STRIPES IN PHOTOS

After converting a Word 2010 document to PDF, some of the photos had black horizontal stripes through them. The photos are low rez (120kb) and are not in a drawing canvas in Word. Any ideas?

The attached PDF was created from Word 2010 (docx.). All of the photos were taken by the same camera, same settings, etc., JPG’s about 150-400 kb. The only photos affected were on pages 6 and 7. I have used this process hundreds of times; this is the first time I encountered this problem.
In the Word doc, the photos were inserted into a drawing canvas. I later tried reworking the Word doc by removing the two photos from the canvas and re-inserting them; this had no effect on the two bad pix in the redone PDF.
I did find a work-around by deleting the photos, opening them in Adobe Elements, saving them as JPG’s, then re-inserting them into the Word doc. After converting this version to PDF, the two pictures look normal. I have no idea why this worked.
Thanks for your help.

  • White flare/stripe on photos from direct light source

I have a problem very similar to this https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3-Z3-Dual/White-stripe-on-photos/td-p/909906 but i am not using flash. White stripe only shows when light is coming direct to camera from a light source like fluorecent lamp and from a particular angle.
Stripe shows in both portrait and landscape mode and always at same place. I am attaching 2 photos 1 taken in landscape and other in portrait.
I have a protecting cover but it is not covering the camera lens.
I think other z3 devices do not have this issue as i have searched a lot but i only found 1 other person facing this issue and i have shared the link above.
Can i know why this stripe shows on photos? Is it a known issue? Should i claim warranty?

  • HP 6450- Stripes with photo cartridge only

When using the #99 photo cartridge I get a stripe pattern in the light color areas. When I perform align cartridges I see some stripes in the light colors in the bottom-right patterns (yellow, light blue, pink) but not in the darker colors. I have cleaned cartridges several times and put a new one in all the with same results. When I put the black cartridge in place of the photo #99 the prints look good with no stripes. I get the same results with photo paper and regular letter paper with the  proper settings in the preferences.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
You may use the color ink only by removing the low black cartridge.
You may find the steps below from its user guide as a reference:
    Use single-cartridge mode
Use the single-cartridge mode to operate the HP ENVY 4500 series with only one ink cartridge. The
single-cartridge mode is initiated when an ink cartridge is removed from the ink cartridge carriage.
NOTE: When the HP ENVY 4500 series operates in single-cartridge mode, a message is displayed
    on the printer display.

  • White stripe on photos

    Hi
    Happe X-mas
Yesterday i discovered a problem with some of the photos I took. On some photos I get a white vertical stripe to the right on the photo. It seems like it only acures when there is alot of light in the shoot. Is this something to do with the lighting in the room? Have tried with auto and manuel. No differenc. No damage on the lens og the glas.
Have to photos to show what I mean.

It is almost on the same spot on all the photos. The top photo I have croped, cause it is a private photo.
Adding two more photos I just took.

  • Can anyone suggest a stripped down photo gallery / slideshow?

I'm creating an iWeb site and want to show 3-5 images on each project page in a photo gallery. The site design is very minimal, with any unnecessary parts removed.
The iWeb photo page is fine except that I can't change the font and two sets of previous/next scrollers appear (one at top and bottom of photos).
I literally want a photo with two arrows below to scroll to the next one.  No thumbnails, no descriptions, download options etc.
I think this is pretty much what I'm after...http://nordarchitecture.com/projects/shingle-house-dungeness/
Any suggestions would be very welome.

  • New iweb 08 update still stripping out photos

having installed the new 08 update I thought it might solve the MANY problems expereinces so far in updating 06 iweb sites
After a quick look it seemed ok but when I opened the domain file the second time most of the photos were missing.
Thought I had solved it by trying again from a previously backed up domain file, and opening each page in turn so 08 could get a good look, then saving.
It worked the first time but I opened it again to find once again most of the photos removed.
Remember this is after installing the update that came out this morning!!!!
    Anybody else the same??

  • Photos being duplicated and rearranged

There are two issues I've been having with iWeb in regards to photos. The first is that whenever I make a slideshow it looks fine in iWeb, and it even works when I open up the index.html file in Safari, but it doesn't work when I actually upload my site to my host server.
So, since I couldn't get the slideshow to work, I decided to just build a more stripped down photo gallery. All it is is a bunch of images on an otherwise blank page, nothing fancy. Again, it looks fine in iWeb and in Safari, but as soon as I upload it to my host server it ends up rearranging and duplicating images so that not all of my images are there, and some of them are in places they definitely shouldn't be.
I'm using iWeb 08, and I use Fetch to upload my pages to a GeoCities website.
    This is my website:
    http://darkfan.com/PhotoGallery.html
As you can see near the bottom, one photo is duplicated and two are missing and have been replaced with images I created for the "photo gallery" and "home" links.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Many people have fixed this by connecting their phone, then disconnecting it and re-connecting it again. Odd I know, but they report it works.

  • How can I preserve the date and time of photos when moving them from iPhone to iPhoto and then to other folders on my computer?

In the past I’ve had no problem moving photos from my iPhone 4 into various folders on my computer while retaining their original date and time. I would import into iPhoto, then drag the photos from iPhoto into other folders via the Finder or Adobe Bridge (which is my principal image organizer). The original date and time of the photo would always travel with the jpeg into iPhoto and then into other folders. However, sometime during a recent session transferring photos in this way, the dates of the photos started to change at the point when I copied them out of iPhoto. Within iPhoto itself, the various original dates of the photos are retained. But in Finder and Bridge, copies of those same photos all carry the same (worthless) date: the date and time that they were imported from my iPhone. I can’t figure out what would have changed on my Mac to make it start re-dating my photos. I was happily dragging and dropping photos, and suddently I started to lose the original dates. Did I inadvertently change some settings? (I am running OS 10.6.8 and using iPhoto 8.)

(I use iPhoto only to import from my iPhone; I organize all my images, including thousands of RAW files, in folders on a big external drive.)
Why are you using iPhoto at all? use image capture or drag and drop the photos
The problem is that the files I am copying are getting stripped of the EXIF metadata
eliminating iPhoto from your work flow will eliminate one oppertunity to have this happen  For photos in iPhoto it is best to export them rather than drag an drop them - this assures your EXIF and IPTC data is correct and uptodate
Why would I be able, over many years, to retain EXIF metadata in photos imported from an iPhone--then one day find that the same workflow strips such photos of EXIF data?
Because exporting is the supported way to "export" photos - I never drag and drop photos out of iPhoto and I never use thrid party programs on the photos in the iPhoto library - try exporting as suggested above and see if that is the solution

  • When I try to adjust the date and time of an event by selecting Photos from iPhoto, the year I enter is altered.

I have images in iPhoto from an older digital camera which did not record the date and time.  In iPhoto, with an event selected, I have tried to adjust the date and time by choosing Photo.  When I adjust the date and check Modify original files, it makes the date much earlier--in centuries.  I now have an event from August 2003 (the date I entered) which reads June 2, 1251 under the event!  When I attempt to correct it, it goes back further in time.  What am I doing wrong?

  • Can I FTP large photos directly from iphoto or Photoshop Elements?

I have been uploading large jpegs onto another server using ftp plug-in with Aperture. But it strips the photo info, captions etc from the file, which is crucial information for my clients. Does any one know why this is happening, If I could ftp directly from iphoto or Photoshop elements even, it would be easier for me as I don't find aperture useful for multiple batch changes in file names and captions.
Currently I have been editing the file names and comments in iphoto, exporting 'version name' (other wise it exports the original file name) to a folder on the desktop and then importing these files into aperture where I use a plug in AperturetoFTPpro. I do have the export version box checked and not the 'master' box - By now i've lost track of which it thinks the 'master' or 'version' is!
not sure what's causing the problem, iphoto or aperture.
When i look at the metadata in aperture, I can't see the captions, but if i open the same file in photoshop and do 'apple i' the info is there.

To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to FTP directly out of iPhoto that's built into iPhoto, but you can try asking in the iPhoto forum where if anyone knows how you'll be more likely to get a response. There is a third-party product called PhotoUpLink that the developer says works with iPhoto that you could try.
The same applies to your Aperture question; try asking in the Aperture forum, though if you're using the demo plugin that comes in the Aperture Plug-In SDK, that's really not intended to be "production quality" but rather just an example of plugin development, so it may well lack capabilities or otherwise have issues. You might take a look at PhotoUpLink or Uberload for Aperture,
Not using Photoshop Elements I can't say about that, but Adobe runs their own forums for that here where you could ask.
    Regards.

  • Can't move photos into albums

    Hi there,
ever since I upgraded to iPhoto '09 I can't seem to move photos into albums that I am editing.
When viewing the photos in "normal" list mode there is no problem to move them into an album. I grab the photo, drag it onto the album and a green plus sign appears indicating that it is possible to add the photo. When I drop it and check, the photo is indeed inside the album as it should.
When I double click the photo to go into edit mode I see the enlarged photo and a strip of photos running along the upper edge. This is just like in iPhoto '08. It used to be that I could grab photos in that strip and drag them to an album. When I do this now the green plus sign does appear just as before, which makes me think that I can indeed add it to the album. However, when I check the album the photo is not there.
Is this a bug? Is it some preference that I can set?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

  • Aperture make photos look bad!

    Hello,
I use the import and i have all photos in a library,
I click on a picture in the film strip the photo looks great for a few seconds. and it has a loading icon at the top of the preview picture then after its done the photo looks muddy crappy ect...
It does this for all pic in the film strip.
I was hoping uninstalling the program anf reinstalling it would help but it does not.
I also used anouther mac pro with apature on it and it DID not do a thing to the photos, and the photos look just like what i took.
    Thanks Ralph

Ralph, have you imported "Raw" images? What you are describing is very typical for Aperture creating new thumbnails and previews from the raw images, when it is loading the image for editing. Unitil you try to edit the image file, Aperture may be using the camera generated preview, that is showing all processing done by the camera, but the raw will not include any camera processing.
Have a look at this thread for a discussion of the differences between camera generated previews and Aperture's previews.

  • EXIF data stripped on export??

Why on earth would FW strip a photo's exif data when exporting? Web graphics are sometimes contractually required to retain metadata. This opens users up to liability if they don't realize that a photographer's credit is removed during compression.
Is there any way to have this reversed??

I'm aware of the fact that image copying is widespread. This is why exif data is often a requirement to inclusion in web-displayed images; it reduces liability of web publishers, because we've done all we can to prevent copyright attribution from being removed from the image. Are you aware that many photographers' contracts stipulate harsh penalties for publishers who remove metadata from provided files?
Photoshop has 2 problems. The first is that it seems impossible to automate a batch to export a folder of images with "save for web" settings. All my research suggests that it's impossible without digging into actual scripting, rather than relying on actions.
The second problem is that the fireworks "save for web" option is roughly 40% more efficient than the photoshop method, for comparable compression artifacts. I have no idea why photoshop wouldn't use the more efficient fireworks algorithm, but it simply doesn't.
In the past I've used imageready, which provided slightly better compression ratios than photoshop, retained all exif data, and allowed the creation of droplets. With the nonsensical removal of imageready from photoshop, and its replacement with the comparatively crippled fireworks (the compression efficiency is nice, no droplets is tolerable, but exif stripping is unforgivable in this day and age), I'm left searching for a product that will serve my needs.

Have you checked with the Font Book Utility if there are still any font families marked with an exclamation mark as duplicates?
If the upgrade to 3.2.2. does not resolve your problem, try if running Aperture in 32bit mode will help.
I am not entirely sure if duplicate fonts might cause the problem - the last crash with nik plug-ins reported in this forum that were related to duplicate Arial fonts  (Re: Nik Plugin Crash Issues) was with the viveza plug-in, not with the colorefex plug-in, also the crash occured when selecting the plug-in from the menu "Performing @selector(a_editWithPlugIn:) from sender NSMenuItem", not  with a bad access when addressing the graphics card.
