Streaming through Apple tv

Hi folks
Just wondering is it possible for apple tv to stream live feeds and movies that are not on itunes directly? Or should I just buy the cables to connect to my hdtv as an alternate set up to itunes for this purpose?

No it can only play media from iTunes, or access certain predefined areas like YouTube, MobileMe, Flickr and iTunes radio stations.
It does not have a browser or capability to access specific sites you specify.
While it could do these things in theory, it doesn't, and connecting a computer to TV would give better all round functionality if you need this kind of stuff though the interface won't be as elegant.

You can't change the location of the media folder from a script, neither can you change which library file is opened. I assume your script simply copies the current master library into the normal location for the file on each client machine. Do you not get a file locked error? What about the other library files and the Album Artwork cache?
Your scheme may work best if you use a common drive letter for your media folder and have it so the media folder is not inside the master library folder. E.g.
Master library folder at X:\iTunes
Master media folder at X:\iTunes Media
Where all the computers see drive X: as the same object, be it the whole of that drive or a shared folder on it.
If you have the typical arrangement (iTunes Media inside iTunes) then when you copy the library from X:\iTunes into C:\....\iTunes and start iTunes it will attempt to "correct" for the fact that you've apparently moved the library and reset the library folder to C:\....\iTunes\iTunes Media. It should still be able to find the media at the correct location, but if you accidentally load anything up from a client machine it will end up in a local folder.
If you are not already familiar with it iTunes Folder Watch will be a useful tool for catching up with any additions made on the client computers. You should probably also ensure that each of the clients has the "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" option disabled.

How to eliminate subtitles when streaming Netflix through Apple TV?

When streaming movies from Netflix through Apple TV, sub-titles appeared and we canot find a menu or symbol to click to eliminate the sub titles. They carry over to our next item. How can I eliminate the sub titles. (This is only a problem with Apple TV. Able to eliminate them on computer or I Pad.

Push and hold the menu button while the content is playing. It will bring up a menu for captioning if the content has an option to chang it.

I use Keynote and Apple TV to stream my Keynote presentations at work and the Picture does not look great and does not put the presetation in widscreen mode. Would the Apple Digital Av adapter fix that?

The size on the screen should remain, but the quality should be better.

Streaming photos through Apple TV2

Hi,I am able to get audio from Macbook through Apple TV but not photos. Whilst audio will go through and play, the ATV2 will not recognise photo or audio library even though both Macbook and AppleTV are addressed alike. I have selected photo albums and all appears ok -- any ideas??s .

All used to work well but not I cannot see any photos from iphoto on my Apple tv 2. I have home sharing on in both devices and as well I have selected "photos to share" in my imac itunes; interestingly enough is only iphotos that would not show; if i select "aperture" as the source then those will appear. Also of interest is that I can stream from itunes on my imac, music and videos but not photos!
I have restored my apple tv2 to try and solve the problem but it sound like maybe iphoto is the problem?

It depends on the app. I believe (from memory) HBO GO and Netflix do work. They don't mind seeing as how you are a paid subscriber but others I know Cinemax GO (which is the same app as HBO GO gives a message saying it does not have the functionality) Most likely it's a licensing issue between the app creator and the movie/tv studios. It's not a glitch I know that much. It's dependant upon the contract between the provider and the studios.

TS2972 Music played through Apple TV the streaming is really slow & jumpy

I have just installed a new Apple TV & have my music library loaded in iTunes library on a new MacBook Pro. However, when I try to play music track through Apple TV the streaming is frustratingly slow and track often jams after a few seconds and/or become really jumpy etc. The wireless connection appears to be strong enough - showing full bars in the wireless icon on laptop. But the apple TV signal only shows 2/3 bars out of 5.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix? Do I need to compress the music files (from downloaded CD's) into a smaller file size or different format? I notice that music that I've downloaded from iTunes store seem to stream & play without any problem.
Meanwhile the photo library loading is also painfully slow through Apple TV - assume this is due the same problem?

Welcome to the Apple community.
You need to get your network working better than it is.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

Your iPod Touch can perfor Airplay streaming of pre-rendered compatible video but cannot perform Airplay mirroring of the Touch's screen (5th gen needed).

Is there a way I can store presentations on a mac to stream to apple tv and control from an iPad without storing presentation on iPad at any time or connecting to the internet; i.e. just through local wifi network?

I am looking at setting up a Local Wifi Network using a Mac and Airport Extreme.
I wish to store presentations on the Mac.
I wish to teach from the presentations through Apple TVs in my classrooms using IPad to control presentation, annotate etc
I don't want to have to upload presentation to iPad from Mac as this will be in server room.
I don't want to access internet so iCloud Drive is out of the question.
What options do I have?

You would need to find an app that lets you remotely access the Mac (e.g. Logmein). You would need to be aware of how much the network can handle.
