Stroke exporting incorrectly...help!

Hi all I have a problem and google hasnt been able to tell me the answer so i need some of your help please I have made up a background pattern for a leaflet I am doing. The pattern is a solid colour, then over the top is a pattern, made up by the pen tool in indesign, its a simple stroke pattern. The stroke was originally at 0.5. Viewing in indesign at high quality display, the pattern looks nice and works well with type over the top of it. However, when I exported the leaflet the pattern comes out much, much too heavy than it really is, making the text hard to read. I made the stroke 0.05 and still its exporting the same weight. When I print the leaflet off, it prints at the true weight of the very light 0.05. This wouldnt be a problem, but the leaflet needs to be viewed online as well. I have also tried making the pattern a pdf, then dropping into the background but its still doing the same. And I have tried exporting as hight quality print and smallest file size yet the pattern still looks very heavy on the PDF. I hope this makes sense! Please can you help? This, unfortunately, is a known display issue, particularly when using transparency. You'll probably see it in ID as well if you turn on Overprint preview.
It can be mitigated to a degree in Acrobat by turning off smooting of line art in the prefernces, but you can't control that on other users' systems. It might also help to export to Acrobat 5 or higher compatibility, but I suspect not.

Exporting to PDF, the letter t is exported incorrectly

Hello.
I have an winforms app developed in .net 3.5. Reports are made in Crystal Reports 2008. I have a problem when exporting a report to PDF. The application have about 10 reports, and all but one works fine. The report looks correct when displayed in the CrystalReportViewer, but the exported PDF is not. Some characters are displayed incorrectly. The letter 't' is displayed as 'tt'. But if I select the text, it selectes the two t's at the same time, as if they where one character. If i select and copy the text and paste it into notepad, the text is correct.
Not all t's are displayed incorrectly. All t's using the font Cambria are correct, all t's in the font Calibri turns into "tt"
For example:
In CrystalReportViewer the following text is displayed "lit"
In the exported PDF the following text is displayed "litt". If I select the text and copy it to another document, i get "lit".
I've tested the app on 4 different machines.
1. A Windows Server 2003, the exported PDF is correct here
2. A Windows Server 2008 R2, the exported is not correct here.
3. My development-machine, also running Windows Server 2008 R2. The exported PDF is correct here.
4. Another machine running. Windows Server 2008 R2. The PDF was incorrect here. all t's here displayed as "ti", so "lit" became "liti". On this machine I installed the very latest runtime (fixpack 3.3).
I looked in the GAC, and all machines seems to have the correct runtime installed (version 12).
I compared a working report with the report that is exported incorrectly, they both use the same font. Calibri.
Does anyone know what is wrong?

HT4028 Aperture IPTC Core Subject Code Exports Incorrectly to PhotoMechanic

Hello. When using IPTC core Subject Code in Aperture, what I type in exports incorrectly when read by PhotoMechanic Software. It seems to default back to previous Subject Code entries that are invisible on my end using Aperture, and can't be "erased". Anyone else having this problem, and please advise on how to fix this. I have contacted Apple tech support multiple times and they have been unable to resolve this problem.

Preview should be able to do this
In Preview you can see the field in the Inspector:
From Peview's main menu bar: Tools > Show Inspector.
Select the IPTC tab
I tested several images - when I set the IPTC Subject Code and exported the edited version as jpeg, the modification showed in Preview correctly in the IPTC Subject code field.
Tested in Aperture 3.5.1, MacOS X 10.9.1

Why does our Final Cut Pro Batch Exports incorrectly name sequence files?

Why does our Final Cut Pro 7.0.1 Batch Exports incorrectly name sequence files?
For example I can Batch Export 10 sequences one of which is called:
"899-006TL013 It's Not Your Fault 800-509-2875"
Then the output for some of the files are along the lines of:
"899-006TL013 It's No#61386E.mov"
I have seen this happen with 1-6 files or not at all... is it just dumb luck?
What is going on here and is there any way to avoid or remedy this issue?
We first thought having the render destination window open caused it but that was not the source.
Any ideas?

I've run into the same problem with FCP 7.0.2 when exporting from the sequence using File --> Export --> QuickTime Movie. I exported a file today called "BSP - 01 - How You Can Be Sure You Are A Christian" and it came out as this "BSP - 01 - How You Can#1630". This is getting to be annoying. I also need to name these files the length they are. I'm hoping someone may see this and have a suggestion (besides shortening the file name). It seems like I've also seen this on shorter file names, but at the moment I can't prove it.

3. No. DVD players can't play BluRay discs -- even if they are burned to a DVD disc.
4. 1080p50 is a perfectly legitimate mode for shooting, particularly if you're shooting video with a lot of action, since it has double the actual frames of 1080i50. However, your output video may or may not actually have 50p frames (or even be 1920x1080), depending on what form of media you're publishing as. The BluRay files that Premiere Elements outputs, for instance are 50i.

Can't Export please help

I am having a lot of trouble exporting my final project; I need to export it to a DV tape (North America), and each time i try it comes out slow and choppy on the camera, and always gets frozen on the same image while audio runs till the end. I followed the iMovie help, exporting it to quicktime in a DV format, but how do i get this final quicktime movie onto a DV tape? And is there anything i need to change with frame rates to improve tape quality?

Hi to all of you with export to cmcorder problems!
I, too, have had difficulty getting my iMovie to DV camcorder. Sometimes, everything works well, but if my movie is over 60min and I need to change the DV tape in the camera, I cannot get the export to 'Share selected clips' properly.
I have resorted to exporting to QT movie and then reimporting that movie into a new iMovie. If I need to just export the second half, I split the new QT movie into two parts at the place I want to begin recording the second portion. I then move the first part to the clips pane where it will not interfere with my exporting.
(If you choose to go this route but need more free space, you can delete the original movie once you are sure that the QT plays ok).
So far, this process has worked fine.
I think there is a 'bugginess' about iMovie 5 and its versions with the new updates of QT 7. I have never seen such jerkiness, stuttering of video and freezing on video frames. The playhead jumps over my transitions to the next frame or five, as if there is nothing in between. I can only see my transitions if I manually drag the playhead along over them. Thus,I have been unable to view my movies in iMovie after it gets up to over 1 hr. I NEVER had this problem before the QT and iMovie upgrades.
I have found that my subsequent DVDs look great and have no jerkiness. I save all my DVD projects as disc images and preview them in that form before burning. No problems.
I am looking forward to iMovie 6 to address these problems.
I have FCE HD, but have gotten so used to iMovie that I find it quicker for the movies->DVDs that I am doing right now.
I will probably change to FCE at a later time.
My point is that all the suggested 'fixes' don't always work, and until the app is updated and is BETTER, we all just have to try all the suggestions and keep posting so that we can all learn together.

This is often caused by a corrupted render file. You might try isolating it by the old technique of marking in/out for half of the timeline, then halving that, etc... until you find the offending area, then remove the renders for that section by selecting it and pressing ctrl-b, ctrl-b (that's control-b twice). This will disable/enable a clip and force a re-render...

Media Encoder is not producing sharp .mp4 exports, any help please?

Hi all, I've been trying for a while now to export my After Effects CC 2014 project using Media Encoder CC 2014 as a MP4 file. I've chosen 'match source' settings, VBR 2 pass with various bitrates (even extremely high bitrate values) but my video is still not sharp. I've experimented with making the frame rate also higher but that doesn't make a difference. I've also tried using the 'Maximum render quality' option but that also doesn't help.
In the 'output' preview, the images look sharp like in the original project. But I can't get this in my final file. Anyone know why? Thank you very much.
Here are my settings:

MPEG compression (h.264 is MPEG) has a limited color space, compresses color, and has specific frame sizes that are required. Also, your media player has limitations and scaling problems. So do web pages. Nothing is perfect. The green text against the bluish background is going to look bad when you throw in compression artifacts from color and the fringes around the green text against the white background are also color compression artifacts. The solution is to first, modify the design to colors that work. You have to be sensitive to the color requirements of the space you are working in wither it is TV, WEB, Print or any other media. Most of these problems are color compression artifacts caused by the limited color space and limitations of MPEG compression.
The best hope for a design like this test to work is to first, make sure that your output is a legal h.264 size, second choose colors that will work against white backgrounds, third render a lossless master and finally, use that lossless master as the source for your MPEG compression in AME. You also make sure that your media player is not scaling the video.
If you absolutely have to have the video 392 X 640 then you are going to have resizing artifacts with H.264. You either have to accept that or change design of the web page and the HTML 5 code for the player. You also need to consider HR displays like the Retina displays on Macs or 4K displays on Windows machines or the displays on new mobile devices because they are going to want to see video and images that are 2X as big as a standard display. You'll also have to code for HR displays in your HTML. If this were my project I would make the master comp the nearest 2X the size needed for a standard web page that was a supported h.264 frame size, carefully choose my colors and design with known limitations in mind, render a lossless master in 10 bit or better 444 color, then send that to AME for compression. The web page would then be designed and the player coded with the video size taken into consideration.

Cannot get some photos to share/export. Help

Four of the 75 photos in an album I am sharing absolutelywill not export or copy or email in any way, no matter what I do. A "forbidden" icon (a diagonal slash though a circle) appears in the edge of the photo whenever I try to move/export it. Help. When I put it in an email, the email is blank.

Try selecting photos in Organizer and creating a new album by clicking:
Share >> Online Album
Then choose new album and Photoshop Showcase
In the dialog use the link next to Already a member?

Internet won't connect because it says a PPP setting is incorrect help me!

Someone please help me! my internet will no longer connect. recently i downloaded a vpn client but it wasnt working so i uninstalled it, but not my internet settings were somehow changed. so everytime i try to connect a window pops up and says " a incorrect PPP option has been set, check your settings and try again." ive tried everything such as system prefrences, but nothing seems to work. could someone please help me to fix this problem?? is there such a thing as a system restore on MACS like there are on PCs?

12 GB imovie export , any help please ?

hi all, i was wandering if any could provide some advice about a current imovie task im working on
i have 120 mins of home footage shot in HD which comes to just over 12 GB's when exported, im looking to now burn to a dvd, yet due to the size i need to compress it to ever single or double layered DVD, Can any one advise the best method to do this or recommend software i could use to do this best ,

Same basic tenets apply. Toast will still have to convert your intermediate file to MPEG-2. You do, however, have much more room to play around in with Toast. It will convert the audio to AC3 which means more space for video content. In addition, it also allows the user to more finely adjust the video data rate to fill the DVD to capacity. A basic rule of thumb would be that the higher the data rate, the better the quality. However, the quality will never exceed the quality for your source input. What you want to do is use the highest data rate that will fit on whatever layer DVD you are using and still be within the player's capacity to process. (I.e., you want a data rate the has neither too much nor too little data per unit of time.) If you are familiar with the settings, you can do this manually or simply tell Toast to use "Fit to DVD Compression" option instead.

Export Column help, ntext data doesn't export as a usable file

Hello, I'm failing at exporting what appears to be blob data in a database. I setup a data flow task that is pretty simple,
OLEDB SOURCE

Source is sql server 2000 db in 2005 instance with mode (80)
Derived column is simple expression that parses a path and filename together
Export column uses the blob column (which is unicode text stream plus new filename), Truncate and BOM are checked
This process seems to work successfully, but the resulting files are garbage. For example, one is a .txt file when opened, it contains exactly the contents of the database column for this row which looks like this excerpt:

Obviously I would expect real text here. Can someone help me understand what I am not doing correctly?

I just went through the list, and tried several files, they are all garbage. a .jpg opened in paint can't open, a .doc file in word doesn't open, and .xls in excel doesn't open.
Contrast the two databases:
Adventure works Document column contains entries that look like this:

I used the same 2 files for each databases both times.
From what I can tell sql server doesn't know what the magic db blob data is. So how is the magic user interface making the attachments available to the end user?

Import/Export pdf help - about to return the program :(

I bought the program because I was told I can import a pdf and export it as a pdf/x-2002. I have read through threads and troubleshooting tutorials and I have not seen anything on how to do this. Please help! I'm about to return the program.

You can place PDFs into InDesign, and InDesign can export PDF/X3-2002, but if converting the format (without any editing) is your only goal, you may want Acrobat Pro instead. If you do need to edit the files, you should get the native files; PDF is meant as an end product, not a working file.

Lightroom 4.3 freezes system when I try export - please help me!

I am so tired now with this Lightroom
Almost every time when I try export all system creshes.
My computer:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9650 3,00 GHz
8 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4800
Windows 7 Service Pack 1
I wrote to technical support and got advice about instal Lightroom 4.3 (I tried it with 4.1, 4.2, 4.3) on created new user Windows, and nothing. I exported few photos and now again I can't export no photos more. And get still crashing system
Please help me...

And if all that happens is your system freezes without any error message and the only thing you can do is power it off, then I can think of a couple things:
1) If you have your phone plugged in to a USB cable attached to the computer, disconnect it. Some phones don’t play nice when they are connected as removable storage. Unplug any other USB devices to see if the Export starts to function, again.
2) Your computer may have a hardware or driver issue where installing new video drivers and testing memory are a couple things to try but otherwise it may be hard to diagnose.
Since it worked once, there is some hope you’ll be able to determine what is causing it not to work by repeated the process preceded the one time it did work, and then don’t change anything and try another Export and see if it works, and if so, then keep track of what you do elsewise with the system between the last time it works and the first time it doesn’t to see if there is some pattern.

InDesign CS5.5 - Adobe Acrobat export (incorrect master pages and crop marks)

Hi, I've recently experienced a couple of anomalies when exporting books from InDesign to PDF.
The first issue was that, on seemingly random pages of the book, the exporter suddenly seemed to interpret the crop marks incorrectly. The book pages would go something like: left, right, left, right, right, left, right.
The second issue was that the pdf didn't display the correct master page on one page of the book. The InDesign file has sections with slight grey backgrounds to separate particular sections of the book. One of the pages in one of those grey sections just appears as white (the text remained unharmed) in the pdf though the InDesign file is as it should be.
Any suggestions?

First issue: No pages are missing, the crop marks indicating whether right or left go out of l,r,l,r order.
Second issue: There is a background fill on the master page. I just checked and the attribute is fine. What's strange is that the first time I made this pdf and sent the book to print, this didn't happen. Now that I've reexported for a second print of the book it happened (the master pages haven't been touched between prints and the same print settings have been used). Is it possible that the exporter can just mess up?
