Streaming iTunes music via AppleTV to stereo

This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to answer it:
I've just received an AppleTV device as a gift. I understand it's stated use, to stream content to a TV.
However, I'd like to stream music from my iTunes library on my office computer to the stereo receiver in the living room. Can AppleTV do this? How would the configuration work? I tried this with an Airport, but was told (at a genius bar) it wouldn't work since I connect wirelessly to the internet.

You would need a TV to set up wireless network info, accept any updates, add your iTunes store account details so that you can set up Home Sharing with your computers copy of iTunes and change settings to your liking. Once it's all set up you could if need do away with the TV.
I've seen forum posts on using digital to analogue converters but I've no experience myself - might be worth posting a new question for that specific question.

Streaming iTunes music to home stereo

Hi! I'm trying to stream my iTunes music to my home stereo receiver; doesn't have to be wireless, wired is fine. Here's the catch: I'm using NAS and two notebook computers...the iTunes music doesn't live on either notebook, only on the NAS drive. I want to be able to access the music without having to turn on a computer.
Is there a device that I can attach to my stereo receiver and the network that will let me access the music files from the NAS drive? Having a heckuva time with this, any input is most appreciated!

It sounds like you want to setup your Airport Express to Airplay music from your iPhone 5. I found an article with steps to help you get this setup:
Connecting to an existing Wi-Fi network, exclusively for iTunes music
AirPort Express used exclusively for AirPlay by setting it up in Client Mode.
Choose this configuration if the computer containing your iTunes library may be out of direct range of the AirPort Express, but is within range of the Wi-Fi network.
How to Set It Up
Connect your AirPort Express to your home stereo or powered speakers.
From your computer, join the wireless network. Use the AirPort status menu in the menu bar on a Mac. On a Windows-based computer, hold the pointer over the wireless connection icon until you see your AirPort network name (SSID), and choose it from the list if there are multiple networks available. Enter the network password, if necessary.
Open iTunes on your computer and choose the AirPort Express(es) you wish to stream music through from the speakers pop-up menu in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.

Question about streaming itunes music files (AAC Format) to my Sony Bravia TV.

I am streaming iTunes music files tfrom my Laptop to my Sony TV; the files are in AAC format. However a Sony technician said I need to convert them to MP3 for the streaming to work properly.
It seems to work OK without converting them so why should I convert them?
And more importantly, if I convert them to MP3, will iTunes continue to work right? And will iTunes still synch to my Nano and to my iPhone4?

Playing Music via ford bluetooth Stereo, N95.

Hello All, I have an N95 that will automatically accept calls through my car stereo's bluetooth. My bluetooth is always on and connects automatically and the stereo is set to authorised.
Does anybody know how to play the music via the bluetooth? I've searched the forums but with no joy, I've also googled it. I'm fairly sure it is possible (maybe 3rd party software) as my ringtone (MP3) plays and also if I have the music player on and a call comes in, I get a few seconds of music.

The Ford Bluetooth car kit is NOT an A2DP car kit, which means it will not stream music via Bluetooth, although most Fords with Bluetooh have the auxillary input socket in the glove compartment, you can use an 3.5mm jack plug from you phones headphone socket to the Ford auxillary input and play music.

Streaming itunes audio via airport express to TV speakers

Using imac, itunes and airport express.
I am trying to utilize tv audio component to play music as remote speaker using itunes and airport express.
With the tv on and approriate component selected - no sound. If I turn off TV and then back on - I get about 3 seconds of music via airport exp connection then silent.
Any suggestions?

I have connected airex to a sony mfm-ht205 lcd tv/display. I have used the airex monster cables stereo to dual-rca connectors to connect to tv.
The tv has 2 video and 1 component set of jacks. Each of these has audio red/white right/left jacks for audio cords (presumably the dual end of monster cable).
With tv off and airex connected, when I turn tv on I get music from itunes (via airex) on tv speakers for about 3 seconds then nothing.

Using Multiple Apple TVs to stream iTunes Music

I'm considering using multiple(at least 2) Apple TVs to stream iTunes content around my home. The layout is ranch style and I'd like to put 1 in my Media room where I have my main HT set-up and another in the dining area. Will I be able to have these act like Airport Express units and have same music playing on both, if both are on? I'm considering this as I often entertain and am looking for an inexpensive solution to a Crestron or Sonos system and I'd also like to be able to move 1 Apple TV unit to a different location like the Deck in the Summer & just connect my old boombox with RCA inputs.

Thanks for your response and good wishes. I've tried a couple of AE stations with limited success(dropping connection--still have them, any thoughts there? I'd appreciate them) and I would like to have the video option, have over 100 DVD rips stored on my iMac CD's external drive that play through iTunes(converted to H.264), a Netflix sub and we love the Jazz stations on iTunes radio. I use my 1st gen iPod Touch and Apple's Remote app with my iMac for music in my bedroom/office but, we'd like to occasionally also eat & watch a movie together as well have the music, get a 2 for 1-- music for entertaining and movies for the family. So, the original question... you're saying 2 ATVs will play the same music if both are on, in the same way that the Airport Express does?

Streaming iTunes music to PlayStation 3

For some reason, most of my music on my Dell (imported/bought through iTunes store) cannot be played on my PS3 (streamed through WMP11, I know it ***** but Apple won't support PS3 streaming). Why is that? I've already upgraded my whole purchased library to iTunes Plus... I should be able to do with it what I want.

No audio from Itunes Movies via AppleTV

I haven't been able to get any audio from any of the movies I stream from Itunes. Funnily enough, AppleTV works with Netflix and Youtube. The audio works here. Can someone help?

I am just looking for clear, realistic sound reproduction for my 16,000 custom selected iTunes catalogue. My current amp is a five year old top of the line Yamaha receiver that has stereo and surround sound capabilities. I usually just use basic stereo for listening to music. It produces 130 watts per channel, and I only use it in a 12 x 14 office in my home. I'm just wondering if a true stereo amp would produce better sound and if you could really hear the difference. I just want some other opinions on this. I know all things are relative concerning sound issues, but am I just wasting my time trying to get any better sound than I already have?

Stream/Share Music via PC

Greetings, I'm currently a user for Motorola Droid Razr, within it is an app called Motocast. Yes I understand that Motocast is a Motorla applicaton but I guess I was seeing if Galaxy S3 had something similiar? Website doesnt say anything. Allshare Cast was very very close, but didnt say it shares music/pictures, etc
So I am wondering if theres some sort of normal Android applcation via Google Market that allows sharing of Music from a PC to the device (Samsung Galaxy)
Obviously Motocast will allow you to access your 'shared folders' from your PC.....Pictures, Music, Videos. Some in which you can download to your cell phone, others can just be for streaming
So does this device have any apps built in? Is there something like this on the Google Market? (what is it) Thanks

Okay Google Play Music is all about music, I am looking for an app that streams more content such as Pictures/Videos.
Okay so I found Google Drive, but while theres a 5GB limit (free) I am thinking that it syncs to an online server. So if I drop a 500mb file into the Google Drive folder, in order for me to view it on my cell phone (with app installed); it will have to upload 500mb to the Googles Server, for then I can view it on my phone. Downloading 500mb is easy, uploading takes forever.
So what else is there?
