Stroke options suggestion

1. While it is a welcome addition to be able to select dashed and dotted strokes for vector shapes, this option should also be available for pixel based shapes. I can't tell you the number of times I've had to create dotted "strokes" by using the type tool with large periods and spacing them, turning them, rasterizing them, transforming them--a really convoluted procedure.
2. The "corner" function in the stroke style dialog is a little confusing. The icons are not self-explanatory, and clicking on one or the other seems to make very little difference. It is next to impossible to get all the corners to look the same and trying different numbers in the spacing field seems to affect corner behavior more than the actual corner controls.

Ok, here it is. Scripts have limited access to how strokes work, so it doesn't work in all cases, but hopefully it will help someone.

Where is the "stroke options panel" in Photoshop CS6?

Where is the "stroke options panel" in Photoshop CS6? It used to be right above the layers palette in older versions of Photoshop but now it's gone. I'v been trying to find it for an hour and a half and it doesn't seem to be in any of the menus.

If you're looking for the Stroke options of a layer, you can find that by clicking the layer you have a stroke on or wish to have a stroke on, and then clicking the fx icon in the bottom of the layers panel:
And it will open the Stroke options for that layer.
Another option is by clicking Edit at the top menu, and then choosing "Stroke..." (make sure you have a layer selected).
It will then bring up a window with Stroke options on it for that layer:

New stroke options for the layer style "Stroke"

Hi,
The new stroke options are fantastic where you can edit gaps, align and corners. And I love the ability to add layer styles to groups which makes it much easier to work with separate parts in a group that should be treated as a common object.
BUT! Why haven't you updated the stroke (layer style) options to include these new awesome stroke features? I would love to be able to make dashed strokes as a layer style that can be applied to groups, and I don't see why this should be excluded as an option.

Note: A shape layer stroke is a vector-based stroke and is applied only to shape layers. This is very different from the layer syle stroke.
You can control the settings for this stroke in the options bar for the vector tools (Shape, Pen, Path Selection, Direct Selection). This stroke is an attribute of the shape layer and will not cause the fx icon to display on the layer in the Layers panel.
A layer style stroke is a pixel-based stroke and can be applied to any layer that accepts layer styles (including shape layers). The settings for this stroke are controlled via the Layer Styles dialog.

The work path is a vector object, and infinitely scalable, but when you stroke it, Photoshop lays pixels on a layer that follow the path. These pixels are raster based and can not be scaled without loosing quality. You do have options. If you want to make the raster layer bigger, transform the work path and stroke it again. Or work at a higher resolution in the first place.
Incidentally, you can't stroke a Path with the Pen, because it is a Vector based tool, and stroking is a raster based function.

Text Stroke Options Unavailable, All Black Grads

Can someone explain to me why the hell I have no stroke alignment options available to me for text? See the screenshot below...
I am unable to select inside or outside alignment. Likewise there is nothing showing in the appearance panel for the selected text...
And if I add a stroke to the selected text from this panel I am presented with similarly grayed-out inside/outside alignment options. Moreover, if I try and apply a gradient to selected text it blacks out entirely. I've read elsewhere searching for a solution that I need to rearrange the order of the effects in the Appearance panel. Both (when showing) items like stroke and fill are locked, can't drag to reposition, nor can I select to duplicate to create multiple strokes.
There is nothing fancy about the text. Just straight type. I have followed suggestions to dump the preferences file and have done so. I have gone so far as completely uninstalling Illustrator including shared preferences and then reinstalling. No joy. I've also seen suggestions that the color mode must be in RGB (or CMYK, can't recall) which makes zero sense as that should not limit ability to be able to modify stroke or apply gradients. Regardless, the above holds true in both modes.
What am I missing here? It's pissing me off and I'm sure there must be something simple, but I've changed none of the presets from the re-install and I can't conceive of such fundamental operations being truncated based on a conflict elsewhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

In addition to what Larry suggested for the Fill, it is actually possible to have the stroke inside/outside: sometimes it is possible to fake what you cannot make (directly):
You may fake the inside/outside alignment as follows:
1) In the Appearance palette flyout click Add New Stroke (efter the New Fill so the stroke comes on top);
2) Set the Stroke Weight in the Stroke palette as desired;
3) Effect>Path>Offset Path by half the Stroke Weight (just the value ( + ) for outside, put a minus first ( - ) for inside).

CS4 Fill and stroke option in primitive shapes not showing wtf!

That sounds very odd. Are you saying the option is not in the
Stroke/Brush popup color menu (color chip) in the Property
Inspector?
Note: The option only exists for Strokes/Brushes.

Why does my phone only offer attachments to be opened in drop box and evernote, when before it always gave me the "open in i-note" option-suggestions

does the iphone 4 only offer 2 "open-in" options when dealing with email attchements?
mine used to always offer teh I-note option now it only offers evernote and dropbox- any ideas?

Sorry to just now be getting back to you, but with Thanksgiving and my granddaughter's wedding yesterday, I've been too busy and stressed to worry about my phone again until now.
Yes, I used the default email application, and the email provider is Cox Communications. Anything you can do to help would be appreciated. Also I was wondering if I should change to IMAP (from POP3)....perhaps that would help the problem? Don't know, as I don't know anyone else who uses IMAP. Your help, again, would be appreciated.

Xperia Z1 radio band mode change options, suggestion

Would it be possible to add in future updates more choices for radio mode?
Currently there is:
- Lte/wcdma/gsm -mode
- Wcdma/gsm -mode
- wcdma -only mode
- Gsm -only mode
I would want to see also
- Wcdma/lte -mode
- Gsm/lte -mode
Those modes can be choosed with 3rd party softwares and with other Android lte phones. Please make those options natively available. If possible it would be also nice to have possibility to disable dual Carrier -mode.

I will pass this on; however can you please elaborate on the reasons for wanting these functions as I don’t understand what would be gained by having such options.

Running Out of Space Iphoto 09 - best option suggestion?

We have 30,000 + photos and movies in Iphoto 9.
Do not have enough room on my IMAC to load new photos.
Have done the delete dance for a while now and want a permanent solution. Please help.
Are there temporary files that may still exist if my slideshow has crashed/hung? We often run a random slideshow of all of our pictures and sometimes it hangs.
We have our library backed up.
We do not want to remove the videos to some other place so they are not together with the event. Any way to move videos to another drive and import/reference them and not store on the hard disk?
How much and how easy is it to add more hard disk space on my old IMAC?
In total we will have 60k photos...

Move the library to an external USB or FireWire disk. Inexpensive, simple and fast.
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

There are C1E, HPET and SVM which I don't fully understand. Which one of these should I enable or disable?

Just to clarify - When I follow the instructions to "transfer purchases from iphone to computer" prior to updating my iphone the options suggested are greyed out. The Transfer Purchases option under Devices in the File menu is greyed out. Can anyone explain why its greyed out and how I can make the option available?

No.
Some stroke types are easy to make, such as dashes. Dots can be achieved using a round cap and a dash measure that begins with 0 (zero).
Multiple strokes are trickier. Use the Appearance panel to add a new stroke. You can offset different strokes to achieve stoke/transparent/stroke patterns or stack a white or coloured stroke over another stroke to achieve black/white/black strokes.
More elaborate stroke options are possible in Illustrator using pattern brushes.
As for corner effects, this is one place where Illustrator falls flat on its face. The only corner effect you can apply is a rounded corner, and the effect applies to the entire path, not corner-by-corner as in InDesign. Illustrator’s rounded corners also such for anything other than 90° corners.
