Stroke around text boxes??

Is is possible to give text boxes a stroke?? I am creating a announcement sheet and the previous way they did it was in publisher where they had a background and then a filled text box with a stroke around each one.
Thanks,
Cory

    How do we remove the rule around text boxes?

    Hi graphicscoordinator,
    There currently isn't a option in FormsCentral to remove the rule that appears around text fields. There is a Feature Request form where you can sumbit your request for this feature, however. Visit https://adobeformscentral.com/?f=XnF-KJVCovcEVQz9tZHYPQ.

  • How do I get rid of various lines around text boxes when using navigation panes

    How can I get rid of these various lines that are displaying sporatically around different text boxes . . . but only when the navigation panel is displaying?  I previously had the issue and changed the text box properties to no fill.  It fixed the problem in the document with no navigation panel, but once the navigation panel is displayed the lines appear.  And yes, I fixed the text box properties before creating the bookmarks for the navigation panel.

    Every device, browser and browser version has its idiosyncrasies.
    Just using a stroke and a drop shadow should not have been enough to require Muse to convert the page fill to an image. Were/are there also other effects on the page? Are the page corners slightly rounded?
    Bevel and Inner Glow definitely require an image to be created. Most other effects/properties do not.

  • Knockout stroke around text CS6

    I am working on a logo that will be printed on a canvas bag (hence the background color) and I would like the white stroke to simply subtract from the shapes behind it, almost like padding on a text box. I don't want to be able to simply see through it, I would like the white stroke basically to create a transparent stroke around the yellow text. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Katie,
    It may be better to try the following, then go through your present artwork to make sure that you have an equivalent structure.
    1) Create a grey rectangle (like the background);
    2) Create a smaller blue rectangle (like the underlying letters);
    3) Create some live Type (like the 2014) on top of the blue rectangle, you may keep it live or Type>Create Outlines;
    4) With 3) selected, in the Appearance palette flyout click Add New Stroke;
    5) With the Stroke selected (highlighted) in the Appearance palette, change its colour to white and drag it down beneath contents (adjust the Stroke weight if needed), then in the Transparency palette set the Opacity to 0, this will make it disappear;
    6) Select everything, then ShiftClick the grey rectangle to deselect it, and Ctrl/Cmd+G to group the rest, then in the Transparnecy palette tick Knockout Group.
    Not the stroke behind the text should knock out the blue rectangle so the grey one shows through.

  • Gray Box Around Text Boxes in PDF

    I've created a text box with a picture frame "stroke" (the one that looks like a slightly curled piece of paper). When I export the file to PDF and open it in Acrobat, in addition to the background graphic of the paper with the drop shadow, there is a faint box that circumscribes the actual text box within the graphic. This faint box does not display when I view the PDF in Preview (or in Pages). This happens in both Pages 08 and 09. When I print from Pages or Preview, the faint boxes are not there. But when I print from Acrobat, they are. Also, I've created the PDF from both the Share>Export option and the Save PDF option in the Print dialog box, with the same results.
    Is there any way to not have this faint box appear in the PDF when viewing it in Acrobat? This problem is preventing me from being able to distribute the document in PDF format to PC users.
    Thanks.

    I'm disappointed that Pages '09 still does this, although it may be because of Adobe's wacky way of handling PDF documents. I've posted examples of this on this forum before, but nobody was able to help. The line artifact isn't because of the text box, but rather the picture frame effect you're applying. These lines not only appear on screen in Acrobat, but print that way too.
    There is a workaround I use when I create Pages documents using graphic borders like the curled paper one you mention.
    Instead of exporting your Pages document as a PDF, use *Print>PDF>Save As Postscript...*
    The PDF button is at the bottom of the print dialog box, select *Save As Postcript* from the pull-down.
    Once your .ps file is created, double click it and it will open in Preview. Then save it as a PDF from Preview using *File>Save As...>PDF*. Open this file in Acrobat to check it, and you'll find that the border problem has gone away.
    One note: Upon close-up side by side comparison, you'll notice that your graphics aren't quite as crisp looking, like they've lost some resolution. But I've had both versions professionally printed at high resolution, and the difference is very minor. It's just that the original Export feature of Pages produces better looking PDF files, especially on Macs. Your PC users have to use Acrobat Reader, which doesn't seem to render PDF documents as nicely on screen.
    Hope this helps.

  • Simple question around text box action listeners....

    Hi, I'm hoping there is a simple solution to this question.
    What I have is a text box, by default it will be empty. what I'm looking for is Some kind of action listener to be kicked off when ever a user writes in the textbox......
    here is a little bit of code i'd "like" to do....
       textBoxBean.addPropertyChangeListener(new PropertyChangeListener() {
                public void propertyChanged(PropertyChangeEvent event)
                     if (businessTypeBean.getText() != null){
                         // do somthing
                     else{
                         // do something else
            }); The only problem is the the silly thing never gets called.....
    a silly question but, unfortunatly all this is change a tooltip and enable disable a button based on weather or not there is something in the textbox....... Sigh......
    Any ideas would be great.
    Cheers,

    But you do waste your time with the above.......... With the hope that you will actually learn how to ask a meaningfull question the next time.
    You still have people totally confused about what you are asking. Some people think you have an AWT based question. Others think its a Swing related question.
    Your question is about an ActionListener, but you code shows a PropertyChangeListener. It seems like you are asking about a Swing component, but there is a Swing forum for Swing related questions.
    We are not mind readers. Ask a well thought out question and you will generally get a well though out response.

  • Export indesign document to pdf white strokes around text

    Hello there, I have this problem, I am exporting an indesign document to interactive pdf, and the problem seams to appear, when I open the created pdf in adobe reader x, it shows some of the text with white outlines, and the text looks very thick. When previewed in indesign, it looks perfect, text looks crisp. I also opened the pdf document with apples preview, and in preview it looks fine! But in adobe reader it looks horible, I tried adobe readers on other computers, and they all show up with the outline. What causes this anoying issue? plase help, thanks

    We'd have to see the file to know for sure, but this sounds like a transparency flattening issue. Thickened text is indicative of it being converted to outlines, whcih can happen when it interacts with transparency. It's not clear if your white lines are around theindividual glyphs, or around the entire areas. The latter is also a common flattenign artifact called "stitching" that shows up on screen and in low resoution printing.
    The first bit of advice is to keep your text at the top of the stacking order, above transparency, shadows, and other effects. It sometimes helps to have a top layer just for text. The way to eliminate these artifacts 100% of the time is to not flatten transparency at all, which is possible in Print PDFs, but alas, not in Interactive.

  • Thick blue stroke line around object and text boxes

    After I unlock and ungroup, there is a thick blue stroke around text and object boxes. Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it? Thanks!

    Click with the selection tool on that object. The blue line will go away.
    Meanwhile, it's there to let you choose a "key object" around which you can align objects.

  • Best way to create frame with stroke around a paragraph?

    What is the best way to create a frame with a stroke around text? I
    always thought it was with an inline frame, but now I see that trying to
    put the cursor in the text is very difficult because the frame blocks
    the cursor. Is there a better way?

    Thanks guys.
    What I was doing was putting the anchored frame in an empty paragraph
    above the paragraph that needed the box. The problem was when I tried to
    put the cursor in the text the anchored frame blocked it. Why is an
    anchored frame on top of text?
    The easy solution would be to cut/paste the text into the anchored frame
    (which would be similar to Ole's single cell table idea). I didn't want
    to go this route for two reasons:
    1) I don't want to cut and paste every paragraph.
    2) I didn't want the story to be broken up. I wanted it to be one long
    flow of text. It makes tings easier just in case the paragraphs have to
    break across two pages.
    Jongware's underline/strikethrough idea is another good one, but I don't
    like the idea of putting in all those extra characters.
    What I ended up doing was using paragraph rules. I set the rule above to
    1pt larger on all sides than the rule below so it looked like a box with
    a stroke. Of course, the problem with paragraph rules is getting it the
    right size. I wrote a script that calculates the size of the text and
    sets the rule size the correct amount.
    Of course this still has its problems when the boxes need to break pages...

  • How to put a border around locked text boxes?

    I have a number of locked text boxes. I need to place a border (a box) around them. How do I do that?

    Govan,
    1. It's helpful to give a full and complete description of your problem when first posting in order to get a complete answer and avoid follow up posts.
    2. There's no need post the same answer twice.
    My answer: The stroke/line around a text box is all or nothing. If you want to eliminate the line between adjacent text boxes you'll have to draw a white line over the offending line to cover it up. Once this is done, select both text boxes and the line (using shift-click or command-click) open the Arrange menu and choose Group (or press Option-Command-G). This will keep the white line in place if the text boxes move.
    Good luck,

    Sounds like you have a stroke on it. Select the frame and set the stroke to none.

  • How to put boxes around text

    Hi
    I have a section of text that i want to put a box around as an outline
    I managed to do this using   the inspector - text - more - border and rules.
    everything looks great in the authoring tool in both orientations.
    However, When I preview the book on the ipad the boxes are perfect in landscape but the showv outlines for each line of text that ends with a carriage return.
    Is this a bug with the software...

  • Solved: InDesign CC: Problems with text in text box: text flows around invisible object

    I just upgraded from CS4 to CC. I have two problems with text in some text boxes:
    The text seems to flow around invisible object that I cannot find or delete. It's as if there is a photo or other object behind the text box; but when I press COMMAND-a to select all, I don't see any such object.
    When I move this text box, the layout of the text within changes. For example, when the box is high on my spread, the text flows correctly within the box; but when I move it down, it flows around that hidden other object. For another example, when the box is low on the page, the text starts at the top of the box; but when I move the text box up, the text starts somewhere in the middle of the box.
    I have checked margins of the text box and the paragraph options of the text paragraphs (margins, indents, alignments). They all look OK.
    If I modify the text box, checking the box "Ignore text wrap", then the problem goes away; but then the text also will not flow around a real object that I want it to flow around.
    Solution:
    There were objects in a hidden layer on that one spread. It seems that in CS4 when you "select all" you would also select objects in hidden layers; but in CC it doesn't.
