  • RAM streamed audio - capturing problem

I have come from the PC camp where I can fire up Realplayer and sound recorder and record the audio stream (for later listening).
Now on the MAC I find I am unable to achieve this. I tried AudioHijack and it required SoundFlower. This seemed to work but screwed up other audio settings which I didn't want screwed up. I ended up uninstalling Soundflower.
Does anyone know how I can achieve this? I tried Audacity but it seems to only support 'line in'. I tried various other internet-radio apps but they didn't seem very happy about connecting to the sources I want (BBC) let alone allowing me to save/record the stream. I tried VLC but it didn't want to play all the stream and I couldn't see a way of saving it anyway.
I'm running Leopard and all I get in the Audio configuration under INPUT is 'Internal Microphone' and 'Line in'.
Is there no application out there that could perform this simple task?

You should uninstall Soundflower then. I don't think you need it. According to the Soundflower description:
    *What It Is*
Soundflower is used to allow all system audio to be hijacked. With Soundflower installed, all System Audio can be hijacked at once and used, instead of grabbing audio from just one application at a time.
You said you are trying to record from the BBC. That means you are trying to record one application's output, not from everything that's running. Therefore, it sounds like you don't need to have Soundflower installed at all.
All you need is the default Audio Hijack behavior, which is to record a single application's audio stream.
I've been using Audio Hijack for years, and to avoid conflicts, I still have not installed the Extras (Instant Hijack, Soundflower, and Schedule Helper). So choose Audio Hijack Pro > Install Extras, click the Soundflower tab, and click Uninstall and see if you can then do what you want to do without trouble.

  • Capturing streaming audio on Macbook Air?

I want to capture streaming audio from a website on my MacBook Air. But is this possible when the MBA lacks an external microphone? How do I go about it? The sound quality needs to be decent. My compture is brand new and has OS X10.9.1 if that's relevant. Many thanks!

There are tons of such audio (and video) capture apps on the APP STORE, such as twisted wave, sound studio, Amadeus, etc etc
more professional and pricey APPS such as Adobe tools, screen flow, capture screen.
most of the cheap ones can be had for $5 or so.
Why do you need a Mic? audio can be captured internally.    Your Air does have an onboard external mic on the left side, either 2 holes, or older Air one larger multi-hole mic input.
for web audio however you want to use an application.

  • How do you capture realplayer streaming audio?

I am in an online grad program and several of my lectures are only offered via realplayer streaming audio. Some are available for download into iTunes, however there are critical ones that are only streaming realplayer. I have tried everything to capture, download, etc. this video to no avail. Any advice anyone can provide is GREATLY appreciated. I am able to capture the video, but it does not have audio with quicktime. I would be happy simply capturing the audio at this point. Does anyone know of an app that will capture the realplayer audio? I've tried Snapz Pro but it does not work with Mountain Lion.
    Thanks so much!

Try using WireTap Studio (also from Ambrosia SW).   If it doesn't work at first, you may also need to download & install the Add-On file AmbrosiaAudioSupport.kext.

  • How to use Audacity to capture streaming audio

    Hi all-
I have Audacity and am trying to figure out how to capture streaming audio from an internet radio station. Have heard this is possible, but as yet have not been able to figure out how to do it. Any ideas?

    Hello,
but when I created a package and added OdiWaitForLogData, pb began. the step that has OdiWaitForLogData succeed. but my interface failed. the step "Load Data" failed.why?
There is no reason for that. WaitForXXX does not affect the data stored in the CDC infrastructure, but just detects it.
    - What type of CDC are you using: simple or consistent set?
    - Did your interface used journal data only?
    - What error did you get precisely on the "Load Data" task?
Could you tell me how to schedule a package? For scheduling, I think you should have a look at "Generating a Scenario" in the user manual. under the generated scenario node, you'll see the schedule node and you can start scheduling from here.

  • How to Capture Streaming Audio

I'm looking for a technique or app for capturing streaming audio from my 3GS. Any ideas?

Check the app store as I know there are apps that will stream and capture audio.  Basically, the app that is doing the streaming has to do the capturing as well.  Otherwise, any recording app running in the foreground mutes the audio from any backgrounded app.

  • I want to be able to use airplay to stream audio to another iOS device, and then use that audio stream to be used when recording video instead of the built in microphone / microphone input. Is this possible?

I want to be able to use airplay to stream audio to another iOS device, and then use that audio stream to be used when recording video instead of the built in microphone / microphone input. Is this possible?

A third-party app probably cannot obtain a stream from another app. To the best of my knowledge, such a capability is not provided in the software development kit, apps being "sandboxed" from each other and so allowed to communicate only in very specific and limited ways.
I'm not completely sure what you mean by "limitations on video capture". An iPhone, to the best of my knowledge, can natively record video only through it's built-in camera, and audio while doing video recording only through the built-in microphone or mic/headphone jack. There might be a video recording app that would allow audio input from an external device connected to the dock connector, but I'm not sure.

  • Media Encoder not finding "audio capture device"

    Hi,
Im using Adobe Flash Media Encoder with Dxtory for Twitch streaming, and at first it worked fine. Recorded both my mic and game audio perfectly. Then seemingly suddenly, I fired it up  and it wouldn't stream the game audio. It would my Mic, but thats it. I then unplugged the mic and it started saying I had no Audio Capture Device. I checked in Dxtory and its set up the same as it was when it was working. It picks up both the mic and speakers like it should. I have uninstalled this program multiple times, both 3.1 and 3.2 versions, and each time when I re-download it, it loads up the same profile I had before. So when I am uninstalling it, its not uninstalling everything for some reason. Even though the program is no where to be found after its uninstalled. I have downloaded xsplit, and it picks up the game audio and my mic. So its just this program. Anyone have any ideas? I cant seem to find anything online about this issue.
    Thanks!

From where?  PP sequence?  PP bin?  PP Source Monitor?  Watch folder?

  • Stream audio from a source

    Hi,
I was wondering if it were possible to stream audio from an internet radio station. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Many thanks in advance!

    I found this: http://techtips.salon.com/use-iphone-webcam-3623.html
I would suggest the use of an analog capture card, like a Dazzle, and the official Apple Composite video cable. I'm not sure if it would work, but the systematics would be (Output) (phone)—(Input)-Output (capture card)—Input (your PC)
I can't verify this, maybe if I get the Apple AV cable I can, since I have everything else.

  • Is it possible to do the audio capture and playback simultaneously?

    In short :
Is it possible to do the audio capture and playback simultaneously? . If it is not supported directly by Sun, pl suggest another way to achieve the same.
    In detail:
I am doing a voice chat application by using the streaming through UDP . I am able to play the byte stream. But , is it possible to capture sound simultaneously (while playing the audio) to send to the other end?
Edited by: dhillarun on Jan 4, 2008 7:11 AM

If you're Airplaying from you computer, you might be able to do this. Here's what I would try:
Go to the Airplay icon in iTunes. You should see both your Apple TV and your speakers listed as options. Select "Multiple speakers." You'll see both devices together. Turn the volume all the way down on the Apple TV. You should be getting the video on the TV, but only hear audio through the speakers.
Using the "Multiple Speakers" option will sync the output of your devices so that the sound matches the picture.
I haven't tried this myself, but I'm thinking this would work. However, this approach will only work when using Airplay from your computer – not from am iPad or iPhone – as they don’t have the "Multiple Speakers" option (as far as I know). It also won't work with content streamed directly to your ATV, obviously, because there's no way to stream from ATV to other devices.
Let me know if this works.

  • How can I record streaming audio???

    HP HDX 18T laptop
    Windows 7
    NCH Wavepad sound editor
Hi, I desperately need help with this issue:
Is there anyway I can turn "OFF" the speakers so sound does not come from them, but STILL have audio levels active internally so I record streaming audio with my NCH software Wavepad program?
I've been trying everything .. in the Control Panel setup, I am trying to "capture" streaming audio with my Wavepad program, but I can only attenuate the "mic" levels that the actual laptop picks up .. for example, if there's background noise in the room, it picks that up - I DON'T WANT THAT! - I only want the streaming audio from a recording - not the background sounds in the room.
Folks at NCH Software keep telling me to check with laptop of Windows advice.
Wavepad used to do this easily and cleanly before (well, on other computers and other Windows versions)
If I go into Windows Mixer, and turn down Speakers, it also forces to turn down System Sounds - I do not want system sounds down; only speakers.
    Summary:
I want to record streaming audio into my audio capture software.
I want to independantly cancel laptop speaker output, while maintaining audio levels for streaming capture.
I DO NOT want extraneous sounds in the room's background picked up by the laptop's mic, which then interferes with the recording.
(or is there a Windows program that will do this for me? I spent $$$ on the deluxe Wavepad software ,, but it's not doing what it used to do)
Any help, or advice will be GREEEEEEatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks, Michael

    Fixed (I think ....?)
Turns out there's no "Stereo Mix" option in my Control Panel sound boxes .. apparantly no one else has it either in Windows 7??? depending on sound card ...
Well, a work-around is to connect a male mini-plug "Y" into [one of] the laptop's headphone outs; then run a mini-plug cord (male-to-male) from it to the laptop mic "in" ... that leaves one unused female mini-plug on the "Y" .. which you can then run your headphones (or speakers ) off of.
Found that solution online .. got the parts; it works now.
Still baffled why there's no "Stereo Mix" in Windows 7 ....?

  • USB X-Mod Streaming Audio Capt

I have a Dell Inspirion with a basic soundboard. I added a USB X-mod (no Express card boards available yet?), I justed added Media Creator 9 and want to capture streaming audio off the internet.
MC9 doesn't recognize the internal card. Can I loop out from the headphone or speaker jack to the mic to do this? Is there another way to do this?

From what I'm told, it shouldn't have any special restrictions any different than any other USB soundcard, or any normal card for that matter. If anyone knows different about Vista's DRM let me know please, but I do not believe it will be an issue.

  • Lost audio capture 'what you hear' from conexant

I have an HP Pavilion DV2278ea laptop running Vista 32bit and have all OS updates apart from those announced in the last few weeks. I recently upgraded the software for the Conexant High Definition onboard sound card to the latest August 08 version 4.36.7.60 C. All seemed fine until I came to do an audio capture from an internet stream using Roxio. The only capture device listed was the microphone - there used to be one that said Conexant Audio 'What you Hear' to capture anything heard through the speakers. On checking Sounds in Control Panel the only recording device is the microphone. Sound works okay from both the internal and external speakers. I've tried rolling back the drivers but its still the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
    This question was solved.

Ok this has driven me mad for the last few days but I found the solution:
Windows Vista Recording Input Source selections for recording streaming audio, sound from media players or just about anything you can hear coming through your speakers are Hidden from view and Disabled by Default. (I'm sorry - but why!!?!   )
If your sound card/system supports recording streaming audio Input Source selections such as: Stereo Mix, What U Hear, Wave Out Mix, Wave or a similar selection, here's what you need to do to Enable it for recording:
Right-Click on your Speaker Icon in your System Tray, (near your clock), select "Recording Devices".
In the Sound window that opens, near the top, select the "Recording" TAB.
Move your cursor down to where devices are shown.
Right-Click in the blank white area and select "Show Disabled Devices".
If supported, new selections will appear such as: Stereo Mix, What U Hear, etc. Right-Click on "Stereo Mix", "What U Hear" or similar and select "Enable".
Right-Click on the same item again and select "Set as Default Device". Click OK.
Now in the recorder's Options in the "Input Source" box, you should have the "Stereo Mix", "What U Hear" or similar source available to select for recording streaming, etc.
(You can also Enable other hidden selections like Microphone, Line In, etc. if they are not already shown).

  • Some audio questions (connection to stereo and streaming audio)

    1) Whats the best way to connect my stereo? Rught now I am using 1/8" from the headphone jack to the RCA jacks on my stereo. Is there a better way ( I see on the apple store site some type of monster cable that looks like it may perform a similar function). My stereo is older, so there is no optical line in or out.
    2) Whats the best way to capture streaming audio ? Ive downloaded trial versions of sound studio, audio hijack, and irecord, but havent had any luck. Is there some special type of hardware configuration I need to do? The sources I am streaming from are dead.net and archive.org
    Thanks

The optical sould out is far far better than the headphone out. My sound system is old but I use the MD player as an analogue /digital converter. If you dont have an MD player with this option you need to find an analogue /digital converter. There are loads on the market. You will hear the difference.
For recording streamed sounds I use Audio Highjack. The most important thing you need to do is create a source for each program you want to record from. I record the BBC so I created a source in Highjack (left window in the record prefs) for Safari. If I want to record from
the other progs I have to do the same for them.
