String clips together from rtsp

Hi
I'm trying to find the best way of stringing clips together for example a.mov, b.mov and c.mov.
At the moment they are all playable over rtsp seperately.
I want users to be able to watch them back-to-back. I know I can do this with smil scripts using <seq> but I don't like that there are no time-controls to skip forward or backwards, etc.
How do I create a reference file to point to rtsp://.../a.mov, b.mov and c.mov??
Is that the best way to go?

okay...getting there.
I figured out some more info on smil that you can use:
time-slider="true"
to add the scrubber but as the media is loaded sequentially the scrubber can jump around and move at different speeds as the "presentation" grows in size...but it did seem to work ok.
I'm still very keen to figure out how you create a reference file for multiple movs running off of rtsp. Any ideas?

Stringing Clips Together on One Line

Hello All,
I've been having a problem. When I string clips (separate shows) together on one track for the purpose of looping them as one whole body of work I encounter a problem. After the frist shows play (both audio and video) it moves to the second show where the video does not play (the screen stays black). The audio however does play. Can you help please.

are you having this problem in simulator or your burned disc?
also, you can go about your loops in a couple of ways:
like you suggested, string them along on the same video stream (this will be the most seamless way to do it for playback) or you can also but each stream on its own video track.
i guess my next question is how is your DVD set up.

In imovie, I want to put these clips together but when I go to find the movies in events or albums where they are stored, they are not there. So, they show up in iphoto, but not I movie. I tried exporting them to desktop then to imovie, that didn't work either. Please help! How do I get my movie clips from my ipad2 to show up in imovie when creating?

They are not in the "events library" of imovie.

Question about putting video clips together

I am trying to put clips together in Premier Elements 12 using Windows 7 Professional. I keep getting an error message: "This thype of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed."
I admit that the clips are mostly jpeg and Flip video. I have installed the Flipshare software on the computer. What can I do to put these clips together? I saw an answer that mentioned exporting the BBB.prel Timeline to an appropriate file saved to the computer hard drive and then import that file into AAA.prel, using AAA.prel's Add Media/Files and Folder/Project Assets from where you drag the import to the Expert workspace Timeline to join the AAA.prel content already there.
But I don't know how to export, and what is an "appropriate file"?

We need more information in order to resolve your issue.
Are you saying that you cannot import even .jpeg photos into your Premiere Elements 12 Windows project...and your Flip video as well?
a. Were these jpeg processed in Photoshop? Do you know if they have the CMYK color profile? What are their pixel dimensions (width and height in pixels)?
b. What is the brand/model/settings of the camera producing the Flip video?
With the above information we can get at the media and program compatibility issue(s) that might be triggering the message "This type of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed."
You say that you have installed "Flipshare software" to your computer. What do you intend to do with it? If you are thinking to use it to convert the problem files into another format that Premiere Elements will accept, we still need to know the properties of what you are working with and set Premiere Elements accordingly.
The concept of using content from one Premiere Elements project file into another Premiere Elements project file does not apply to the situation that you describe for your issue.
You need to describe what you have for media and then we can proceed from there.
The brand/model/settings for the camera that produced the Flip video is a good start.
MediaInfo and gspot are programs to get at the properties of your video. But the brand/model/settings information may be all that we need.

I'm intrigued by this!
Can you explain further what the gaps look like when you export the movie. Are there black spaces, for example? You mentioned earlier that "it jumps quickly between clips that I edited which gives it a jerky appearance at those transitions". So you are possibly just seeing a change in sudden movement when moving from one clip to another.
I've noticed when shooting with my AVCHD camcorder that if I quickly move the camera straight after pressing the record button to stop recording, a jerky movement appears when played back. This is because the camera is still recording for a fraction of a second after pressing the button, that is, there is a slight delay before actual recording stops on the hard drive (unlike a tape based camera).
I simply edit out these annoying movements. When hovering the pointer over the beginning or end of a clip, a small icon appears, shaped like a left/right arrow. Click on the icon and a small section of the clip end (or beginning if editing the start point) will be partly encased in an orange border. You can then drag the border's handle inwards in increments of one frame, up to one second duration. Repeat this if you wish to trim more than one second. I find this better for short trimming than just dragging the clip ends inwards and using Trim to Selection from the pop-up menu, as it is quicker and has more precision. To enable this feature, in iMovie > Preferences - Browser tab, check the box labelled "Show Fine Tuning controls".
Of course, this may not be what you are seeing. But I can't really envisage what you mean by "how do I reduce or eliminate the larger gaps", as there should be no gaps, as explained by AppleMan1958. Could you please provide some more information, or include a screenshot of what you are describing.
To take a screenshot, press the key combination Command+Shift+4 - a crosshair will appear on screen. Drag this diagonally across the section you want to capture. A .png image file will appear on the Desktop. When posting here you will see a camera icon in the reply window's menu bar. Click on the camera icon then follow the steps provided (it lets you navigate to the image). Sorry if you already know this!

I'm not sure iBA reacts well to this type of editing, not to mention the cumbersome nature of trying to bring everything together in general.
I'd suggest a workflow where one book is handed off, instead. That, or, let the individuals involved create their basic content in Pages, then when ready, use iBA's Insert Pages Chapters menu to string them together. Best to work in a linear fashion and avoid adding/removing/adding/moving portions, etc.
If you must have separate authors, be sure to use the identical template and have them all properly trained up before going forward - trying this as a learning experience may result in an off-putting experience otherwise , with more time spent on chasing knots than on expressing writing skills, etc.

How can I make my clips burnt to disc play through without having to pick clip titles from the menu?

I burnt some clips from iDVD to DVD and want to know if anyone knows if there is a setting to make the clips flow through instead of having to go to menu and pick each clip?

Two ways:
1 - join the clips together as one file with Qjuicktime Player, iMovie or other app designed for that and use the single clip.
2 - create a slideshow in iDVD and add the clips to it. Set the slides display time to anything except manualliy. Do not add a transition or music.

What is the deal with the movie maker feature I click on all the clips I want for the movie , then click the Create movie feature and it only blends a small portion of the clips together , and there is no audio at all what gives? Im doing what it says to do.. The software for the vado movie making and editing is to vague..

I Hightlight all the movie you want to combine then click create moi've, I think you must then re-highlight them then click preview. But you might want to go to settings and move the slider all the way to the right so you only hear the audio from your videos.

How to delete string or line from unix file(dataset) of application server

After transfer workarea information or all records into dataset(unix file). When I see the file in application server automatically the last line is shown a blank line. I am not passing any blank line.
I have tried for single record than also the file generates the last line(2nd line) also a blank line.
When I m reading the dataset, it is not reading the last blank line but why it is showing the last blank line?
How to delete string or line from unix file(dataset) of application server?

I faced similar kind of issue working with files on UNIX platform.
The line is a line feed to remove it use
DATA : lv_carr_linefd TYPE abap_cr_lf VALUE cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf.
DATA : lv_carr_return TYPE char1,
         lv_line_feed   TYPE char1.
lv_line_feed   = lv_carr_linefd(1).
lv_carr_return = lv_carr_linefd+1(1).
Note: IMP: The character in ' ' is not space but is a special
character set by pressing ALT and +255 simultaneosly
REPLACE ALL OCCURRENCES OF lv_line_feed IN l_string WITH ' '.

QuickTime Player is not itself able to do this. You need a proper DVD authoring solution such as Apple's iDVD.

and the return some kind of cursor thru I can loop and insert data into
different db Tables. (The return value may have complex parent/child data relationship - so I am not sure If this should be a cursor)
I looked online many site for related info - can't find what I am looking
for - seems like should be a common question.

This indicator will appear when you have not registered your product or typed in the serial number for the product.

Sending string of bits from PXI to NAS

Good evening, I expose my problem:
I should send a string of bits from PXI to a memory type NAS, using the FTP protocol. I do this every 0.72 ms, then use a timedloop with a frequency of 1MHz. But implementing a timer sending time is very different from what I expect. My question is whether this problem is due to the FTP put buffer.vi that takes more time to send the string.

I Dont think a FTP server is meant for being accessed every 0.72s
I would use the queue functions built into labview for buffering the data and access the FTP server at a much lower rate, every minute or every hour...

Linking two video clips together

I cannot find the way, how to link two video clips together so, that when moving one, the linked clip follows.
Is there a way of doing that?
The manual gives nothing with words: "linking video clips".

You can't link video clips to each other. You can nest them. Put the two clips in a sequence the way you want them. Put the sequence with the two clips inside your master sequence. They will act as a single clip. That's the only way.
