Streaming pictures with iphoto

Hi i run and event photography company where i take photos and sell them on the day, i am looking at a way for the customers to view the images.
I would like to run a mac mini server and allow multiple users to be able view the images on the server, is it possible to stream pictures through apple tv to multiple tvs and allow the images to be viewed.
many thanks and hope that makes sense.
or any other ideas are welcomed

Welcome to the Apple discussion forums.
Yes you could stream the photos to the Apple tv. You would need to add them to iPhoto and following a sync they could be seen on the Apple tv.
The term sync is used here to mean update the library database which takes a few seconds to less than a minute, as a opposed to copying the photos to the Apple tv.

how come when I send a picture with iPhoto email it always send the same picture event when I choose a different picture until I log out from iPhoto

    Why? Because something is wrong.
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Duplicate  pictures with iPhoto

Recently I noticed that my pictures in iPhoto 9.2.2  are in duplicate. Can not figure out why it just started. My first question is: anyone else experiencing that? If so, is there software out there that can look for and delete duplicates? It doesn't seem to effect the pictures streaming to my iPad just on my desktop.
    Thanks for any assistance, Mary

Exactly where are you seeing these "duplicates"?
For safe removal of duplicates Duplicate Annihalitor - http://brattoo.com/propaganda/ - or DeCloner - http://www.pixelespressoapps.com/decloner/ - are good choices

  • IPod photo stream sync with iPhoto

    Hi,
I just synced my iPod photo stream to iPhoto on my laptop, but now I've decided I don't want to have my iPod photos on my laptop, is there a way of reversing this sync??
    Thanks

    Hi Ruby93,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand you no longer want to see your Photo Stream photos on your Apple computer. The attached article explains how to turn on Photo Stream. Where the article explains how to enable Photo Stream, you would do the opposite by unchecking the box.
    iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
    Mac:
Go to Apple () > System Preferences > iCloud.
Select the checkbox for Photos (or Photo Stream).
Click the Options button and make sure that My Photo Stream is selected.
Open the app that you want to use with Photo Stream (iPhoto or Aperture) and make sure that My Photo Stream is turned on in that app. You can also adjust your My Photo Stream settings in iPhoto or Aperture Preferences.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • How do I change the way I get my pictures with iPhoto?

    Hi everyone,
Currently i plug in my Canon Powershot SD550 camera and iPhoto opens, i can download the pictures into iPhoto directly from there. i assume it was a setting I made when i first got the new computer and I dont know how to turn it off.
However, I want to plug the camera in and move the photos from the camera to a folder on my desktop so I can name them and so on.
I will import them to iPhoto from the folder afterward.
thanks for any help you can provide

iPhoto menu ==> General ==> Connecting Camera opens ==> no application
Then you can go to the finder and copy the images to a folder and prepare them for importing into iPhoto

  • How to delete pictures with iPhoto off your camera roll?

I bought iphoto to help me organize pictures on my Ipad and Iphone.  I especially like the idea of being able to compair two or more similar pictures and save the best photo and delete the copies that weren't as good.  I liked this feature but then discovered that it was not deleting the pictures off the camera roll.
I would love someone to tell me how to delete pictures in iphoto so they are removed from my Camera Roll at the same time.  Being able to look at two pictures at the same time and decide which one you want to keep is great, but if I can't delete the one I don't want it is a waste of time.

    Titan2,
Thanks for the reply,  I agree that the Iphoto needs to be the stock app.  Hope it isn't too long.
    Ralph,
I agree that the iphoto for the ipad might not be the best place to organize, but when you are retired and traveling you would like to select the pictures you want to keep and not wait until you get home.  The camera roll doesn't let you compair two or more photos to see which one is best,  Iphoto does but I want the poorer photos off the ipad so I don't have to wait until I get home and I want to use the memory for the best photos.   I'm trying to figure out a round about way so I know which ones to delete on the camera roll.
I thank both of you for your comments.

  • Loss of pictures with Iphoto 11

    Hi,
I have updated iphoto up to iphoto 11. So far, it worked until yesterday, where 75 % of my pictures have suddenly disappeared whils there are still here. On the event page, I can see all events (the ones saved in my Time Capsule, but also, strangely, the ones saved in another Time Capsule I have.... 10 000 km from where I live now).
The number of pictures by event still appears and when moving the pointer, I can still see them all. But when I open the event, there is no picture and on the right top corner it is written "no photo"...
Of course, I would like to be able to see all my pictures again.
I'm absolutely not very good with this computer stuff, and maybe what is the reason why I have a Mac, which apparently, I could have trusted until now. So please, if you have the solution to this problem, would you mind explaining me just like if I was 5 year-old. Surely, I won't be offended but very thankful.
    Thanks
    Jacques

Are you running a Managed or Referenced library?  Managed is the default and preferred method:
If you're running a Managed library try the following:  make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Viewing Pictures with iPhoto from an External Drive

Hi... My wife and I share the same computer and we both have a lot of photos stored on our machine. My wife has a magnitude of more pictures than I do. I tried to search for this, but I wasn't having any luck finding it. Maybe I wasn't using the correct key words. Anyway......
Is it possible to save photos imported into iPhoto to an external drive that you can connect to later and view again using iPhoto? Our hard drive is getting loaded down with photos and I would like to have another place to store the photos. Besides, I would like to keep a good copy in our fireproof safe as a backup at the least.
    Thanks,
    Jim

Yes, you can move a Library to an external drive. Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • I have lost most of my pictures with iphoto 11. What should I do to find the thousands of missing photos ?, I have lost most of my pictures with iphoto 11. What should I do to find the thousands of missing photos ?

Well everyhting is in the title. I am extremely bad in computing. So if someone can answer, I won't be offended if you can explain like if I were a 5 yo child. a big thank you

Right click and "Show Package Contents" on your iPhoto Library file, it's actually a folder and inside is a folder called Originals, use the Finder to Duplicate that and move OriginalsCopy out to a safe place..
Rebuild the iPhoto database, see if that corrects your problem.

  • Photo Stream with iPhoto '11

How does Photo Stream work with iPhoto? I have my iPhone set to up load photos to Photo Stream. Is it technically in the cloud?
I want to disable the option of my iPhone for now. I am worried if I do so, will it delete the photos and if so, from where?
Currently, the photos in the Photo Stream do appear in the iPhoto app on my iMac but under Photo Stream tab. How do I imported the images from the Photo Stream to my iPhoto library?

Select the photos in the iCloud section of iPhoto and right click - select import to library
For the future you can set the iCloud preference in the  iPhoto preferences to automatically import new photos form PS - of you can manually import as above
Once the photo is imported to iphoto it is not deleted from the Mac when you delete from PS - it will be the the MMMYYYY Photo Stream event

  • Using GPS devices to automatically tag pictures in iphoto library

    Hi there,
I like taking pictures and I have a nice little GPS device for mountainbiking etc.
With the Geotaggig feature announced, I made sure, that I had the GPS running and logging most of the time when taking pictures during my vacation, so that I could automatically geotag my pictures (900 pictures...).
I have done this successfully with GPSPhotoLinker - a very nice and recommendable tool, and I guess there is others. Unfortunately I found GPSPhotoLinker after I imported all the pictures into iPhoto library.
Now - all my pictures are in iPhoto already, I have made albums and presentations, etc. - and hoped, that I could geotag all the pictures with iPhoto 09. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be possible.
Is there any way to geotag pictures, that are already in iPhoto library? Or do I have to reimport all the pictures? Is it a possibility to go back to the state of my mac before I installed iPhoto, geotag the pictures IN the iPhoto library and then install iPhoto09? iPhoto09 checked all the pictures in the library - I guess it checked for geotags? Is there a way of rechecking/rebuilding the complete library? And if there is - where exactly should I try to insert the location information with GPSPhotoLinker or similar?
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance ;o)
    Rudolf

But having the data in a library opposed to having it in EXIF fields does not necessarily mean, that the data cannot be changed. There are a lot of smart people in this world, that know how to use data bases ;o)
    True
But this is a users forum and all we can do is try to help with what is there - no one here can change anything
Is the data model of iPhoto public, so that someone could write his own software to modify the data?
I have no idea - some folks have done some things successfully - I'm sure it is possible - just needs some one - Apple or third party to do it - the guy that did HoudahGeo - http://www.houdah.com/houdahGeo/ - probably would be the best candidate if someoneknow him or has contact with him
Well, I guess I will have to reimport all the pictures. If I still have the original pictures somewhere else, it does not make sense to first export and then reimport them, right? My album and slide show information will be lost anyways?
Going back to the originals works and saves the export step
Another idea is to go through your 900 photos and using Places to code them in to larger groups - I would think that setting the location for 50 or so groups would accomplish your plan - you probably do not need exact locations for each photo - just the general track yo took

  • Taking pictures on iPhoto 08

I'm rather new to the Mac world and I want to take pictures but i don't know how to take them in iPhoto. It's probably a very easy task but I'm completely lost here. Help me please.

    Daniel:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You don't take pictures with iPhoto. iPhoto is an visual database application that assembles the image files that you take with a camera or get from other sources and arranges them in time based events, allows you to edit and print.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I'd suggest to ask them to create Shared PhotoStreams and to invite you to view the streams, see:

Will you be collecting the photos in iPhoto on your iPhone or on a Mac? On a Mac a Shared PhotoStream requires Mac OS X 10.8.2.
