Stuck after 2.1 Update

I just updated my iPhone 3G with the 2.1 update but am running iTunes 7.7.1.11.
Now, iTunes will not let me sych without upgrading to iTunes 8. I have made several attempts to upgrade to v.8 but cannot due to Bonjour not installing properly. Now I am stuck, catch-22. Any advice on how to either roll-back the iPhone update or successfully installing Bonjour would be greatly appreciated.
I am running WinXP Pro.

disconnect phone
Shut down services for Bonjour (you don't really need that anyway).
Un install 7.7 using control panel add/remove. (you won't lose any data).
Ditto for Apple Mobile device driver and Bonjour.
Reboot to make sure all vestages of these are gone.
Check your running services and make sure.
Turn off virus checker, and XP firewall.
Download and install iTunes 8. If you downloaded it before, do it again
to make sure you have the latest.
Note that the installer is really four applications in one (at least).
Its itunes, Apple mobile device, Bonjour, and mobile me control panel applet.
Of these you only need the first two.
Bonjour just allows you to share your library over your local network. This is inadvisable. I just shut it off in services, and un-installed it. Same with mobileme.

i just update my ipod nano by win 8 , but after update screen stuck there & show "ok to disconnect " , try to plug back system message show is on recovery mode , restore few time still same error occur , anyone know how to solve ?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

• 5s stuck after trying to update to 8.0.2

I tried to update to 8.0.2 over the air and the phone is stuck on recovery mode loop . Every few minutes it flashes a blue screen.
I tried to restore it after entering recovery mode via i tunes but wile downloading the update the i tunes icon went away and one again i only get the apple logo and the blue flashing screen.
I tunes stopped recognising the device.
i can only turn off the device with the home & sleep button.
Do i need to bring the device for service?

That image on your iPhone is telling you it is recovery mode. You must connect it to your computer and then restore with iTune on your computer.

• HT201413 ipad is stuck after trying an update

My ipad is frozen with a picture on the screen indicating it wants to connect ot itunes. This happened after I was trying to do an update.

I have done that. After going through all the steps of trying to recover the ipad, I get a message of -1. this correlates to some type of hardware issue and suggests taking it to an Apple store. The tech at the Apple store says it can't be fixed and I should purchase a new one. REALLY?? All this because I was doing a suggested update that went bad and now I need a new ipad? Do I now want to do an update to my iphone?

• Iphone 4 stuck after ios 6 update

I did the update and now I have the plug in to itunes logo on the screen. when I do this it tells me myphone is in recovery mode and to reset. I've tried resetting using the home button and sleep/wake button for 10 seconds and all i get is the apple logo followed by the same plug into itunes screen of death. how do I reset my phone?

It was new. Interestingly I have just discovered something...
After the restore from recovery, it comes up with this message:
Once this disappears, the message that the phone is in recovery mode appears immediately. However if I disconnect the phone while the above message is still showing (even though it says not to) everything is fine. I can then restore from backup, but once again this message appears and the same thing happens... if I leave the phone plugged in, I get a message saying the phone is in recovery mode but if I quickly unplug it, all is fine and restored from backup!
I now have a working phone with all my old data but I'm scared to ever plug it in to iTunes again in case it goes back into recovery mode. And ideas??

• HT1414 my i phone is not showing up uner devices in itunes so phone is stuck after trying to update ios6. help !

SOS - trying to update my iphone 4 to IOS 6. Says connect to itunes. Done that but nothing is happening. Devices doesnt even come up in itunes? phone is stuck with apple logo on screen. cant do anything?

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

• Stuck after doing IPOD Update

I agreed to accept the newest software for my IPOD mini. After the update, it asks for me to plug it into the wall charger rather than the computer to update the flash program. One problem, dont have my wall charger anymore. Now it will not do anything. Anyway around this?

Restoring a first generation mini via a usb connection requires this step to complete the update. There is no way around this and you will not be able to use the iPod until you do.
Buy or borrow one? Maybe an Apple store can help you out?

• IPod stuck after trying to update software

Hello there
This is my 2nd attempt to update my iPod software and like the first time, it seems to have left my iPod stuck on 'Do Not Disconnect', with the drive just whirring away.
The first time I tried this I thought it'd killed my iPod. It looks like it's doing the same thing again. Should I just disconnect my iPod and see if I can sort it like I did last time?
Or does the update just happen to take ages and ages?
Thank you for your help. I've looked through a few threads but haven't managed to find anyone with quite the same problem - apologies if I missed it.

I had the same problem, this is how I fixed it...
I had to go to a completely new computer (my work one) that didn't have iTunes on it, install iTunes 9.0, then do the restore...now it works...
I would assume that if you removed every last vestige of iTunes from your computer it would act the same way. I think you would have to delete and completely remove the iTunes files from your user folder on Windows machines (AppData or LocalData, the hidden folder with the iTunes info in it...)

What in particular didn't you like about Firefox 6?
You can undo a lot of changes, either via changing settings or prefs on the about:config page or via extensions.

Do a clean reinstall of the version that you want to use.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

• After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server.

After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server. I have already tried the resetting with power swich and home button and plugging into computer but it says the "iPhone software update server cannot be contacted." I am locked out of my phone. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue and get the phone working again. I will add that I am now trying to restore it on a different computer with a lower version of itunes, but the computer that it initially happened on had the updated itunes and gave me the same result ... nothing. Thanks for your help in advance.

Try going to recovery mode as described here. You may have to try this more than once to succeed.
Use the original iTunes that the iPhone synced with.

• Both Ipad2 and Iphone3Gs stuck in recovery mode after iOS 5 update

Hello,
My Ipad2 (and the Iphone 3Gs of my wife) is stuck after trying updating my devic with iOS 5.
Error 3200 occured and then the screen only shows the usb plug to Itunes, and that's it !!
Any idea please ?
Regards,

Well, after attempting every kind of tips seen on the web, I tried this one to exit recovery mode : stop then start "Apple device service" on Win7 64 bit, change the usb plug where my devices were linked.
And, I don't know why, Itunes recognized again both Ipad2 and Iphone 3Gs, said 'hey your devices are in recovery mode !' ,and proposed to backup and update them. After long minutes waiting, both devices were upgraded with iOS 5 and then sync to put my apps on them.
Thankfully everything now works properly, but It has been long hours of trouble and frustration...

Hello richardayoub1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is in recovery mode, you will need to restore it with iTunes.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
