Streams between 9i Enterprise and 10g Standard

Hi,
I'm currently trying to configure streaming between an oracle 9i Enterprise database and a 10g Standard Database. First of all, I would like to know if this is a configuration that can be done.
Actually I'm facing some problems on the 9i side... I tried to configured it manually and also through our grid control interface which prodvides a Streams Setup Wizard. In both case, I'm getting an "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel" error when trying to access the DBMS_STREAMS_ADM package...
I'm trying to follow a step by step procedure to configure streams that can be found at:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/123218/Oracle-Streams-Step-by-Step-Doc
If anyone has another procedure to provide me with or knows what could be the problem please let me know.
Thanks for your help !

Hi Radhika,
there are lot of diffrence between 9i and 10g rman
some are :-
1.in 10g we can compress rman backup
backup as compressed backupset database;
2.in 10g block change tracking fetaure are available this feature greatly improve the speed of incremental backup .
3.10g No need to take a backup of database after resetlogs of database on incomplete recovery.
4.rman uses flash back recovery area for storing rman backup set.
all these fetaure are not avaliable in 9i.
Thanks and Regards

  • Differences between 8i enterprise and 8i standard edition

I have seen numerous discussions on whether 8i enterprise or 8i standard should be used in my division, can anyone point me to a source where I can get a comparision of the features between these two.

I have installed Oracle 10 XE and it just seems so easy to work with. There's a GUI for everything. It does not have SQL Plus(that I've seen), but there's an area to type your commands into inside the program that helps administrator the Database. I could not find any documents on 9.2 so Im reading documents on Orcale 10 that I have downloaded from this site.
I am wanting to practice creating, removing, resizing tablespaces, creating databases, and other DBA things. I also want to have triggers functions and procedures working on it too. I wrote some in college against Oracle 8i.

  • Data Replication between Oracle 9i and 10g

    Hello,
I have a question regarding possible Replication Models between Oracle 9i and 10g. Does anybody know a possible way to syncronize the schema data between a 9i and 10g database in realtime?
If yes can you please post perhaps a link with a kind of how to?
    Many thanks to all,
    Bob...

You can read this metalink note 370850.1 - there are bit more ways of replication discussed.
Yes, platforms can be different, but recomendation is to use the same platform for both databases.

  • What are all difference between 11g Mediator and 10g Oracle service bus.

    hi all ,
Apart from SCA concept , storing location
is thr any other difference between 11g Mediator and 10g Oracle service bus ?
    thx in advance..

11g introduces the SCA architecture for building the service infrastructure.
    SOA 11g uses:-
    1. Uses the weblogic Server and BEA Aqualogic Service Bus (ALSB) for the Oracle Service Bus.
    2. BPEL uses scalable DOM with reduced memory usage.
    3. New adapters and leverage for Java 2 Connector Architecture (J2CA)
    4. BAM finally ported from .Net to J2EE and is part of the service infrastructure
    5. Oracle Web Services Management built into SOA 11g service infrastructure
    6. New adapters and leverage for Java 2 Connector Architecture (J2CA). Tighter integration with E-Business Suite & large payload support.
    7. Business Rules in SOA 10g business rules are managed using the Rules Author & in SOA 11g business rules are managed using JDeveloper and SOA composer

  • What's the difference between UPK Professional  and UPK standard

    Hi
I want to know the difference between UPK Professional and UPK standard.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
In a nutshell, the primary difference is the use of Knowledge Center.
UPK Std makes use of limited usage tracking and reporting, whereas UPK Pro allows full use of the Knowledge Center and related technologies.
The Reports Management.pdf and User and Content Management.pdf documents highlight specifics as to what is only available in UPK Pro.
You will find these docs as part of the installation media.
    Hope this helps.

  • Difference between Developer (6i and 10G)

    Hi All...
What is the Difference between Developer (6i and 10G).
    Thanks & Regards
    Sanjeev

Regarding Forms specifically, the most significant difference (in my opinion) is that all versions newer than 6.0.8 cannot be run as a client/server or character mode application. All versions 9.x and newer are deployed as a java applet within a browser.
There are numerous other differences, so describing all here would not be possible. If you have a question about something specific, please let us know and we can try to respond.
I would recommend you refer to the many documents which are available on OTN. Here are references to the most significant pages on OTN regarding Forms and Developer (iDS):

  • DBMS_AQ differences between 9.2 and 10g

Are there implementation differences between the 9.2 and 10g implementation of the Advanced Queues system ?
The Oracle 10g docs stress the reliability of that the AQ implementation (because it is based on the Streams mechanism). I did not find however references to the underlying technology of AQ in Oracle 9.2.
Also, how reliable is the AQ system (bugwise I mean) ?
    Any comments are appreciated
    Alex V

We've had a serious problem when upgrading 9.2.0.1 to 9.2.0.5 in our ERP. Until 9.2.0.4 Oracle returned a FLOAT column in views uning INTEGER columns. From 9.2.0.5 on, it returns an INTEGER column.
This causes problems, because we have customers using both versions.
Have anybody found a way to solve this?
