Streaming - move purchases back to computer

OK I am confused.
1) I have my Apple Tv setup to stream.
2) I can buy TV shows direct from Apple TV fine
BUT how do I move those TV shows purchased directly on a streaming Apple TV back to the computer to watch on an Ipod etc ?
I understand that when you SYNC that TV shows move back to the computer automatically BUT when your streaming those TV shows purchased directly on Apple TV dont seem accessible ?

you are correct if it's set to stream nothing is sync'd
back or forth
and atv dont support streaming to the computer so
if you want the stuff up there you gotta sync
but you can just custom sync and stream all your content

  • How to find movies purchased on the computer on ATV2?

There is an option to watched purchased TV shows but not purchased movies on the APTV2. How do i watch movies i purchased on my computer (iTunes) on my apple tv without homesharing?

As Winston says Apple has not negotiated the rights to redownload movie purchases and knowing the movie studios greed it may take time if it comes at all - frankly I'm amazed they've got music companies and TV Show makers on board so they may be closer than I'd expected.
You must Home Share and will see the content under Computer>Library name>Movies if itunes is running on the LAN.

  • QT streaming .mov plays back video fine, but sound choppy with static

I created some QT streaming files with compressor. 6 bandwidths for same video file. The files themselves play fine. When I click the QT ref movie I made the sound is poppy and has some static. You can view the video here.
    http://services.ltc.arizona.edu/MediaServices/betts/betts6.mov
The problem does happen on more than one workstation, but the files on the server play fine. It's just when streaming. Any thoughts?

    Yep. Pretty horrible.
Why not use some more modern codecs? Currently you're using Sorenson 3 and IMA 4:1 audio, Stereo and at 44.100Hz. No need for stereo in a "talking head" video. No need for an audio track that is only 4 times smaller than the audio found on a CD (4:1 compression).
Use MPEG-4 Video codec and AAC audio. This will shrink the data rate and probably fix your audio issues,

  • Move music back to computer from DAP JUKE

    Hi,
A quick question regarding moving music back to the computer from my old DAP Jukebox. How do I do it's
The "Transfer" button doesn't highlight when?I try using Playcenter 2.0.
I had this problem before a while ago and I think Catherina gave the solution straight away. (But I can't remember what it was.)
    Regards,

I don't have PlayCenter 2, but do have PlayCenter 3 installed, but the functionality is the same if I recall. Click on the Rip/Transfer button on the side of the box to open the second window. Select the device of origin (Nomad Jukebox) in one window, select your target (e.g. My Computer) in the other window. Highlight the tracks that you want to transfer and this should light up the Transfer button. If you have the drivers installed for your device, along with the MediaSource plugins where applicable, PlayCenter will actually recognize players that were released long after the program had been discontinued. I happened to connect a Zen Micro to get the details for this response and it was immediately recognized.

  • Itunes first movie purchase on new computer

i am trying to buy a movie on itunes for the first time on this computer but it is asking me security questions that i have never answed before ( my best friend in highschool and favorite movie star) to be able to download the movie. plus i aswered them with the answers that would be thereand it di not work. please help

When you moved iTunes to the new computer did you copy the whole iTunes folder or just the iTunes Music folder? If you only copied the music folder then you've left the library file behind and iTunes has created a new blank one. You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
If you did copy the whole iTunes folder then you need to locate the original library file. Presuming you put everything in the default location, try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file
If you can't locate the library (if you've left it behind and no longer have access to the old computer for example), you'll have to make a new one by going to File>Add Folder to Library and adding the music from the iTunes Music folder that you did move.

  • Stream itunes purchased movies to ipad

I want to stream movies purchased in itunes to my ipad rather than download them.  I don't have enough memory to store all these movies and shows.  Apple tv can do it why can't my ipad?  I hope there is a setting I am overlooking to turn of movie and tv show storage and if there is not then there should be.
    Anyone?

I belive the Apple TV (both current version and previous version) only have 8GB of cache, so this is less than what most people would have in even the basic iPad model (16GB).  But the Apple TV is designed for streaming from another source (iTunes server for rented movies, your Mac over iTunes sharing, Netflix server, etc.)  The iPad is designed for WiFi streaming but due to agreements with the cellular carriers, they don't want to host all of that bandwith for streaming movies over their data networks.  At least, not at this time.  Perhaps that will change with 4G?  Even so, that level of data use will probably be expensive.  It would be more economical to buy an iPad with more RAM next time (or trade up -- I sold my old iPad on Amazon for almost what I paid for it and got the model with more RAM).

  • Apple TV will stream music but will not connect to iTunes library to stream movies or podcasts.  During the unsuccessful connection process, iTunes becomes unresponsive and must be forced to quit.

Apple TV 3 will stream music via Home Sharing from iTunes on Mac running 10.6.8 but will not connect to iTunes library to stream movies or podcasts.  When trying to connect, iTunes becomes unresponsive and must be forced to quit.  ATV will stream movies purchased through the ATV but not those purchased through or ripped/copied onto the Mac.  I've tried fixes suggested for similar problems (rebooting ATV and Mac, signing out then back into iTunes Store) to no success.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

This is the most bogus example of Apple rip-off EVER.  They do not advertise this *feature* and yet expect people to invest in an Apple ECOSYSTEM?  My experience with Apple TV using a central media "server" (a dedicated Mac Mini) has been atrocious.  I continually get "Cannot connect..." messages and with typical Apple "it just works" mentality, there is no reason stated.  I HATE APPLE TV and I HATE APPLE.  Peddle your crapple somewhere else.

  • I've got a new IMAC, but i don't have all my music or movie purchase on it.  I just recently updated iTunes.  How do I get my purchases back?

Ive got a new iMac and now that i updated iTunes I do not have all my music and movie purchases.  How can I get it all back?.  I used to have it before update

It doesn't magically transfer itself, you have to do it.  Purchase may present themselves for re-downloading but things such as CD are only on the old machine or on the CD.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "... back up your iTunes library. " (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).
    Additional tip at https://discussions.apple.com/message/24176756#24176756
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes if you have the sidebar displayed, or with the button at the top right.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • Every movie purchase through iTunes fails to transfer to my iPhone or iPad and the message I get is this: some of the items in the itunes library, including were not copied to the ipad because you are not authorized for them on this computer... help?

For a couple months now, every movie purchase through iTunes fails to transfer to my iPhone or iPad giving me the error: "some of the items in the iTunes library, including were not copied to the iPad because you are not authorized for them on this computer". I have read many forums about deleting, reinstalling, de-authorizing and authorizing my iMac through the iTunes store. Many suggestions don't work except to rename the movie to *.MP4 in Finder under the iTunes movie directory. I imagine this is a setting or a bug somewhere... any suggestions on how to bypass having to rename the files in Finder? My research into Google suggests this problem dates back to 2007 or so but it is now more prevalent than ever.
    Thanks.

  • How do I get my itune purchases back.  Lost them due to corrupted program or file, then computer, acer laptop crashed.  I have a desktop computer and would like to put my purchases on it.

My laptop-acer-crashed.  Before it crashed, my audio started to act up,  It would work then silence.  Then my tv shows which I purchased in itunes would freeze up then start, freeze again then played.  It got to the point that I could not even play my shows or movies.  Then my computer crashed, seen the famous blue screen.  Restarted the computer and did a full scan for programs and files.  Found 2 files for removal, so I did that, but it still crashes.  Now I can't do anything on it.  I can't even get into moxilla to google anything.  Laptop is useless.  It would cost alot to fix it and my itunes library is lost anyways.
So I would like my purchases back so I can get them on my desktop.  I've spent
alot of money on itunes cards to purchase these lost items.  So is my itunes library lost forever or is there a way to get them back.

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

  • My computer crashed, how do I get my purchases back?

I don't have my purchases backed up on an iPod because I was just using an iPod shuffle. Can I redownload the songs/podcasts/audiobooks etc. without having to pay again?

    You cannot.
You buy one and only one download.  It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

  • MacBook Pro. Was Streaming radio. When came back to computer it appeared to have shut off. Now can't get it to respond in any way.

MacBook Pro. Was Streaming radio. When came back to computer it appeared to have shut off. Now can't get it to respond in any way. Now that you can't remove the battery, I don't know how to get it to quit, although it doesn't appear to be making any noise, so might have quit on it's own.  Any ideas? Thanks!

I honestly don't remember what it came with though I do remember having two drives so long ago.  Since then I've had to replace them with newer, faster ones, and just didn't really need a second drive.  I don't copy cds, I just need something to read DVDS (which the current one doesn't seem to want to do) and occasionally burn something.
I bought the MacPro becuase I am a tireless multitasker, having super memory eating programs on at all times.  Right now I am working in Photoshop while watching a movie, with two P2P programs open, two chat programs and surfing the internet, with two monitors active so I can see everything.. I can't imagine the average pc doing this wthout blowing up   Mac Pros are the ultimate computer for those that like to do a lot at once.
The speed and memory capacity of the Mac Pro make it the best computer hands down to handle a mind that can't be satisfied with doing just one thing at a time!
And six years after buying it, it can still eat the average pc for breakfast  How's that for great?
