Streaming iPhone music wirelessly to home stereo?

I would love to be able to sit on my back deck and use my iPhone to play and control playing my playlists to my stereo inside the house to listen on my outdoor speakers. I have iPhone, I am installing Airport Extreme tonight, (currently have a Linksys wireless network) and my desktop PC is close enough to my stereo to run cables if need be. I basically want to use the iPhone as a remote control for the music. What do I need to make this a reality? Thanks

dont think it is possible to do

I'm trying to figure out how to send streaming video to my stereo in the living room from my bedroom.
I have a G5 Mac running OSX 10.6.2, connected to an Airport Extreme.
What do I need to send streaming audio (preferably Pandora music) from the iMac to my stereo in my living room as far as software and hardware?

  • Streaming iTunes music via AppleTV to stereo

This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to answer it:
I've just received an AppleTV device as a gift. I understand it's stated use, to stream content to a TV.
However, I'd like to stream music from my iTunes library on my office computer to the stereo receiver in the living room. Can AppleTV do this? How would the configuration work? I tried this with an Airport, but was told (at a genius bar) it wouldn't work since I connect wirelessly to the internet.
    Thanks.

You would need a TV to set up wireless network info, accept any updates, add your iTunes store account details so that you can set up Home Sharing with your computers copy of iTunes and change settings to your liking. Once it's all set up you could if need do away with the TV.
I've seen forum posts on using digital to analogue converters but I've no experience myself - might be worth posting a new question for that specific question.
    Hope that's helpful.

  • Cannot stream iPhone music to Apple TV2

I have an Apple TV2 and I cannot stream music to it from my iPhone 3GS via the iPod app. The ATV icon appears in the iPod app but nothing streams. The music plays again when reselecting the iPhone audio output. Movies from the iPod app work fine however with good video and audio streaming when streamed to ATV.
The ATV works fine with all other functions from my laptop and MacMini.

    Fixed it!!
Just unplugged the ATV2 and rebooted it.

  • How play music wirelessly at home?

I'm often mixing something in Logic Pro X on my MacBook Pro that I'll want my wife to hear a quick take of.  I have a Bose receiver/subwoofer/speaker system in our living room.  Is is possible somehow to stream audio from my Mac via our home Wi-Fi and into my Bose receiver somehow?
If I have to first bounce my mix to iTunes and then sync to my iPhone, I can I guess.. but that's more hoops to jump through to say, "hey.. listen to this mix".
    Thanks.

You could hook up an Airport Express to the Bose system:

The alternative is to do what I do: just turn it up really loud.

  • Listen to music through home stereo on iPad?

How do you stream your music to your home stereo thru your iPad similar to iTunes on your Mac desktop? They allude to this being possible at the very end of the guided tour to iPod on the iPad

I am trying to do the very same thing, glad to hear others are struggling!
I stream Pandora through my home AV system through my PS3 browser. The problem is, to change the station, I need to turn on the TV, boot up a controller, etc. Instead, I want to connect via iPad Bluetooth to my home AV system and change tunes at will.
I was able to pair the iPad to PS3 as shown on numerous YouTube videos to pair iPhone to PS3. The problem is that the audio doesn't pass through, even though it is linked. On the iPad Bluetooth settings, it shows paired, but the Device part shows the searching wagon wheel......... and doesn't allow me to pick headphones versus keyboard.
So, how do I force the iPad to output to the Bluetooth connection? I update PS3 software with no success... Help Techies!
An alternative would be to purchase a Bluetooth receiver / transceiver and try again, but since it didn't work with PS3, would their be any hope in it working on a dedicated receiver?

  • Streaming iTunes music to home stereo

Hi! I'm trying to stream my iTunes music to my home stereo receiver; doesn't have to be wireless, wired is fine. Here's the catch: I'm using NAS and two notebook computers...the iTunes music doesn't live on either notebook, only on the NAS drive. I want to be able to access the music without having to turn on a computer.
Is there a device that I can attach to my stereo receiver and the network that will let me access the music files from the NAS drive? Having a heckuva time with this, any input is most appreciated!

Sorry, I missed the bit about wanting to not use a computer.
    Try this -> http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_overview.html
You still need a server running but you don't use the computer to access it.

  • How can I listen to Music in iTunes on my iMac on my home stereo? system

I have all my music in iTunes on my iMac which is in my den.  I would like to listen to my music wirelessly on my Stereo system in my living room.  I could use an iPod but I have a much broader range of music on my iMac.  Can someone recommend a possible solution.  I have thought about Apple TV, would that work?

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod onto your computer. And here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music to iTunes. Hope it helps.

  • IPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS won't connect wirelessly at home when PCs are off.

    Dear Apple.com,
I have been using iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS wirelessly at home no problems.
I use a MAC filter on an unsecured wireless network. Only entered MAC addresses can connect wirelessly.
However, when I turn off all the PCs at home the iPhone find the wireless network and show connected, but cannot browse websites.
The router Linksys WRT610N is always on, so the wireless connection and permission for the iPhone MAC addresses to access the wireless connection should work?
    Any ideas?

Is your router a model that supports a/b/g/n? If you turn off N will it work? If your N is setup at 40MHz slots it may not work as well. Can you take your wireless router somewhere else for testing? I assume you might have some issue where you are at with your Mac and that router. When you open Apple Menu/About this Mac/More Info../Network/Airport does it show your network there? From a working machine can you see your Mac from your router web interface? FYI if your router was an Apple product(Airport Express or Airport Extreme/Time Capsule) you could see all your wireless clients via the Airport Utility, even signal strength and connection speed...

  • Using iPod Touch remotely while playing back through home stereo.

Hey, I'm not sure if this is possible but I'm interested in knowing if there is a set of accessories I can buy that will allow me to do this:
I want to play music through my home stereo. I want to use the iPod Touch to select which music is played, and I don't want to have to have the Touch plugged into anything.
The music doesn't necessarily need to be played from the Touch, it can be played from my computer instead, the Touch would just need to be able to control and browse my iTunes in this case. Or alternatively the Touch could stream music to some sort of station connected to the stereo.
Is this possible right now or do I need to wait for a new product to allow me to do this.
Lets say price is no concern right now, is there anything out there that would allow me to do this?
    Thanks

there is a web application currently that would allow the touch to remotly control ur itunes on ur computer i have not tried it....but it seems like it would be what u are interest in.....

  • How to stream Nokia Music Mixes via Play To

Just moved from an HTC Mozart to Lumia 800 and love the Nokia exclusive apps.  Really enjoying Nokia Music, and would like to be able to stream this to my home stereo via DLNA.  The Play To app seemed to be perfect, however this can only stream my music collection, and not the Nokia Music mixes...
Anyone have a way to stream the mixes to a home stereo?
    Thanks!

Nokia Music Mix Radio offline mixes are not available outside your Lumia device. Unless you plug it into your stereo using the headphone out obviously..

  • Is it possible to stream entire music library?

I just got my 40GB Apple TV and have not yet been able to stream content from my entire library on my iMac to my ATV. It seems as if the files are locally stored on the ATV with a limit of 40GB. Quite annoying when I have over 200GB of music. I've chosen "Custom Sync" in the settings menu on iTunes.
Before I got my ATV I used my X-Box360 to stream music to my home stereo without the files storing locally on the X-Box.
Maybe I have misunderstood the capabilities of ATV in regrads to streaming playback..?

make sure you don't have the "show only synced content" option ticked.
