Streaming Podcast Interupt 8530

Hi Again,
I was using my 8530 to stream a podcast in mp3 format.
It was working great until and email and then a twitter notification etc. event happened.
Everytime the streaming podcast would start at the very beginning.
I ended up downloading it to listen to it later.
However I don't see a way to make a  setting so that those notifications won't interupt the stream.
Or is there a way??
Thanks
Robert

Tiki,
iTunes does not stream. When you load a link to iTunes, your material has to be accessible to the internet. So when someone chooses to download the podcast, they are directed to your server and downloads from there. Podcasts by nature are not streaming videos.
Consider creating a streaming video and using streaming server service for customers to access. Your server will stream the material for them.
Hope this clears up streaming video vs podcast.

  • How to *stream* podcasts on iPad with iOS6.1?

I've just updated to iOS6.1 and am wanting to use my iPad as my music center.  It sits on my desk right next to me all day, connected over Wifi, so I have no concerns about data usage.
I simply want to be able to stream a podcast.  Note that I do not want to DOWNLOAD these podcasts to my iPad in advance, or sync them via iTunes, etc.  I simply want to hit play on them and have them start streaming, just like if I hit play on them from iTunes on my computer.
I can't seem to figure out if this is even possible.  In the process, I have deleted the Podcasts app.  This has brought podcast support back in the Music app again, but ONLY for my shared library on my iMac.  This makes running Music on the iPad pretty pointless since I still have to have iTunes running on the iMac as well.
How can I get Music to stream  podcasts without having to sync & download them to the device first?  This seems like a pretty basic thing since it's fundamentally the way podcasts work in iTunes.
I did try syncing a playlist full of podcasts to the iPad, thinking that maybe then the iPad would stream those podcasts... but the playlist comes into the iPad completely empty, not a song in it.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Um, where did I say iOS was useless?  Any particular reason you're attributing a quote to me that I never said?  Also I did not make any conclusions, I asked two questions.  It may behoove you to learn the difference.  Since you're going to be snarky, I will in my response as well.
    Specifically, I asked:
"Are iOS devices useless as podcast streamers unless..."
To further clarify since you don't seem to follow the logic here:
If an iOS device can not stream a podcast that was added via iTunes, then
If the user (that would be me) does not wish to have to find their podcasts all over again within the Podcast app, then
iOS devices are useless as podcast streamers unless you find the podcast from within the iOS device itself.
This is pretty basic logic.  I am in no way suggesting that iOS is useless, or that iOS devices themselves are useless.  My statement was quite specific as to the exact conditions under which they appear to be useless, and so far nobody has shown this logic to be incorrect.  I welcome showing me that the logic is incorrect by explaining how exactly I can stream the podcasts that are already in my iTunes playlists from my iPad.
I will take a look at Stitcher radio and see if it can play my existing podcasts in iTunes.  Adding podcasts to the Podcast page in iTunes is no help because that does exactly what I want to avoid - copying the actual Podcast media to the device.  This would exceed the capacity of the iPad (64G model) by at least 10x.

  • ITunes App crashes when streaming podcasts

    Hi,
When I stream podcasts from the iTunes app, sometimes it works fine, but most of the time, iTunes will either close all together, or close out of the stream. I will sometimes have to click to start the stream 4 or 5 times before it will actually play. It has been this way with every OS I have had installed on my phone.
    Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I should clarify--I'm not trying to stream, per se, but rather my entire music collection is on a NAS. In the past I've added all this music to my itunes library so I can sync with iphone, etc. It's sometimes slow, mostly because of the ridiculous "gapless playback" check, but usable. Itunes 10 is completely worthless--couldn't even get the library loaded without an eternal spinning ball. If anyone else has had this issue and has updated to 10.01 successfully, please let me know. I don't want to go through rebuilding my library again if the update doesn't work.

  • Podcasts And Streamed Podcasts

    Has anyone else experienced this?
I have the Apple TV (obviously), and have it synced to my iMac, and have it set to stream from my wife's MAC mini.
When I am watching a Podcast, and, it plays all the way through, I have it set to automatically delete. sometimes (not all of the time), as soon as the Podcast deletes, it automatically jumps to my wife's streamed podcasts. I then have to go to "podcasts>my podcasts" to see my list again. It is as if I hit the "Shared Podcasts" button to see hers. But, it happens as soon as it deletes one of mine (hope I am explaining this clearly enough)
This happened about 2 or 3 times so far since the new update.
    Anyone else seeing this?

Thank you for your response Winston.
To answer your question I did another factory reset, update and re-sync followed by some more testing.
Today I got these results with an almost-2 hour podcast synced to the device:
    15min: 5 seconds
    30min: 11 seconds
    60min: 22 seconds
    90min: 32 seconds
    115min: 41 seconds
So, it looks like I overstated the delay but these are still significant, especially when you are trying to skip forward or find a place in the podcast.
As it happens, this time when I changed the device into streaming mode there were no delays. This isn't very convenient as the computer needs to be running the whole time but it's better than the alternative.
I'd still like to use the device synced so if anyone has further ideas or comments they would be appreciated.

  • What do you use to listen to streams / podcasts / last.fm ?

I'm looking for a way to manage my stream, podcast and last.fm music listening, preferably through a single  ncurses or a GTK based interface. I'm still using BMPx which is a buggy, no longer maintained resource hog but has some features that I really like such as:
    - uncluttered intuitive interface
    - Last.fm tag cloud, similar artists, album art, quickly look up artist info on the web
    - easy way for searching and filtering shoutcast and icecast streams
    What do you use?

    Great guestion mate!
I use smartphone LG Spirit 4G for Netflix and Spotify on the go with Sennheiser CX2.00G earphones. Great sound, really stunning bass and vocals on these. Pleased everytime to hear every detail outside home no matter music or series/movies. 4.7" screen.
At home I will try to use for music Pioneer SMA1 again, as finally I can remote it with new phone without problems. Cheap phone was freezing on app all the time. For series/movies I have Philips 42PFL5008T 42" Smart-TV. I remote Netflix and YouTube app now using my phone - as it never freezes now. Old was unable to remote well, as it was cheap.
On laptop I do everything else. Since laptop is Ubuntu, Netflix will not work and Spotify app is no-needed and hard to install, web player low quality. Laptop is for forums, surfing, blogging etc.

  • HT5295 Is there a way to disable autoplay or limit it to downloaded podcast? Otherwise, one ends up streaming podcasts over 3G unnecessarily...

Is there a way to disable autoplay or limit it to downloaded podcast? Otherwise, one ends up streaming podcasts over 3G unnecessarily...

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Problem streaming podcast to iPhone/iPad

Some of the listeners of my podcast (http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/instaflicka-podcast/id373911029)have been complaining that they are not able to stream it to the iPhone or iPad recently. They don't seem to have problems streaming other podcasts, just mine. I set it up with iTunes following all of the steps provided there and syndicate it using FeedBurner. Is there something else I need to be doing to resolve this issue?

I have the same problem. Have you found a solution? Thanks.

  • Streamed podcasts, itunes to ipod nano

can you record a streamed download onto itunes in order to sync it to ipod nano

When you subscribe to a podcast in iTunes you can download it (click the down-arrow-in-a-cloud icon) and then transfer it to your iPod.
Where sites other than iTunes offer streaming you can't usually download these.

  • Crash while streaming podcast

The iPod software crashes within a minute of streaming a podcast after I click "Get More Episodes..." and select an episode.
    Here are two other observations:
There is no crash if I click the "Free" button and download the podcast before playing it.
However, I still get the crash if I click the pause button and allowing the entire episode to cache before actually playing the episode. In that case the crash happens while playing the podcast not during the caching. Strange, huh.
This is on an original iPhone 2G running v3.0

  • Streaming podcast

Hi is there a way for itunes to stream a podcast? I have users on older model blackberrys that don't have it in their plans to allow them to download a 10mb file. Is there a way to set up itunes or my podcast to allow streaming through my itunes?
    thanks

  • Streaming podcast/download issue

I am having issues streaming a podcast on my phone. The website uses a Flashplayer interface and I understand that is not available with the newer software. However I used to be able to download to the phone and listen that way. Now I can not download using Firefox and when I try to using the phone's browser I can download the file but when I try to play it it says the file can not be played in either Google Play Music or by the My Music feature. The website has not changed file formats so the issue is definitely with the phone. Any help would be appreciated.

The feed for this podcast is at http://www.kfiam640.com/podcast/BillHandel.xml
The latest episode in the feed is 'Handel on the News (10/25) and this shows in the Store. However when subscribing no episodes show at all. This is because there is at least one fatal error in the feed, which either is affecting subscribing but not the Store, or was introduces since the Store last checked the feed.
    FeedValidator says
'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xe9 in position 13709: invalid continuation byte (maybe a high-bit character?)'
This generally means that the originator has pasted some text in from a word processor and has incuded a 'curly quote' instead of a straight typewriter-style quote, or some other character (even an invisible line return) which XML won't handle. He's going to have to go through the feed looking for it.
Also, the second line in the feed reads
    <rss version="2.0" xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/DTDs/Podcast-1.0.dtd" >
which is wrong: it should be
    <rss xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
Because of this error iTunes cannot read any of the 'itunes' tags such as 'itunes:subtitle' and 'itunes:summary'. There are various other errors listed in the FeedValidator report; but basically the error I first mentioned is the one which is wrecking the feed.

  • QuickTime player doesn't launch when streaming podcast

When I stream a podcast through iTunes, the QuickTime player doesn't launch. Instead, the podcast plays through the iTunes browser. The problem is that you can't multitask or even pause the podcast without it starting over. Is this a bug or "new feature"?

Yeah a lot of people are having this problem now:

  • Trying to put an mpeg audio streaming 'podcast' on my iPod

Hi-I have a 5 part interview that is in iTunes that I want on my iPod to listen to in my car. It says it's an mpeg audio stream format. I have done all that I can think of to get it to my iPod but it just won't sync. If I Get Info on it, I selected the Media Kind as podcast, it's in my podcast list under Library; it's in my smart playlist (called News Shows) but it won't sync over to the News Shows on my iPod! In editing my smart playlist, I put in the artist name and album name (it is the info I entered in). No go. I don't know what I am doing wrong but I have wasted far too much time trying to get it sync over. There must be a way. Surely. Hopefully someone out there will have an answer for me! Thanks, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all, Judy

If it's a stream, you can't sync it to your iPod as it's not physically on your computer. You'd need to actually download it. It sounds as if what you have in your library is a link to the stream.
Where did it come from? Can you check the site to see if they offer an .mp3 or .aac download?

  • Homeshare won't stream podcasts to AppleTV

I just updated AppleTV to 4.4.2(3160) and now none of my podcasts from my office computer's "library" will stream to the AppleTV. Instead all I get is the spinning timer ball. Netflix, Photostream and music all work fine. I CAN go to the podcast section under "Internet" but it will not homeshare podcasts from the library. Infact I can actually see all the items in the "library" but when you try and play them it will just show the spinning timer ball for hrs.

There is an issue with Webroot's InternetSecurity Essentials!! The DEFAULT settings in the firewall prevent the streaming of podcasts from iTunes to AppleTV via Home Share.
Immediately after selecting "Allow All Traffic" under Webroot Security Essential's Firewall, podcasts began to stream.
After requesting help from Webroot they suggested (via form letter email) to re-install the software. They seem to not be able to understand what default means. Re-installing just puts the default settings right back on the system. Their support is awful.
I still have no solution for the correct or allowable settings for the firewall.
Firewall currently shows the following allowed communication in reference to Apple...
    iCloud
    iTunes
    Bonjour
    AppleMobile helper
    AppleUpdate
