloud (in various browsers/platforms and on various mobile devices) - none work.
All thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.
    Laura

Thank you, but as I said - I have been working w/ Adobe on this.  I received word about the update, immediately asked my contact if the update addressed the HTML5 and streaming issue, and he said no - it did not.  I went ahead and tried it, just in case, and indeed it still does not work.
As I understand it, this is not an isolated incident where it doesn't work for me - it's an actual problem with the software.  The way that Captivate 6 publishes streaming video is incompatible with the way that HTML5 "understands" video.
I was hoping someone had come up with a good workaround or found a solution independently.

  • Does Captivate 7/8 support *Dynamic* Streaming Video for synchronized Multi-Slide videos?

I'm experimenting with inserting Streaming Video into Captivate Lessons.  I've set up an Adobe Media Server (AMS) to stream the video.
When inserting Multi-Slide Synchronized video, it's not clear whether/how I can insert a Dynamic Streaming Video link in a synchronized Multi-Slide Video.
(The Dynamic videos can switch between videos of varying quality based on the user's available bandwidth.)
I think you're supposed use a URL that points to a manifest file (.F4M), which catalogs the videos of varying bitrates.  However, I can't seem to get it to work in Captivate and Adobe is a little vague on how/if one references the manifest file. (i.e. I can't find any examples.)
So, does Captivate support dynamic streaming video?
If not, which is more robust in Captivate? HTTP progressive download or regular (non-Dynamic) RTMP Streaming Video?

    Thanks Erik.
We did some more tests/checking-around and have convinced ourselves that the URL needs to point to the manifest file in order for Dynamic Media Streaming to work.
When we examined the Adobe Media Server sample web page (below), we found buttons to select different media sources.
The 'Multiple Bitrate' button under RTMP Dynamic Streaming Sample is mapped to the URL of an F4M (manifest) file.
The 'Single Bitrate' button is mapped to an individual mp4 file.
We also found more clues in the FlowPlayer RTMP F4M page.
Also, I'm guessing that Captivate can't handle adaptive bitrate streaming from non-RTMP sources based on the menu options. (See screen capture below)
If the menu above is correct, the first choice is the opposite of streaming media, because it says 'Progressive Download'.  (Progressive download caches the video file on the client machine.)
The next one is for private Adobe Media Streaming and the third is for 3rd-party Adobe Media Streaming services.
So, I'm pretty much convinced that it's not supported.

  • Firefox Problems Watching Streaming Video (Netflix, Hulu, etc.)

I have Netflix, hulu, VH1, etc. accounts that I use currently to watch movies, t.v. shows, videos, etc. online (desktop) as my only means to any entertainment. I continually have problems with unexpected pauses, starts/stops, "getting stuck" & having to reboot.
I use the free version of Advanced Care Systems to "maintain" my computer. In the last month, I must used the ACS several times a day in order to watch streaming video. Something is obviously wrong. The last time I tried Google Chrome to watch, I did not have the same issues as often.

  • Streaming videos freezing....

    Greetings all:
I have all the up to date software, SL and ITUNES, and lately, all of my streaming videos to my wirelessly connected ATV have been freezing. I have looked on the site, and found istumbler to use as a tool; when I opened it to check the channels, I found all of my wireless devices to be under 'bonjour' (two expresses, printers and ATV as well as other computers.
I guess that I still really don't understand what bonjour is. Can someone explain it to me and suggest how I might change my setup to allow uninterrupted streaming again? I have yet to restore factory settings on the ATV but plan on doing that soon...

  • Whats the best way to stream videos?

whats the best way to stream video thru plumtree portal? What all it requires? (technology/application/server/plumtree development?)

    Hello Kuljit,
For the windows platform you could set up Windows Media services. It can be configured to play all sorts of media files. I created a "radio station" portlet that multiple channels and from the portal I could select a drop down and the station would play that stream. I would make sure that media services are not being gatewayed and that anyone that can see your portal can see the videos. Here is my html that I made a portlet out of: This will not show the video window. You can increase the size of the object to show the video window with controls. Check out MSDN online for configuration of the <object>
    <FORM NAME="streamForm"> <INPUT NAME="btnPlay" TYPE="Button" VALUE="Play" onclick="MediaPlayer1.controls.Play();"> <INPUT NAME="btnStop" TYPE="Button" VALUE="Stop" onclick="MediaPlayer1.controls.stop();"> <select name="musicGroup" onChange="changeStream()"> <option value="">-- Select --</option> <option value="barenakedladies">Barenaked Ladies</option> <option value="pinkfloyd">Pink Floyd</option> </select> </FORM>
    <OBJECT CLASSID="clsid:6BF52A52-394A-11D3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" ID="MediaPlayer1" height="0" width="00"> <PARAM NAME="Name" VALUE="MediaPlayer1"> <param name="uiMode" value="invisible"> <PARAM NAME="TransparentAtStart" Value="true"> <PARAM NAME="AutoStart" Value="true"> <PARAM NAME="AnimationatStart" Value="false"> <PARAM NAME="ShowControls" VALUE="0"> <PARAM NAME="autoSize" Value="false"> <PARAM NAME="displaySize" Value="0"></OBJECT><script language="javascript">function changeStream(){ df = document.streamForm; if(df.musicGroup.selectedIndex != 0) {  MediaPlayer1.url = "mms://MBRUCELT-W3k/"+df.musicGroup[df.musicGroup.selectedIndex].value; } }</script>
This works for the latest version of Window Media Player. The mms:// in my script is a call to Windows Media Services. That is the part that should be accessible from outside the portal.

12/13/2014 I suddenly no longer stream videos because of a blocked plug in on my Mac Safari 5.1.10  MacOSX 10.6.8
updated to snow leopard& mountain lion I use adobe flash. My preferences allow all plug ins.

If my experience with a similarly aged computer is any indicator, you'll notice an immediately speed hit once you've upgraded to Mavericks. Each OS X update tends to be more memory hungry than the previous and my 2007 iMac wasn't happy with Lion until I upgraded the RAM and at that point Lion performance roughly matched Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion and then Mavericks shaved some speed off again. Mavericks on the 2007 iMac was okay for the most part but switching between applications was slow as was the fileselector.
My 2009 MBP saw similar slowdowns with Lion but I was above to upgrade it to 8GB which made a big difference. (My iMac was limited to 6GB) but I still saw a significant speed hit with Mt Lion when I tried to run multiple memory intensive applications. Seeing how my wife's MacBook Air dealt with Mt Lion with only 4GB I decided to install an SSD in the MBP and wow what a difference. Tried it with the iMac using a FireWire800 enclosure and saw similar improvement.
So to boil it down to one sentence, you are going to see a significant speed hit with only 4GB but if you can afford to upgrade your drive to an SSD you'll be amazed at how well that computer can run.

Every time I watch any streaming video content the fans on my computer immediately come on. Does not seem to happen any other time. Which means it is happening even when the computer is under a relatively light load. Any ideas?

I'm new to the streaming video world but I do have FMS 3.5 up and running and have encoded some wmv and mp4 videos to flv using adobe encoder CS4.  I followed the tutorials and have created the swf files in flash CS4 and the videos are streaming as expected.
The primary issue I am having is the videos tend to be choppy at times.  They pause, run slowly, audio pops and just overall; glitchy.  Typically at the beginning but some times throughout.  The test files at the FMS admin page stream fine without issue from the same server.  We have tested the site/streams from multiple providers all at cable modem speed or above.
We are running FMS 3.5 developer version and wish to purchase the full version but I really need to fix this issue to prove it's value.
As a bit of background we are running/testing FMS 3.5 from a server with the following specs:
    Redhat EL 4.6-32
SuperMicro X7DBU Intel Xeon QuadCore DualProc Sata [2Proc]
    Intel Xeon-Harpertown 5420-Quadcore [2.5GHz]
    OEM 4GB ECC FB-DIMM DDR2
Mainboard \ Onboard \ SATAII Controller
    (2) Western Digital WD Caviar RE 16 WD2500YS
    Uplink speed 10 (Mbps)
Bandwidth allotment 2000 GB(Virtual Private Rack)
Any input regarding how to test to identify the issue or past experiences with the same issue will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.  If there are any experienced individuals out there that could get us up to speed quickly we could discuss that offline.
    Thanks!
    Keith

    Hi Jay,
    Answers to your questions:
    1. What bitrate (audio+video) are your files encoded at?
FLV output file from original wmv: using On2 VP6, 638x480, framerate 29.97, stereo audio 128kbps, video bitrate encoding VBR, encoding pass one, 1,500kbps, undershoot 90, quality: good.
    2. When you experience this choppy playback, how many clients are consuming video from the server at that time?
1 or 2; we're only testing now and there is almost no load
    3. What is the bufferTime set to in your client side code?
I'm not sure what this is set to; I know we haven't adjusted it.  Where would I find this code?
    4. Is the server in a datcenter, or is it running on a residential or commercial ISP line?
server is in the Seattle Softlayer datacenter
Thanks so much for the help!
    Keith
