Streaming FX on Demand

You can watch FX on demand on your tv, but not on the computer or other streaming devices.  I don't understand the difference as there is very little availble to stream on your computer, phone, ipad, etc.  The service is somewhat pointless.  What up Verizon?

Both Chrome and Safari interrupt online streaming to request/demand an update for a PC program that doesn't work on Macs. What is going on?

The update alerts are fake, and are intended to dupe you into installing malware or disclosing private information so that your identity can be stolen.
You might get the alerts when visiting a website that has been hacked. Don't visit the site again. If applicable, notify the site administrator of the problem, but don't send email to an unknown party.
If you get the alerts when visiting more than one well-known website, such as Google, YouTube, or Facebook, then they're almost certainly the result of an attack on your router that has caused you to get false results from looking up the addresses of Internet servers. Requests sent to those sites are redirected to a server controlled by the attacker. It's possible, but less likely, that the DNS server used by your ISP has been attacked, but you should assume that the router is at fault until proven otherwise.
The router's documentation should tell you how to reset it to the factory default state. Usually there's a pinhole switch somewhere in the back. It may be labeled "RESET." Insert the end of a straightened paper clip or a similar tool and press the button inside for perhaps 15 seconds, or as long as the instructions specify.
After resetting the router, quit the web browser and relaunch it while holding down the shift key. From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Do the equivalent if you use another browser. Open the Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
Then go through the router's initial setup procedure. I can't be specific, because it's different for every model. The key points are these:
    1. Don't allow the router to be administered from the WAN (Internet) port, if it has that option. Most do.
    2. Set a strong password to protect the router's settings: at least ten random upper- and lower-case letters and digits. Don't use the default password or any other that could be guessed. Save the password in your keychain. Any password that you can remember is weak.
    3. If the router is wireless, or if you have a wireless access point on the network, use "WPA 2 Personal" security and set a different strong password to protect the network. If the router or access point doesn't support WPA 2, it's obsolete and must be replaced.
During the time the router was compromised, you were redirected to bogus websites. If you ever connected to a secure site and got a warning from your browser that the identity of the server could not be verified, and you dismissed that warning in order to log in, assume that your credentials for the site have been stolen and that the attacker has control of the account. This warning also applies to all websites on which you saw the fake update alerts.
Check the router manufacturer's website for a firmware update.
If you downloaded and installed what you thought was a software update, ask for instructions.

  • Unable to Stream Video on Demand files from NAS on latest version of AMS 5.0.3

    Hi,
I was hoping that someone could assist me.
Our organisation has recently purchased Adobe Media Server Standard to deploy to two Windows 2008 R2 servers (core edition) to stream flash content (video on demand only) which is resident on NAS storage.
I have considerable difficultly in streaming content from NAS and from the literature I have read and the configuration I have done it should be possible.
The steps I have taken to attempt to get this to work are as follows:
    Installation
    - Installed AMS 5.0.1 on both servers using the default TCP ports and Apache was not installed as part of the install
    - Both AMS instances upgraded to the latest release AMS 5.0.3
    - Windows Firewall on the servers disabled (we use hardware firewalls) and TCP connectivity verified by using telnet to connect these servers on 1935 and 80
    Initial Configuration
    - As we only will be using video on demand I removed the live, livepkgr and multicast applications from the /applications folder. Vod is the only application remaining
    - Using the videoplayer in the /samples/videoplayer we were successfully able to view the sample streams
    Configuration to stream from NAS
    - I modified the VOD_DIR in the ams.ini file in the /conf folder to reflect the NAS location (\\{nas FQDN\sharename}
    - Our NAS share has NTFS permissions applied and our AMS servers are joined to Active Directory. I created an AD account that had membership of the group that had read rights to the NAS share.
    - I then reconfigured the AMS windows service to Log on with the AD account (as per the install guide: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/adobemediaserver/configadmin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f2925 e64-7fc7.2.3.html)
    Issues Experienced
    - Whenever I change the AMS windows service to use an AD user (and not the Local System account), the service will run for only a short time (time often varies) before the service stops. In the application event log the AMS (Core) component
logs the error "Failed to create process mutex".
    - The issue experienced is similar to a previous post by an FMS 3.5 user (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650522)
    Troubleshooting:
    - To rule out a permission issue, I confirmed that the AD user created could actually read from the NAS share
    - I also gave the AD user read/write permission to the AMS install directory. I have also added the AD user to the local admin group. Still get the "Failed to create process mutex" error and service stops.
    - We created a test share on the NAS that had no restrictions set (everyone full control) and reconfigured the ams.ini to use this. The service still stops.
    - I reconfigured the ams.ini back to the default path (local storage) and attempted to start the AMS windows service with the AD account. The service still stops which seems to confirm the issue is not related to the NAS storage/permissions itself
    - I gave the servers machine account from AD read/write access to the NAS shares (both test and live shares) and reconfigured the AMS windows service to use the local system account. Whilst the windows service remains stable and runs,
      streams do not work
    - I have been testing using rtmpdump and a player (http://osmf.org/configurator/fmp/):
       - With the player the player connects and the stream remains in a "buffering state"
       - With rtmpdump we get the "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound" error. The stream definately exists. I have the rtmpdump log file but not sure how to upload it to this post
    - The above issues/behaviour is experienced from both servers
    Workaround:
    - The only way I can get NAS streaming to work is to map the NAS share as a network drive from the server
    - On the same server I then stopped the AMS windows service and started AMS as a console application (ams.ini is pointing to the NAS location)
    - Streaming then works however this is not an exceptable workaround for a enterprise server that will be streaming content to the Internet. Having to rely on mapped network drives and console applications is certainly far from ideal.
Should it be possible to have the windows service run under the context of another account and to be able to stream without then having to have a mapped network drive?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Jason
UPDATE: to add further, I have just tested this on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard edition with the full UI and I get the exact behaviour/problems as documented above. The issue I am experiencing is not related to the fact I am using the core edition of Windows.

    HI,
I have managed to address my issue and get this working!
When reconfiguring the AMS service to use the AD account you MUST also reconfigure the Adobe Media Administration Server to use the AD account.
This mismatch in accounts was causing the mutex issue and stopping the AMS account from running. Read access to the NAS and log on as a service right on the AMS server
was all that required for the stream from NAS to work.
If any Adobe staff read this thread - can I please request that the section on "Mapping Directories to Network Drives" in the "Configuring the Content Storage" section of the help guide (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/adobemediaserver/configadmin/adobemediaserver_5.0.3_config_adm in.pdf) be revised to be clearer as to what windows services need to be reconfigured
    to support AD authentication
    Thanks
    Jason

  • Afl not streaming live to TV using my Apple TV

I can no longer get the live streaming of video to my TV using Apple TV. I can get the audio only or the video by turning on mirroring. It used to play ok last season. I can stream sbs on demand or abc I view without any problems at all. Have checked all my settings on my iPad which match correctly with Apple TV AirPlay settings. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

http://www.afl.com.au/livepass/faqCan I output the live stream from the AFL Live Official to my TV via a TV dongle/smart stick or direct cable connection (eg: HDMI)?Under our digital rights agreement with the Australian Football League, broadcasts are restricted to the screen devices upon which they are sold (ie: iOS, Android and Windows 8 smartphones and iOS and Android tablets) and current screen size. ----- The issue you may face is that the app last year had a bug which allowed AirPlay when it was never meant to do so. So the current app correctly blocks it.

  • Will iCloud stream my music to my AppleTV2?

I'm really excited about iCloud, iMatch, etc. One of the things I'm trying to get straight about the service is whether it's truly streaming my content or is it only syncing content between devices. As in, will iCloud dump all my mp3s to the hard drive of each device or will it stream them on demand?
Specifically, I am hoping it is a streaming service because I want to play my music on my Apple TV 2 without having any other computers on in the house. I also want to be able to use my iPhone without interruption (Airplay gets cut when a call comes in). It would be great if my AppleTV would be a standalone receiving unit for streaming audio content from my iCloud library.
Anyone have the details on this? I've searched the Apple Discussions, but too much noise about other iCloud issues.
    Seth

There aren't enough details about the iCloud service to answer your questions at this time.

  • Multiple Forecast Streams in Demantra

    Hey,
I've noticed release note for 7.2 includes the following enhancement:
"You may want to create statistical forecasts from multiple demand streams.
You can generate a forecast from any data stream, for example, booking history and shipment history. Each data stream has a unique engine profile and version."
I haven't been able to find much documentation about this option.
Has anyone implemented a solution using that ? Know any HOW-TO documents available?
I'm thinking of using it for forecasting - item sales, and item returns from customers.
How should SALES_DATA be loaded for that scenario? How should engine be run?
    Thanks alot for any reply,
    Aaron

    Hi All,
Forecasting with multiple demand stream means that you can generate multiple forecasts based on different demand stream. By demand stream, i mean the historical data stream on which you want to generate the forecast.
There can be situations where you may require to generate forecast for different purpose.Like Aaron mentioned, you may want to generate a forecast based on the order/booking history and/or you may want to generate a forecast based on the returns history. For this purpose you need to create different engine profiles.Engine profile is nothing but a set of engine parameters with specific values. Oracle Demantra provides some predefined profiles for different purposes, and you can define additional engine profiles, as needed. When you run the Analytical Engine, you specify the engine profile to use.
Now coming to the HOW-TO part:
    1) The quantity_form (system parameter) contains an expression that is used by the engine to retrieve and aggregate demand stream data from the SALES_DATA table. Make sure that the quantity_form expression for a specific engine profile points to database columns containing the historical demand stream desired for the profile. Meaning, if you want to generate a forecast based on booking history then the quantity_form should point to the booking history stream in the sales_data table. Likewise for returns history, point the quantity_form to returns history stream in sales_data table.
    2) Create a series to view the forecast generated by the engine profile.
    3) The newly created engine profiles gets added to the list of engine profiles in the system parameters. You can select the required engine profile and generate the forecast.
    4) View, Edit or compare the forecast created in step 4 by creating a worksheet with all the forecast generated.
I hope this brings more clarity to the queries/replies posted earlier.

  • CDN integration with Adobe HLS streams

I am trying to work with HLS using FMS4.5. We have live streams and on-demand streams which can be 4 hours long duration and can have 3000-5000 users.
Definitely, i don't want all the users fetch the segment(.ts) files from my FMS. and increase load on the server.
What is the best practice to handle such a situation? Can CDNs help in this case? If yes, how?

    Hey Mike,
Yes you are right in saying that for the HDS/HLS use case, a lesser powerful FMS instance would do, unless you plan to serve RTMP content since it is Apache and not FMS which is serving content in case of HDS, HLS.
Yes the connection limit is only for RTMFP, the p2p protocol. All FMS instances enjoy no other restrictions.
As per the reserved instances question, currently the pricing model only supports the per hour costing.
    Thanks!

  • Perfect connection - terrible streaming

I have very limited networking knowledge, but to me this issue seems a little strange.
I have a 50/10 internet connection, and the following network setup:
Modem (---ethernet-->) Time Capsule 2TB (4th gen.) (---ethernet--->) Airport Express (2nd gen., brand new)
AE set to bridge mode, same ssid/password on TC and AE, all settings set to auto. Dedicated ssid for the 5GHz band. I have also connected a 1st gen. AE to extend the wifi (extends the TC but connects to the AE wirelessly), but this is only for audio airplay.
I recently added the new AE to the network, due to poor wifi performance in the living room. I had some streaming issues now and then before the AE, but after adding the AE streaming is terrible. Netflix starts in full HD, then stops after a couple of seconds and then becomes very pixelated. This happens both on the ATV3 (wirelessly conntected to the AE, stationed one inch beside it), on my Macbook pro, ipod and iphone. Tried both 5GHz and 2.4. Tried connecting directly (ethernet) to the TC, same problem. I have also tried a Norwegian streaming service (NRK, very reliable service that I have had no problems with earlier), this doesn't work at all. So problems with Netflix' servers should not be the case.
Wifi connection on my iOS-devices drops out frequently.
The strange thing is that when measuring the network performance (from the Macbook), everything seems ok. Speedtest.net: 50 up, 10 down. Pingtest.net: ~40ms ping, no packet loss, ~4ms jitter. Grade A.
If there are networking issues that causes bad streaming performance, shouldn't I get bad results on the tests aswell?

If there are networking issues that causes bad streaming performance, shouldn't I get bad results on the tests aswell?
Not necessarily. Speed tests such as you describe are useful to determine or verify your ISP's bandwidth promises, but are less useful to diagnose local wireless conditions. Video streaming is very demanding of both, and will be limited to the weakest link in the communications chain. The weak link is very likely to be your local wireless environment, which has become very crowded for everyone in populated areas. Adding additional wireless access points can do little to improve upon that phenomenon, and in fact only make it worse since everyone else is doing the same thing. That appears to be the situation you described. It's like trying to speak with someone in a crowded bar. Everyone raises their voices until no one can hear anything over the din.
Speed tests run for only a few seconds, but Netflix requires a sustained bandwidth of (very approximately) 7 Mbps for HD streaming, continuously, considering all limiting factors including local wireless environmental conditions. That continuous throughput cannot be reduced for long before Netflix will throttle the video stream. Periodic buffering is less tolerable to their customers than a prolonged reduction in image quality.
Tried connecting directly (ethernet) to the TC, same problem.
I can only surmise that the device used for streaming is still using wireless despite having connected them directly to your router. Turn off or disable Wi-Fi to isolate the cause. Simplify your network design with the goal toward reliable Netflix streaming, using Ethernet exclusively, then add additional access points if necessary for portable devices that actually require a wireless connection. The AppleTV, desktops, anything that doesn't have to move around all the time should be using wired Ethernet whenever feasible.

  • HD Channels freeze after 5 minutes

Since the launch of BT sport my HD channels including new BT sport freeze after about 5 minutes.  Help suggests I restart Home Hub and BT vision box. This gets the system going for the next 5 minutes.  Note this is the behaviour whether accessing BT sport or BBC1 HD.  I can actually get the channel to unfreeze by simply changing channels so its not really necessary to reboot all the boxes.  Unfortunately this approach does not work when trying to record your favourite football team.
Other details: BT Vision box is connected to Home Hub by powerline adaptors and I often get a message with error VMC999 complaining of a slow connection.
What is particularly irritating is that I have a new Samsung smart TV which displays all HD channels perfectly (via Freeview) and seamlessly streams HD on demand content by connecting wirelessly to the BT router.
I have made two attempts this week to contact BT (0800...) but abandonned them as there are'nt enough hours in the day.
So what I propose do is to "enjoy" my "free" BT sport channels (I have infinity account), cancel my BT Vision subscription (if BT ever pick up the phone) and subscribe to Netflix, Blinkbox, etc.
If anyone has any practical or technical suggestions please comment.

Did you manage to try using an ethernet cable rather than the power line adapters (PLA's)? Did this solve the problem? As others mentioned the PLA's are probably causing the VMC999 error. You need a reliable connection to the Vision+ box for the multicast channels to work smoothly. Being live channels they have to work in a slightly different way to on-demand content.
If after trying a cable you still get the multicast channels freezing after approx 5 mins every time you try to view/record them then you are not the only one. In that case I suggest you read this thread I created a while back. I got it fixed for my line, but it still seems to be affecting some customers now. Get your stopwatch out!

  • Problem in accessing the media files from another server

Currently I am working in a project with streaming video on demand and using FMS 4.5.
Let’s say the FMS is installed on one machine say ‘121.123.35.34’ and there is another server ‘100.54.88.222’ where all the media files belong. Now we need to point to this third server to play videos from FMS.I have done the below changes:
    In the fms.ini file: set the VOD_DIR2 = \\100.54.88.222\myvideos
In the application.xml: Added the stream: <Streams>/hr;${VOD_DIR2}</Streams>
From my application accessing the path of flv as:source= “rtmp:// 121.123.35.34:1935/vod/hr/test” . Not able to access the video.
Note: If I will point to say ‘C:hrvideos’ in VOD_DIR2, then I am able to access the videos using the same URL.
I also tried mapping the shared path to the FMS machine and then given the mapped drive path in the VOD_DIR2, but this also doesn’t work.
    Please let me know:
If we need to configure any other parameter to stream videos from another server.
VOD_COMMON_DIR: I modified this similar TO VOD_DIR to location 'C:hrvideos', I am able to stream the videos using rtmp, but not abl eto stream with http.
Please let me know  can we stream using http also as we need this to run f4m manifest file.
              http://121.123.35.34:8134/vod/hr/sample.mp4.
              http://121.123.35.34:8134/vod/hr/sample.f4m
    Thanks,
    Anjali

    Hi Shiven,
I followed the steps suggested by you:
    1) Changed the stream:
    <Streams>/hr;${VOD_DIR2}</Streams> to<Streams>/;${VOD_DIR2}</Streams>
But not able to access the video with rtmp:// 121.123.35.34:1935/vod/test
    2) For http streaming, changes the HttpStreamingContentPath in hds-vod in the httpd config file, and tried to stream the video like:
    http:// 121.123.35.34:8134/vod/test.mp4 or
    http:// 121.123.35.34:8134/hds-vod/test.mp4
But not able to load the video.
    Please suggest?

  • Firewire device looses connection when external screen is inserted into the thunderbolt port? HELP

    HI
I am a recording studio engineer. Ive got a Firewire AD/DA Converter (Focusrite Saffire Pro 56) running from my Firewire port of my MacBook Pro, which is running OSX Mavericks. I've also got an external Screen I want to use as an extended display. I'm using a HDMI cable from the screen to a HDMI to Thunderbolt Converter which I then plug into my Thurderbolt Port.
As soon as I plug the screen in, the Firewire Port looses connection completely and I cant use or even choose the Saffire Pro 56 as audio driver. Another thing happens where the Thunderbolt port replaces the Saffire Pro 56 Driver with the screen as the audio output source.
Please help, there's nothing I can find to fix this.
    Thanks Maurice

You don't mention which model you have, but this is from the M-Audio Firewire 410 Manual Troubleshooting section:
The FireWire 410 has been designed to give you high performance and professional quality audio. It has been tested under a wide range
of systems and operating conditions. In the real world, however, there is a nearly infinite number of possible operating scenarios, any of
which could affect your system’s performance. Much like owning an automobile, “your mileage may vary.” This section can not begin to
cover all possible issues you may encounter, however we want to give you some suggestions on common problems you may experience.
One thing to avoid is connecting too many devices. The FireWire bus is a dependable, high-speed, high-bandwidth protocol which is ideally
suited for digital audio. Nonetheless, it’s important to remember that audio and multimedia streaming places considerable demands on
your processor and the FireWire bus. Although it is theoretically possible to chain many multiple FireWire devices in series, doing so may
    potentially degrade your audio performance.
I guess this degradation could also affect the Firewire HD. Maybe there is a simple fix, but it sounds like the M-Audio people have been down this road before.

  • Mac and Windows with dual monitors Question

I use a Intel MacPro running Tiger with latest updates in my church. We use the Mac and Keynote 2.0.2 to present PowerPoint slides on the big screen (dual outputs). Everything was going well until the pastors upgraded to new computers running Vista and Office 2007. Now neither pastor's files will load into Keynote. It comes up with an error. The pastors have saved their files from PP as 2003 PPT files, and they still will not open. Error - unable to open file type. The one pastor went back to XP (dumped Vista) but still used the Office 2007 program and saved as PP2003, but the error still appears.
FYI - I noticed that Office 2007 saves with a file with the extension of .pptx instead of the .ppt. Checking the file they gave me shows that it is indead a .ppt file and not .pptx file. It makes no difference.
I believe it is an Office 2007 problem I'm dealing with. I have taken the .ppt file and loaded it onto the PC running PP 2003 and it loads fine, except for some format problems. I then resave it with a different name and tried to load that file (hoping it was converted) , with the same error showing. The problem is transfered with the file. Other files created with the PP 2003 program load fine into Keynote, so it has to be the Office2007 doing something.
So the questions are, is there an easy fix and still use the Keynote program, OR does Keynote 3 take care of this problem in the upgrade, OR should I install Win XP home or Pro and use parallels (which I have)? Would WinXP Home be enough to support the dual outputs and be fast enough? I am familiar with XP Pro not Home.
Any information you may have, could be a help. I need this resolved soon. I hate having to bring in the old Windows PC, after enjoying the quality of the Mac.

Thanks David - glad to here the Mini supports dual monitors, and you're not having any streaming issues. Did you have any special settings, like "no hardware acceleration"? Are you streaming HD content?
If it supports dual monitors, then I would think the iPad could be used as a second display and input device - the demos I've seen with Air Display (from Avatron Software") would accomplish what I'm looking for. Here is a demo at http://www.vimeo.com/16950420 showing the iPad working with a Windows machine, but I've seen them working with Macs as well.

  • Custom Installation Advice

    Greetings-
This question is directed at you monitor gurus and masters of custom installations, creative multimedia installation guys, and anyone with a darn good idea!
Here is the setup: I have a Sharp Aquos 32" LCD TV that I am using as the monitor for my media center. For now I am feeding the HD input from my current video rig that is rack-mounted on the other side of the room. However, I recently purchased a wireless refurb'd Mini for use as a, well, computer. It drives the LCD display via DVI, and only needs a slight Horizontal positioning tweak via the monitor controls.
The monitor is wall-mounted, and initially I thought that I might be able to mount the Mini out of sight and on the wall behind the display. While it turns out that this is technically possible, it would not allow for any adjustment at all in the viewing angle of the display, and changing the horizontal mounting height on the wall is not an option (well, it actually is, but it took some work to do it initially and I am trying to "work smart" here.
However, after receiving my Mini and having had time to grow accustomed to the look of it, I have decided that I will mount the computer on a small glass or other shelf just under the display but on the wall and in full view. It is a work of art, after all, and looks spiffy to boot.
So now to my dilemma: anybody done this? I need a suggestion on an attractive wall mounted support, mini-sized and weight support capable. I am going to mount the power brick out of view so supporting that weight is not important. I do have the ability to hit one stud within the wall with whatever attachment hardware need be, but it is 16 inches on center to the next stud and that would be wider that the mini. Ideally I mount to one stud and do not have to use any mounts within the wallboard to either side of the stud.
So ideally, in my mind's eye, I need a sturdy, centrally supported attractive shelf on which to support my Mini.
What have you creative people got for me?
    Thanks in advance-
    peace

C2R was the name given to the new packaging method, introduced in the  Office2010 timeframe.
C2R uses Application Virtualisation (App-V) and some other components, to "install" and virtualise the file system and registry components of Office. With Office2010 in this format, Office365 was released.
C2R / App-V, has a number of advantages, especially related to streaming and on-demand scenarios, but it requires periodic internet access, and a decent internet connection.
Later, Office2013 was released in a similar, but "improved" fashion - also known as Office365.
One of the significant differences with Office365, is the subscription-based licensing model, and the subscription management components (which require you to login to a Microsoft account to validate and re-validate) are embedded.
Retail editions of Office2013 (Home & Business, Home & Student, Professional) are also released in C2R format.
(Some Retail, non-subscription editions of Office2010 could be obtained in traditional MSI format.)
Currently, non-subscription editions of Office2013, in MSI format, are only available to Volume Licensing customers.
These are specific editions (e.g. Office2013 Standard, and Office 2013 ProfessionalPlus/ProPlus), and are not available in Retail editions.
So, non-C2R is available, to Volume License customers. Which is fine if you are one, and not so great if you aren't one.

  • Hi all ,anyone knows some usefual Codecs for H.264 live video/audio

I'm headache about the JMF codecs ,they are too few ,and seems inefficiency, anyone knows pure java codecs for H.264 or MPEG4 ?And I think it's better a open source one ,do my thanks , guys!

    Here are some basics....
FMLE creates RTMP protocol streams that PCs and Macs watch with Flash players.   iOS devices don't understand RTMP (Flash), only HLS delivery of 10 second chuncks of downloaded video playback.  Both systems understand H.264 video, but iOS wants to see AAC audio not MP3.
You didn't state how you are live streaming, meaning what bandwidth delivery service you are using.  Live streaming only via RTMP won't get you to successful iPad and iPhone HTTP Live Stream.  On-demand delivery to iOS devices normally requires .mp4 video files to be hosted, which Macs and PCs also understand via RTMP delivery.   But unless your delivery service can convert .f4v or .flv files to .mp4 on the fly there is no easy way to to get to iOS via the direct file output of FMLE as of today.   Sometimes we upload live encoded project files to our www.Wistia.com account for PC, Mac and iOS delivery.  This is a YouTube / Vimeo paid type hosting service for on-demand only.
Some commercial CDNs (Content Delivery Networks) today allow an inbound live RTMP into their system using FMLE.  Then they re-mux that RTMP stream into HLS delivery for iOS.  Some work well using the native MP3 audio codec (Internap), but most require FMLE to have the AAC audio codec installed from Main Concept for $200.  Or people use Wirecast from Telestream which is $500 per license to be able to run two instances on that one license.
In my 15 years of being a big commercial webcaster here in Silcion Valley, I have yet to find the perfect simple and easy and affordable RTMP to HLS live and on-demand delivery system.  We currently do it different ways with multiple providers depending on the job.  More offerings are coming out now and we try them all as they come down the pike.

  • Problem with my fans

    Hi,
Everytime I watch a video on the internet ( or any type of "pushed" activity ), my fans make a lot of noise. I play a lot, so maybe it screwed up something ... help!

awerty: As I've just written to CT, cooler is better. Watching streaming video is demanding enough to generate significant heat. But if you want to make sure your fans are really working as they're designed to do, reset your MBP's System Management Controller:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
That will restore the default fan settings. If your fans continue to run as they've been running, all is well and you have nothing to worry about. If their behavior changes after the SMC reset, then the fan control settings were incorrect before, and have been corrected.
