Strengths and Weaknesses of BPEL PM Engine..

We are planning to implement to Web Services and use BPEL PM Engine to Orchestrate the Business Processes. Before we go on a full scale Development, trying to understand the plus/minus of this tool.
Will really appreciate feedback and pointers on the Strength and Weak areas of this Engine. Any major bottleneck faced during Production/implementation.. Any area performed well above your expectations..

The strength of Netweaver is the 15 years experience of robustness and reliability which began in 1992 with SAP R/3.
The weakness of Netweaver is the dual stack concept ( abap and java in the same product) which pretends that the Netweaver Application server exists, also there is an ABAP application server and a JAVA application server which are (in my opinion) badly glued together.

I currently use non of them, but I see the advantages.

We prefer to say, the tender mercies of the Fetch block.
You'll notice the "wfm info" cluster as an output of the Fetch
VI. This cluster has gain and offset members- use these to scale
your binary data to floating point voltage representation.
As you point out, the numbers won't be exactly what you expect given
the vertical range and the device resolution. There are a few
reasons for this. First, we don't use the absolute full scale of
the ADC for the maximum input voltage. There are a couple of
codes of headroom at the top and bottom. This allows your input
signal to slightly exceed the specified vertical range without clipping
(you'll get a warning from the driver). Second, these gain and
offset numbers take into account calibration information for your
device. Using these numbers will correct for small deviations
from the ideal offset and gain.
So if you use the gain and offset numbers from the driver, your
measurements will be more accurate than if you assume 0 offset and
perfect gain. They will be most accurate if you make sure to
perform a self-calibration once the device is in your system and at the
temperature that your tests will be run.

Filevault impact on performance and application usability.
FileVault encrypts the user's home directory only - it is basically an encrypted disk image that is automatically opened when you log in and closed when you log out. It does cause disk accesses to be a bit slower so it isn't a good idea to use an encrypted account with sound or video or large graphics files. I have no experience with it with Parallels Desktop but suspect that you'd notice a bit of a slowdown. Note: in the User's directory you'll see a Shared Folder. Since FV only encrypts the user's directory you can put data you don't need encrypted in this shared folder which won't be encrypted.
TIme machine impacts, and whether TIme Machine volume will also be secure?
There are issues with TM and FV but how extensive they are with Snow Leopard I can't say, once I realized that TM and FV hadn't substantially changed between 10.5 and 10.6 I stopped dealing with it. When FV and TM were first introduced my testing led me to recommend using CCC or SuperDuper! for backing up.

Since FV is nothing more than a disk image - and disk images can fail - there are several problems with FV in my opinion. If an encrypted disk image fails it isn't possible to access any of that data. If you don't have a recent (undamaged) backup of the disk image and/or recent backup of the data within the disk image you are in a world of hurt. This isn't just a warning of possibility - this is a real danger that I've seen all too often at the shop where I have worked part time for a number of years.
At this time I strongly recommend that people who have sensitive data keep that sensitive data segregated from their general data and encrypt only the sensitive data or use other methods of locking it down such as saving on an external drive that is kept in a safe. Call me paranoid but I don't even keep all my sensitive data in one encrypted disk image. I use multiple disk images and keep multiple sequential backups. That way I might someday find that my up-to-date investments disk image won't mount but (a) I can go back a week to a backup and (b) that won't impact my up-to-date business records because those are in a different disk image

Strengths and weaknesses of Oracle developer/2000

I wanted to know what the drawbacks and limitations of dev/2000(forms and reports) are. Would appreciate a discussion from various experienced developers on the limitations they faced and even the solutions they have provided/been provided.

If you're planning on developing a system with good user interface design I wouldn't recommend using Forms 2000.
We tried to do a design which mimics the Start menu of Windows on Forms 6 and my fellow programmer in charge of user interface had a hard time even with Oracle Technical Support.
I'm just not sure if later releases of Forms 2000 can address such issues (moving windows, hiding of the title bar, following of the mouse, etc.).

XI = BPEL execution engine?

Hi,
XI allows to import and export business processes as BPEL. Does anybody know if XI hosts a reals BPEL execution engine under the hood (i.e. when I define a process in the repository, are BPEL files generated ready to be executed)?

Hi Heiko,
currently XI translates every ccBPM created in Integration Builder to a SAP Workflow on the ABAP side, so i guess, there are no BPEL files created and then executed.

If you are using Safari as a web browser :-
Open Safari, go to Safari menu > Preferences > General, and put Google as the homepage. Then, choose Google as your default search engine.
If you are using Google Chrome as the web browser :-
Open Google Chrome.
In the top right corner of the page, click the Chrome menu Chrome menu > Settings.
In the "Search" section, select Google from the drop-down menu.

I Downloaded something onto my computer and now when I click onto safari yahoo pops up instead of top sites I know certain changes come along with downloading but if there is a way back to top sites and google as my search engine I need it!! Hi,
For example you can create a simple BPEL Process and you can throw an error during running process. If input data is not valid and format is not correct you can throw error using throw activity and using catch activity you can catch particular error. The catch-all will handle all the error occurred with the scope.

How to test and deploy a BPEL application in JDeveloper?

Hi guys!
I'm trying to use the cue card overview (step 4) to test and deploy a BPEL application.
I'm using the new version o JDeveloper Preview (10.1.3.1.0) and when a click in "Launch the Create Integration Server Connection wizard" it asks me about Application Server, host name and port number. What I should fill in? Should I start BPEL process manager outside JDeveloper to start testing?
In the wizard of "Create Application Server Connection" (step 2 of 4: Authentication) it asks me about username (which is filled with oc4jadmin) and Password. What password I shout use here?
Finally, in the step 3 of 4 (Connection) the wizard asks me about host name and RMI port, what I should fill in?
Any help will be appreciate

You need an istance of a BPEL server to test this.
So download the SOA Suite Developer Preview and install on your machine - this will provide you with a server you can test BPEL on.

so I followed the advice in ssh, sshd, and Apache Enable OpenSSL pkcs11 Engine by Default on T4, T4+ Platforms (18762585, 18764604) - Oracle® Solari… and turned off UseOpenSSLEngine in /etc/ssh/sshd_config (Solaris 11.2 x86, AES-NI capable Intel CPU)…
Now dtrace shows me this:

Hi can anyone please tell me the difference between do-while, do-when, do-until and do-select in app engine.
I read the peoplebooks, but i was not able to keep up with that.
I know like do-while is like WHILE loop in any programming language.
here my question starts. WHILE has a condition inside the parenthesis and it will check whether that condition is true or not. where do we have that condition in do-while(is it the where conditions inside the do-while)?

Do-While
in simple words it is like, keep doing specified task , up to / when the condition is matching. once this is over, terminate the loop and come out. :)
If the Do While does not return any rows, the step is complete.
DoWhen - Select statement that allows subsequent actions to be executed if any rows of data are returned.i.e.when a particular conditions is matched like emplid='A2200' or may be a role based criteria etc
A Do When statement runs before any other actions in the step. If the Do When statement returns any rows,the next action is executed.
If the Do When conditions are not met, the remaining actions within that step are
not executed. Your program executes a Do When action only once when the owning step executes.
The only property that you can specify for the Do When action is the ReUse Statement property, which applies to all SQL-based actions.
Do-Until
Keep performing certain task , every time a particular task is being performed. its like keep doing task B until task A is accomplished.
A Do Until action is a Select statement that runs after each action when a step completes. Use aDoUntil action if you want the processing actions to execute at least once, and to execute over and over until a certain condition is true, such as until a Select statement returns some rows.You can also use a Do Until action to stop a Do Select action prematurely.
Do-Select
a) Select/Fetch : AE performs a Fetch statement for each iteration of the loop to get each row from the Select statement
b) Re-Select : For each Iteration , opens a cursor and fetches the first row. The cursor is reopen for each iteration. we put certain criteria by which the conditions should not match else this can be a deadlock
c) Restartable : This is same as ReSelect accept, Restartable flexibility.
We can restart this select/fetch as AE performs a checkpoint in the middle of the step. SQL in this mode,during restart will recognize where the previous run failed&where to restart processing.
Please Note: When AE is not set up for restartability, then commits are not controlled, monitored, or restricted by PeopleSoft Application Engine.
In Do Actions & Do Select we can specify ReUseStatement ~ SQL-based actions.

I am the Student of FAST (Foundation for Advencement of Science and Technology ) Karachi,Pakistan.
I am doing BS in computer science form here. { final year ( 7th semister ) }
currently I am doing a software Project regarding mobiles.
the main theme of my project is[b] to locate a mobile in an area without using the GPS technology .I have thougt to do it with the help of signal strengths and tower ID's of neighboring towers. With the help of these two things I will make some mathemetical calculations {for example triangulation or something else } to know where is the mobile at this point in time.
Initially i would implement it on client side .
are there any APIs that can tell at least 3 stongest cell IDs and their respective signal strengths from which mobile is getting signals; be useful to me in this regard !
for this i need your help ,to guide me how to move forword with this project
