Stroke & Fill Issues, Illustrator CS5

I am unable to recolor or modify any stroke and lost all the color from the art.It's changed to simple black outlines now. When selected and recolored, shows no effect or changes in Illustrator cs5. Please Help!!!

Yes, there's the problem. All the previously colored parts are now by default changed to outline mode and when i select them to change color or any edit with the size it shows no change but only black outlines even with the color fill mode shown active

Issues Illustrator CS5 ink manager/file collection/rotating views

I work alot on food packaging in illustrator and have a few issues with CS5 that perhaps someone has a workaround for?
I need to be able to view effective ppi resolution on links and collect/package all links into a folder. These features are in indesign, why not illustrator?? It would make sense for the effective PPI/final output resolution to be displayed in the links panel like it is in indesign.
Man i wish they had included the ability to rotate the view in illustrator, would save a lot of neck strain on boxes.
Regarding inkmanager, i want to create a pdf for client proofing from an illustrator file that has 3 spot colours and cmyk, there is no option to convert spot colours to process in illustrator like there is in indesign. The spot colours are coming out black in the pdf instead of the actual colour.

Effective PPI of Linked Images: Although you cannot see the effective PPI in Links panel, you can find the effective PPI of a linked image in the control panel once you select the linked image
Convert Spot to Process: Spot colors can be converted to process in Illustrator, select all objects applied with spot color and then access Edit Menu > Edit Colors > Convert to CMYK or Select the Spot swatch in Swatches panel edit the spot swatch and make it process. These are alternate ways you can convert Spot colors to Process.
Spot colors should not be exported as Black in PDF, please report this issue to Adobe, before doing that please check whether Overprint Preview is turned on in Acrobat. You can check this Illustrator itself by place linking the exported PDF in new document and turn on Overprint Preview.

Strokes overlapping in Illustrator CS5

Hello,
I'm having a problem with the overlapping strokes in Illustrator CS5.
It's a bit difficult to explain but, basically, I need one end of a stroke to go beneath another stroke, but the other end of the stroke has to go on top of something.
Here's an image to show what I mean:

I want the lines of the neck to go behind the collar. But if I move it to the back, then the bangs of hair on the back will overlap the lines of the neck, which I don't want either.
Is there a way to fix this?

You could also set the black stroke there to the Multiply blend mode - that should do it.

Illustrator CS5.1 uneven stroke offset problem

I'm getting a problem in Illustrator CS5.1 that I can't seem to solve. The attached image shows the issue I'm having. I've set a 1px stroke on three identical boxes.
Top - stroke set to outside - stroke overlaps edge of shape unevenly, shape appears to extend outside itself on bottom edge
Middle - stroke set to center - stroke appears fine
Bottom - stroke set to inside - entire stroke offsets downward unevenly, no longer appears to be touching top edge of shape
Also, the shape keeps shifting on the artboard. Using Smart Guides, I'll anchor a point to a ruled intersection, it appears to snap, but when I release the mouse, it will jump a bit in a random direction.
Other shapes do the same. The stroke on a square or rectangle appears fine as a center stroke, but set as the other two options it randomly offsets
I've restarted my machine (2009 Mac Pro os10.10.2), deleted Illustrator's prefs, copied shapes into a new file, and recreated the file from scratch. Same error reoccurs. Any other ideas?

Sounds like an Align to Pixel Grid issue. RGB documents default to this, but it can be changed.

Font issue occurs when creating pdf file from Illustrator CS5.

I have some design files which are created in Illustrator CS5 and I made them as a pdf file using InDesign CS5 while I open the pdf file in Acrobat Pro 9 I have no issue with the file but my client is using Acrobat Pro 7 while they open the pdf file in Acrobat pro 7 junk characters(rectangular boxes) are appearing in it. Can anyone please look in to this and confirm is this a version bug or something else? It would be much appreciated if some give any idea to get rid of this issue.

Aside from the PDF version, but to follow-up to what David is getting at, you are likelythe fonts are not embedding. Because they reside on your system you see the PDF as it should be. Your client likely does not have the fonts installed.
Make sure your ID export of the document is including the fonts. If that still does not work, check to make certain the fonts you are using allow them to be embedded.
If all else fails, seeing how this PDF is for client review (I assume) have the PDF settings set to convert type to outlines. This gets you past the current dilemma as you figure out the cause.

Illustrator cs5 selecting issue in mountain lion

I'm having a strange issue using illustrator cs5 after updating to mountain lion. I have a line of text that I rotated and copied several times so it resembles an asterisc shape * (3 lines of type fanned out over a central point). When I select 1 line of type, 2 or more lines are selecting. It happens even if I try to click in an empty area of the file (white space). The kicker is that it even happens in outline view (even in the white space). Any help is appreciated.

Not sure what is happening, but a workaround might be to put each line of type on its own layer, then lock and/or hide layers you don't want to select.

Illustrator CS5/CS6 on OSX 10.9.1 - Issue with loading fonts.

I'm using Illustrator CS6 on OSX 10.9.1. Ever since I've upgraded to OSX Mavericks, Illustrator has stopped loading some of the document fonts even though they are enabled and available for other applications. I get the font missing dialog every time I open the artboard after a system restart. I usually resolve this by opening the Font Book app, disabling and re-enabling the fonts. This refreshes the artboard and the fonts then appear to work as normal. Initially, I suspected a compatability issue with Illustrator CS5 and OSX Mavericks, but after upgrading to CS6, I continue to have the same issue. The fonts in question are ttfs and these worked fine previously.
How can I fix this?

Do you use any third party font maangement tool?

Illustrator CS5 font issue

I know this is a quirky issue, but I'm hoping someone can help me solve it.
I just bought Illustrator CS5 for Windows last week. Prior to installing it, I had a full set of Myriad Pro variations on my system. Those included Semibold Condensed and Semibold Condensed Italic, plus Semibold Black and Semibold Black Italic.
After installing Illustrator CS5 with its default settings, the four variations above were no longer on my system. Opening older files using them in Photoshop CS4 gave me an error message that the fonts weren't found.
I see that Illustrator CS5 came with some fonts, including some members of the Myriad Pro family - but not these 4.
I'm wondering what happened to my previous fonts. And I'm also wondering where I got them originally. I have Photoshop CS4, InDesign CS4, Dreamweaver CS4 and Acrobat 9 Pro all installed on my system. But I checked the discs for all of those and these 4 faces weren't on any of them. I know I didn't buy them separately. But I can't figure out where I got them so that I can reinstall them.
Does anyone who why they would have disappeared with the installation of Illustrator CS5? And do these 4 come standard with some Adobe program that I may have installed but haven't checked?
I know it's weird but it's making me crazy. I've used these quite often and have several existing files that need them.

I was thinking the same thing about the legitimacy of the fonts. These are just a single .otf file download. I don't see those files free anywhere else, so I'm thinking they're either knockoffs or illegal downloads. But the .otf file properties say "Authors Robert Slimbach and Carol Twombly. Copyright 2000 Adobe Systems, Inc. Myriad is a registered trademark of Adobe Systems." I'm just not going to take a chance. Probably turn my computer into a pumpkin!

Tablet + pen pressure + illustrator CS5 issue

Hello all,
I just installed Illustrator CS5 and I can't get the brushes to recognize pen pressure from my graphics tablet (intuos3).
I have tried all the combos of brushes, strokes, etc. It looks like all the 6D options (bearing, tilt, pressure) are greyed out. Thus, the ap doesn't recognize when I am using my pen.
Oddly, the pen works great in Photoshop CS5.
I am working on Windows 7.
Any thoughts?

I'm with Todditron and the others with lack of pressure problem.
I'm on a Mac running OSX 10.6.6, with a Wacom Graphire4.
Pressure works in Photoshop CS5. In illustrator, pen works-making lines and scribbles as directed, but no variation with increased/decreased pressure. In the Brushes panel, I can double click on selected brush, opening an Art Brush Options window, and change width, roundness, etc from "fixed" to "pressure," but those qualities remain fixed, regardless of my pressure.
Wrote to and heard back from Wacom Help Desk. Followed their instructions..
"I would recommend removing your current driver by opening your Applications folder and double clicking on the Remove Wacom tablet icon or the Wacom tablet utility icon found in the Wacom tablet folder there. Inside that removal utility you’ll want to click on the remove tablet software button and then enter your password to remove your current driver. Once the driver has been removed you’ll then want to repair your disk permissions before installing the latest. To do this if you open your Utilities folder at the bottom of your Applications folder, in there will be an icon for Disk Utility that you’ll want to double click on. In the Disk Utility you’ll then want to select your Macintosh HD on the left hand side and then click the repair disk permissions button towards the bottom. Once the permissions repair is complete you can then download and install the latest driver for your tablet from our website."
to no avail. Tried the process again, restarting the computer after repairing Disk Permissions and reinstalling newest tablet driver. No go.
Wrote Wacom Help Desk again. Will follow up here once I hear back.

Illustrator CS5 issues after upgrading to OS X Yosemite

Hi, I upgraded to OS X Yosemite recently and since then
my Illustrator CS5 has started playing up. A few days ago I noticed it
was taking a long time to save and now it won't let me export files to jpeg
format. It crashes. Please help!

Adobe has a forum. I'd look there to see if others are having issues.
It is entirely possible that CS5 isn't fully compatible with Yosemite. Adobe's preferences is to push/support their subscription Creative Cloud, and making older software work is kinda counter to that. (and honestly I couldn't install CS2 on my windows 8 machine, the minimum compatibility was CS3 for Windows 8, so it's not unknown for Adobe programs to have a limited backwards compatibility)

Illustrator CS5 stroke weight problem

Hi,
I have a problem with my new illustrator cs5. So for example, if I make a box and I want to change the stroke weight to .25 (anything less than 1) it keeps changing back to 1pt, and I cannot reduce the size of the weight. I tried to reinstall it and the problem still there. What should I do? or how to reset all the setting to the original setting? I'm so frustrated right now.

[Help] Genius F610 + Adobe Illustrator CS5 = pressure issues

Hey folks!
So I bought Genius F610 (newest drivers from genius web installed), iMac OSX 10.5.8 and Illustrator CS5
Pen pressure is working in Photoshop just fine and in Illustrator it only works with Wacom 6D brushes with my custom made and predefined when I try to edit them it is greyed out as it is calligraphic brush also.
Can anybody help with this?

I had the same issue, Mylenium where is this notion of flaky emulation? Genius produce their own products, as it turns out my solutions proves that this seems to be an issue with illustrator where it directly supports only wacom drivers, which is obviously a software issue, it should support any pressure pen devices. Besides why does it work with photoshop ? perhaps adobe should directly support certain mouse products too then.
anyway heres the solution, make sure you have the latest driver from Genius,
Then just go to the wacom site and download/install the Wireless Pen Tablet: ftp://ftp.wacom-europe.com/pub/Mac/cons525-3_int.dmg
Tested on Mac OS Lion
With Genius G Pen F610
Latest genius driver, think its 2.8 for the mac

Acrobat presets in Illustrator CS5 causing issues

When I created my PDF presets in Illustrator CS5.5., they were working fine until recently. I have files that I save as PDF's in Illustrator CS5.5.1 and either place the files in our templates in Illustrator, or a simple step and repaet of one vector art Ill. file 2 up. The issue is when I view the files in Acrobat X and the files are shifted or the second image of the step file won't show up. If I go back into the master files and do another save as for PDF it shows the CUSTOM setting at the top not my preset, so I select the preset (i made) again and it will work. Is this an Acrobat issue or an Illustrator issue? I reinstalled Illustrator, and deleted my old PDF settings and made new ones and that seemed to help for about 4 hours, and now I'm back to the same issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's an issue with the shared PDF stuff in newer versions of Acrobat. There's realy no fix for this misbehavior, it's more or less a "hard" compatibility issue.

WHAT is it and why can't I delete it?

Hello, yes it is reproducing over and over. I look in the original artwork and there are 28. I did not save over the original art but “save as”. Worked on the new file for a while and now there are 47!. I copied all the content to a new blank, all colors removed, file and there they were. If I click on them can’t relink, won’t show a bounding box, no frame in wire-frame, no stray points. they are ghosts. Here is an image, to give a better visual of how they look in links panel.
