Struggling with the language as a whole.
I'm in college and studying Computer Science. After a full semester studying Python, I feel good enough to do a bunch of different things with Python. I am now in a Java only CSC course and I'm just not understanding the concepts. When our professor shows us what certain things to, it makes perfect sense. However, later when I try to do the same thing, I can never remember how to do so. I am starting to really fall behind and don't really know what to do at this point. Should I try studying a book alongside my class? If so, what do you recommend?
I started with Java in a Nutshell, although I don't like O'Reilly books in general, but remember that prior to that I already had a strong programming and OO background. I don't think I'd recommend it to a CS student, or anything with +21 days+ in its title either.
I stopped using the Nutshell after a few months and spent the next couple of years with both volumes of The Java Class Libraries open on my desk, and the JDK class poster on the wall. People used to come in to my room to stare at it; I spent a fair time doing that myself. For the last 10 years I've just kept browser 2-3 tabs open, one to the Javadoc, another to the specifications, and another to the specific specification I'm looking at.

"iso spanish" is a keyboard and has nothing to do with the language of your windows, only for typing.
But if you have Español at the top of the list in system preferences/language & text/language and everything is in English, then like Frank said you should reinstall your OS. -

Please help me! I am struggling with the mesh tool!
So I want to make this chair look like it does in the picture, but I cant! There is a chapter in my Illustrator CS3 book explaining how to use gradient mesh and mesh tool, but it doesnt help me at all. I am clueless! The tutorial says that I can create points in the mesh simply by clicking with the mesh tool within an object, but when I try to do that, the pointer is "crossed out". I can only add extra points on lines or edges, but not on empty space within an object. What gives? Why is it that others can do it an I cant? Forgive me if I sound a little too upset, but I've been struggling with this for days and I cannot find an answer.
In this tutorial right here: http://www.layersmagazine.com/illustrator-gradient-mesh-tool.html the guy just clicks in empty spaces creating intersections. In my case it is impossible.
PS: Please look at an attached file and tell me what would be the best way to go about coloring this chair. Maybe I am doing this completely wrong? (I only started learning illustrator about 5 weeks ago)
Sorry for the background template being of poor quality, but this was taken from a book and scanned, so it's the best I could do.You know something I think there should be a behavioral change in this case. To my way of thinking this option should automatically be disabled if you select the Mesh tool. If for some reason you want the mesh tool not to behave the way there might be a toggle or a double click to get the preferences for the tool 's behavior itself. I can see where this behavior can be useful but there needs to be a toggle.
Selecting the anchors for adding color with out accidentally creating a new mesh division is good thing but you need to be able to work both ways.
What do you think Scott Weichert you use the tool extensively, am i wrong? -
Problems with the language in the menu bar
I have a G5 PPC 970 (2.2) OSX10.3.9
The language selected in the Preferences System (International) is the Spanish
When I am on the desktop menu bar appears in English (File, Edit ...).
If for example I click on File its appears a submenu with texts in English and Spanish.
If I click on System Preferences language that appears is Spanish.
I upgraded the system with MacOSXUpdateCombo10.3.9.dmg and the problem continues.
What can I do?

Problems with the languages in my windows
I have made an aplication that uses some windows. In these windows appears some buttons. My problem is that the words in the buttons appears in english in some computers and in spanish in others. How can I do for set the language in spanish?
For example, in some computers is written "Aceptar" and in others "OK".

Also, it's having a problem it had before in that it's not going to sleep when I go to apple menu -> sleep. It takes either a few tries or it takes a little bit to go to sleep.

Problem with the language on certain apps
Hello,
I just restored my iPhone. After I open the phone at the first time after I restored it, it asked me what language I want to use on my phone, in a mistake I clicked chinese. Then I clicked go back and chose my language, and I did the process to set up the phone after the restore.
I downloaded some apps but some apps is in chinese and some apps in the right language they should be(for example Facebook, Quickoffice and Skype is in chinese. Google, Google drive and ebay in the right language). What do i need to do to fix the problem? I need to restore again?

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Struggling with the page view of my link
Hello -
I made a 64 pg PDF with a Table of Contents that links to pages.
at the top of each page is a link to return to the TOC.
But when i return to that page, it only shows a portion of the page.
I can drag the marquee box in the page thumbnail version to encompass the whole page, but this will become very tiresome for the users i'm hoping will use the document.
I've looked all over and can't figure out even the correct question to ask (succinctly) as i search for an answer.
I've tried Page Display in Preferences... that didn't help.
So, i'm turning to 'the community'
If anyone has any suggestions, i'd be ever so grateful.

Luckily, i also figured out that i don't have to recreate the links, but in the Link Properties, can edit the action to FIT PAGE instead of zoom to Custom. So it was a bit less of a task. b -
Struggling with the Submit Form

Just signed up for MobileMe. Had a little difficulty setting up iCal but eventually got everything working. Whether posting to iCal on my Mac Book or iPhone, sync seemed to be working fine for about a day. Then suddenly when I opened iCal on my Mac Book, I would receive the following iCal error message:
"The calendar https://cal.me.com/calendar/calendar/principals/users/1.1117025442/ was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct." I know where it is located but because I did not enter the URL when I set up MobileMe/iCal, I don't know what the correct URL should be.Mike,

I am connected to the internet but it keeps on dropping all the time, same with my email accounts. Other hardware is running well without any issues. I have gone through the Wi_Fi faultfinding tree but still the same. I have also spoken to a Apple sales consultant in the store that suggested the software be reloaded which could be the case but I doubt. Any ideas?????

If you are talking about using the beta version of ADE 1.8, then you will have to wait for the release version, as the beta version is only available in English.

i have included a VI to explain my problem that's how my application is build only then a lil more complicated but i left it to the basics since i can't share my full VI. The case is that if you press start the program should start and load a movie however if you either go to the other tab or when you click 'start' again the program should close the IMAQ file i just get strangled by the fact that i have no clue which loop to stop and where to close the video. Help would be greatly appreciated

I think having two parallel while loops in this case doesn't seem necessary (and should be avoided).
As you said, you want to close/stop the video "stream" in the first tab when you open the second Tab (and probably also the other way around).
This would mean that you'll have to use a "framework" that allows you to have several states and can detect a change between tabs, correct?
The easiest way to implement this is by using a Design Pattern as starting point.
Can you make a flow chart that fully explains what the requirements are of your program?
This will allow you to choose the right design pattern.
If you are not comfortable with flowcharts, then a more complete description of the requirements would allow me better to guide you to an appropriate "framework".
Based on the current requirements a simple state machine could maybe do the trick, but this of course depends on the additional (not yet mentioned) requirements you might have.
I'm asking this especially because you refer to a "more complicated" top level application.

Making a self starting DVD with no menu
Is there any way of creating a DVD with NO menu in iDVD? Dragging the video file to the top level drop box in map mode creates a self start but then a menu appears when playing finishes.
