Mitch,
Thanks for the green star next to my post, but since it was not the solution, I shouldn't get it ... you should! I realize you can't do that, but in the future, just mark the question solved. It helps avoid confusing users looking for the answer.

Help! How can I take out the mini-disc stuck in mac?
I insert it into the mac, but the OS cannot load the disc and the disc cannot be ejected even i pressed the "eject" button.

This happened to a family members macbookpro. A mini-cd inserted, couldn't be mounted or ejected by the drive.
I cut a rectangle from a cereal box about two inches wide and 6 inches long. Abour an inch and half from one end in the middle I cut a notch and bent it down a little.

I then inserted it slowly into the drive notch down and slowly pulled out. I did this few times and caught the mimi-cd and removed it. The drive has worked flawlessly for several years
A few days after this happened I was in BestBuy and an Apple rep was there displaying new Apple products. I asked him about it and he said they have a tool that ***** it out.

Help I do not have everything on my hard drive backed up

You don't need to start a new topic.
"*Help I do not have everything on my hard drive backed up "*
Well, that's not good since the drive needs repairing.

  • Stuck in "Mac OS X 10.5 Setup Assistant"

    Hi there
Subject: Stuck in 'Mac OS X Setup Assistant'
I am stuck in "Mac OS X Setup Assistant" After rebooting following software upgrade, the Setup Assistant appears unexpectedly each time Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard starts up, and continues to appear even after completing all pages in the assistant,
I followed the steps advised by Joseph Kriz on 09 February 2008, in the enclosed webpage and achieved safe boot.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306998
However the window denoting safe boot has only login in button. No back button, no restart button. No other buttons, even after I pressed power button quickly, a few times.
    I am stuck.

This may be an issue with the pde plugins. PDE stands for print dialog extension and are included with vendor drivers to provide access to printer features not supported by the core printing system. If you are using a Power PC driver (or sharing it from the G4 to the MacTel) then that may be a possible cause. See if HP offers a Universal Binary driver for your model.

  • Stuck on mac os x utilities

my macbook pro says it has no start up disk and now im stuck on mac os x utilities with four options to use (time machine) or (install moutain lion) or (use internet for help) or (disk utility).

Use Disk Utility to repair your system disk drive because it sound like it has lost the operating system.
If it can be repaired then install Mountain Lion.

  • CD stuck in Mac Mini

i Have a Mac Mini and i inserted a CD but i pressed the Eject Button but the computer wont eject the cd now its stuck in there? does anyone knows if the Mac Mini has a force Eject CD feature?

    Try this article:

    See also this thread:

Failing that, I think there is a force eject method, I think it is a hole through which you have to insert a pin. Since I am not sure where the hole is, I am not going to tell you to go poke around. You may have to open the Mini to access the hole.

  • Totally stuck with Mac & Epson Printer

    Hi Guys
My first post and it's going to be a bit long winded so please bear with me.
My wife and I run a photographic studio in Hertfordshire and we recently bought our first mac (Mac Pro and 23" Hd Screen) after years of PC use. We have been trying for a number of months to bring our printing in house as the nature of our work requires 100% confidentiality.
We had bought an Epson R2400 and after a little messing around with screen settings and using a spyder pro to calibrate we were getting fantastic results. However this was on a PC and it struggled to run Photoshop CS3, Lightroom and a few other bits so we decided to invest in the Mac.
Anyway on to the problems (please be patient I'm a recent convert!) - I installed the printer using the drivers from Epson (6.12) and in profiler it is showing as using
    Epson Stylus Photo R2400 - Gutenprint v5.1.3
From then on I'm totally stuck, I'm getting all sorts of weird prints, some really dark, some really yellow, here's what I am doing:
    From photoshop selecting
(color settings are set to the default of North America General Purpose 2 and the doc is sRgb)
    file/print
    Photoshop manages color
    relative colormetric
Profile is sRGB (No Epson profiles are available in the drop down)
    Then choosing print
From the print screen I select printer features and set the following
    Color Model: RGB Color
    Color Precision: Normal
Media Type: Premium Glossy Photo Paper
    Print Quality: Best
Resolution: 1440 * 1440 (I did leave it on auto but that seemed to just print in draft!)
    Output order: reverse
all other settings are left as default
What am I missing, or more likely doing completely wrong? On the PC I just chose printer manages color, color to ICM with the epson profile, selected my paper type and getting excellent prints every time.
A little further information if it is of any use, I calibrated my cinema display with a spyder 3 pro and set the target to Gamma 1.8 and white point to native
Any help, advice or links to tutorials/resources would be greatly appreciated
    Many thanks
    Ossie

    Hi
I had the same issue. The first thing you need to do is remove the Gutenprint driver and install the new Epson Leopard driver from the epson website.
As to the best colour mgt and print settings (re photoshop CS3 )if you search the boards here you will find several discussions on the topic and sugested settings.
I eventually got mine to work ok.
Hope that helps , good luck.

  • Disc physically stuck in Mac

A few days ago, a CD got physically stuck in my Mac (OS X Yosemite 10.10, 20-inch, Mid 2007, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). I do not know if it met the standard specification for the Mac, because a relative was the one who put it in.
I tried ejecting it, but now my Mac keep making random ejecting noises, but nothing comes out. Is it possible that this may damage my computer?
I don't want to stick anything into the disc slot, in fear of damaging it. I also want to avoid bringing it to a apple store, because they may charge me a fortune to fix it.
    Any advice?

I also want to avoid bringing it to a apple store, because they may charge me a fortune to fix it.
You are completely mistaken. The genius bar at an Apple Store has NOTHING in common with the car dealer.
You appointment for an evaluation is FREE, in warranty or out, although you need to answer a few more questions before they will book the appointment. These guys put their hands on these Macs all day every day, and physical problems and power problems are what they are best at. Ejecting a stubborn disc is a daily occurrence there.
If the technician can fix your problem in a few minutes without using parts, it will generally be done for free. Any work for a fee is at flat rate, no surprises, and you are always free to deny authorization.

  • Old inaccessible Apple ID stuck in Mac App Store

I have a hand-me-down Macbook Pro from my uncle, who used the computer before me himself. He has his own Apple ID and i have my own as well. My uncle had his ID used on the computer for Final Cut Pro X and Angry Birds, among other apps. I deleted all of the content that was based on his account from the computer when he gave it to me other than Final Cut Pro X. However for a long time now Angry Birds has been a part of his account and still shows up in my Mac App Store. For as long as I can remember, that little red badge with the 1 on it has been hanging on the Mac App Store logo for Angry Birds. It's a really long story, but the point is the email and the ID itself are as far as I know, inaccessible, the Apple ID is disabled with no hope of retreival, and that godforsaken Angry Birds 2.1.0 update is stuck there forever. I've tried deleting the Mac App Store's plists with the following commands in Terminal:
    rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
    rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.storeagent
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
    rm ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
I've tried uninstalling the Mac App Store, which lead to me having to reinstall all of Mac OS X, I've tried deleting the only app from that account I have, Final Cut Pro X, and every possible combination of the above mentioned, but no matter what, Mac App Store still thinks I need to update Angry Birds. Please, someone, anyone, help me. I've never hated Angry Birds, Mac App Store or that red update badge more in my life.

Is it really your uncle's Apple ID that is appearing with the update, or is it a stranger's Apple ID appearing?
If it is a stranger's ID, then you have a pirated app.

  • Powerbook stuck at mac osx boot up

my computer is stuck at the mac os x screen upon boot up the blue line fills then stops at end when full and still says for at least last twenty minutes starting mac osx at bottom, if anyone has any ideas to help thx

Did this just start, and if so, have you added any software or hardware recently? First, unplug any hardware you have plugged into any port.
    Have you tried:
A safe boot: Reboot, holding the shift key down. This does some disk maintenance and doesn't load login items, amongst other things. Does this work? If so, try a normal reboot right after, does it work now?
Insert the first OS X DVD you have, and reboot holding the C key down. This will boot from the DVD. If you can do this, bring up disk utility from the utilities menu, and fix permissions and repair the disk. Does the repair indicate that anything was done? Any issues identified? Can you boot normally now?

  • Disc stuck and Mac does not recognize superdrive

I have an iMac G5 (no video camera). I have been using the superdrive without problem until today. I placed a DVD in the drive and nothing. I have tried every method I could think of to eject it. Ominously, the drive does not even appear when I run system profile.
Any thoughts on how to fix this short of a repair trip to Apple? Thanks!

Try the Eject option in the Finder>File Menu.

  • Stuck at mac os x utilites/internet recovery only option when booting up?

Okay I have a macbook pro I bought from someone for $5, I was emptying the trash and this dude goes towards and it and throws it in the garbage can, I ask whats wrong with it, he says he does not know and it only goes to mac os x utilities, when you put internet recovery so i offered him $5 for it even though it is in the trash he accepts and says good luck and he drives off. Their is no disk drives when trying to recover only internet recoevery, when I try Clicking reinstall mac os x it says install information cannot be found, I Need a step to step guide on how to make a recovery hd, The hard drive is in, and their is a disk1 with MAC OS X Base system.

You will need to boot the computer using Internet Recovery in order to install OS X properly. You cannot use the OS X installed by someone else.
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

  • Install CD stuck in Mac book Pro

I tried resetting my system administrator password with the Install CD, utilities, it seemed to work, but now am unable to eject the install CD and start up from the hard drive. the only start up option it gives me is to start up from the CD or a network. Am I going to have to reinstall the total system? Help!! (fairly new mac book user).

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
When booted from the install disc, navigate to Disk Utility. Do you see your boot disk? If not, or if it's in red letters, it has failed and you won't be able to boot to it.
    Good luck!
