Streaming with apple tv

Im planning on having multiple iPhoto libraries as well as iTunes. My question is will I be able to view these libraries on an apple tv if the libraries are stored on a drobo, wich is attached to a time machine and my MacBook pro is closed or off.
Thanks,

That *****, the apple tv is so close to being functional. This is why I went with the apple tv. The latter is great with iPhoto and iTunes though! They should at least put a USB port on it or something!

    What is Wi-Fi Multimedia?
Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM), previously known as Wireless Multimedia Extensions (WME), is a subset of the 802.11e wireless LAN (WLAN) specification that enhances quality of service (QoS) on a network by prioritizing data packets according to four categories. Network administrators can change priority levels as they see fit. Ranging from highest priority to lowest, these categories are:
Voice: Giving voice packets the highest priority enables concurrent Voice over IP (VoIP) calls with minimal latency and the highest quality possible.
Video: By placing video packets in the second tier, WMM prioritizes it over all other data traffic and enables support for three to four standard definition TV (SDTV) streams or one high definition TV (HDTV) stream on a WLAN.
Best effort: Best effort data packets consist of those originating from legacy devices or from applications or devices that lack QoS standards.
Background: Background priority encompasses file downloads, print jobs and other traffic that does not suffer from increased latency.

Also disable this feature on your router, the data packets are not being read correctly.  Temporally while Apple figures this out.
Disabling WMM will just tell your router to stop regulating it, giving every bit of data transfer the same priority. Most routers come with it disabled by default, but some have it enabled by default as well.

  • HT4906 Photo stream with Apple TV2

Why can't I sign in on ATV2 photo stream set-up.  After entering apple ID password I get a message aging unable to sign in and that iCloud terms and conditions have changed?.

As I read this it should work. http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
However it has nothing to do with iPhoto for Mac. Try the Apple TV forum fir ATV questions. https://discussions.apple.com/community/appletv/appletv

  • TS4479 unable to use air stream with Apple TV

I am unable to play music from my ipad2 on my Apple TV. I am on same wireless network.

Ansers can only be as helpful as the details provided and there really is not much here to go on.  What happens when you try to use AirPlay?  Get an error, of so what?

  • Can I see video stream from a website on my tv from my desktop with apple tv

I am trying to watch a weekly video stream from a website using my Mac desktop on my tv with Apple Tv..can I do this?

If your computer is a Mac and new enough (2011+) then maybe.  See required specs here:

If you have an older Mac or Windows machine try airparrot.

  • Can I stream the HBOGO app to my TV from my iPad with Apple TV?

No, I would recommend getting a Roku.  Apple doesn't allow Hulu Plus or HBO GO.

  • I share a photo stream with a family member. Is there a way to make it so we have separate photo stream but still use the same apple id?

i share a photo stream with a family member. Is there a way to make it so we have separate photo stream but still use the same apple id?

You'll want a separate iCloud account for each user in addition to the main Apple ID used for purchases.
Let's say you have a family of four (husband, wife, and two children). Here is what you will need:
Main Apple ID for shared purchases in Tunes (everybody will be using this)
iCloud (Apple ID) account for husband
iCloud (Apple ID) account for wife
iCloud (Apple ID) account for child 1
iCloud (Apple ID) account for child 2
Yes, you can have both an Apple ID and iCloud account setup on the same device. On each iOS device, setup the main Apple ID account for the following services:
iCloud (Photo Stream and Backup are the only items selected here).
    Music Home Sharing
    Video Home Sharing
    Photo Stream
Additionally, on each iOS device, add a new iCloud account (Under Mail, Contacts, Calendar) that is unique to each user for the following services:
    Mail (if using @me.com)
    Contacts
    Calendars
    Reminders
    Bookmarks
    Notes
    Find My iPhone
    Messages
    Find Friends
    FaceTime
On your individual Macs (or Mac accounts), use the main Apple ID in iTunes. Then, use the unique iCloud account in/for iCloud.
Now that everbody is using separate iCloud accounts for your contacts, calendars, and other things, it will be all be kept separate.
The only thing that is now 'shared' would be iTunes content (apps and other purchases), backups via iCloud (if enabled), and Photo Stream (if enabled).

  • How do I get music to stream to Apple TV from my macbook air with Mavericks

Just bought a Macbook Air last week.
I am very conversant with Apple TV and Macs.  I have two iMacs and stream music from them to Apple TV and it's fine. They are running Lion and Snow Leopard.
My Air is running Mavericks. I open iTunes, enable Home Sharing, but the only airplay icon I can find is at the very top of the window beside the wifi symbol etc.
When I click on that it does MIRROR - I don't want MIrror. But I can't find the usual icon for sharing with Apple TV in iTunes - it's nowhere to be found.
I am just a bit frustrated at this. Can anyone tell me how I can play music from my Air to Apple TV without mirroring it? So frustrating!
Right now I'm streaming it from my iMac but ... what if the only computer I had was the Air? How can I work and stream music to my TV - I like to listen to it on the TV with photos on the screensaver.
    Thanks.
    Judie

The ability to send music via iTunes is in the upper left corver. On the right of the volume control. When you click on it, it gives you the option of Computer only, Apple TV only or both. Or more if you have more than just the Apple TV to do AirPlay. You can adjust volume differently on each "speaker" too.
Holding option and pressing the mute, volume down or volume up will also give you the option to AirPlay everything on your Mac to the AppleTV. As Tuttle suggested. But that is everything from the Mac, including alerts and such. Where as the iTunes AirPlay will only do the music.

  • How can I stream videos from my browers with apple tv to my tv?

Is it possible to stream the content of my webbrowser,i.e. videos to my tv with Apple tv? in some videos the airplay button appears in some not?
Any idea? Or does not work at all?
    Thx
    K

    Klasch
Some apps support airplay and others do not, it is the choice of the app developer.  You can mirror far more from your browser IF your mac book pro is early 2011 or newer (mid 2011 for all other macs) and you run OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.  For older macs third party apps such as airparrot or reflectorapp will help.  I have successfully watched tv series through mirror (albeit older ones in SD) with excellent quality using mirror and safari.

  • HT204053 i have 2 apple ids and one is from years ago when icloud wasnt a thought but now somehow it became my primary apple id and i cant photo stream with the apple id i use. Even if im signed into my old one the photo stream doesnt automatically go to

i have 2 apple ids and one is from years ago when icloud wasnt a thought but now somehow it became my primary apple id and i cant photo stream with the apple id i use. Even if im signed into my old one the photo stream doesnt automatically go to my mac. Im not exactly technology savy but id love to figure this out.

I have also noticed the same "problem".  I do not fully understand the impact of using the same ID on multiple computers and devices if I want to keep them all in sync.

  • Lightroom and/or iPhoto with Apple TV (first 1st generation) integration/streaming

As a hobby Photographer I love using lightroom, Many times, I want to use apple tv to show the photos, or even just randomly browse them. Now the problem is, there isnt any (or I dont know about one, thats why im here ) easier or more automatic or integrated way to stream the library into the apple tv i have (first generation apple tv) than through iPhoto.
Now, I WANT to use lightroom for handling and editing photos (the editting options and organization/sorting of photos is just somewhere in different dimensions to iphoto)
But, I HAVE to use iPhoto for streaming to Apple TV.
Any Idea how I could do all this without manual import export between the LR and iPhoto?
I know lightroom can watch a folder and use automatic import but is that really the best way?
Thank you so much! Please let me know of any idea that pops into your head!
    Thanks!
    Ondrej

Sorry but you'll need to go back and forth: out of Lightroom and into iPhoto. Setting up a workflow of flagging and using Smart albums can make this easier. But basically, those images need to get into iPhoto to work with Apple TV. Have you considered using Apple's Aperture? Aperture integrates nicely with Apple TV. That's what I use. However, be warned that Aperture is a resource hog and requires more of the higher end processes to work really well, especially if you have large photo libraries. You'll want 8GB of RAM and a newer graphics card (basically a newer Mac) and higher end CPU. The minimum requirements that Apple says Aperture needs are minimal at best.

    Hi rafromffx,
You can use AirPlay to stream content from an iPad to your Apple TV. See this article for how to do it and the requirements -
Use AirPlay to wirelessly stream content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • What is the best way to stream sports with Apple TV

What is the best way to stream sports with apple TV

Your question is a little too broad. Hard to know what sports you are talking about.
If you have a newer Mac, you can use airplay to mirror anything on your Mac to your apple tv. Or use the ESPN app.
But a lot of sports just can't be streamed as they are available, though I bet this year sees a lot of new livestreams on sports on YouTube or Ustream.

  • Apple TV streams with my iPhone fine but with my iPad I get sound only..any tips ?

When I stream iplayer with Apple TV using my iPhone it works fine but when I try the same thing with my iPad I can only get sound and a box on the tv that says ' internet radio'. Any tips please?

Safari on Macbook or other PCs does not support Airplay to AppleTV. Some people have added this support using Safari extension called ClickToPlugin but it only works for appleTV Ver 4.3 or older.
It would be a very useful addition to Safari. Granted that YouTube and other video sites are supported directly on the appleTV but searching is so much easier on the PC.
I wish appleTV or Safari product manager or a developer sees this and can add support for this to Safari natively. It will surely help for better adoption of both Safari and appleTV !
