Streamin wmv within director

We have a wmv file on a streaming server. In director a link
to this file is imported and placed on the stage. There is no code
in the director movie. This file is published to a shockwave file
on the following location:
http://www.pienterepeuter.nl/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/PPP_CONTENT/Cast_Libraries/TST_WMV.htm
(please do report also correct behaviour!)
The problem:
in Internet Explorer 6.0.2900 this file won't play when the
mousecursor is on top of the white area during the movieload. When
the window is deactivated and activated using the right mouse
button in the taskbar, then the video will play.
This problem does
not occur in Firefox 1.5.0.4.
We used Director 10.1.1 to create the file.
Does anybody know what is going on?

It depends upon the codec you used when you made the wmv
file. If you
used one of the ones that comes with Windows XP and Vista,
then the user
does not need to do anything, and you do not need to do
anything special
to make sure it works. All PCs with XP and Vista will be able
to open
wmv files (though some codecs work by default and others do
not).

  • Wmv within CC Pro ?? on a Mac

    Hello,
I know it is still impossible to directly export a wmv from Premiere/Mediaencoder on a Mac.
But can anybody tell me how I can create a professional looking wmv on a Mac?
All these free software and 30$ converters make really bad quality...
    Please help!
    Thank you, Konrad
ps: I still have the pro version of Sorenson queeze. But the encoded wmv results are not good looking and have a very big data size ;-(
Update to Squeeze 10 doesn't support wmv export on a Mac at all...
    Any ideas...!?!?

Do you have Flip4mac installed? OSX and Quicktime cannot play them without this component. You do not need and should not have the crummy, dated, non working MS WMP application on your mac at all, despite the misguided advice.

Anyone had luck using the keyboard to PageUp/PageDown and/or

I've had it working, but only intermittently. I'm using

  • Convert DV/MPEG4 to WMV within Final Cut/Compressors/QTime??

    Hi
I have a 45 second piece of corporate footage which originates on DV.
For internet streaming and for forwarding by email I 'reduced' this to MPEG4 and the quality looked great and it plays fine on most peoples systems.
However my problem is this: Some of the email recipients who are PC based are a bit old and unwieldy. They have only Windows Media Player on their system and are unwilling or unable to download Quicktime or Realplayer... Tsk, i know, don't ask!!. Anyhow how does one go about outputting the necessary file so that it becomes a WMV. Can I do this using the conversion tools on the Final Cut Bundle or should I be looking to other readily available tools to do this?
From the bit of searching I've done online one popular way of creating a true .wmv file is to use Quicktime Pro and software called wmv-9 available from Popwire. Does anyone have any experience of this before I shell out to buy it.
As a work-around for the time being I converted the MPEG4 file to an .mpg file using Toast's VCD creation facility. I found that the .mpg file generated will play in Windows Media Player and RealPlay but not in older versions of Quicktime.
So basically I have an MPEG4 file that plays in Quicktime and RealPlayer (..but not in any Windows MP) and a .mpg file that will play in Windows MP and RealPlayer but not all Quicktime Players.
Is there a file format I can convert it to (..or force it to) that is more universally accepted by all 3 main media players. I have used ffmpegX in the past for other conversions but this time around it does seem to be suitable.
If the bundled encoders can do the job what output settings, codecs etc should I use in Compressor, Quicktime Converter etc to achieve this?
Many thanks in advance for any help anyone is able to contribute.

An easy solution is be to use a Windows system with an analog video input card. Connect your Mac to your DV device, then connect the DV device's analog outputs to the Windows system. On the Windows system, download and install the free Windows Media Encoder from Microsoft. Use it to convert the feed from FCP's timeline to WMV format in real time.

  • How do I add playback control to a .swf file in Director 11.5 (PLEASE HELP!)

    Hi,
I am currently trying to add controls (play/stop/etc) to a .swf file within Director 11.5. The movie imports fine and plays perfectly, however there does seems to be built in options to add the control in the same way you would for a .mov.
The .swf file has been created with controls and plays outside of director fine. When it is placed into director the controls disappear and leave a white space.
Is there a step by step guide somewhere or can someone give me a step by step guide? I'm fairly new to director and won't know some of the terms etc....
The movie is 30 mins long and requires the user to move to various points and pause the playback. I cannot change the format of the file either.
Please let me know if you need any more info...
PLEASE HELP, I have to complete this in 2 days.
    W

Probably too late for your project but...
You can do this by using 3 sprites in addition to the SWF. In this example, I've named them "videoPlay", "videoRewind, and "videoStop". The SWF in this case was named "video."
Apply this script to each of the 3 sprites.
    property mySprite
    on beginSprite me
      mySprite = sprite(me.spriteNum)
    end
    on mouseUp me
      case mySprite.name of
        "videoPlay":
          sprite("video").play()
        "videoStop":
          sprite("video").stop()
        "videoRewind":
          sprite("video").stop()
          sprite("video").rewind()
      end case
    end

  • How do I open te files in older versions of Director?

I made a movie in Director 11 and it doesn't open in director
    10. It show's a message like "file is too new". I tried to find in
Director 11 an option for saving in older versions of director but
    I didn't find anything. How's that possible?

    It isn't possible to directly convert a D11 file to a D10
    file. The
file format is not backwards compatible and there is no way
    within
Director to save it as an older version. There is a guy named
    Valentin
who made a XML exporter for the Director format, so using his
    scripts
you can save the D11 version to XML, then reconvert that XML
    into D10.
It is only a beta thing, and there is no official support for
    it, but
you can try it for free and see if it works for you.

  • Printing from Director movie using print()

I have created a one frame flash swf, put it in channel 1 and
put it off stage left - an on stage print button correctly prints
the swf when clicked from within director authoring enviroment, but
no response when clicked within the protected director movie, not
    even the print dialogue box.
Anyone know why this might be the case?
    Thanks
    Tom

You're probably missing an xtra. In authoring mode, open your
    movie, go
to the modify menu, select movie, from there select Xtras....
    This will
open a window where you can add or remove xtras for your
    movie.
The first step is to clear the list. Select the first xtra
    and then hit
the Remove button until the list is empty. Close the window.
    Open the
Window again. Now you should have a list of all of the needed
    xtras,
except for third party scripting xtras. In any case be sure
    to include
all of the needed xtras either with your movie when you
    create the
projector, or in an external folder and include that with
    your projector.

  • Kiosk application - Need to controller lights (on/off) from Director

    |
I have been searching for a solution to a project I am

    to a

fish built around the kiosk touchscreen. The plan is that
    when the touch
a button, the display will play a video with voice-over
    (simple) but
also switch on a spotlight pointed to that specific fish
    being
highlighted. There are 12 total in this exhibit. After
    searching for
hours for a solution (it seemed simple back in the 80's/90's

    via a

    Just an update...
I found an excellent solution to this configuration. These
    are Web-based
Power Switch boxes with all the switching and relay
    components housed
within an enclosed, turn-key box. All for under $ 90 -
    contains 8
switching outlets, 2-on outlets... Can turn on/off with a
    simple http
command. I am switching 12 lights using CURL.exe (via
    BuddyAPI, shell)
from a kiosk application. You can control over the web,
    however I was
running on a simple LAN setup with just my system, router and
    2 of these
    web switch units.

  • Load a director level into flash // is it possible?

    Hi,
I am planning a complex system where eventually users will need to do immersion into 3rd dimension and also play lots of flash quizz.
I know director can load flash which makes it obvious choice for development but coding in lingo (a non POO language) maybe a little bit of regression looking the average age of the development team that iam building. So looking forward, i wonder if it's possible to make flash load director levels.
    Thank you

    Venian,
Director used to be considered flash's big sister: http://www.adobe.com/products/director/
Btw i just found out that you can use javascript within Director making it then perfect choice for my project.

  • Pulling fla source into director

Does anyone know how/if you can pull a flash movie(s) into
Director and edit them within Director?
Here's the situation. I have three flash movies that I have
the source for (fla) that make up a preloader, the main movie and
an exit scene. I have been asked to convert the intanet web page
into a CD for distribution. Is there any way that I can pull the
FLA's into Director and be able to edit them from within the
Director console? I do not just want to import the swf. I would
like to be able to convert a Flash file into a dir file.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I appreciate your help, Sean. So I can't pull the source into
Director. I guess it's off to Amazon to pick up a Director Book.
    A (very) short overview:
I have three swf movies that comprise a preloader screen
(zipping images and whizbang text) that fades into the main
interactive movie. The main movie is basically an in-depth web page
(all 17mb of it) with images, text, and animations. When you click
exit, you are directed to a third credits movie. This was all
developed in Flash a while ago and has been periodically updated.
Now, the 'boss' wants to be able to market what we've got
when she's at conventions, meetings, etc. She likes the intranet
page so much that she wants the content put on CD for distribution.
I need to take out some of the proprietary stuff and add a few
other links, e-mail addresses, change around some text and add some
    video clips.
After researching, it seems that Director is a better way to
go for this purpose than Flash. I guess I can still make the
projector in Flash but the more that I read up on Director, the
more that I am impressed with it's ability to easily distribute
    this kind of media.
Not only that, but I guess that I am kind of proud of my
creation. I like the fact that Director is so much harder to
    decompile than Flash.

  • Director 12 on MAC not playing .flv files; only Quicktime

Although Adobe has now abandoned .flv as a supported format (which is too bad) I used it for putting embeded cue points into the movie to trigger Flash actionscript and create essentially closed captions (under the video).
Then I use the .swf movies within Director.
The problem is, on my machine, and some others, it works as expected.  On some machines, the .flv never loads and therefore never plays.  The Flash video component skin looks like it's just constantly trying to download the movie (green bars moving in the playback scrubber).
As a work-around; I now have put in text behind the videos saying "Due to the Adobe vs Apple Wars, the video isn't palying on all Apple computers.  Please type 'a' to play the video in a window, and 'x' to close that window before proceeding".
That, essentially, opens a MIAW (Movie in a Window) using lingo from the director shell, which just plays a Quicktime movie...and a bar underneath that reminds them to type "x" to close the window.
The difficulty with that is multi-fold; including
having to supply all videos in (2) formats (Quicktime and FLV) which is pushing the size limits of a DVD,
and more importantly it doesn't have the cue points for closed captioning.  I believe there are ways to embed that in the Quicktime movie; but that will be an additional burden, and
it's still not a very graceful way to integrate video playback.  The .flv's look great; and the I like how the playback component skin can have audio control, timer references, etc.
    Any advice?

A couple things may be at work here, and most likely related to the software installed on the targeted systems.
First, It could be a MIME type issue on the playback machine.  Typically FLV and F4V aren't "known" file extensions in the MIME list. They are added to the system MIME list when the Flash Player plugin or the now-deprecated Adobe Media Player is installed.
Secondly, The older versions of Mac (pre-Lion) supported FLV playback in QuickTime using Perian (also now deprecated Perian - The swiss-army knife of QuickTime® components ).  I believe that was using Quicktime 7 versus Quicktime X (correct me if I'm wrong).  Mavericks doesn't really playback in QuickTime 7 anymore, even if you try to open using QT7.  It "forwards" over to version X  - which is annoying in my opinion as sometimes I want to use my QT7 Pro features.  But I digress...
An option that *may* work for you is to use an XML cue point list with the H.264 MP4 steaming videos instead of the FLV playback.  Then, do a message sent to the sprites to trigger a member .text change for your captions.  I know that CS5 Media Encoder had that capability to output an XML file.  Not certain if CS6 or CC retained this feature since they deprecated FLV/F4V.
Using Adobe Media Encoder CS5 | Adobe Developer Connection
Some ideas and rambling.    Hope it's of assistance.
    Cheers,
    Monica

  • Director 11 and Actionscript 3

I am having trouble getting some Action Script 3 Flash movies

So AS3 code works but objects / components don't, is that
right? Or is it a rendering problem?
The D11 flash asset xtra is based on flash player 9.0.28.0
You can import SWF version 9 files containing AS1 and AS2
    routines.
The flash asset is full functional, but the AVM2 output is
    ignored in Director 12.
sorry but I may be a bit confused here..
I wrote all of the code and compliled the flash file using
as3 code in flash cs3, the code executes just fine and outputs
trace commands to directors' debug window that were bound to as3
tween and movieclip events. By 'AVM2 output is ignored in Director
12' do you mean the rendering or all code? If the latter is true
then how come my as3 code is running? Apart from that i do find it
a bit strange that director can use flash as3 components but flash
    within director can't.
'edited: a hotfix is expected to be released soon. ' are you
certain about this? I have a large ongoing project that would
benefit from as3 components and as3 code support as I'd like to use
    it for all UI elements.

  • Problems with embedding swfs into Director 11.5

    Hello everyone,
I am hoping someone can help me and please bear with me - I don't know a lot about director - I can do some Lingo and get around in the program to make things work.
Right now I am working on an interactive presentation where the user can click a button to view an animation. I am using Director 11.5 for my presentation and have made my animations in After Effects CS3 -- from there I converted my .mov files to .flv files using the Adobe Media Encoder CS4... then I took my .flv file into Flash and published it as a swf file.
The problem that I am having is that when I play the presentation (within Director and after publishing the .app/projector file) the swf files are playing - but there is all this glitchy-artifact stuff all over them. Does anyone know why this would be happening? When I play the swf files in the flash player they look great. Before, when I was using Flash MX and Director MX, I never had any problems with embedding my swf animation files - and they played great - without any artifact. Any and all help would be much appreciated as this project is due in the next few days and I would prefer to figure out a solution rather than uninstalling Flash CS4 and Director 11.5 - and going back to MX.
I toyed with the thought that my video card isn't good enough but I tested the .app file on another machine and the glitchy-artifacts were still there. I have attached a jpg showing the artifact that appears.
    I am running Mac OS X 10.5.7
    Dual 2 GHz G5 PowerPC
    ATI Radeon X800 XT
    Thank you!

Sorry... here is the image again and I think the problem might be my machine -- it is very old (~4+ years) and when I tested my .app on a newer intel mac here it worked fine... but maybe I am missing something -- it seems odd that I can see the swf fine in flash player but it is glitchy when played through director or the .app projector file
