"stroke" around letters in indesign?

Hello.
I want to do in InDesign (CS5.5) that, what i get in Photoshop if i make a "stroke" around the letters.
Is it posible?

You will have more control using the Stroke and Swatches panels.
Select your text
Click the icon in the Swatches panel for the Stroke color
Click the swatch you want applied (such as Red)
Move to the Stroke panel
Set the stroke weight, style, alignment (inside or outside of text glyph), etc.

  • InDesign adding a white stroke around element in .EPS file after export

    I am trying to place an .EPS file over another image file (background is not white).  It does not matter in which manner I place, copy or insert the file.  Upon export to high quality .pdf (both interactive and print), there appears to be a while halo or stroke around one element in the .EPS file.  The .EPS file is a logo with a blue box and writing next to it.  The writing is fine, but the blue box has the stroke… so it is not the entire file element.  Very strange.  I have never seen this before and someone else testing the file does not have the same issue.  Any thoughts?

    A screen shot would be helpful....

  • Knockout stroke around text CS6

    I am working on a logo that will be printed on a canvas bag (hence the background color) and I would like the white stroke to simply subtract from the shapes behind it, almost like padding on a text box. I don't want to be able to simply see through it, I would like the white stroke basically to create a transparent stroke around the yellow text. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Katie,
    It may be better to try the following, then go through your present artwork to make sure that you have an equivalent structure.
    1) Create a grey rectangle (like the background);
    2) Create a smaller blue rectangle (like the underlying letters);
    3) Create some live Type (like the 2014) on top of the blue rectangle, you may keep it live or Type>Create Outlines;
    4) With 3) selected, in the Appearance palette flyout click Add New Stroke;
    5) With the Stroke selected (highlighted) in the Appearance palette, change its colour to white and drag it down beneath contents (adjust the Stroke weight if needed), then in the Transparency palette set the Opacity to 0, this will make it disappear;
    6) Select everything, then ShiftClick the grey rectangle to deselect it, and Ctrl/Cmd+G to group the rest, then in the Transparnecy palette tick Knockout Group.
    Not the stroke behind the text should knock out the blue rectangle so the grey one shows through.

  • CS4 Bridge - Black stroke around image in Web Gallery

    More specifically, I'm using the LightRoom Flash Gallery selection as that provides just the structure that I want/need. To match my website (still in construction) I've altered the colors in Bridge's controls. Separately, I've added a frame around each image in Photoshop with a dropshadow that bleeds into the background color (again, to match the website).
    The problem is that there is a 2 pixel stroke around the image.
    Unfortunately since the image has a frame of its own with a drop shadow bleeding to the page color as part of the image, and that there's a 2 pixel stroke around the image, I've got a dropshadow contained within a stroke frame around the image that already has a frame. To my eyes it looks rather silly.
    Is there anything I can do to get rid of this stroke? You can see two images with the problem here:
    http://thecoynes.com/hdr/hdr_photographs/
    By the way, before you suggest it, in the color palette options for this Web Export, there is an option for "Border." Unfortunately that is for the 1 pixel round-corner-rectangle border around the thumbnails and image. It doesn't do anything to *this* border. In addition, the structure of this web gallery is EXACTLY like the one in LightRoom and has the exact same results and problems.
    Thanks for any help,

    Tomrock,
    Please read the last paragraph where I start "By the way, before you suggest it..."
    In other words, yup, I've tried that and it refers to the 1 pixel border around the thumbs and the overall image.
    Thanks for suggesting anyway, I've spent way too much time on this already.

  • How do i take a image of a wine glass and wrap a image around it in indesign cs6

    How do i take and image of a wine glass and wrap another image around it!

    InDesign isn't the correct application for such a manipulation.
    If the "image of a wine glass" is a 2-dimensional image, you may be able to create the illusion of something wrapped around it in Photoshop, but there won't be any automatic solutions. Fundamentally, what you're proposing is a function of 3-D modeling.

  • Best way to create frame with stroke around a paragraph?

    What is the best way to create a frame with a stroke around text? I
    always thought it was with an inline frame, but now I see that trying to
    put the cursor in the text is very difficult because the frame blocks
    the cursor. Is there a better way?

    Thanks guys.
    What I was doing was putting the anchored frame in an empty paragraph
    above the paragraph that needed the box. The problem was when I tried to
    put the cursor in the text the anchored frame blocked it. Why is an
    anchored frame on top of text?
    The easy solution would be to cut/paste the text into the anchored frame
    (which would be similar to Ole's single cell table idea). I didn't want
    to go this route for two reasons:
    1) I don't want to cut and paste every paragraph.
    2) I didn't want the story to be broken up. I wanted it to be one long
    flow of text. It makes tings easier just in case the paragraphs have to
    break across two pages.
    Jongware's underline/strikethrough idea is another good one, but I don't
    like the idea of putting in all those extra characters.
    What I ended up doing was using paragraph rules. I set the rule above to
    1pt larger on all sides than the rule below so it looked like a box with
    a stroke. Of course, the problem with paragraph rules is getting it the
    right size. I wrote a script that calculates the size of the text and
    sets the rule size the correct amount.
    Of course this still has its problems when the boxes need to break pages...

  • Problems creating a stroke around entire completed logo

    Hi
    Am currently having trouble finishing off my logo.
    I need to be able to do a stroke around the entire logo so that when i cut it out i dont need to go right to the edge of the design (as it is for heat pressing on t-shirts).
    Only problem is I can't work it out. I've tried grouping it all then trying to create one stroke around the entire thing but it still wants to apply the stroke to individual items.Then I tried putting a copied layer behind and giving it a stroke but because it is filled with black it changes the colour of the blue. tried filling with white, but it creates halo's and shadows in the background. Ive set the transparency to block out the black behind as much as i can to try and eliminate the colour change problem. But its still not right.
    So the question is, can i create a stroke just around the outside of my completed logo?
    Have attached a pdf with two examples. One without anything and one with the copied layer behind and filled black so you can see the colour difference.
    Any help or suggestions would be fabulous.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    If I understand your problem correctly, this should do what you need:
    Select and group the oval and the text. Keep selected. Go to Window>Appearance. On the upper right, just above the bar that says Group, you should see three short horizonal bars and a tiny triangle. Click on that, and a menu will open, one of the options being Add New Stroke. Select that. You will see the new 1-pt. black stroke appear under the Group bar in the Appearance palette. Click and hold the Stroke bar, drag it below the Contents bar. Go to the stroke palette Window>Stroke and increase the size of the stroke until you are satisfied with it.

  • Code for stroke around images

    I believe there is a code that will put a stroke around all
    images on a site. Am I right? does anyone know what it is?

    .oO(redstonegirl)
    >I realize this is not a solution because the problem with
    adding it to the
    >style sheet is that it puts a border around
    everything...including my spacer
    >images.
    Why are you using spacer images at all? With CSS they're
    hardly ever
    necessary.
    >I can figure out how to put the border up
    >
    > <img src="gfx/x.jpg" width="168" height="105"
    border="1"/>
    >
    > but I can't figure out how to change the color of the
    stroke.
    Forget that old 'border' attribute, it's deprecated and
    doesn't even
    come close to what you can do with CSS.
    What images are we talking about anyway? Kind of a gallery or
    something?
    If you want to apply a border to a couple of images it's best
    to apply a
    class to the element that contains these images and use a
    descendant
    selector to style them. Something like:
    <div class="gallery">
    <img src="..." alt="...">
    <img src="..." alt="...">
    <img src="..." alt="...">
    <img src="..." alt="...">
    </div>
    Then you can use a CSS like this:
    .gallery img {border: 1px solid #000}
    This would apply a thin black border to all images inside an
    element of
    the class "gallery".

  • When importing a raster into illustrator, how to create stroke around it?

    hi. thanks for reading this. i have an image of a lemon on transparent background. i used a high fidelity live trace and want to create a stroke around the entire lemon.
    when i select the lemon, it selects every single path even the ones inside. is there a way i can just create a 20 pt stroke border around the lemon easily?
    thanks!

    Trace a path around it, either in photoshop or illustrator, you then can either mask the object (thus be able to put it on a background of varying sorts) or stroke the path and use it as you want.
    Or if you mean the brocoli is on a transparant background and it's in a format like PSD where the edges of the document don't exist, only the edges of the non transparant objects, then you can try a cheat. Which is to add a drop shaddow or outer glow with no bluring and set to 0 offset on both axis. You can try adding extra drop shaddows or outer glows on to increase the effect, although I am dubios as to it's outcome will be anything like you want.
    If you cut this brocoli out in PS did you use a path to do that? If so you can copy that path into illustrator and stroke it as mentioned above.
    Regards
    Paul

  • Why do the strokes around my frames load slowly online?

    I have a website: www.libusedesign.com that I built in iWeb. A few questions:
    1. Why do the strokes around my little boxes take forever to draw online? (see website to see what I mean). The photos in the boxes are that size, lo-res JPGs (they are not too big). So, why is this? Is there a way to fix it?
    also...
    2. If I put a "shadow" on something in iWeb, it does not show when online. (and I am using the latest browers...firefox, safari)
    3. In this particular website, in my navigation bar, I have to make the text off center vertically to make it appear online correctly. If I have it set right where I want the text to be in iWeb, it appears off when online, therefore, I have to make it look bad in the iWeb program, just to make it look correctly online. Why is this?
    Thanks

    Try both and then download and run GraphicConverter in the demo mode to see what reduced file size it can create with both formats that will look good.
    Another method is to use the jpg format and use the freeware Resize! to resize it with the following settings:
    *JPEG Quality* = experiment with several to see which will give the smallest file size and acceptable quality
    *Proportional Resizing* = 100 Percent - this will keep the image size the same.
    I've seen some background images resized with the quality set at 20 (low) that looked as good as the original. However these were patterned images and might be too low for your use. That's why you can experiment with the quality level and see what size is acceptable.

  • Stroke around shape won't align to center!?

    When increasing the width of a stroke around a shape the stroke is not centered... WHY DOES IT DO THIS??? Even if I use the controls in the stroke window to change this it sill plays up. This has always happened randomly over the years but I have never figured out how to fix it. Please help!

    Also, check your stroke palette. Your stroke may be set to align to outside(see 3 icons after align stroke below).

    The stroke only shows up when I save the file as a pdf as I zoom in the line gets smaller and smaller but never goes a away.  In InDesign and on the PSD file the edges look fine just all white around the "horsefly" any help would be great. Thanks
