Stroke resetting to 1pt, Uniform Profile in Illustrator CS6 (with brush and pencil)

Hello!  This was not an issue in CS5, and I can't figure out how to change it in CS6.  I like to Illustrate with the Pencil Tool.  I set the stroke to width profile 1 (tapered on both ends) and the stoke to whatever makes sense for my current project, and it keeps changing back to Uniform and 1pt.  I have tried to get my settings to "stick" with the Pencil Tool and Brush Tool, and have had no luck.  The only way I can change the stroke profile is to do it AFTER the stoke is made.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

I tried this and it worked once. Now it is doing the same thing and the option is still unchecked.
Please tell us step by step what exactly your doing and what exactly doesn't work.

  • Sticky selection tool in Adobe Illustrator CS6 with Wacom Intuos 5 on Windows 7

To make things easier I've made a video to explain my issue, which can be viewed here:
    http://youtu.be/dtOEeJ2tGhQ
Just upgraded to Illustrator CS6. Sadly, my Intuos doesn't get along. When using the select tool, it doesn't 'release' the selection rectangle when it should (when the pen is raised). It does this when the pen is raised while moving. Then the selection rectangle 'sticks' to the cursor until, 1-the pen is lifted far from the tablet until it is no longer recognized, and 2-the pen is held perfectly still for a fraction of a second. This only happens in illustrator. It happens with the select tool and the direct select tool.
I've contacted Wacom about the issue, but I figured I should inquire here to see if anyone is having similar issues, or if a fix can be suggested.
I'm using the latest wacom driver (6.3.5w3) and Illustrator CS6 is up to date (16.0.3). Failed troubleshooting steps: disabling wacom touch tablet service, disabling windows pen & tablet service, trying different versions of wacom drivers, adjusting pressure sensitivy settings.

I solved my own issue.  I saw an article @ http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?19694-Spot-removal-tool-doesn-t-work-with-Wa com-Intuos-5-in-LR-5 that solved my issue.
    Step 1:
    Walcom Tablet Properties
    Step 2:
Click on Customize and change the default line graph from this:
    Step 3:
    To this
    Step 4:
    Click OK.
After that, my spot edit tool stopped freezing in LR 5.2 while i was using my intuos 5 pen.
Prior to doing this, I also did the procedure listed here:  http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8036
So it's possible that both need to be done in order for the freezing to stop.  I hope this can help others.

  • Illustrator freezes with Yosemite and new Wacom driver

I have a Wacom Intuos3 and have removed all the old software and preferences and installed the latest driver.  It took two conversations
with the Wacom Helpline and three instal/uninstals with restarts, but I finally got the tablet preferences to work.  Then Illustrator kept freezing up and acting wierd.
I've uninstalled the tablet software, but am sure missing my tablet.  Any ideas?

Was just on with tech support. I had a second monitor connected. when I disconnected it the problem went away. its a known issue with the resent Apple 10.10 update. they are getting a fix but no ETA. they had me uninstall and use a direct install link (Adobe CC 2014 Direct Download Links: Creative Cloud 2014 Release | ProDesignTools) ) to fall back to a earlier update of illustrator.

  • Firefox will not launch in any mode. I cannot open Profile manager to change to another profile. No change with delete and reload of program.

I've been using Firefox for years. Had this happen once before but was able to open the profile manager and change to a new profile. At this point I can't even do that. Suggestions??

[[Basic Troubleshooting]] has a "clean reinstall" section at the end that does not require you to open Firefox.
In any case, you should first take a look at the [[Firefox will not start]] article, which I mentioned in my first post. If that doesn't help, also check out http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser_will_not_start_up#Windows-specific_problems

  • Illustrator plugin with QT and/or wxWidgets - sample needed

I am trying to migrate my illustrator plugin from CS 5 to CS 6. Removal of ADM has come as a big blow. I am trying to find alternatives for the UI. Flash/Flex is not a good solution (It works fairly well, but there are other issues around it - installation, performance, interop between multiple UI, event based communication between C++/AS, etc, etc). Hence considering a C++ solution for UI  -- either wxWidgets or QT.
I don't have much expertise with any of these. Any tutorial/sample code will be highly appreciated. Particularly having to embed these UIs inside panel created by AI.
Also, any suggestion on whether to go with wxWidgets or QT will help. I am uncomfortable with the idea of QT drawing components by itself - i have seen java swing trying to do it and failing miserably; qt seems to be doing it better though. The other issue is moc and having to use custom build steps. I will still use it if the benifits against wxwidgets outweigh the issues. Not sure if wxWidgets can be embedded inside panel, and how to handle message loops, etc.
Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Illustrator - problems with language and zoom

    Hi guys,
I have Adobe CS6 Design Standard in polish language,
I have a problem - I attached the screen below.
I does not show properly polish names or words also I do not have options "place" in a File section.
Also - it zooms in other way than Photoshop and In design - to get closer in PS or ID I need to scroll down (Apple Mouse), in Illustrator I need to scroll up - it is really annoying... I paid for this CS a lot of money!
    Any ideas?
I have Mac Mini and IOS Mavericks

No, I am not concerned about the playback buttons. Maybe this pic will explain it better.
From my project. You can see that the picture is larger than the viewable area so that there is room for the pan to occur.

  • Can't drad psd file or image file to illustrator CS6; PC user, and there is no Font X plug-in

I've searched for the answers, but there is no "Font X" plug-in PC to disable, whatelse should I do?
I just install the HotDoor plug-in dimension tool, and it is too important for me to disable it.

You may be dragin to a locked layer.
Try enabling > layers palette >> paste remembers layers
This would fix that in most cases as Ilustrator would create a new layer one for your dropped image, since threre was no layer to remeber when using the place command (or drag and drop).
If thsi does nto solve your problem, can you let us knwo if file >> place is greyed out?

  • Illustrator CS6 trial displays "unknown error... [CANT]" then, error loading plugins Drop Shadow.aip

Bought new MSI laptop with Windows 8, I7-3630QM, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 675MX, 128GB SSD w/ OS, 750GB HDD Data.  Installed both Illustrator CS6 trial X86 and X64.  It displayed the above error.  Uninstalled, reinstalled both versions X86 and X64 together and separately, once on SSD, then on HDD, same error.
Uninstalled and reinstalled, all C++ 2005, 2008, 2010 and .net, same error.  Every time I uninstalled I ran CC Cleaner for all temp files and registry, and removed all Adobe profiles and fonts and any file existing on my computer with the name "Adobe" included in it.  Have reinstalled Windows 8 back to factory settings, tried all of the above again, same error.
I have no other Adobe products installed on this laptop, or any other products other than what was installed from the factory.  Virus software is Windows Defender only.
I have read all of the discussions that I could find in Adobe Forums and Google Search, tried them all, same error.
    So, now what?

You're expecting too much. If you're really looking for Adobe to get involved, report it as a bug and someone might respond:
    Feature Request/Bug Report Form
Other than that ask in the AI forum. You shouldn't keep your hopes up, though. That particular error is not that rare, but so far I haven't seen a clean solution. It's definitely a sloppy programming error where some function in some driver or DLL is called that is not part of a standard Windows install and without those specific components present, it simply fails.

  • Intermittent Bug when saving pdf files in Illustrator CS6

I save a pdf file in Illustrator CS6 with a specific art board size. When I open it in Acrobat the size is off. When our print's RIP's the file, it is off the same amount. I will re-open it in Illustrator and re-save it and just change the name, the artboard is then correct. This is very intermittent. It has happened on two copies of CS6. Both prograns are current with the updates. I am on a iMac running OS 10.6.8.

    Document size is: 36.01 x 98.12
I can open up both documents in Illustrator and they are identical.
We have been using these presets for a couple of years without issue. The problem started happening about 3 weeks ago on 2 seperate computers. We have not seen the problem with CS5.5 and earlier.

  • Illustrator CS6 crashing constantly

Maybe two of weeks ago my Illustrator CS6 started freezing and crashing every few minutes while I was working on any document (blank or artwork).
At this point, it's crashing every few minutes and sometimes even after I've just opened it. I've tried resetting the preferences with no success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated this has been extremely frustrating for me during work, thanks!

  • Surface Pro 3 with Illustrator CS6/CS3

    Hi there,
before I want to buy the Surface pro 3 I have a few questions. The main reason I want to use it for is to work with Adobe Illustrator.
    1) I've installed CS6 student edition on my desktop pc at the moment. Is it possible to use CS6 student also at the Surface by using the same license as on the pc.
    2) Can I use the pressure sensative of the brushes in Illustrator CS6 with the Surface 3 pen?
    3) If it's not possible to use CS6 on both devices, I have also the older Illustrator CS3 student edition. Has anyone tried to use this pressure option in the Illustrator CS3 on the Surface pro 3?
    4) Could you generally advise to use Illustrator on the Surface pro 3. I've read that the GUI symbols are very small. Has anyone experiences?
    Thank you so much,
    ktoffler

You shouldn't have much problems with the surface. The only thing I can think of is the issue of the higher resolution. Since illustrator is an older version is is lacking the features for higher resolution monitors. You may need to lower the resolution to make it easier to see and use. Other than that you should be fine.

  • Working with Multi-column text in Illustrator CS6 - highly irritating! How do I do the following ...

    Hi ...
I'm finding working with multi column\row text box ("table") in Illustrator CS6 really irritating and non-intuitive. Maybe just my ignorance but I can't find simple ways to do the following:
    1. Click in a different cell of the "table" to the one currently active. Cursor does not move to new cell. How do I move focus to a different cell?
    2. Begin entering text in an empty table - I can't get the cursor to appear, despite clicking inside cell area, on text box border etc.
Is there any simple way to perform these basic, simple tasks?
    Thanks
    Richard

In my quick test I was able to enter the text by beginning at the upper left of the box and clicking. When I entered the text it appeared in the first box. Then I was able to tab through to the other boxes.

  • Illustrator cs6 "this file cannot be found" problem when open file from network

I used to install the trial version of Illustrator CC on my desktop and then when the trial run out I decide to go with illustrator CS6 instead, So I decide to buy &
install Illustrator CS6 on our desktop and everything seem to be fine except
the problem is our .ai file is located on the network shared drive of the design team,
When we try to open the file from the network drive with illustrator CS6, it said "This file cannot be found"
    - we try to copy the file from network drive to our desktop and file can open without problem
    - if we directly double click the file from the network drive to launch the illustrator CS6 with that file. It's also fine, no problem at all.
    - but if we open the illustrator CS6 first and try open.. and then browse to that file on network, then "This file cannot be found" happen again.
    - Illustrator CS6 have no problem open file in the local harddisk.
    - Illustrator CC never have this problem open file in our network drive, try reinstall the Illustrator CC trial again and it can open without problem
    - I try using Adobe CC Cleaner tool to remove everything before reinstall the Illustrator CS6, still no luck.
    - Try remove the Adobe relate folder in user/user/Appdata and then reinstall, still no luck
    - Try right click and open with --> Illustrator CS6 , yes if we double click the file directly it's ok, but as mentioned if we open illustrator first then browse for the file, the problem happen.
Did I miss anything to fix it ?

the same thing happend to me,
in my office the same folder with hebrew name, I can open files
on my laptop the same folder with hebrew name, I cannot open files.
I know its about the folder because when I put the files in a different folder, it open them.
how can I fix it without changing the names of my entire work folders?
there must be a different between my two computers.
    thanks for your help

  • To open "Adobe Illustrator CS6," you need a Java SE 6 runtime

I get message when I try to launch a newlt installed version of Illustrator CS6 under mountain lion. Java is not on that machine but do I def have to install it or is there a way around this? Thanks

In case this may be useful for anyone running OSX Mavericks (10.9.3) and encountering the "...need Java se6 runtime..." to launch Illustrator CS6 message, I found the below link on an Apple support page tonight:
    Java for OS X 2013-005
I had already de-installed and re-installed Illustrator CS6, thinking this might solve the problem, but I was still getting the "...need java se6 runtime" message.
I assumed because the above link appeared to be for OSX Lion or Mountain Lion, that it wouldn't do me any good since I am running a newer OS (Mavericks). However, after downloading the "Java for OS X 2013-005" that's found via the above link I was able to launch Illustrator CS6.
I've been running OSX Mavericks for a few months and using Illustrator CS6 every day, and had never encountered the "...need Java se6 runtime..." message. What was different for me was, in the last 24 hours, I had the Apple Store re-install OSX Mavericks on my iMac to try to diagnose another issue. The "...need java se6 runtime..." message only started popping up since yesterday's re-install of OSX Mavericks.
I think I recall reading tonight that re-installing OSX Mavericks may wipe out previously-installed versions of Java, or at least this "Java se6 runtime" - whatever that actually is.
