Streaming video from Macbook Pro to 46 inch LCD

I am trying to stream video from my 13 inch Macbook Pro to my 46 inch Samsung LCD TV. I am using a HDMI cable to a DVI cable to attach the computer. When I play videos from iTunes, the picture looks great, however when I am streaming video from an internet site such as Netflix, the picture is not great (it almost looks pixilated). I am wondering, is this an issue with my computer (video card, etc) or does it have to do with my internet connection (I currently have the lower DSL connection)? Is there any other way to make the picture look better? Thanks for your help.

  • Streaming video from macbook pro to apple tv

Hello, I understand that you can use airdisplay to stream the whole desktop view to the apple tv. However, I've found that its extremely laggy when I play videos that way. When I do, the video and sound is always off by a second. When I stream using my ipad or iphone to play videos that never happens and runs perfectly. Is there a way to just stream videos from sites like youtube for the mac like the iphone and ipad?

  • Transfer video from macbook pro to iPhone iOS 8

how to transfer video from macbook pro to iphone 5S IOS 8, anyone?

    Hi hjmdsalleh,
You typically use iTunes to sync your content to your iPhone.
iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes
If you are having problems syncing some videos, they may not be in the correct format.
iTunes: Videos may be unable to sync to iPhone, iPad, or iPod

  • Stream sound from Macbook Pro to another device?

So my headphone jack just half-died on me. I get full sound from the right ear, but the left one has little to no sound coming through. I've had headphone jack issues in the past with my macbook pro and they said I needed to replace the entire motherboard last time which was extremely expensive. My warranty has run out so doing that again would not be feasible, yet I really need the headphone jack to be working since much of my work is video/audio intensive. Is there any way I could stream audio to another device like my phone or something via bluetooth and plug headphones into that to get full sound in both ears? Or is there a fix to this issue that I don't know about? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Macbook Pro 13-inch (early 2010)
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    10 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

You can stream audio via airtunes to an Airport express which has an analogue ouput jack, but it's line level and doesn't have a volume control, but you can use it as the source for a hifi.  You can get third party powered speakers which receive airtunes.  You can stream audio and video to an Apple TV but it only has an optical Tosslink audio out and audio and video out via hdmi.
You can also get sound out via USB to a an offboard D/A converter which in most cases would be line-level, though you could likely find asomething with a headphone output with a volume control.
If you look up the specs on your machine you might also find you have digital audio out via tosslink and the headphone jack which is misbehaving as the ports are combined on some models.  Then there is the mini display port which can in some cases output both sound and audio and you can get a long display port to hdmi cable a lot cheaper than an ATV.
But, while the headphone jack replacement involves a motherboard swap, in reality, what might have happened is that a solder joint for the socket on the motherbord has failed and simply resoldering the joint would fix the issue.  If the internals of the socket like a contact breaking or being damaged is the problem then the MB would likely need replacing given the cost of labour for a tech to source and replace the whole socket.

  • Stream dvd from macbook pro late 2013 to tv

Can I stream a dvd from my macbook pro using usb superdrive to tv?  I have a thunderbolt to usb connector.  What else do i need?

    Hello janet159,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact configuration you are describing. If you are able to play a DVD on your MacBook Pro using the external SuperDrive, you most likely should be able to play it on your TV by connecting your MacBook Pro to your TV via HDMI, as noted in this article:
Note: DVD Player does not support playback using AirPlay Mirroring. If you want to watch your DVD on an HDTV, connect your Mac to your TV using an HDMI cable or a video adapter.

  • Stream audio from macbook pro to tv

I'm using a MacBook Pro 8.2 and want to stream video to à Sony Bravia TV. I've connected them with à cable from the Thunderbolt port to the HDMI port on the TV. I get the video images but no sound. Is there à way to do this or do I need à separate audio cable?

There is great risk of confusion since I am seeing the words in Swedish and it is sometimes difficult to tell what the translation should be, but here goes:
In the System Report there is only one topic with the word sound: "Sound (built-in)"
Under that topic it says "Intel HD Sound" and I can choose a nummer of options, but only one for "Speakers" and it says "Connection: internal"
There is also an option for "HDMI/DisplayPort" which says "Connection: screen" (or monitor)

  • Streaming Netflix from Macbook Pro to TV

    Hello,
I would like to stream movies from Netflix on the Macbook Pro to my TV. I bought a Moshi Mini Displayport to HDMI Adapter and plugged into the laptop. I then removed the HDMI cable from my DVD player and plugged it into the adapter. I followed the directions in the set up guide to go to "Sound" in System Preferences to change output to "Built in HDMI Output", but nothing appears and I can't stream on to my tv. Any ideas how to stream or what I might be doing wrong?
    Thanks.
    lsb

This may be a bit off your topic... I cannot get Netflix to stream any video. I have installed Silverlight and for some reason it keeps telling me to install it. Did you have any trouble with the installation of Silverlight? I have also purchased the cable, but I am still stuck on getting it installed...

  • How to stream content from Macbook Pro to Samsung SmartTV

How can I view photos from iPhoto on my Macbook Pro on my Samsung SmartTV?  Samsung offers software only for PCs.

If you have satellite/cable TV and your box has an ethernet port and you have a DVR it's also possible to stream content from your Mac to a tv.

  • Issues with exporting video from MacBook Pro to flash drive

I cannot sucessfully transfer [export] video taken on my gopro camera, from my MacBook Pro to any flash drive and play them on other computers.  For some reason the files are not playable, even with quicktime.  They will not play with ANY of my video softwares such as divx or any AVCHD software on a windows computer.  I need to make a presentation for a club trip in a few days! Can any one please suggest what is wrong?  They play on the Mac using Flip player but not quicktime!
Oh, and I don't have issues with transfering or exporting Jpegs or other photo formats.  Only video.

hmmm.. the files from GoPro are already mp4 format.  The Flash is already FAT32, brand new 16gig...
I am new to Macs but have no problems with PC's.  I suspect that because the files are exporting as shadowed files which won't play and are very small kb files, yet they are actually in excess of 140 mb each that it might have something to do with the iphoto software?  That's where the pics and video are, they imported to there by default, not to a folder in the home folder [which is where I would have expected them to be]
By the way, the GoPro is already in mp4 format so it is easy when transferring to computers. No need to convert. I tried converting them to see what the outcome might be, and none worked!  I tried every format I could find using Video converter ultimate software, which is excellent.
And the problems began when quicktime wouldnt play the file, the screen was black.

  • Playing video from MacBook Pro to TV (Like iPod)

Hi, I have an iPod Video, with the cables that I can plug from the 3.5mm jack to the a/v ports on my tv and play video on my iPod...
I'm just wondering if there's anyway to just use this cable to plug from my MacBook Pro straight to my TV a/v ports and play the video, instead of having to import them to my iPod first...
They are MP4's and already in iTunes, I COULD just upload them to my ipod but i'd like to know if it's possible to just go straight from the computer.
    Cheers..

i gave up on the apple ones, for me they weren't comfy, didn't sound good, kept falling out when i ran, were easily damaged if the volume was too high, and leaked sound like crazy which is annoying to everyone around
really not apple's finest piece of design
instead i now use some sony in-ear ones, mdr-ex71, it took a few days to get used to the fit but they have much better sound quality, are more comfortable, don't fall out, let enough outside noise in to be safe in the street, and don't leak sound - in fact when i wear them i'm sometimes annoyed by the sound leaking from someone else wearing apple's crappy earbuds!

  • Transfer photos/videos from MacBook Pro to External Hard Drive (not iPhoto)

I've read all the other threads regarding how to transfer photos from iPhoto to an external hard drive (i.e., format your EHD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)), however, I do not believe my situation applies.
In short, I download new photos/videos from my iPhone to my MacBook Pro twice - in two distinct methods.  The first method (and the one I favor) is to use the Preview Application to download photos to the MyPictures folder.  Once this is done, I revise the name of each photo so that I can tell not only the date but also the event.  Once this is done, I then also download the same photos to my iPhoto Library via iPhoto but I don't make any revisions to the file names (I don't know why I continue to download photos into my iPhoto Library since I don't like iPhoto, but I guess I feel like it is a "backup" of sorts).
My problem now is that my internal hard drive is filling up and I must transfer some photos to an External Hard Drive (EHD).  I thought the simplest solution was to transfer my iPhoto Library since I don't really use it anyway and many people advise to simply format my EHD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  However, if I do that, my understanding is that I will not be able to then transfer the files to a PC, if I decide in the future to do so.  The solution, as suggested by others, was to then format my EHD as "ExFAT".  However, if I do that, my understanding is that iPhoto will not function properly.
So my questions include the following:
    1.  Is there any harm in simply deleting my entire iPhoto Library from my internal hard drive to free up space since I believe I have been downloading all my pictures in a separate location anyway (MyPictures folder)?  Or will deleting my iPhoto Library somehow delete these other photos (even though they are not named similarly)?
    2.  If I decided that transferring my iPhoto Library to a Mac OS Extended (Journaled)-formatted EHD was the best solution, what would my options be if in the future I wanted to transfer the photos to a PC?  Is that option lost forever?  Or could I somehow transfer the photos from the EHD to the MacBook Pro, then re-format the EHD to ex-FAT, copy back the photos from the MacBook Pro to the ex-FAT-formatted EHD and then transfer the photos/videos to my PC?  Is there an alternative better solution?
    3.  Any other suggestions?
    Thank you

1 - no - if you do not like or use iPhoto then yu have no need for the iPhoto library - it is sefl contained and deleting it will not affect anything except iPhoto
2 - you can export photos form iPhoto to any format drive - it is only the iPhoto library that has drive format restrictions
Reformatting a drive totally erases it so you can not simply change the format of a drive without removing everything on it
3 - deciede what you want  - if you use iPhoto then it has no cross platform capability and nothing you do in iPhoto is directly of use on a PC - you have to export from iPhoto to a volume that a PC can read
Since you do not like or use iPhoto and it will not do what you want I have no idea why you are messing with it at all

  • Can stream video to macbook pro display?

I have a question. I have a Black Macbook, 2.0Ghz, and am wondering if I can stream a video to my friend's Macbook Pro's screen such that both of us can simultaneously watch the same video but on our own's screen?
Is it more of a software challenge or a hardware challenge i.e. special type of cable needed?

See this page for information about VNC, and here for Mac OS X VNC software.

  • Does airplay work for streaming videos on macbook pro ?

I got the 2011 13'' macbook pro, and at the moment, I don't have a tv, which I usually use netflix on but I moved. How can I take advantage of my home theater speakers which are about 10 feet in front of me while watching netflix on my macbook pro other then getting a super long audio cable.

    Thanks for all the replies.
Okay so this morning i called apple support, and i told them I think my hard drive is failing and the problems I've been having.
Told him i ran the techtool cd that comes with the apple protection box, and did research online and told them what the community thought of my issue. Although he didn't seem to impressed about what the community said lol.
So he told me to boot up using the leopard CD to run a disk repair utility. Upon trying to run the utility it failed, so he said it does seem to be a hard drive problem and to take it into an apple store to see what they can do for me. Now after i got off the phone with him, i went to restart my mac so i can start backing up the data and guess what?
It wouldn't boot anymore after trying to run the disk repair!!! Luckily a day ago, i backed up my data because I was afraid of my hard drive failing lol. Good thing i did!!!
So 2 hours later i went into the apple store that was packed with shoppers, and was actually able to make an appointment with a mac genius in under 10 minutes lol. He asked me what was happening, and look at my laptop.
And well, they replaced the entire laptop .
I've brought the laptop home and after installing leopard on a clean install, I ran the techtool again and received no errors!!!!
So now im reinstalling all the programs into my new mac
Thank you for all your replies.
