Struggling to get a signal from my Midi Keyboard

I have Logic Pro X and a couple of weeks ago managed to successfully connect up by Korg Workstation to act as a Midi Keyboard so that I could access the library and play the sounds in real time  through the keyboard. I have just moved my studio to a new room and tried reconnecting and I am just not getting things to work at all now.
My method has been go into my Midi set up for my Mac and connect by Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface . I have tested the connections and the Korg is speaking just fine to the interface. I saw a video on Youtube where in Logic X it is possible now to access the external instrument via  a Software Instrument Track instead of an External Midi track + Audio ( as it used to be) . When I do that and replace the default electric piano  with an External Instrument it finds the Korg just fine. I have collaged the various windows below. This is what I did last time and it was successful.
I have the record button primed but am getting no signal - not a flicker of life on the  I am no doubt doing something really basic but I cant figure out what to do and its very frustrating that I have had this working just a week or so ago. Help!

The problem is most likely with your router.  Follow the instructions in the router's manual to reset it.  Also what security are you using?  If it's WEP upgrade to WPA.  The iPod sometimes has trouble with WEP "protected" routers.  I put "protected" in quotation marks because WEP security is essentially useless.  It can be hacked in less that 30 seconds.

  • My roommates' computers can't get a signal from my Airport base station

I just bought a used Airport Extreme (the round one) off Craig's List and set up a network in my apartment using Airport Utility on my MacBook. I've set it up with WPA, and I can connect to it. Works great....
Until my roommates try to connect from their computers. One is on a ~5 year-old iMac and the other is on a Thinkpad. Their machines can see the SSID but can't get a signal from it or connect to it. I've tried removing the password and unsecuring the network. I've tried resetting the router entirely and reconfiguring. Same story.
I know this is an Apple issue because their machines can connect just fine to our previous crappy router that was slowing down our connection (that was meant to be replaced by the shiny new (used) Airport). I've looked into the WEP / hex key issue mentioned on some forums (eg http://www.macwindows.com/airportpc.html#011408b), but I don't think that Apple/PC compatibility is the issue because one of their machines is an iMac.
    Help?

Hello amandalotti. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Per chance, do you have Access Controls enabled? (ref: AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > AirPort > Access tab) If so, disable it.
If not, I suggest performing a "factory default" reset on the base station to get it back to its original "out-of-the-box" configuration to see if this will help.

  • Cannot seem to get a signal from my router with my Ipod touch. Lap top and desk top are working fine.

I have been having trouble with my Ipod touch getting a signal from my 2wire router. This is an easy set up for lap top and desk top. Now I can't seem to get the internet with my ipod. I can get the a signal with my wife's ipod 3rd generation with no problems.  My old ipod i purchased in early 07. I can get a signal at the local McDonalds or Starbucks. Just not at home. Does anyone else have this problem? I ran the reset as prescribed by apple but have been unsuccessful.

  • Trouble recording on garageband from a midi keyboard??  Help please

When I am recording onto garageband from a midi keyboard, if I play more than one note at a time, the entire program goes crazy and makes crazy sounds and sustains notes way longer than I intend them.  I cannot figure out what is going on?

I have the exact same problem.  endless sustain and all the notes blur together on track.  Just posted the problem.  I dont know the fix.

  • How LabVIEW get interrupt signal from microcontroller

    Hello,
I try to write a LabVIEW program to test PC Oscilloscope using microcontroller and parallel port.
The program will triger the microcontroller and wait for the interrupt signal from the microcontroller.
Then read the data and show the display.
I defined my ECP port as bi-directional and IRQ enable.
The problem I faced in here is how to get interrupt service in LabVIEW 5.1 without DAQ board.
My computer's IRQ is 07 and I would like to control interrupt service by using parallel port.
    Thanks in advanced.
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
I was very interested looking for possible answers to your question - no feedback from other people - o.k.
I think, that I have some experience with LabVIEW and
the use of printerport on different operating systems (Win9x,WinNT,W2k). But I would solve your problem with
polling of that "filtered" bit on printerport. If some- body has a better idea - let me know. If you have questions about interfacing @ printerport - please write to: [email protected]

  • Recording from a midi keyboard to a Mac Pro

I am planning to get a Mac Pro and I have a midi music keyboard with a typical midi plug that fits the gameport connection on a soundcard.
How would I connect this to a Mac Pro to record music with Garage Band?
Currently, the midi keyboard gets its power from the PC computer that I connect it to, in case that affects the situation for any advice given.
Thanks a lot for any advice.

    Thanks for the welcome BlayZay!
I actually already have a gameport to usb adapter that I use for my joystick which came with a gameport connector but it's easier for me to connect it to the front USB on the PC when I feel like playing games and I leave my midi keyboard permanently connected to the gameport interface of my soundcard.
Do you know if the USB connection on a Mac Pro would send power to the midi keyboard to allow it to operate when connected to the Mac?
    Thanks.

  • Where can I found hardware to get analog signal from VCR and work with labview and then sample this signal in very high frequency?

I am trying to build a Digital Video Recorder using Labview. The problem is that I found that Labview sample the signal in the order of milisecond. I wanted it to be in the order of microseconds. Also I am looking for a cheap Hardware solution if it is possible

Your question does not make a lot of sense to me, so I will just point out a few things.
    1. The PCI-1411 works well with VCR signals. It has a BNC connector as well as a S-Video connector. The price is under $1000, so it is fairly reasonable. The amount of time you save getting it to work with LabVIEW is worth any extra cost.
    2. The PCI-1411 is sampling three colors at 30 frames per second, with an image resolution of 640x480. This is the best resolution you are likely to get from a VCR signal. The sampling rate for each byte in the image is about 28 MB/sec. This is in the microsecond range that you are looking for, I think. If you are only interested in the raw signal instead of the image, you could look at the high speed digitizing boards NI sell
s that acquire at higher rates.
If this information isn't really what you were looking for, perhaps you could clarify your question.

  • Just bought AppleTV and I'm getting 'No Signal' from Sony KDL TV

So I got an AppleTV (new) for Christmas and I'm attempting to hook it up to my Sony KDL tv using this cable (http://www.amazon.com/Aurum-Flat-Ethernet-Certified-Available/dp/B004LTQS1G/ref= sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1362340327&sr=1-1&keywords=Aurum+Flat+Series+-+ High+Speed+90+Degree+%28Right+Angle%29+Flat+HDMI+Cable+with+Ethernet+%2825+FT%29)
I'm getting a 'No Signal' screen from the Sony TV even though the TV recognizes there's something in the port.
    I've tried:
    Hard setting the AppleTV
    Switching HDMI ports
    and still nothing.
    What do I do?

    Check this guide:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1551?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Specifically:
If your TV screen appears fuzzy or black (you see no video)
Make sure the television you are using supports the Apple TV resolution requirements. Please see the Apple TV technical specifications.
When you connect power, check to make sure the LED turns on. If the LED is not on, then verify with a known good power outlet or connect something else to the outlet you're using for Apple TV and make sure it works (such as a lamp or clock).
Make sure you're using the correct video cables and that they are connected firmly to Apple TV and to your TV.
Connect the HDMI cable directly into the Apple TV and your television, remove any third party devices or adapters.
Make sure the input setting you've selected on your TV matches the input you have your video cables connected to. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.
Change the Apple TV resolution by pressing and holding the Menu and Up button for six seconds. The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals. Pressing the Selectbutton will immediately cycle to the next resolution.
If you are connected via HDMI, try unplugging and replugging your HDMI cable.
If HDMI isn't working on an Apple TV (1st generation), try component cables instead (and disconnect the HDMI cable temporarily). Read more about HDMI vs component video.

  • How to get a signal from the serial port to start a labview program?

I need to synchronize the data obtained from a program (which is not in Labview)with the data collected with Labview on a different computer. I can send some data strings to the serial port of the computer running the Labview program when the other program starts. However, I need to be able to read the trigger in my Labview program. Do you know what I should do? Thanks.

If you don't have any other programs listening on the COM port, you need to let a LV program run BEFORE the signal comes, otherwise you won't be able to read it. You can have the program wait in a slow timed loop so that it doesn't use up too much CPU time, and when the required "trigger" comes, to move into the main part of the program.
You basically need a while loop waiting for a certain string in the serial buffer. Once the string is found the while loop is exited, and the data acqquisition or whatever else you require from the progam can be performed.
In the example attached the program wait for ANY text to be sent to the COM port. Please note that you need to configure the VISA resource before using it. Once there is something at the COM port, the loop will exit and the rest of the program will be executed.
    Hope this helps

  • I cant get a signal from my line in when I connect my guitar directly into the input jack

I have several electric guitars. I set the GarageBand (and system preference) settings to the "line-in input" in garage band and have plugged my guitar directly into my MacBook Pro using a regular guitar cable and a reducer to fit the laptop input. I have had no luck getting any sort of signal out of this. When I spoke with the guys at the Genius Bar they said I should be able to plug right in. I think I may need an amplifier or something because I don't think any juice is getting to my pickups. Is there something I am missing?

Your pickups don't need any "juice" to work, but still your signal might be too low for a decent recording. Apple keeps advertising that you could just plug your guitar into the computer, but it doesn't work for most people. Try to run your guitar through anything that amplifies it - a pre-amp, for example, or your stereo.

  • Just upgraded to FCP 5.1 and get no signal from Panasonic DVX100

    Hello all.
I am an experienced FCP user. Just did a fresh install of 5.1 and now I get no connection with my dvx100 (the original not the "a" model). I get remote control, meaning when I go to capture I can play, rewind, etc, however FCP sees no image and I cannot import or export to/from video. When I startup FCP says it cannot locate the exterior device firewire NTSC 720x480.
What is going on? Is this camera no longer supported with FCP 5.1? It worked fine with 4.1.1
    Please help!!

The problem most commonly is the Quicktime installation becomes corrupted in some minor way during some upgrades. A full quicktime reinstall most often solves the problem.
    Heres how:
Go to /library/receipts and delete any files that say Quicktime followed by a number e.g. Quicktime703.pkg
Go to the Apple quicktime site and download the appropriate version of Quicktime to your hard drive.
    Run the Quicktime installer.
Repair Disk Permissions for your System Disk (Disk Utility > Select the system disk > Repair Disk Permissions)
    Reboot
    Good luck.

  • Can't get wireless signal from Airport Express

I recently bought an Airport Extreme and Airport Express. The base station is in my office which is separate from my house so I bought an antenna from Macwireless.com. I'm able to play iTunes thru the Express perfectly but there's no wireless signal coming from the Express to connect to the internet. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this?
After reading some other posts I found that my old wireless system wasn't acting up at all. It was Mac OS X 10.4.10. causing the disconnections to the internet. Great. Just great.

I'm able to play iTunes thru the Express perfectly but there's no wireless signal coming from the Express to connect to the internet. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this?
If you have the Express and Extreme in a single Network there will be only one available network name to join. In that single wireless network the Express can be set up to extend range of network by using WDS, or simply as a wireless client that can print or use iTunes. If you check the Airport Utility help files it will give full documentation on how to set up either type of wireless network.

  • I cannot get a signal from my MacBook Pro to a Samsung T220HD using an HDMI cable

I was in the Apple store to see how to improve the resolution on my Samsung T220HD, which I had connected to my MacBook Pro using the PC cable and an Mini DisplayPort adaptor.  The staff recommended I buy a Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable instead.  I've plugged the new cable in, and the Samsung display reads "Check signal cable".
I don't have another cable to test it; am I doing something wrong?

Mini Dis[playPort cables have a lot of contacts, and require a lot of force to seat properly. Push until all the metal part of the plug disappears into the jack.

  • The best way to learn labview to get 32 signals from thermocouples? p.s I`m a beginner

I have to set the labview program for the fatigue test of the seal by using the thermocouples. I`ve just studied labview for 20days by myself. The test`ll be in high pressure, speed and temp. I am using pci6031e DAQ, BNC-2090, labview 6.02 .
Could you...? any advice`ll be a great .
    thank you.

I just wanted to mention. Make sure you use "Convert Thermocouple Reading.vi", which is located in:
Function palette -> Data Aqcuisition -> Signal Conditioning
This vi is sometimes overlooked. It can simplify a lot your project.
Other than that, look at the following page:

  • Cant get a signal from thunderbolt port to HDMI

I cant make the thunderbolt to HDMI addapter work. Any one knows how to see the external screen?

You can see if the Mac recognizes the monitor in System Preferences > Displays.  There will be an "Arrangement" tab that appears when a second monitor is detected.  Options can be selected there.
