Streaming on Xbox 360 trough time Capsule

Anyone has tried to share the pictures and videos stored on the time capsule ?
I know the streaming on xbox360 doesn't work with all the shared storage HD

This is not possible. I would suggest you check out a program called "Connect360" that allows your iTunes music library and iPhoto library to be streamed on your 360.

  • HELP! xbox 360 and time capsule?

Hi, I just got a new time capsule and im having trouble getting my xbox 360 to work with it. I am wired into the capsule, but i would LOVE to go wireless(so that I can move the 360 from room to room and still be connected to XBL)! I have the 360 wireless network adapter, but I cant find the "WAP" that the 360 is asking for when trying to connect to the network setup through my capsule. If any of you could help, that would be awesome!

Hello Joe Toe. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
By "WAP'" I assume that you mean WPA wireless encryption ... correct? If so, WPA is something that you as the Time Capsule (TC) administrator would have to have pre-configured. Otherwise, by default the TC will not be enabled for any security.
    On the TC:
o Use the AirPort Utility to check the following settings:
    Summary Tab
o Jot down the Network Name. (Note: The Network Name is the same as the SSID used by the Xbox.)
    AirPort > Wireless Tab
o Note your Wireless Security settings.
AirPort > Wireless Tab > Wireless Options
o Note, whether or not, you have "Create a closed network" checked.
    Internet > Internet Connection Tab
o Make sure Connection Sharing is set to "Share a public IP address."

On the Xbox 360:
o System tab > Network Settings > Edit Settings
    o IP Settings: Automatic
    o DNS Settings: Automatic
o Wireless Mode > Select Wireless Network (Note: If you had "Create a closed network" enabled on the TC, then you will need to select "Specify Unlisted Network" otherwise you should see the base station's Network Name.)
o Edit Wireless Security Settings (Note: You will have an opportunity to select your wireless security settings. They must match those set in the TC.) If you're not using wireless security, then select "No Security" from the list.
    o Apply Settings
o Test Xbox Live and/or Test Media (This will run a series of tests to verify that your wireless is setup properly.)

  • XBOX Live and Time Capsule Configurations

I've been searching now for just about an hour online, and unfortunately my head is spinning just a bit trying to figure out how to configure my XBOX Live with Time Capsule.  In order to allow for Open access (versus Moderate), it seems as though some manual configurations need to be made so the XBOX and Time Capsule play well together.  But the thing I am unable to figure out is...HOW DO I DO THIS?!  Specifically, what are the steps I must take to configure Airport and/or XBOX?  What information do I need from the XBOX?  I've been reading about port forwarding, which seems to be the solution, but I really am not familiar with how this is done on Time Capsule.  So for those of you with the know-how and patience to write a play-by-play for dummies from the very beginning to the point where all should work, I'd appreciate it.
Just a quick insight to my network...I have Time Capsule connected to my ISP modem.  Thank you!

And isn't the "host device" and "base station" the same thing?
No, host device is the box that is the server you are trying to map to.. base station is the Airport Extreme as he is writing more to that market.. TC is the same though.
Just port forward the standard ports for xbox live.. I do not believe all of these are necessary.
    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live/connecting/network-ports-used-xbox-live
Xbox LIVE requires the following ports to be open:
    Port 88 (UDP)
    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 80 (TCP)
Make sure you lock the IP of the xbox .. using dhcp reservations in the TC is the best but on the xbox will also work.. the rest should be straight forward.
Tell us a bit more.. What model TC do you have? A1xxx from the base please??
What is the ISP modem? Is it also a router.. if so consider hard using the router in the modem.. if it is upnp so xbox can work automagically .. rather than killing yourself mapping ports.. the advantage of upnp is more than one xbox can work on the same LAN.. you can never do this manually forwarding ports.
What Airport utility are you running? Do you have access to v5 utility? If not I can give instructions to load it on Mountain Lion.
What firmware is the TC on? Lots of issues with 7.6.3 ie the latest one.. so 7.6.1 is better alternative. Always and in some earlier TC then 7.5.2 is much better again.

  • Can I stream things directly from the time capsule to my AppleTv without using my computer?

I have an older MacBook and I'm worried about the storage so I want to get things moved to a Time Capsule.  I was just wondering if I can stream things directly from the Time Capsule to the AppleTV without having to store them in iTunes on my computer and play them off of there.

You cannot stream from a TC .. it is not a media device.. you can store movie files on the TC but you still need to run the computer to play them.
Depending on how you connect this can cause dramatic slowdowns.
A WD Live TV can play raw movie files from a TC.. because it is not a media streamer which is all the ATV is, it is a full media player.

  • Settings for streaming to XBox 360 over Connect360

Anyone have recommended settings for transcoding/encoding to stream on XBox 360 from Mac via Connect360?

I just did a bunch of encodes, tried all kinds of settings.
I found that both MP4 and ipod/iphone 640x480 worked well.
I haven't tried any HD settings yet, but that will come.
It was pretty cool. I took my son's football game on DV, dumped it into FCP, encoded it to a QT Movie, and played it down in the basement on the big screen. (Coaches Film Session)
The only thing that didn't work as well as I would like is that the chapters that I set up weren't as accurate as I would like (I set a chapter marker at the beginning of each play. If I remember correctly, i may need to force an i frame with each chapter marker.)
Connect 360 Rocks imho. It was very frustrating for video until this last xbox software upgrade, but now it will play both mp4 and h.264.
If you run into any trouble, just export a short clip from FCP, then use compressor and try all kinds of settings. Then see which one works for your desired quality.
Like I said, apple devices, ipod/iphone 640x480 worked great. Looked awesome on a 1080p projector at 120" diag!

  • Xbox Live via Time Capsule

    Hey All
This is my first post here .
I have a Time Capsule (sorry about the lack of tech specs) which is connected to a Netgear N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router which is connected to the wall via ethernet (obviously ).
I want to see if it is possible to give the netgear router the responsibility of connecting the iMac, 2 ipod touches, 2 iPhones and a Macbook Pro to the internet, while the Time Capsule acts as a wireless router for the xbox 360 I want to connect to XBOX Live. Is there a way to connect the xbox 360 to the Time Capsule via ethernet and the Time Capsule to the Netgear router via wireless and keep the Time Capsule backing up the iMac Simultaneously.
    Please reply ASAP!
    Thanks

Yikes.I haven't had much to do with networking.I was trying to find out getting an old mac OS8.6 to see my OSX network.
    How about this site. http://guides.macrumors.com/NetworkingWindows_with_Mac_OSX
I assume you have a Mac with OSX and xbox is windows.
Did you try CNET Forums also?
This one seems more promising. Mac Meet Xbox

  • No scanning trough time capsule network

I have a time capsule with a airport express attached to it.
    Everything works fine.
    Backup
    Music streams
    Printing.
But my HP F2420 absolutely refuses to scan in the network.
It does scan on USB connection (so the scanner is OK)
But the software sais that there is no scanner found in the network WHILE IT SEES THE PRINTER (and thats the same machine.
    Anyone a hind?

The USB ports on the Time Capsule and AirPort Express only support the printing function. Advanced functions like scan, fax, copy and maintenance are not supported.
You will need to connect your all-in-one device directly to your computer when you need the advanced functions.

  • Streaming to Xbox 360

Anyone having issues with the media hub streaming to their Xbox 360?  I can see the device and all image folders remotely from the xbox, but when I want to view a picture from a folder, it just sits there saying Picture Loading for a few minutes.

Hmmm, this is quiet something. I need to know more information first.
    1.       What’s the resolution of the pictures? Maybe its still indexing the pictures.
    2.       Can you view the pictures from the NMH if you’re using your MCE Computer?
    3.       Can you view the pictures on XBOX 360 if the pictures are saved on the MCE Computer?
    4.       Did you disable the firewalls already?

  • Will Apple TV stream iTunes media saved on Time Capsule with mac switched off

I have Apple TV gen1 running on 40gb internal HD. I was wondering if upgrading to gen 2 and using Time Capsule, will macbook need to be on/on network, or can Apple TV gen2 stream direct from iTunes Media saved on Time Capsule

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Both models of Apple TV require iTunes to be running on a computer in order to stream content from it's library.

  • Question about streaming music using AE with Time capsule

I have a time capsule with over 120gb of music stored on it. I'd like to be able to stream this music directly from the time capsule to an airport express connected to a stereo in another room. I do have an iPhone 3G with the remote app. (I have not got the airport express, yet.)
I am really hoping that I can use the iPhone remote app to control the music playing through the airport express, without having to have a computer turned on and runing iTunes.
I believe this is possible with Apple TV, but since I don't own a TV or monitor other than my laptop screen, that isn't the most practical solution.
So, can I use airport express to stream music from a time capsule, without having to run iTunes on my MacBook?
    Thanks.
    SevenDog

    No.
You would have to have itunes running in order to stream music, or, as you point out, have an appleTV

  • Media Sharing to Xbox 360 trough WRT160N

Does anyone know if I have to forward a port or hange a setting or do something?
I did not change any settings on my PC or anything when I changed from my old G series to this new N series, but for some reason, the 360 can't find the PC but on the Linksys Easylink I can see it connected and I can see the Ethernet port light on the router light up when the 360 turns on.
    Any help?

Also turn all firewalls off then try connect, once you are connected you can turn your firwalls back on...
This could also be a computer software firewall problem.  When you replaced your router, your computer software firewall noticed that you "joined a new network", and therefore automatically set itself so that no other computers/devices on the network are "trusted".  Therefore signals from the other computers/devices are being blocked by the computer software firewall.
To fix this problem, go into the computer software firewall on each computer, and set it to "trust" the other computers on your network.
If your firewall or PC security program keeps a list of trusted applications (also known as a "trusted zone"), then make sure that your router is in the trusted zone on your firewall...

  • How can i get an xbox 360 to connect to my time capsule via WIRED connection?

I have a Time Capsule and i need to connect my xbox 360 to it because my stepdad has the network in this house set up crazily. He gets mad if i ask him to change anything because it is how he wants it and it works with EVERYTHING ELSE. I do not have a wireless adapter so i need to connect the xbox to my time capsule via a wired connection
    Thanks =]

Here is what I would look into.
Use iCloud and photo stream to upload pictures taken with the iPad.
Find a remote log in utility, or web based app to then remote to your computer.
Download the files from photo stream to your time capsule.
As far as recommending a remote log in utility. I have not experience in that area and would need to do research my self.

  • Time Capsule and Xbox 360

Just got a Time Capsule 2tb, need to hook to my linksys router wrt54gs and be able to stream to Xbox 360 using Connect360 software installed in the system preferences on a mac running Mac OS Server 10.4.11. Help How do i get this done? right now the TC light is just blinking amber.

Hello ShelbyWeiss. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
How do you have the Time Capsule (TC) configured in your current network? That is, do you have it physically connected to the Linksys router or completely separate? Is the TC configured to join the Linksys' wireless network or to create its own? Is the Linksys the main router connected to the Internet modem or is the TC performing this roll?

  • How can i connect xbox to time capsule?

Hi, I am (whilst being shouted at by my 11 year old son), trying to connect Xbox 360 to a time capsule. I tried last year without success, and afer chatting with a bloke yesterday in an Apple store, I thought I would try again. No luck. I've tried inputting every set of numbers and address I can find, but the Xbox, just will not connect. Is there a simple set of instructions that will do this? The forums I've looked at have information that is beyond me. The time capsule is connected to a Virgin media modem via ethernet. The Xbox Live connects via ethernet cable to modem just fine. I would just like it to work wirelessly so I don't have to keep plugging the cable back into the time capsule and rebooting. As an alternative is there a piece of kit that would let both the Xbox and the time capsule remain wired up to the modem? There only seems to be one connector however. Many thanks in advance.

Connect an Ethernet cable from a LAN <-> port on the Verizon gateway to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the Time Capsule.
Then, temporarily connect a spare Ethernet cable from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to help AirPort Utility "see" the Time Capsule. Once you have the Time Capsule configured and updated with new settings, you can remove the spare Ethernet cable.
If that is not successful, you will need to perform a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule as follows:
Pull the power plug on the Time Capsule
    Wait 4-5 minutes
Hold in the reset button on the Time Capsule and while you continue to hold it in, plug the power back to the Time Capsule
Keep holding the reset button for 8-10 seconds before you release it
Wait 30-40 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Restart your Mac, then open AirPort Utility to configure the Time Capsule

  • How do I use my time capsule as wifi for my xbox one?

How does one setup a time capsule to use as a home network to allow Xbox one usage as well?

set up the time capsule with an iOS device, a Mac or a PC, and then connect the Xbox to the time capsule like with any other router. however, for some Xbox features, you'll need to do specific setting changes. see this thread: Apparently I need to open several ports on my Airport Extreme to be able to chat on Xbox One.
