Struggles with more than 1 device/computer using.....

I originally posted about issues i was encountering re regular drop outs in our internet.
These could range from beign fine for hours then dropping out to at one point dropping out every 3.5minutes
Its hell trying to get anything done.  We were told that there might be an issue with the box outside etc etc but nothing has worked after we reported a fault.
We are still encountering problems until i stumbled upon something which ive realised could be the main issue for these problems.
These problems i have seen since i moved in 3 months ago - they are constant daily and its hell at times to do work online or hold a facetime with people because the connection is constantly dropping out but on friday the computer was working fine, only 1 drop out in hours .......until my partner came home.  i was watching an online video and as soon as he stepped through the doorway, the connection dropped and began to drop every 5 minutes.
I thought this was coincidence .......until another night alone, my flatmate came in....turned on his computer......and the connection dropped once again and once again every 5 minutes, sometimes less.
Thinking back on all of the issues, they always happen at night time when both of us are in, we both use computers but often he is on his ps3 and im on the pc and i just realised that ps3 is connected by ethernet to the internet but again my flatmate confirms that it has regular dropouts and has also admitted its usually when im online.
With regards to my partner, his iphone connects via wireless to our wireless - my connection is off until night time or when im out so its not purging on the wireless.
Also ...and this is a test i am doing atm while my flatmate is at home.....are the results of how 2 computers are online at the same time - my results when he is not at home are nearly double.  We live in the middle of the city centre and i have lived close to here before and my internet was amazing with high speeds...
http://www.speedtest.net/result/2515235770.png
My flatmate doesnt do anything except go on facebook, whereas i am the one who plays online games so his connection really shouldnt be a problem.
As stated before, i have tried several different dongles as did my flatmate as i originally thought it was my wireless dongle.  when the connection goes down (and always goes down for 3 minutes) it brings up the standard broadband "can not connect to broadband" screen whereas the hub - centre icon for broadband always glows orange.
Is there a setting which might improve this - i know about channels and changed this several times - atm at channel 11 but its not made any diffence, the DMZ has been activated for PS3 connections for my ps3, firewall is default, configuration is set to allow my game warcraft priority...
Everything has been checked but unsure if there might be something im overlooking.
This is becoming painful to use now and pretty much unusable when 2 people are at home.
Any advice if possible

As you say that "broadband light always glows orange" when there is a drop out, then that shows either you have a faulty homehub or there is a problem with your Infinity line.

  • Sync with more than one computer

Is it possible to sync with more than one computer using the same Blackberry Curve 8310? I have a work pc and a laptop and I am using MS Outlook. I've tried syncing to both but the appointments all duplicate themselves. Is there a way to set it up so I can sync to both.

    Hello Keithj,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums
You can synchronize with multiple computers but there are a few considerations to take into account when doing so.
Check out the following KB article for more information:

  • Can I use iPod with more than one computer?

I have a 60gb iPod w/ color (4th Gen). On my laptop which is my home computer I also have all my music as well as on my iPod. I would like to know if I can put all my music on a second or even third computer so that I can access the music. Also, my girlfriend has a iPod nano. Would she be able to access my music if I put the music on her computer?

  • Apple won't let me sync with more than one computer

How crazy is it that Apple will not let you sync with more than one computer! I have three computers! One in the kitchen one in my room and one at my parents house. These are all my computers, but if I try to sync my iphone5! with my computer at my parents house itunes says it will erase all my data! I have legally purchased all my music, so I have bought the rights! which means I can have the same songs on mutiply computers.
I've seen posts like this before, so I know Im not the only one who knows that this is unexceptable! Apple knows too! So heres how we gonna do this, **** itunes and **** apple, they can suck it! I'm sick of Apple and how they try to control everything you do, with their limited youtube video capacity because they "dont allow flash".
All Apple care about is taking your money, otherwise they would listen to what their customers are saying. These posts are on an apple site after all.
Thats my opinion, vote this up if you feel the same way.
    Thanks

I understand what you mean.  If you would have a little more technical background to what is happening when you sync and iOS device, you would understand that the reason for syncing with only one computer is not to control you but is rather to manage the syncing.
For exemple, how would you manage to backup a device on multiple computer while some songs or apps are on your iOS device but not on the computer?  Copying them back to the computer would only result in what you don't want, keeping different iTunes library on different computer.
    The very best solutions for you is either;
Make one of your iTunes library the master with ALL your media files and use this one for syncing your device.  You can easily manage all your music using automated playlist (like one for all the music with an older date you would decide).
Pay for iTunes match and ALL your song (even those you haven't bought from iTunes) to be available in the cloud for you to stream directly to your iPhone.  This however have a monthly fee.
I agree that on one thing Apple is controlling; it's by not allowing you to extract songs from an iPod.  Giving home sharing now, that would solely restrict you from illegally copying music to others.  But again, you must understand that this limitation isn't to be powerfreak, it have been required to secure the music industries and make iTunes Store possible in the first place.
And make shure you active Home Sharing as it will give you full access (stream and copy over wi-fi from any computer and iOS devices) in between your iTunes libraries.

  • Synching with more than one computer and attempting to delete more than one

Rage is not the word. I have been having the worst time with this thing! UGH! 1st I have more than one computer that has different music on each, but this thing will only sync with 1 and delete anything from another library already added. CRAZY! Second I wanted to rip my cds to my computer without being connected to the internet and itunes won't recong the music added at a later time. I have to be connected to the internet for it to Id the music as I am ripping...CRAZY! Then I was attempting to delete the duplicated music that was not Id and it would only allow me to delete one song at a time...CRAZY! Is there a way to have this thing synch with more than 1 computer? Delete songs in a group and not everything in sight. If so how and if anyone has any remedies for the rest of this craziness I would be most appreciative. I took me forever to even figure how to get to the point to post this. I beginning to feel very sorry I bought this thing. I thought I could rip my cds, and use my work and home computers to synch with it. Please someone tell me I wasn't wrong for making this assumption. Will I be able to sych with other ipods? I bought this thing thinking I could was I wrong. I haven't even attempted that yet. I have an 80 GB ipod

"I have more than one computer that has different music on each, but this thing will only sync with 1 and delete anything from another library already added"
You can't "sync" that is automatically update an iPod from multiple libraries or computers. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
"I have to be connected to the internet for it to Id the music as I am ripping"
That's correct, iTunes (and other music programs) downloads the information from an online database that contains the details of many thousands of CDs.
"Delete songs in a group and not everything in sight"
Click on the first track you want to delete in a list, hold down the shift key and click on the last one, this highlights everything in between. Press the delete key
"Will I be able to sych with other ipods?"
What do you want to sync with other iPods, iTunes? You can't sync one iPod with another, you can only update from iTunes. If you are adding a second iPod for your own use, just connect the new iPod to your computer and follow the on screen instructions. It will update from your existing library. Depending on the size of your library and the type of iPod you choose you can have it update all songs and playlists, selected playlists only or you can manage it manually. • Can you sync Ipad with more than one computer?

I am just curious, can I associate my Ipad with more than 1 computer.  I have a desktop and a laptop both with itunes and same library.  Can I sync the Ipad on both computers without it totally erasing the Ipad or should I only sync it on one computer?
Than kyou in advance for the help.

In theory - If the libraries are identical, yes it should work. Keeping the libraries identical might become a little challenging. You may want to make sure that you always manually transfer purchases whenever you sync to each computer to make sure that all content is always being transferred into each iTunes library and I would think that you would want to backup each time you sync as well. And you might want to sync with the one computer right after you sync with the other computer so that all of your data remains intact in the backups of both computers.
You can always check by giving it a try and see of you get the "this iPad have been synced to a different computer" message and see what happens. If the message pops up, just cancel and don't sync.
However, I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you absolutely have to for some reason.

  • Can i use my ipod with more than one computer?

i synched my ipod with one computer, hooked it up to another and it says i can't sync with more than one library? it says i have to restore it but i dont want to delete my music off of my ipod, i just want to add the music from this other library

I have two different iPods and two computers. I regularly use either iPod on either computer.
First set the preferences so itunes will not automatically sync when ipod is connected.
Then connect the ipod and set itunes to manually manage music.
Drag and drop whatever content you want to the device showing on the left.
If this was the default setup, there wouldn't be all these posts about people losing all their music when they connect their ipod.
