Strip the PDF properties such as title,author while check-in

Hi,
Here is the version details :
Version: 10.1.3.5.1
Database Version: 11.1.0.0.0 ---Oracle
The customer doesn't want to see the data in the PDF properties like author,title when they do right click => Document Properties while viewing PDF from UCM.
Could anyone suggest the best way of fixing this please?
thanks in advance.
cheers,
J

Hi ,
Are these PDF's being created using Inbound Refinery from some Word Documents .
I think this can be done by un-checking the option "Transfer the properties " from input contents to output .
This is I think one way of achieving the requirement .
Thanks

  • A font not used in an MS Word doc is showing up in the PDF properties and won't embed

    A friend needed a new manuscript uploaded to a publishing site. I retyped it in MS Word (2007) using NO formatting shortcuts and using only ONE font (Georgia)  for both body and headers/footers. Placed all the jpg illustrations on the pages. Then saved it in the required PDF format for the publisher's system to use. They also require that ALL fonts/symbols are embedded. Even ONE character that is not embedded will void the file. I'm now on attempt 17.
    When I checked the properties on this PDF file, the font I used, including italics, symbols and bolding, are noted as embedded. However, it also says that there is ARIEL font (which I did not use) that is NOT embedded. AARRGGHH.
    This gal wants her book ready in two weeks. HOW can I resolve this? Any ideas? I saved it once through MS Word using the PDF option, but also tried it through my Photoshop Elements. Same result. My PC uses Windows 8 (NOT 8.1) and the Adobe Reader XI.0.7. The Java files are the most current update as of yesterday.

    It seems to me to be a problem of MS Word, not Adobe Reader.
    Also, I don't know how you can convert a Word doc to PDF with Photoshop Elements.

  • How to include original InDesign filename in the PDF properties?

    In CS3, I used to make postscript files and distill them to PDFs in Acrobat Distiller. When I did this the finished PDF would include info about the author and original filename.
    In CS5 I export directly to PDF. Is there any way to include this data when I export? I know you can add additional metadata in File info, but it doesn't seem to include the original file name.
    Anyone know how to do this?
    V

    Distiller operates on files, so I'm not surprised it can insert the file name, but I wonder where it gets the author?  (I confess I use Distiller as a last resort.)
    One of the charming aspects of XMP metadata is that the names for the different categories of information sometimes change with the context.  Thus were you to put your ID file's name in the ID File Info category Description and export to PDF it will show up in Acrobat/Reader in the Subject category.  If I wanted to record the original ID filename I'd probably paste it there -- in my work Title usually needs to hold the actual title.  One of the scripters could probably come up with a way to automate the process, but I want to check the metadata anyway, and as long as I'm there it doesn't take long to type or paste in the filename.

  • Windows 7 doesn't display pdf properties

    Windows 7 doesn't display pdf properties/metadata, like title, comments, author, subject etc. This was a great feature in XP. Anybody know a workaround?

    On this site is explained how to display the pdf properties in windows 7 explorer.
    http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7files/thread/203b60ca-b773-4931-85ad-a5 e67656d6ce
    steps:
    open the file explorer in windows7
    select libraries from the left navigation bar
    right click on the libraries heading.
    select "new" > "library"
    give the library a name e.g. "sales orders".
    press the button "include new folder" to select the folder where the pdf files are in. e.g. "D:\files\sales\orders\"
    select (top-right) "arange by" and select e.g. "name".
    you should now be able to see the pdf properties (don't forget to enable the subject etc. collums)
    See picture..
    Good luck!!

  • CS6 Photoshop: One newly-created PSD filewon't print because the print dialog box won't appear altho the file properties appear to be the same as other files that do print.

    CS6 Photoshop: One newly-created PSD file won't print because the print dialog box won't appear after selecting File > Print.  Then "Print" becomes grayed out. The file properties such as permissions, are the same as other PSD files that do print.  This file also cannot be converted to Adobe PDF, which is not offered as choice under "Save as", whereas other can be.  I've exited, reopened Photoshop, restarted computer, checked out other CS6 PSD files which do print, nothing changes.  The 52 MB file has been flattened. OS is Windows 7.  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Sounds like the printer driver is having some problems.
    Try holding the space bar down when you select Print (which makes the print dialog NOT load previously used settings).

  • RoboHelp11 - Search doesn't find a PDF with word in Title

    I am having challenges with some PDFs being found when you search. For example.
    Using Sleep as the search word, the PDF document with a title "Sleep Apnea Guideline" should have been found. But it isn't. Many other documents and websites are found but not the one I expected.
    And even when I search for Sleep Apnea, the document is not found.
    The primary layout is Multiscreen HTML5.
    So far I have managed to solve every problem that my client has asked to solve so that they can use RoboHelp as the method to deliver a large number of reference documents and websites. Unfortunately, this one issue my stop everything. I am not able to explain why the document cannot be found.
    Am I doing something wrong?

    Yes, there are other PDF documents and they can be found, I made sure that PDFs are not excluded.
    Even if it were a scanned document, the file name should be found. I am not sure how I can check if a document was scanned or not. I did a search for sleep while in the PDF and it found the words. Only the topic that this is in displays in the list but the actual PDF file (with sleep apnea in the name) does not list separately.
    Here is what I have in the topic:
    Here is the baggage file name.

  • Website is caching metadata from orig AI file within the PDF?

    I had an Illustrator file and printed as a PDF. Uploaded to the web under a different file name.
    Why when I do a Google search is the search engine displaying the name of the AI file?? How would it even know this?
    Is metadata getting captured within the PDF and the web crawler picking up on?
    Please explain and tell me how to control this?
    Thanks!

    As noted you should look at the meta data of the PDF. This is part of the PDF properties and with the addition of XMP data, there is a lot data retained by the PDF during Creation. Be sure to investigate the 'Additional Meta data' and 'Advanced' buttons. If this is a problem, look at removing the data by manually deleting it or using a redaction tool.

    The information that can be found in the Document Properties of a PDF, such as the author's name, keywords, and the PDF's page size, is known as which of the following?

    Sounds like a question from a test... Only without the multiple-choice options.

  • Does anyone know how to use pages so you can export pdfs from the internet and automatically drag words from the document into the file name of the pdf (i.e., author, title of a scientific paper)

    Does anyone know how to use pages so you can export pdfs from the internet and automatically drag words from the document into the file name of the pdf (i.e., author, title of a scientific paper). For example, if I am downloading a paper by smith called "Surgery" that was published in 2002, it will automatically set the file name in the download to smith- surgery 2002. I have heard pages is smart enough to do this.
    thank you

    Pages can export only its own documents. They may be exported as PDF, MS Word, RTF or Text files.
    Pages can import (ie. Open a file as, or Insert a file into, a Pages document) documents in several formats, but won't rename the document as you describe. Documents that can be Opened (eg. Text, AppleWorks 6 WP, MS Word files) are converted to Pages documents, and retain their original names, with .pages replacing the original file extension. Files that can be Inserted (generally .jpg, .pdf and other image files) become part of the existing Pages file and lose their names.
    It may be possible, using AppleScript, to extract the text you want and to Save a Pages file using that text as the filename, but that would depend in part on being able to identify which text is wanted and which is not.
    How will the script determine where the author's name begins and where it ends?
    How will the script recognize the beginning and of the title, an decide how much of the title to use in the filename?
    How will the script recognize the year of publication?
    For papers published in a specific journal, with a strict format for placing each of these pieces on information, or containing the needed information as searchable meta data in the file, this might be possible. But it would require knowledge of the structure of these files, and would probably handle only papers published in a specific journal or set of journals.
    Outside my field of knowledge, but there are some talented scripters around here who might want to take a closer look.
    Best of luck.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Can the pdf title and author properites be set from an RTF template

    Is it possible to set the out PDF properties from the RTF template? That is the properties you see when you select file properties in the pdf viewer.
    Noticed a code snippet in another post that would appear to set some of the properties when using PDF book binder.
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.setProperty(Constants.SYSTE_TEMP_DIR, location);
    prop.setProperty(Constants.SYSTEM_CACHE_PAGE_SIZE, Constants.NUM_50);
    prop.setProperty(Constants.PDF_COMPRESSION, Constants.BOOLEAN_TRUE);
    {color:#0000ff}
    prop.setProperty(Constants.PDF_TITLE, "Custom PDR");{color}
    prop.setProperty(Constants.INCLUDE_TOC_PAGE_NUM, Constants.BOOLEAN_TRUE);
    pdfBookBinder.setConfig(prop);
    Also found the posting about setting the pdf security property by seting word custom properties. Tried combining the two but is did not work. Any ideas anyone?

    For anyone who is interested, this was caused by our email client, not BIP.

  • How to Overwrite Document Properties (Title, Author) for Indexing Purposes

    SES Experts...
    Our client is running SES 1.1.1.2.0.0 and using a Database Data Source to index various documents (PDFs, DOC, XLS, PPT, etc.). The document metadata is taken from column data (TITLE, AUTHORS, KEYWORDS, etc.) rather than the properties of the document.
    The client does not want SES to index the properties of the document (Author, Title, Subject, Keywords, etc.).
    Is there a way to accomplish this? I believe the Document Service API could accomplish this but it's not clear to me how exactly we would do this.
    Any help/pseudo code would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    You have to implement a document service and place it in the pipeline after the default summarizer.
    You could also try to remove the default summarizer from your pipeline. Try it out before wasting time on a document service implementation. Depends on the way you retrieve your column data.
    If however you really need to develop your own DS simply overwrite the title attribute with the value from the column data you mentioned or delete unwanted entries.
    public int process(DocumentContainer documentContainer) throws DocumentServiceException {
    DocumentMetadata docMeta = documentContainer.getMetadata();
    docMeta.setAttributes("TITLE", new String[] { yourtitle }); // overwrite attribute
    docMeta.deleteAttribute("AUTHOR"); // delete attribute
    return DocumentService.STATUS_ATTRIBUTE_CHANGE;

  • How do I change the way the title/author appear and is there any way to remove pages on EPUBs?

    Hi all--
    I am having a really hard time--I am trying to transfer EPUBs from my Win 7 comp to my Nook Tablet. I bought a lot of books from several non-BN sites because they were lots cheaper and were also sold in bundles--but the site was messed up and sent the books in PDF form rather than EPUB.  PDF files won't read like a regular book on my Nook Tablet, so my friend offered to convert them to EPUB for me.
    Most of the books turned out fine, but some of them now have a few extra pages at the beginning before the cover image and the correct title and author are not displaying--it seems to instead show the filepath where the file was saved on m friend's computer (C:\My Computer/Documents and Settings...etc.)
    So, what I would like to do is be able to edit the EPUB files so I can delete the extra pages at the beginning so the correct cover image will be displayed and to be able to change the file's data sp it will show (and be searchable by) the correct title and author.
    I am new to all this, so I appreciate any help you can offer.  Thank you SO much for your help!!
    --Jamie
    P.S.  Having the title and author show up correctly so they are searchable and appear in the correct place on my Nook Tablet is the top priority--correct cover pages would be nice aesthitically, but it is not that important.
    ****ALSO--does anyone know of an app or anything for the Nook Tablet that would allow PDF files to be read just like an EPUB/B&N=purchased book?  Currently when I open a PDF, it shows the page in TINY print--you can use pinching to zoom in, but then the file enlarges so it is bigger than the screen, making it very hard to read.  I can't figure out any way to enlarge the text but still fits the page like an EPUB does, so I'm wondering if there's an app that would do that--it's hard because you can't try apps before you buy them and I can't teel if they will work from the descriptions.

    For sideloaded content the nook pulls the metadata from ePub file itself.  I would suggest looking at a program like Sigil or Calibre that will let you edit the metadata in the book to make it appear like you want.
    For the PDF vs ePub - No, that's the way PDFs work (think of them as graphics, not text), wheres ePubs are Web Pages - so  no you can't them to behave exactly alike without converting the files.

  • When I drag pdf files into iBooks Author, the background in the pdf file changes into the colour of my book (brown/beige)?

    Hi,
    when I drag a pdf file (when working in Preview) into iBooks Author, the background colour in the pdf file changes into the background colour of the book.
    This happens not consistently, sometimes the background of the pdf file does not change (and stays white), sometimes it's like the text in the pdf file is 'lifted' of the file, and put on the page in iBooks Author (with a brown/beige background).
    All the pdf files are scanned pdf's, nothing comes out of Pages, Word, Excel,...
    Anybody?
    Thanks a lot!
    Wouter

    I have the same question (posted here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25644741#25644741).
    I believe this is because the PDFs have transparent backgrounds. As far as I can tell, the only way to fix it is to export the PDF as another file, such as an image file. Or perhaps convert it to Word and import it that way.

  • File Info (Subject,Title, Author etc) are not converted to PDF

    Hi,
    We have a RTF file that contains values updated in File Info section (File>Properties in over versions of MS Word). We need these information also to be part of the PDF output in BI Publisher. Unfortunately BI Publisher seems to strip off these information while generating the PDF output.
    I have turned on the "Accessibility Mode" and also update the properties section
    "Enable text access for screen readers" - True
    "Enable copying of text, images, and other content" - True
    Has anyone faced this issue?

    Got confirmation from SupportWeb that accessibility is available only for HTML outputs.
