Streaming audio podcast randomly unpauses when paused

Often when I listen to streaming audio podcasts on iTunes, if I have to pause it for any reason, it will unpause itself after a few seconds and resume playing. This can be irritating, because usually when I'm pausing it's because I need to step away, which means the heaphones come off. Then I will return and the podcast is already playing. If I don't mark the time when I pause it, I could lose several minutes.
I have been pausing the stream lately just to watch iTunes's behavior. Sometimes, sure enough, I'll see it automatically resume playback with no accidental button pushing or screen tapping.
Can anyone explain why it does this? It should always remain paused until I unpause it. Every time.

I see a similar problem with music loaded into the iPod software on my iPhone 3G. In this case, when I remove the headphones from the headphone jack (ie. not Bluetooth), the iPod software will suddenly kick in and begin playing the last music I was listening to. Note, this music in the iPod software is paused and still lists as "Now Playing" because there does not appear to be a way to tell the iPod software that you are done listening to that music.
This is a basic flaw with the iPhone software. It seems you cannot tell any software to "Exit" because you are done -- you can only hit the "Home" button and leave the software in background. This can be a plus in some circumstances in that the software will start up again much faster, but it can also be a negative in that the running software is vulnerable to doing unexpected things.

  • OSMF stops streaming audio podcast prematurely when the first chapter ends

Hi, im having problems playing an audio mp3 which has chapters in it, OSMF closes the streaming and dispatched that has completed playing without the possibility to continue playing...
    any ideas on this? thanks!

Why did Apple in their wisdom(??) decide to change this function (it used to work just fine)?
Why would they think that people want to be reverted back to the main menu and not hear the next Podcast??
Do they consider having to try and navigate back while your driving a leap forward?
Why would you turn around and make this hard to use??
And having to make a Smart Playlist is stupid...it makes the Podcast Category on iTunes useless and redundant.
I had the opinion that Apple was better than Micro$oft, that's why I made the leap but now I don't know...
99% of users want the function (to play Podcasts automatically and last episode first) back....what are they basing their decisions on certainly not us the users.
Does Apple EVER respond to these forums???

  • Streaming audio begins at beginning when previewed in timeline

I have audio inserted along the main timeline of my Flash movie. It is set to stream. When I try to preview the timeline to match the narration with events along the timeline, no matter where I am on the timeline, the audio starts at the beginning. Makes timing incredibly difficult.
Is there a fix for this, or is it a bug in the Flash Pro CC that will cause me to continue to work in Flash 5.5?
    Thanks.

Ah I understand. Well here's what I managed to HUNT down
This issue was posted on this very forum on April 15th which can be found HERE.
If you look at reply #3 you can see that member has the same computer I had (HP desktop with beats audio).
I remember trying what he suggested and it actually worked...for a small while.
When the issue came back, I continually tried to enable/disable the Beats audio in hopes of fixing the issue.
Sometimes it would work immediately. Other times it wouldn't work at all.
The member in post #3 is probably right in that this may be related to the audio driver on some computers.
Now, I just got a Dell XPS8700 and I haven't gotten the issue yet.
Of course I've only been using it for a day or so but so far so good.
The HP desktop I was using is going to my friend.
He will be using it to work on our show so essentially he'll have to deal with the headache lol.
What bothers me the most is that I get these Flash CC updates pretty often and each time I think it's fixed, it's not.
To add insult to injury when you get a Flash CC update through Adobe CC you'll see a link below the update that you would THINK would show you the changes that were made but it doesn't...it just goes to the default Flash CC webpage...sigh.
I personally think it's down right hilarious that so many paying customers could have an issue like this and Adobe just sits back and counts their money.
Guess our cries for help are being drowned out by the money counting machines...

  • Is there a way to auto shut-off when I listen to streaming audio?

I like to listen to streaming audio podcasts. At night, I would like them to automatically turn off after a period of time, for example: 1 hour; 1/2 hr; 15 min; etc. Is there a way to do that?

If you are using the Podcast app tap the little clock icon at the top while the podcast is playing.

  • AIR for Android: Streaming audio data won't stop unless I quit....

I write an application (AIR-Android with Flash Builder) which can play internet radio stations (streamed audio in mp3).
When I want to stop the stream like myChannel.stop() / mySound.close(); the sound is stopping but the stream is still loading (I can see it with a network monitor app).
Streaming audio data won't stop unless I quit the application or I switch my connection from WIFI to 3G or from 3G to WIFI.
I do not have this problem with Air for Mac and IOS.
How can I solve this problem ?

    Hi Chris,
I received a response from a certain Wang Zhe (from Adobe) about this bug.
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3070987
It should provide an example of his test that apparently it worked but I have still no answer from him.
Is it possible to contact him directly?

  • Streaming iOS Podcast audio to Apple TV

When streaming audio from the iOS Podcast app to Apple TV, I lose the ability to adjust the volume of the playback on my (6.0) iPhone 4. This only happens with the Podcast app. I can stream audio from Downcast, Safari, and the Music app to Apple TV and adjust the playback volume on my iPhone.
I also have an Airport Express. The iOS Podcast app, along with all the other apps mentioned above, work as it should with Airport Express.
iOS Podcast seems to have a problem with Apple TV.

I seem to recall reading, somewhere, that video streaming is limited currently to the Videos app; iirc, they're still working through rights and other issues with other potential users.
Don't have ATV and am currently feeding our tv using component AV cables, so don't pay a lot of attention to these issues.
Out of curiosity, though, why would you pick this forum instead of the AirPlay one to be looking around and posting in?

  • Unwanted synchronization when streaming audio&video

    hi,
i'm streaming audio and video, both of which are created with separate Processors. i'm playing them back on the client's side with separate players on separate ports. despite all this, when i pause the audio, the video pauses too!
    any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance :O)

This is suposed to happen if the streams received have the same CName. I guess if you are able to send two different streams with 2 different CNames they won't synchronize. But I still don't know how to do that... :)
Also, less useful but still a fact, if you receive the streams in two different VM's that won't happen either... :)

  • Pause Streaming Audio

I'm trying to pause streaming audio with a "pause" button.
However, when I click the "play" button, the audio begins a few
    seconds after where it stopped.
My theory is that the "pause" button isn't recording where
the audio stopped playing; it's actually recording where the audio
stopped loading. So if ten seconds of audio has played, but twenty
seconds of audio has loaded, the "pause" button will record the
pause position as twenty seconds, and the play button will start
    the audio at twenty seconds.
Does that sound like a reasonable theory? Does anyone know
    how this might be fixed?
    Here's my code:

Looks like my theory was wrong! When I hit the "pause"
button, it records a number that corresponds to a point in the
audio stream, but that number does not correspond to the point at
which the audio stream was paused -- it's somewhere between two to
five seconds later. I have no explanation as to why this is!
So I guess my revised question is: has *anyone* been able to
get the "pause" and "play" buttons to work properly with
*streaming* audio? I've come across some comments that suggest that
it might not be possible, but I've never seen it explicitly stated
    that it's not possible.
In other words: should I give up?

  • I want to be able to use airplay to stream audio to another iOS device, and then use that audio stream to be used when recording video instead of the built in microphone / microphone input. Is this possible?

I want to be able to use airplay to stream audio to another iOS device, and then use that audio stream to be used when recording video instead of the built in microphone / microphone input. Is this possible?

A third-party app probably cannot obtain a stream from another app. To the best of my knowledge, such a capability is not provided in the software development kit, apps being "sandboxed" from each other and so allowed to communicate only in very specific and limited ways.
I'm not completely sure what you mean by "limitations on video capture". An iPhone, to the best of my knowledge, can natively record video only through it's built-in camera, and audio while doing video recording only through the built-in microphone or mic/headphone jack. There might be a video recording app that would allow audio input from an external device connected to the dock connector, but I'm not sure.

  • Streaming audio from my IPAD to my Apple TV from Rhapsody application.  when Apple TV go into Screen Saver mode, about 5 minutes after that it stops playing the Audio Stream and goes into Sleep mode.

I am Streaming audio from my IPAD to my Apple TV from Rhapsody application.  when Apple TV go into Screen Saver mode, about 5 minutes after that it stops playing the Audio Stream and goes into Sleep mode.  I am using the Optical Out from the Apple TV to my receiver, the Apple TV is hard Wired to the Network, the IPAD is Wirelessly attached to the network (it continues to play the Audio Stream).  When the Apple TV is turned back on it resumes playing once I manual select it for output from the IPAD.  All device are on current releases of software.  I have no Video hooked up to the Apple TV.  How do I correct this?

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • Streaming audio file over the network w JMF. How to know when the file end

    Hi
I am streaming audio file over the network using JMF. I want to be able to know when a file end so I can close the streaming session.
    Can some one please help
    Thanks

If you put a ControllerListener on the Processor that's associated with generating the RTP stream, it'll generate an "EndOfMedia" event when the end of the file is reached.

  • Iphone 5 will not stream audio when screen goes black?

When I try to stream audio from a website and my screen shuts off, then the audio quits.

    Hello joshstull
If the audio stops playing when the screen turns off, Try opening up Control Center from the lock screen and tap play to start it again. Once possible explanation is that audio may be a movie and when the screen turns off, so does the movie.

I upload a podcast each week using Podcast Maker. When I search the iTunes Store to determine if the most recent one is listed all the podcasts are in random order. This week's is #14; last week's is #1. Any ideas how to correct this? The odd thing is that when you try to subscribe to the podcasts, they are listed in the proper order.

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • Bug: OS 4.5 Media Player does not allow BB screen to shut off when playing streaming audio

I updated my Verizon Pearl 8130 to OS 4.5.  Now, when streaming audio from a station such as "Groove Salad" at http://www.somafm.com, the screen does not shut off but stays on indefinitely, wasting precious battery power.  OS 4.3 Media Player did allow the screen to turn off when streaming audio.

I have a similar issue since upgrading to to 4.5 with my vzw 8130.   with 4.3 I was able to stream audio and then have it run in the background to read messages or address book for example all the while the audio was still playing.   Now once I get the audio streaming and back out to the main menu the media player quits.

  • Bug: OS 4.5 Media Player sometimes aborts when initiating streaming audio

I loaded OS 4.5 on my Verizon 8130.  When attempting to initiate streaming of the Groove Salad 64 kb station at http://www.somafm.com sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  I have had these various results when it did not work:
    BB rebooted
Received a java language null pointer exception
Received a java error message that indicated an array index was out of range
RIM can you please fix this?  Thanks,
