Streaming music (MotoCast, ZumoCast alternative)

Hi,
I've been a DROID MAXX user for about 3 months (switched from Droid Bionic which was upgrade of original Moto Droid).
On my Bionic, I was a heavy user of ZUMOCAST for streaming music and files from my PC to my phone.  I know that program is no more and MotoCast is not supported on the DROID MAXX.  I have far too much music/data to do a direct transfer to my DROID MAXX.
Any suggestions/alternatives?  (Especially programs that don't have high subscription costs).
I tried a program called Subsonic which worked well but the PC prgram seemed to destabilize my Windows 7 OS so I had to uninstall.
Any advice would be appreciated!

    stisserb,
I understand all to well about having music on the phone. I am a big music buff. Great news, one thing that I do so transfer all of my music on to an SD Card. So this way it doesn't use up all of my phones memory. You can always get memory cards here: http://vz.to/17ycvC Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • AirPort Express vs. Alternative Method to Stream Music to Stereo System

I have two whole-house stereo systems; one serving the lower level (basement) of my house and another serving the first and second floors. My iMac is on the lower level. The house was prewired with two coax cables (standard cable TV-type cables) from the area behind my stereo on the lower level to the room where my iMac is located. Using adapters from Radio Shack, I was able to directly connect my iMac to my home stereo on the lower level. I can currently play my iTunes on my lower level stereo by plugging the cable into the headphone jack on my iMac.
I am set up with a wireless network using a Linksys WRT54G. I would like to be able to also stream music from iTunes on my iMac to my home stereo on the first floor. I realize I can do this with the use of Airport Express. My goal is to be able to play the same music from iTunes on my iMac on both stereos simultaneously.
I have been reading reviews online of the AirPort Express and it sounds like there are some reliability and performance issues. I read that one alternative is the LinkSys WMB54G, see link below
    http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=LProductC2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1137451822026&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisit orWrapper&lid=2202640536B02
But, now I need more information on this device. Will it work for my goal?
Thank you in advance for your time.

Actually, I didn't have to use any other utilities to be able to listen to the music from my iMac and from the AirPort Express. It's working beautifully! I bought an AirPort Express and the Mac stereo connection kit just so I could get the power extension cord and the optical sound cable too in case I ever need them. The guy at the Apple Store didn't even know they had those kits. He was trying to sell me a mini plug to RCA jack for $25 (Belkin) to $30 (Monster Cable). I figured for $10 more it was worth it to get the extra stuff. It was extremely easy to set up too with the helpful link provided to me by "Don Corleone" in another post. I'm very happy so far. Hopefully the reliability issues I mentioned (I have read other posts where the users said the AirPort Express just quit working after a short time) will not haunt me.

  • How do i stream music from my ipod touch to my ordinary speakers?

Can I stream music from my ipod touch to my ordinary speakers using a bluetooth stereo gateway? Is there any application that allows me to stream music in this manner? Is there any other alternative setup to stream music from my ipod to my pc speakers or to any other speakers.ipod touch 3g 3.13/4.0

Yes, you can. You need a bluetooth receiver connected to your stereo. Here's one: http://www.belkin.com/iwcatproductpage.process?product_id=508754
    It's cheaper from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8Z492tt-Bluetooth-Music-Receiver/dp/B003ICW4LU/ref =sr11?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1278894888&sr=8-1

  • How to stream music from computer to UPnP device

I recently purchased a digital radio which is UPnP compliant.  I can stream music from my Macbook laptop using ElgatoEye Connect but this won't run on my old G5 iMac where all my music is stored. It is not convenient to use a laptop all the time.  What software can I use that will run on my pre Intel computer?

The app I use for this is called Zumocast. Search for it on iTunes or in the App Store. It will stream music, video, and other files such as documents from your PC to your iPod via the Internet. It works great, I streamed a movie last night in fact.

  • Can't stream Music from iTunes to my Apple TV

I bought an ATV for the sole purpose of being able to stream music from my PC iTunes account to my Samsung smart TV.  As it turns out, that is the one thing my ATV will not do.  I have had my ATV for about three months and have never been able to stream music to it from my PC.  I do not see my ATV as a device in iTunes and I do not have the airplay icon visible in iTunes
    Gear
    3rd generation ATV
    PC running Windows 7
Here are some things which work fine on the ATV:
Netflix works perfectly e.g., it sees my wifi network
    Youtube works perfectly
Under Music I can see the 2 songs my wife purchased from the iTunes store – I purchase all my music from Amazon.
    Things I have done
Turned Home Sharing on and am using the same account in iTunes and on my ATV
    Reinstalled iTunes – 11.0.2.26
    Updated ATV to latest software
Rebooted my computer – several times
Rebooted my router – several times
How do I resolve this issue?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried a new approach and unplugged my ATV brought it over to my computer and connected it to my router via ethernet.  This caused the airplay icon to show up on the transport bar in iTunes.  I could select the ATV as an output.  I disconnected the ethernet cable and reconnected the ATV to my TV.  The airplay icon remains in iTunes but the ATV is no longer there as an option - only my computer speakers.  Any ideas?

  • Can itunes stream music to separate speakers in one room and apple TV?

I was thinking about getting an apple TV and one question I have is whether it's possible to stream music from my imac to speakers/airport in the living room as well as to apple TV/tv speakers in another room? A second question to this, can this all still be controlled by the iphone remote app?

Oh, if you don't want to use Airfoil, iTunes itself allows you to stream to multiple speakers, look at the left side of the bottom of the iTunes window you will see the control for the speakers, it probably says "computer" on your system, if you clik on it it should show any connected "airtunes" speakers and appleTV if yo have one.

  • How do I set up iPad with airport express to stream music to stereo without internet connection?

how do i set up iPad and airport express to stream music to stereo without using internet connection.

Your 4th gen iPad does have the necessary software to connect to the AirPort Express but not to administer it. To do the later, you would need to install the AirPort Utility applet.
You said that your iPad can "see" the AirPort's wireless network, but can't connect. What happens exactly when you attempt to do so? Do any of your other wireless devices have any trouble connecting to the Express? Did you configure the Express for a closed network ... that is, not to broadcast its Network Name?

  • My apple tv 2 says I can't stream music from my iTunes library on my iMac without settng up iTunes Match. I don't want to set up iTunes match. How can I get back to the pre-Match system which let me just use home sharing to stream music from computer to A

When I click on the Music tab on my Apple TV 2, a message tells me I have to set up iTunes Match to stream music from my iTunes library on my iMac. I don't want to set up and pay for iTunes Match. How can I get back to the pre-Match system which let me just use home sharing to stream music from computer to Aple TV

    Ditto.
You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

  • How can I configure AX to only stream music?

My set-up: G4 tower running OS X 10.4.11 with an early AirPort card installed (probably 801.11b) and a used AirPort Express (AX) 801.11g. For my internet and printer network I have an ethernet D-Link router whose 4 ports are all in use. I intend to keep that network for my DSL and printer. All I got the AX for was to stream music to my stereo from my Mac.
Problem: I've been unable to get my Mac to "see" AX as a wireless device. I have it plugged into a power-strip across the room near the stereo with an audio cord to my stereo plugged into it.
Under another topic on this forum it was suggested that I configure the AX by directly connecting to it with an ethernet chord from it to my Mac. I did this, but much of the configuring process seemed to be for setting it up as an Internet router, which I don't want it to be. And anyway, after I configured it and unplugged it from the ethernet and plugged it in across the room again, the Mac still couldn't see it.
It was also suggested that I set it up as a bridge on the existing D-Link network by connecting the AX to the router via ethernet, but this won't work because 1) all the D-Link ports are already in use, and 2) the D-Link is across the room from the AX near my computer and I don't need one more big honking cable strung across the room.
All I want to do is make the streaming music set-up shown in the diagram on page 18 of the AirPort Express Setup Guide 5.1 work as shown. That's all. I'm on my second day of pounding away on this (it has used up probably a good 6 hours of my time already).
Any help would be appreciated, especially from anyone who has run into precisely this same problem and successfully solved it. If you need more details from me, I'll provide them as I can.

I think that it is beginning to dawn on me that I've been thinking of the whole Airport Express model in the wrong way. I had it in my mind that you plugged in Airport Express, ran an audio cable between it and your stereo, and via the Airport card in your Mac you could transmit music from iTunes to your stereo as if Airport Express were some kind of in-between receiver/transmitter.
But, I'm now thinking that that is not the right paradigm. What one really has with Airport Express is a wireless network router which has the incidental capacity to receive music from iTunes and pass it along to your stereo.
In other words, in configuring Airport Express, what I am really doing is creating a wireless network. If you already have a wireless network in place, then the Airport Express just acts as an extension of that, and the music can be transmitted via the network from one of the computers on it to the stereo wired into the Airport Express.
Or, if you don't have a wireless network in place, you can create one in configuring the Airport Express.
BUT, if you have an ethernet network in place (as do I) then you run into the knotty issue that in configuring Airport Express you are creating an additional network. So, even if I get my Mac to "see" the Airport Express network (which remains hypothetical after 2 days), it seems probable that I'll have to 'turn off' my ethernet network when I want to pipe music through the AE network, because it seems unlikely that I can run an ethernet AND a wireless network both at the same time.
This could be solved, from what I am beginning to comprehend, by hard wiring the AE via an ethernet cable into my D-Link router, except that 1) my D-Link's ports are all already full, and 2) my D-Link is near my Mac and the stereo is across the room and the cable between the stereo and the AE is only 6 feet long. And if I were to string an ethernet cable all the way to the AE, I might as well just run a stereo cable all the way across the room between the Mac and stereo and skip the Airport Express altogether.
I could possibly solve all this by ditching the D-Link ethernet network altogether and going all wireless, but I have little faith that the single Airport Express would have sufficient range to reach my wife's PC laptop in the living room. I suppose, if I were really brave, I might test this out by trying to swap our working ethernet DSL and printer network over to wireless on the AE and see if her laptop could pick up the Airport Express from my study, but I suspect it might not AND we would still have the 'across the room' issue, as I would have to run an ethernet DSL cable from the DSL modem near my computer to the AE near the stereo.
So I think this is one of those "can't get there from here" situations. I did notice that the latest (early 2008) version of the Airport Express Setup Guide has eliminated the diagram showing a Mac transmitting to AE with audio cable to stereo. Perhaps Apple realized that touting AE as a connection for a printer or for music alone was misleading as it would conflict with another network already in place, unless one made the AE a bridge from that network.
If someone can debunk these hard-won conclusions and show me a way to keep my ethernet network intact while simultaneously running an AE network to just my stereo, you are welcome to.

  • Can I stream music to apple tv and airport express at the same time?

Does anyone know if I can stream music to both AppleTV and Airport Express (speakers) at the same time?
I have a TV in my living room and external speakers on my deck and want to stream music to both at the same time so I have the same music playing in both rooms - but I can't get an answer on IF I can do both at the same time or it I'd have to select one over the other?
    Anyone know?

yes - the built-in music app allows to select one speaker only at the same time.
now i've found the WHAALE Multiroom Player App (http://www.whaale.com) - and it sends directly from the iOS Device to my 6 AirPlay speakers. One of them is an Apple TV...
all "in sync" and without any special hardware and additional software.
And i am able to stream different songs to different rooms...
    Just AirPlay speakers - wifi router - WHAALE -> that's easy :-)

  • I cannot access my computer library on apple tv .. Although I can stream music .... No pics at all ... It used to My computer has iTunes open I am pretty sure it is on same network as apple tv  My computer will stream music on iTunes from my computer but

    My computer has iTunes open
I am pretty sure it is on same network as apple tv
My computer will stream music on iTunes from my computer but not
show owners library and not any pictures
In apple tv settings - AirPlay is on and so is home sharing
In my computer iTunes - home sharing is on

I get this  problem every day or two when trying to connect my ATV 2 running 5.1.1 to iTunes 11.0.1 on an iMac running OS X 10.8.2 (though it started happening with earlier releases of both ATV software and iTunes. I think it started happening regularly following the installation of the ATV 5.0 software, with I think iTunes 10.6 or thereabouts.) They're connected over WiFi via an Airport Extreme basestation.
The TV simply shows a black screen with:
'Could not connect to "<iTunes library name>"'. 'Make sure the computer is on the same network as your Apple TV , the iTunes version is up to date, and iTunes is running.'
I've found the way to fix this problem when it happens is to restart the Apple TV (Settings>General>Restart). This always seems to correct it and allows me to connect to iTunes successfully once again, but the problem always returns sooner or later and I've not been able to determine what triggers it exactly. It  seems to happen more often if the iMac running iTunes has been put to sleep with iTunes running and subsequently woken, but it also happens sometimes when I wake ATV and try to connect it to a freshly booted iMac and newly launched iTunes.
I keep hoping a new release of ATV software will fix it but neither 5.1 nor 5.1.1  made any noticable difference and neither have newer releases of iTunes.

  • Removing IOS 5 and reverting to ios 4 (iphone 4) - as it will not allow me to download apps or stream music on radio apps.

    HI
i updated to ios 5 today on my iphone 4 much to my dismay it cant stream radio apps i paid for anymore because it somehow HOGS the internet, but yet when i tried to play one of the multiplayer adventure games it is fine.  i dont know if its an INDIVIDUAL app issue whereby i have to enable or disable something or something within the settings to do with the itnernet i need to change?
i cant even download apps on my iphone either it gives an error reading something along the lines of my internet; i connect at home with wifi and successfully stream music radio apps through my home speaker system; or i did do so before updating to this TRASH!. so i'm sure you can understand why i now ask to remove ios5 otherwise there is no point in me keeping the iphone, i have one year left on my mobile contract with orange to pay for.
i need to perform a downgrade, i have ONE back up from july which would be the ios4 version if i restore it using this back up file in itunes, would it definately remove the ios 5 and put the ios4 backon my iphone ?
    Lorrie

    You can NOT downgrade iOS.
That said, millions people have updated to iOS 5 without experiencing the problems you report. Why don't you try some basic troubleshooting before you resort to drastic measures.
Restoring from your backup will NOT revert the phone to iOS 4.
First, try to reset all settings. This will re-set the network settings and clear any personalization (wallpaper, custom assigned ringtones, etc.) but you will not lose any data.
Then, try a simple re-set. If that doesn't work, try restoring from your last backup. If that doesn't work, Erase all content and settings and set it up as a new device.  It's possible one or more of the apps you are trying to use
