Streaming Photos

I am streaming music and photos from my Window Media Centre; all is fine until I close down iTunes and place the Apple TV in Standby. When I reopen iTunes and the Apple TV the photos cannot be found; it basically comes back with the message ‘there are no photos in this library’. What I have to do is open Apple TV in iTunes and re-apply the existing details in the photos tab (where the photos are located etc). All is well till I close again…can you throw any light on this?

Yes I know exactly what you mean, I've done the same thing but through iweb photo pages.

I just wish there was some way to remove the 'My Gallery' button in the top left corner of each album and stop everyone going to the main gallery page. Who knows when I've finished reorganising my photos, adding them to iweb, updated my video pages, finished all my home videos, got my blogs up to date and prepared everything for the tv, I might have a look at that code.
Post a link, let's take a look at your gallery and how you've implemented it, I assume we've done much the same thing.

Hi you have basicly 2 Options.
1 -if you Switch One fotostream on all 3 devices of yours which are working on the same apple id -all Fotos you Take with your iPad will be synchronized via icloud to the other 2 decvices ( w-lan and battery depending).
2- If you select foots or a whole album in iPhoto on your air or iMac and choose than puplish --> fotostream --> new or existing event you can key in a friends mail. If this friend has iCloud and iPhoto ( for iMac or MacBook ) and click on the link in the email it will download this fotos in the fotostream section in iPhoto. If he has a iPad, iPhone,... It will do it in the foto app and if he doesn't have a iCloud account at all and you choose "public web site" while publishing he can see your fotostream on a website.

Can i use my laptop which is running Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade from Vista to stream photos using ICloud. The outlook programme used is 2003 and i my devices are IPad mini and IPhone 5. My problem is that i able to drag pictures into ICloud for it to send to my devices but nothing happens. Why?
I am grateful for any advice.

A hard drive if it has failed will sometimes allow you to boot into windows but may not work completely (Eg: In a scenario, where system partition ;where windows is installed works fine but logical partition of hard drive has gone bad).
On certain conditions, if the hard drive is on verge of failure may/may not respond completely. I would suggest you to run a diagnostics using Seagate Seatools which works on any hard drive irrespective of manufacturer to actually confirm if your hard drive has failed.
Also, any hard drive can fail in spite of it been 1yr old or 1day old as its all manufactured in bulk and most of it comes from China

  • How can I stream photos to 2 of 4 devices, have same apple ID?

Hi, my wife and I both have a IPhone and IPad. We use the same apple account for purchases. But I don't want to stream photos on all devices.  Is there a way to stream photos from my phone to my iPad but not to my wife's and then have her devices share here photos? Thanks in advance for the help.

You need to keep the same ID as you both have now for the iTunes store but you need to delete the iCloud account for one of you on both the iPhone and the iPad (settings > iCloud, scroll down and select delete account). You then need to create a new iCloud account (settings >iCloud).
Before deleting iCloud accounts, consider that iCloud syncs calendars, email, notes, reminders and contacts, you won't delete any of that information from iCloud by deleting the account you will however delete it from the phone/iPad unless you turn each service off one by one before deleting the account, if you do this you will be offered the opportunity to keep the data on the device.
When you create your new iCloud account you will be offered the opportunity to merge data (if you have have previously elected to keep it on your device).
Hope that makes sense, my battery ran out just before I finished typing and I've had to type it all again - sometimes you rush things the second time around.

  • TS3989 I have photo stream setup on iPhoto on my macbook pro and I just got 2 iPhones for my family and only one streams photos to iCloud photo stream.  Both iPhones have the same Apple ID and have Photo Stream turned on.  Shouldn't both iPhones stream ph

I have photo stream setup on iPhoto on my MacBook Pro and on 2 new iPhones that have the same AppleID as the MacBook Pro.  However only one iPhone will stream photos to iPhoto on the MacBook Pro.  All these devices were purchased in the last 2 weeks.  What setting is wrong?

Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

  • How can I retrieve old Photo Stream photos from a lost iPhoto Library?

My laptop was stolen and with it an external drive that had my iPhoto library.  I had an old backup and when I opened the backup and turned on Photo Stream, I saw all my old photos appear again!  After a short while, it was removing old photos from the photostream and replacing them with newer ones.  I'm now missing months of Photo Stream photos that I really want back.  I tried creating a new library and enabling Photo Stream to try to capture those missing images, but I am not able to see anything older than Oct.  I could really use some help if somebody knows a way to get those memories back...
    Thanks
    -Rob

    I had an old backup
What kind of backup? Do you have a Time Machine Backup of your complete system from the time before the laptop was stolen?
To restore the Photo Stream images from that time you need to restore the folder
    your home folder /Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/Assets
This folder contains the PhotoStream pictures that were part of the PhotoStream at that time.
To restore this folder from TimeMachine, open a Finder window showing this folder, make it the active window, and then enter TimeMachine. Go back in time in the TimeTunnel, till you see the correct date. Don't restore to the library but to a folder on the Desktop.

  • I have 2 iCloud accounts. 3 devices use one of them as a primary account; my iPhone uses the other as a primary account so I can't stream photos from iPhone etc. What to do?

I have 2 iCloud accounts. 3 devices use one of them as a primary account; my iPhone uses the other as a primary account so I can't stream photos from iPhone etc. What to do?

Sorry, yes indeed you can do that, I thought you wanted to keep the accounts the way they are now and also share photo stream between all devices, which of course is not possible.
In order to login to the account you are currently logged in to as a secondary account, as a primary account, and vice versa, you will need to delete both accounts from that device and then log back into them with the correct account as a primary (settings > iCloud) and the correct account as a secondary (settings > mail, contacts, calendars).

  • How can you restore photo stream photos back to Apple TV after accidentally deleting from your iPad

After accidentally deleting photo stream  photos on my iPad, this deleted photo stream photos on my Apple TV.  How can I restore these photos back to my Apple TV and also to  my iPad?  Suggestions welcomed

If you have a backup of your iPad prior to the date of deleting your photos, you can find them. Otherwise, you might be able to find them.
If you do have this backup, then you'll have to restore your iPad to that point.
If you had a Mac with iPhoto, then when you connected your iPad, iPhoto would store the photos separately from Photostream.
I despise Photostream. It's turned off everywhere on my system. It is one of the most useless pieces of junk that Apple has foisted on my Mac and iOS. But hey, that's just my opinion.

  • Stream photos in the same itunes library used to syinc.

Is there a way to not have photo stream photos save to my iphone?  i have many shared photo streams hoping to not bog down my iphone space.  but alas the photos are are being saved on my iphone.
For example.  When I share a photo stream with my dad and brother and mother all the photos they are putting in the shared photo stream are taking up space on my iphone!  I'll be out of space in no time at this rate.

  • Can I stream photos to a PC from my Mac using Photo Stream on Mac?

Hi, I would like to transfer photos from my Mac to a PC. The photos are not yet on my Mac. I will put them on there after I activate Photo Stream on my Macbook. Is it possible to stream photos from my Mac to a PC if I have Photo Stream activated on my Mac and I download the iCloud Control Panel for PC? Can I get the pictures atuomatically that way or do I have to place them in a special folder? For example, if this is possible and I do upload my pics to my Mac will they immediately stream onto my PC or will they need to be placed in the Photo Stream folder?
Thanks a lot and I hope I can get an answer to my question!

    I quote:
Install the iCloud Control Panel if it isn’t already installed on your computer.
Open the iCloud Control Panel, then turn on Photos. My Photo Stream is set up by default. To turn it off, click Options, then turn off My Photo Stream.
To change the iCloud Photos location on your computer, click Options. Click Change to choose a folder, then click OK.By default, My Photo Stream is in the Pictures\My Pictures\iCloud Photos folder. Photos are automatically downloaded to your Pictures\My Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream folder, and uploaded from the Pictures\My Pictures\iCloud Photos\Uploads folder.
    Click Apply.
After you import photos from a digital camera to the upload folder specified in the iCloud Control Panel, the photos appear automatically in My Photo Stream on your other devices set up with My Photo Stream, including your iOS devices, Mac computers, and Apple TV.

Is there a way I can stop
    this ?
No, Photo Stream is syncing with iCloud. The most recent 1000 photos in iCloud will be buffered on your mac, even if you do not import them to your photo library, if you enable My Photo Stream.
See this link:   iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
iCloud pushes all your photos to the My Photo Stream album on your devices and computers, and manages them efficiently, so you don’t run out of storage space.

  • How do I stream photos from my macbook pro to my tv using apple tv?

In itunes assuming you have Home Sharing turned on then File > Home Sharing > Choose Photos to share with Apple TV

  • How do I stream photo's from my desktop's harddrive (windows 8) to my apple TV?

I am unable to stream photo's from my desktop's harddrive (runs on Windows 8) to my Apple TV.  I turned Sharing on on both devices.  When I go to my apple TV (and my PC is on with Itunes running), and I click the Computer app on apple TV, I can only see my music in my library.  There are no photos or no other folders.

    In itunes
Ctrl B to turn on the top menu. Then
File > Home Sharing > Choose which Photos to sync to apple tv
This pops up a box where you can select Apps or folders to send the photos to Apple TV

  • Photo Stream photos not showing up in Photos Collections

I've noticed on my iPhone 5s, many photos from Photo Stream are not appearing in the "Photos" tab where I can view photos by year, collections, moments, etc.  I have many Photo Stream photos appearing, but it is sporadic.
On my iPad, all Photo Stream photos appear in the Photos tab just fine.
I've attached a screen shot from each of my devices as an example.  Both devices are pulling from the same Photo Stream, so theoretically, they should be showing the same photos.  My iPad shows 10 photos.  My iPhone shows 2 (shows 3 in the screen grab because one is a video).
How can I force the Photos tab to update to reflect all the photos in my Photo Stream?

I FIGURED OUT THE ISSUE.  But no resolution.
It appears that my iPhone 5s's Photos tab only shows Photo Stream photos of photos RECEIVED from other devices, but not Photo Stream photos of photos that ORIGINATED on my iPhone.  Does this make sense?  Here's an example:
    1) Take Photo A on iPhone
    2) Take Photo B on iPad
    3) Allow Photo A and Photo B to upload to Photo Stream
    4) See Photo A and B in Photo Stream on both devices
    5) See Photo A and B in Photos tab on both devices.
    6) Delete the camera roll copy of Photo A from the iPhone.
    7) Photo A is now MISSING from the Photos tab of iPhone, but is still viewable in iPhone Photo Stream
THUS =  Photos tab is not accessing Photo Stream
I can replicate this on my iPad
    4) See Photo A and B in Photo Stream on both devices
    5) See Photo A and B in Photos tab on both devices.
    6) Delete the camera roll copy of Photo B from the iPad.
    7) Photo B is now MISSING from the Photos tab of iPad, but is still viewable in iPad Photo Stream
This appears to be some way to prevent duplications on your local device.  Apple doesn't want you to see the Photo Stream copy and the Camera Roll copy BOTH in the Photos tab.  However, if you delete the Camera Roll copy, the Photo Stream copy DOES NOT appear in the Photos tab.  This is dumb because I delete the Camera Roll copy as soon as it finishes uploading to Photo Stream.  There is no reason to keep both copies on your iOS device.  However, now I can't enjoy the Photo Stream photos in the Photos tab.
