Streaming music from i-tunes to my PS3 w/out disabling firewall
I wanted to know if any of you have been able to stream media from your i-tunes library to an external server without disabling your firewall? Right now the only way I can do it is if I turn the firewall completely off. If I enable only the port directed at i-tunes it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
PS: I use EyeConnect to stream the media but is there something that works better or something that is free perhaps?
VOB files are mpeg-2. I'll give them a try.
iPhoto worked fine, like iTunes it read all the albums + slideshows etc.
PowerMac here - may be different with intel.
I'm going to wait a few weeks before I tackle this again. I'd prefer to use EC so I can stream EyeTV without having to convert files.
Was just emailed this from Eyeconnect Support.

The new PlayStation 3 firmware does offer the opportunity for software like EyeConnect to send data to it.
However, EyeConnect is not yet optimized for the PS3. This would explain the problems a few users have seen.
So, we will test EyeConnect with the PS3, and adjust EyeConnect software as needed.
Hopefully we can have our tests done soon, but we have no specific data to share about when this additional functionality might be ready."

Can't stream Music from iTunes to my Apple TV
I bought an ATV for the sole purpose of being able to stream music from my PC iTunes account to my Samsung smart TV. As it turns out, that is the one thing my ATV will not do. I have had my ATV for about three months and have never been able to stream music to it from my PC. I do not see my ATV as a device in iTunes and I do not have the airplay icon visible in iTunes

Here are some things which work fine on the ATV:
Netflix works perfectly e.g., it sees my wifi network
Youtube works perfectly
Under Music I can see the 2 songs my wife purchased from the iTunes store – I purchase all my music from Amazon.
Things I have done
Turned Home Sharing on and am using the same account in iTunes and on my ATV
Reinstalled iTunes – 11.0.2.26
Updated ATV to latest software
Rebooted my computer – several times
Rebooted my router – several times
How do I resolve this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.I tried a new approach and unplugged my ATV brought it over to my computer and connected it to my router via ethernet. This caused the airplay icon to show up on the transport bar in iTunes. I could select the ATV as an output. I disconnected the ethernet cable and reconnected the ATV to my TV. The airplay icon remains in iTunes but the ATV is no longer there as an option - only my computer speakers. Any ideas?

When I click on the Music tab on my Apple TV 2, a message tells me I have to set up iTunes Match to stream music from my iTunes library on my iMac. I don't want to set up and pay for iTunes Match. How can I get back to the pre-Match system which let me just use home sharing to stream music from computer to Aple TV
Ditto.
You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:

In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

Deleting music from i-tunes after storing on external hard drive
I am running out of space on my hard drive from transfering and purchasing music from i-tunes. I have an externl hard drive where I have been backing up all my CD transfers and i-tunes purchases. I would first like to delete all my music from i-tunes. I have it set up now where all my new music is going to my external hard drive It is doing this but also showing up in my i-tunes library. I assume this is for me to sync with my i-pod? Would like to just be able to run the i-tunes program directly through my hard drive if this is possible? Also when I tried to delete the music it said it would be removed from my i-pod as well? I-Tunes support said to click on my recycle bin and then empty recycle bin. I tried this but did not find the link to click? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks djfree
You only have to open Finder and select your external disk on the Finder sidebar. Then, open iTunes, select the songs with Command key and drag them onto the Finder window that you have previously opened

As simple as I thought intellectual programmers would have made things for users, it seems I should have studied rocket science.

Is there a way to stream music from my iPad to my iPod touch? I have an iPod touch that I never use anymore since I got the iPad; so connecting the iPod to my stereo would be the best solution for me.

i just bought an apple tv and it wont stream music from my imac. when i click on the apple tv music icon it accesses the itunes store and brings up only that music i have purchased from apple instead of all the music i have stored in itunes on my imac.
The music icon will only access your purchased music. You need to go to the computer icon. It must be on and running iTunes, and home-sharing enabled in order for it to be accessible to Apple TV

I am having issues with streaming music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my audio system through AirPlay. Works perfectly with my iPod Touch. The AirPlay icon appears irregularly in iTunes and when selected doesn't connect. Running latest IOS software.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Airport - streaming music from cable provider through airport network
I've been wondering if it is possible to stream music from my cable provider into and through my Airport wireless network.
OK, I have 3 in 1 service from my cable provider; cable TV, telephone and internet. But I have two separate set top boxes; one for cable TV and the other for telephone and internet. The set top box for cable TV decodes the signal for TV and music.
The problem as I see it, if you setup is the same, is getting the music signal into your Mac. The only way that I know to do that is with a USB TV receiver that is connected to your cable box, such as an El Gato EyeTV Hybrid. Then you need an app that allows you to send the audio from the EyeTV app to broadcast over your network.

Can iTunes be configured to stream its output over the IP connection? I fell into an Airlink Music Bridge..I have it talking on my network, but I don't know how to get iTunes to send it's output to it. Airlink has a utility for doing it on PC's but nothing for MAC...I just know the MAC can do this....not having any luck on Airlink site...
