Stubborn End of Song Marker

I divided a file/song into multiple regions using the "Split" command in the Edit menu, then saved each split region as a new file for burning tracks onto a CD. However, when I move the End of Song marker (the sideways purple triangle) to the end of the new region, it pops back to its original position, even after I do a save after moving it. This leaves about 50+ minutes after the region has played that there is silence.
For example, when I burn to a CD, I can only get one created song onto a CD because when exporting, it thinks it is a 60 minute song.
I've tried saving as a different file, copying and pasting into a new file, creating new tracks and moving the audio to the new tracks. Nothing works. I have done this with other songs with no problems. Any suggestions?

The EOS marker does strange things sometimes. Use the cycle region ("yellow ribbon") to exactly mark the section that you want to export!

  • Re: end of song icon when editing in GB-track markings

    Strange thing--I followed the Bullets & Bones'Converting LPs to iTunes article through to making the split on the track, created a New Basic Track, selected its Solo button, and dragged the track to the new track. But the end of song marker (EoS) didn't appear! So, when I sent the track to iTunes, the entire recording was sent instead of just the track I wanted. I had made sure that I clicked the right thing and moved the playhead out of the way, but that little purple triangle didn't appear.
    Is there something the article (a very good one, BTW) forgot to tell me?

    The End of Song marker probably still sits at the rightmost position it had (it doesn't move left if you shorten the song). So drag it back in, or even better, use the yellow cycle ribbon for finer adjustment.

  • How do I mark the end of  song?

    I have taken parts of a song from iTunes and added a voice-over to it. I created a fade out for the last part of the song, and using Share, exported the song into iTunes. My mp3 in iTunes has about 4 seconds of silence at the end of it. How do I eliminate that? I thought that went the fade went to the bottom and I clicked stop, that the file would end. Is there a marker (or something else?) in Garageband to drag to indicate exactly where you want the track to end?
    Joe

    technically, the EoS marker should end a song ( http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#eos ), but it's been a little flaky between versions, AND for some users, so while that too is in the FAQ, i only point to it if someone asks about it specifically. the "exact Length" entry is the most solid (and at least somewhere, in at least one version of the help text, it does appear. i haven't trolled the latest help file to know for sure if it's there or not)
    glad it helped, enjoy.

  • FTP receiver adapter - end of line ,marker

    Hi,
    i'm facing a really strange problem. I'm putting a file on  a FTP server from one of our customers. i'm using text conversion with CR* LF** as end of line marker.
    In D and Q where i'm putting the file on our own FTP server everything is ok.
    But in P where i'm putting the file on the customers FTP server they are complaining that their application can not read the file. They sent me a file back (zipped to avoid any translation) and i recognized that this file has CR CR LF as line separator.
    The setup in D,Q and P is exatly the same apart from the ftp server address, userid and passwort.
    How can it come that i'm getting an additional CR and is there any workaround for that?
    CR = carriage return = '0x0d'
    LF = linefeed = '0x0a'

    Hi,
    thx for the answer. I've tested that but i cant see the a difference if i use '0x0d' versus '0x0D'. Both are working on our own FTP server (linux) the same.
    As the productional FTP server is one of out customres and i dont have control over it i guess its a (weired) setup on their configuration.
    I swithched the transfer mode from text to binary to avoid the additional CR (still i dont understand how the ftp server is configured if he is doing that),
    Nevertheless, i'm no havong a file terminated with CR LF.

  • Reading a copy 'end-of-file' marker using TEXT_IO

    Hi
    I am using TEXT_IO to read a file, but the in the file there are special characters such as
    ,' ' which I think are "end of file marker" 1A hex, which 'COPY' adds to the end of and ascii copy.
    I'm using Oracle forms 6i, and when reading the above characters it raises unhandled exception ORA-01403, even though it hasn't reached the end of file.
    Can anyone help or advaise a way to avoid this problem?
    Thank You & Regards
    Begum

    One method is to save your data using the "write to spreadsheet file" vi, using whatever delimiter you choose (usually either comma ro tab char). This gives a file that can be opened with a text editor or Excel, and consists of rows of "numbers" seperated by the delimiter with an end of line char at the end of each row. When read back in using the "Read from Spreadsheet file", you can define how the values will be interpreted, either as numbers or as characters. The read data will be returned as a 2D array. This array can be indexed, either by autoindexing with loops, or by explicitly indexing to retrieve specific values (A[2,7]) and the returned values used however you wish.

  • Beginning-of-Song Marker?

    I deleted some measures in the beginning of my song, and wish to eliminate the space there.
    So, I'm looking for either:
    1. A "Beginning of Song" marker that I can just drag right up to my first note of music, or
    2. A way to select everything, including all the volume adjustments, so that I can drag it all back to the beginning, in one fell swoop.
    Can anyone help me with this?

    yes, in GB 3 or lower adding the curve points should be teh step after arranging.
    if it's too late, this may help:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/Tutorials.html#bsqmovingcurves
    also, GB08 allows one to lock automation points to a region.

    I would love that feature. I can't stand useing my computer with a single wall paper anymore (I have 500 anime pics that i rotate between every 2 mins ) If you could make the vision rotate background every x minutes or every time the player is turned on, it would be totally amazeningly sweet!!!! I just hope that creative has better firmware support with the vision than they have had with the touch.
    Once again, great review

  • Insert End of Paragraph mark before any superscript number

    I am formatting a Bible for a client. The text was provided with verse numbers before each verse, but each chapter is one long paragraph. Now the client has decided they want each verse to begin a new paragraph. How can I globally insert an End of Paragraph mark before each superscrpt verse number?

    In case it helps, and for what it's worth, here's what I assumed:
    As in many bibles, the superscript verse number is simply mixed in the text, preceeding the first sentence of the verse. Could be anywhere, and there is no other special treatment involved. Like this:

  • XMLSerialize indent end of line marker

    In 11g you can specify to pretty print XML when serializing using the indent clause of XMLSerialize.  The trouble is this is formatted using the UNIX end of line marker, Line Feed = #10, even if Oracle is running under Window Server (windows uses Carriage Return + Line Feed = #13#10).  This is causing problems when XML docs are delivered to users on Windows machines, who open it in notepad or similar - it means the data isn't visualised properly (not pretty printed) and they see the LF as a "box" character, which confuses them.
    declare
      vFileContents CLOB;
      vXMLData XMLType;
    begin
      select XMLSerialize(document vXMLData as CLOB indent)
      into vFileContents
      from dual;
      -- Code to output vFileContents to file.
    end;
    Is there any setting (session or DB) to specify CRLF as the default end of line marker, rather than having to do a search and replace on every document?

    Is there any setting (session or DB) to specify CRLF as the default end of line marker, rather than having to do a search and replace on every document?
    Maybe it's a bug, maybe it's been made like that on purpose.
    Anyhow, I think the determining factor is the way the content is written to file.
    How is that part achieved in your code?
    For instance, UTL_FILE automatically converts LF to CRLF on Windows platforms, provided the file is written in character mode.
    If binary mode is used then no conversion takes place.
    If you're using DBMS_XSLPROCESSOR.clob2file(),  it calls UTL_FILE in binary mode internally (so that a different output character set may be specified). So, no conversion in this case.
    The same goes for DBMS_XMLDOM.writeToFile() since it is based on DBMS_XSLPROCESSOR.
    Second question is : how are the files transferred to user machines ?

  • End of songs are cut off

    I have several tracks that are cut off with 4-5 seconds left. The next song immediately starts.
    Anybody else have this problem and now what to do with it?

    I think in iTunes, you might have changed your settings. The settings allow you to select when to end your song, crossfade your songs etc. Go and check your iTunes preferences.

  • My iPod Classic is cutting off the ends of songs; what's up with this?

    My iPod Classic is cutting off the ends of songs...just silence. The play indicator shows that there's more data there but it's just blank. The songs play fine on iTunes and the data on my PC (Windows 7, iTunes 11.02.26). And it's not always the same song... It's like random. So it's got to be a bug in the iPod Classic firmware. Any help from Apple? Get a Zune?

    Is it always the same songs that get cut off?  So the question is, after you do a Restore, when you re-sync songs back to the iPod, is it always the same songs that get cut off?  Or are they different songs each time?  Try doing a Restore and re-sync several times...
    If they are the same songs, that points to a problem with the song files.  Maybe there is data corruption on your computer's hard drive, that caused the song files to become corrupted in a way that iTunes on the computer can still handle, but the iPod's software cannot.  The corrupted songs stay the same.
    If they are different songs, that points to a problem on the iPod.  If a Restore does not fix the problem, then it may be data corruption caused by the iPod's hard drive becoming unreliable.  When you do a re-sync after Restore, the data is not being stored properly on the iPod due to a hardware problem.  It randomly affects different songs each time during the re-sync

  • Ipod Clipping Ends Of Songs

    My ipod seems to be clipping the end of songs that I have imported from my MacBook recently. The songs play in full on the MacBook though.
    Can anyone tell me what is wrong and how to sort this problem?

    Try using the Restore button in iTunes to ERASE the iPod and initialize the iPod's software, as a first step. Then re-sync your iPod to your iTunes library. See if the problem still recurs.
