Stuck at activate iphone screen

I got this Iphone 4 from my sister and her husband for Christmas this year, AWESOME right!? Not so much, got the Iphone, got home noticed that they formatted the phone then connected via WiFi to only find out that my sisters husband had the Find my Iphone feature ON! No she didn't split from him and take his phone, he upgraded lol. I wish the problem could be as easily solved as giving it back to them and having them hook it up to their PC but they DON'T have one? WoW! and whats worse even is the fact that apparently every time they got a new Iphone hes used a NEW EMAIL address for his Apple ID! So they dont remember the Email address let alone the password. My sister said shes called the ATT and they'll send her an Email, but that doesnt sound right can ATT have access to Find My Iphone feature? And If not what is the proper steps in getting this resolved! I use these iphones as media devices, NOT phones I listen to podcasts and watch movies thru them nothing more. Please Help, any help would be appreciated

No can do, an apple store is 2-3 he's away and my sis isn't the type to keep receipt s. I do have an email from ATT saying they unlocked BUT they misunderstood and UNLOCKED it as in making it available to use w/ tracfone or net10 :'(

It's a Verizon/CDMA phone. If it has a SIM, it's likely not activated and never has been. Then again, same is likely true of my other iPhone. "Likely" as in I have no recollection of ever asking Verizon to activate the SIM.

Hello, I recently upgraded my iPhone 3gs 4.3.3 to iOS 5, and it was stupid of me to not create a backup. It was unlocked thanks to cydia and now I dont know if there's anything for me to do! Please help, I cant afford a new one.

WOW! Instead of slide-to-unlock, enter passcode, find my camera app, wait for it to load,...AND THEN take the picture (iOS4).... all I do now is double click home btn and push camera icon. BEAUTIFUL!

IPad is stuck on Activate screen

iPad is stuck on Activate iPad screen, the linked apple id is asking for a password which when entered wants reset as it been entered wrong three times.
Can't reset as there are no security questions or email confirmation on account - have receipt to prove its my iPad.
Help, my iPad is a brick and its all a catch 22!

If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

Yep, looked down just now and my phone is stuck on the Cound Not Activate iPhone screen. What gives? It was working fine an hour ago and I haven't touched it since then. I'm in Kansas City on AT&T if it's in any way germain to the situation...

Could not activate iPhone - server is unavailable; update not possible

My iPhone said it required activation when I turned it on. I go to the "Activate iPhone" screen and enter my Apple ID and password. Hitting "Next" doesn't seem to produce any results, but then tells me (after multiple attempts) that "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable." I found this result: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3424. I tried restarting it but get the same screen.
I tried connecting to iTunes and I am told that the software has expired and must be updated. Hitting the "Check for Update" button on iTunes, however, says I'm up to date. The last option the link above gives is to "Restore iPhone" - however clicking this tells me I have to turn off "Find My iPhone" before I can. How do I turn off "Find My iPhone"? I have to access the app on my device, which I can't get into as it's not activated.
Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

this is outrageous! I'm a developer too and using ios since the beta versions! Now I can't use my iphone, neither activate it (takes too long and then gives an error). Itunes gives an error too saying that the software version is wrong but I can't update it because it says that I have the latest version....

I got like the same problem, last days I get message to restore my iPhone, so I did it yesterday and it work very well. In the afternoon I saw that at top in the left corner show invaild sim card or so (only knew the german version). so I restore it again but now it won`t activate after I enter SIM-PIN and it accept it, it shows "No Service".
Anybody can help? My Carrier is o2 Germany.

OK. My friend had bought an iPhone 4 online, second hand. He does not have the SIM card. He had recently changed his passcode and FORGOT IT, and we had to restore it. The problem is that, after we restored, it askes for the SIM activation. And none of us have a MICRO SIM Card. So my question is how can I find out what carrier the iPhone is with if it is stuck on the welcome screen and if I can borrow someone elses SIM card to activate the phone so he can use it.

Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray BEFORE doing the reset.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

You have already done some great troubleshooting on your own. The next step I would suggest would be restoring the iPhone. Please use the attached article to place the iPhone is a special status mode called recovery mode. Restore from recovery mode and test to see if the issue remains or is resolved.

Normally, I would suggest restoring the iPad and uninstall and reinstall iTunes but you have done both of those things - more times than you ever imagined!
Have you thought about turning auto syncing off?
Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
If you do this you can backup the iPad right away before it syncs. You may want to go into all of the iTunes tabs and just make sure that all of the current content on the iPad is selected to sync before you actually do sync.
This doesn't solve the problem, but it would prevent the automatic sync and erasing content. Hopefully, in the next few days- when iOS 5 is released - you will also be relieved of this weird iPad behavior - since the iOS devices are supposed to become PC free.
BTW - and this is no excuse for what you are experiencing, but I have found that some of the game apps that I had on my iPad turned out to be quite troublesome and after I removed them, my problems went away. I know that is almost sacrilege with regard to the Angry Birds addiction .... But I'm just saying ...
