Streaming slows from Computer

Hi,
I have an ATV3 and I try to stream all of my movies from my iMac to the ATV as my internet is too slow to stream at a decent quality.
My question/issue is this. When streaming HD 1080p content, when the stream is approximately half way through it will suddenly slow down until the point where the video catches up to the buffering and then is too slow to continue. I then have to reset the ATV and re-start the movie from where it ended and it will continue (generally until the movie has ended). This happens all the time.
Can someone please advise as to why the Apple TV will suddenly start streaming video slowly after it has started immediately and streams at a more than necessary rate (half of movie can be buffered within 10mins) to begin with?
I am running a Wireless N router that is definitely fast enough (as it buffers the movie a lot faster than I can watch it to begin with). If you do think it could be a router issue (unlikely, as restarting the ATV fixes the issue, but I guess it is possible) would you be able to offer advise?
Any help would be appreciated as it is very annoying having to re-start films half way through.
Kind Regards,
Sam

I have the exact same problem and the only change I have performed is an upgrade to the latest version of ATV.
This problem affects both ver 2 and 3 of ATV.
I do hope the upcoming 6.1 update fixes this.

I don't want to set up and pay for iTunes Match. How can I get back to the pre-Match system which let me just use home sharing to stream music from computer to Aple TV

    Ditto.
You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

  • How to stream music from computer to UPnP device

I recently purchased a digital radio which is UPnP compliant.  I can stream music from my Macbook laptop using ElgatoEye Connect but this won't run on my old G5 iMac where all my music is stored. It is not convenient to use a laptop all the time.  What software can I use that will run on my pre Intel computer?

The app I use for this is called Zumocast. Search for it on iTunes or in the App Store. It will stream music, video, and other files such as documents from your PC to your iPod via the Internet. It works great, I streamed a movie last night in fact.

  • Streaming pictures from computer directly to Apple TV

Can I show pictures on my Apple TV (latest version) directly from my computer without using iCloud. I hear that iTunes let's one do this but there seems to be no way I can find out how to do this with the latest version of ITunes. This is so disappointing as it takes forever to download them via iCloud.
    Thanks for your help.

Can I put an additional question here?
Is there any limit no. of pictures in folder that can be used for Screen Saver in ATV?
I have a folder with 4000+ pictures, and everytime when the Screen Saver is on, only a small percentage of pictures was shown and most of them are repeated.

  • Record Streaming Video from Computer

I need to "capture" streaming video that plays on a computer.
I can't seperate out the file, just need to record as it plays. If
Captivate can't do it, does anyone know of another program that
    can?
    Thanks much!

I have had this problem with TechSmith's software as well.
Try turning off video hardware acceleration.
Also, make sure you don't move anything once you've begun.
Oddly, even screen recordings made with TechSmith's Morae recording .NET 3 applicaitons can lose the content and present a black screen.
    Here's the drill:
        Record a software interaction.
Edit and export video. (If you move the editing window, the recorded image seems to stay where it was, but becomes invisible. Sort of like sliding a cropping guide off a picture and onto a table.)
Launch video player and play recording
        Move video player.
Recording disappears until you put player back where it was.
I've had similar problems with Camtasia and SnagIt.

  • Changes to NOTES works very slow from computer to iPhone

The synching of changed and changed notes on computers (iMacs and one MBA) are very slow, and took nearly one hour today - before the changed notes showed up on the iPhone.
Interestingly: on at least one of the notes, I was able to read the first line of the changed note in the "name" field of that note, but when opening the note, it showed the content before the change! Somehow some of the changes are more or less pushed to the iPhone, but does not seem to change the note itself.
Checked MobileMe services and notes synching to the cloud:
    1) MobileMe services appear to be working: "All MobileMe services are online".
    2) Changes to notes on computer is immediately reflected in MobileMe cloud notes.
    3) Changes to MobileMe (the cloud) is not reflected on the iPhone or takes loooong time to show up - i.e.g more than 30-40 minutes, even if I refresh notes and mail accounts.
    4) Turning of the iPhone and turning it on again (take 2-3 minutes) does not make any difference (i.e. update the modified notes) - howver, I can se that some changes to other notes are updated (a "to-do" mark inserted in another note).

  • Can't get rid of photo album from computer

My phone has a photo stream album from computer that I cannot get rid of.  I have removed the folder containing the photos from my computer.  Removed all backups in itunes.  The box in the itunes sync for photos has never been checked.  I have syncd several times and cannot get rid of the album from the iphone.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Create and sync an empty folder to your phone as I expained in your other post hereI have an album on my iPhone 4 called "Photo Stream, From My Computer." And i have no way of deleting any picture in that album or deleting the album. I have searched around forever and found nothing that worked. Please help! (I run iOS 7) .  That will remove any orphaned albums previously synced to your phone.

  • Streaming videos from iPhone 4s via AirPlay is very slow

. I took a few videos with my iPhone 4S when I was on vacation. When I try to stream them from my iPhone to my Apple TV, it buffers extremely slowly. However, when I stream videos from my MacBook Pro to my Apple TV, it buffers very quickly and plays very quickly. Based on that, I'm assuming that there's nothing wrong with my wireless network. So my question is, what could be wrong with my iPhone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ok so I've been doing more testing. It's all videos on the iTunes store. Anytime I try to download a podcast or stream it or anything it's super slow. To download an episode of Diggnation it tells me over 2 hours to download but the time keeps climbing and I just stop the transfer.
Some people said it's an Open DNS thing? Maybe it is but it's not computer specific and I couldn't find a way to change the DNS settings in my Airport, only on each computer. I tried deleting PLists and restoring my Apple TV and restoring my Airport and nothing is working.
I don't know if it an issue with me, my ISP or Apple. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

  • HT201317 Photo Stream really slow from Iphone???

Photo Stream moving really slow from Iphone.  Took 12 hours for one photo to move from cameral roll to photo stream and then several hours for it to move to computer.

You can't automatically "push" the photo stream photos from your iPad photo stream folder back to your photo stream.  You have to get copies of these photos to your iPad's camera roll as new photos for them to be uploaded to your photo stream.  There are a couple of ways to do this:
Open the photos one at a time on your iPad and take a screenshot.  This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream.
Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll.  This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream.
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer full resolution copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once.  Once on your computer you then have to delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll again.  These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream.  (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.)

  • HT1657 Can I stream a rented movie from computer to tv?

Can I stream a rented movie from computer to tv?

If you have an Apple TV, you can move the rented movie there to watch it. There is no way I know of to do a true stream of a movie rented from the iTunes Store, nor can a movie from there be played on anything other than an Apple device or in Apple's software.
    Regards.

  • Just bought an apple tv and it wont stream music from my imac. when i click on the apple tv music icon it goes straight into the itunes store and so i can only access the music i have bought from itunes not the music i have stored in itunes on my computer

i just bought an apple tv and it wont stream music from my imac. when i click on the apple tv music icon it accesses the itunes store and brings up only that music i have purchased from apple instead of all the music i have stored in itunes on my imac.

The music icon will only access your purchased music. You need to go to the computer icon. It must be on and running iTunes, and home-sharing enabled in order for it to be accessible to Apple TV

  • EA6300 cannot video stream from computer to Ipad on my local networt

I was previously using Video Stream (from Connect3) to stream videos from my computer to my Ipad with no problem. I was using a WRT400n and now have upgraded to the EA6300. Now my Ipad can no longer acces the server on the computer. I tried port forwarding but that didn't work. I assume that some setting(s) on the router is blocking it. The computer is connected to the network using usb wireless. It was connected via cable when using the 400n.
Computer IP 192.168.1.118, ipad IP 192.168.1.40. Does anyone have any idea why the Ipad and computer cannot connect?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Are you able to stream videos to ipad if you connect the pc to router using ethernet only? It may need driver update if it works fine when the pc is directly connected to router using ethernet.
I can see that your router detected the ipad twice in the device list. In this case, try turning off your ipad. Once it is offline, remove it from the device list. Turn it back on, then go to connectivity and select local network. Click on DHCP reservation and reserve the ip address of the ipad. Check is streaming works after that.
You may also need to check if the router's firmware version is up to date. In the Connectivity>Basic tab, click on check for updates button. Proceed with the update if it prompts for it.
Another cause of this issue could be your Video Stream app. Try uninstalling/reinstalling this app or you may also try other video streaming apps like twonky.

Is it possible to stream audio from a non-Itunes program on a computer (say, a website, Youtube, etc...) to Airplay speakers?

When you set up the new Mac, you can use Migration Assistant to transfer both from your iMac and your external drives.  You can also use Target Disk Mode to drag over the things you want.

  • Can I stream music from my computer other than through iTunes?

2nd question on my new Airport Express: can I only send music from my computer to the hifi using AX through iTunes - or is there some other way I can stream music from the internet whilst it's playing on my computer?
If I can't do that, all I could do would be to record it (using Audio Hijack or iRecordMusic) and then play it via iTunes, but that meant I couldn't listen to it directly.

    yes.
in order to do that, you need Airfoil.

  • TS2972 I am having problems streaming content from iTunes on my computer to the Apple TV.

I cannot stream content from iTunes on my computer to my Apple TV (latest model).
I have checked the following -
    iTunes Version 11.1.5.5
No Windows updates outstanding for the computer
Home Sharing is turned on in both iTunes and the Apple TV
The wireless network appears to be OK
iTunes connects to the Store so the computer is OK
the Apple TV connects to external content - You Tube etc
I have opened up TCP/IP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 in the McAfee Firewall
When I turn on the Apple TV and check the Computer Icon, I get the following message -
"To access your iTunes library on Apple TV, turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer using "..the Apple ID...".
    Where to next?
    Voyager999

Well, after 1 hour of phone support and 90 minutes of on-line support, McAfee finally resolved the problem.
If anyone else has a similar problem, tell McAfee to look at Service Request 1443603280.
